Night clerk had a dirty and stained shirt. First impressions, we very nearly did not check in. However the room was clean. The folowing morning the day clerk was,argumentative and refused to accept what I was trying to say.. the hotel was chosen because it had a pool which turned out to be under repair and closed. The website still advertises this feature as being available. Very dissatisfied with this experience.

Victim of supply and demand. Found this hotel after all others were sold out. Check in was great and clerk was super nice. Got to the room and walked into 80 degree heat. Turned on AC and cover fell off. Felt cool so we went and ate. Come back and room was 78 degree. Opened window and was still miserably hot all night. Told clerk on check out and got an "OK" and returned to eating her sandwhich. I said well it was still 80 in there so window is still open.. reply? "Ok" no sorry no nothing but ok... ridiculous customer service.

It was fine. Closest hotel to where we needed to be. I booked through hotels.com (though would rather book direct, but won’t if it’s cheaper third party), and had pending (what I’m assuming were incidentals) charges from the hotel before I checked in. I called just to make sure it wasn’t a spoof attempt and the woman who answered was very rude and uneducated on the process of things which made things worrisome. I asked why my card was charged before I checked in and she said “well how would we know you had money on that card? We have to charge it to know,” which may be true but was news to me. I asked how much the security charge for each room would be - as I had booked 3 for my family - and she said “well how much were you charged?” “$300, for three rooms - is it a $100 hold per night?” “Well, u don’t know but it sounds like that’s what it is.” “Okay thank you have a good night!” Click. It was just very off-putting especially for a place that hasn’t been updated since 1989 if I had to guess. I would be fine with that based on location and rate, but anything that requires monetary involvement without my knowledge is just a little weird to me and I would expect a full explanation from the people charging me. I would drive the additional 30 minutes to stay elsewhere if given the opportunity again.

On the day I was checking out, I had the “do not disturb” hanging on the outside of my door and someone from the cleaning crew unlocked my door and walked right in between 8am-9am (when check out wasn’t until 11am). They never knocked, they never made themselves known….it was really scary because I was sound asleep until I heard my door unlock and open! I was not happy knowing that the staff just walks into peoples rooms whenever they feel like it. I’ll never stay there again!

We stayed for 4 days and we never got maid service! Turns out we had to ask for it. All that money and we have to ask them to clean the room? Never have we had to ask for maid service anywhere. Sheets were stiff, never got any new towels. Breakfast was all packaged processed food. Just terrible

The hotel was good. Typical of a budget friendly hotel in a rural area. The staff was friendly. The walls were thin and the people staying there were all there for winter sports, so there was quite a bit of noise from clopping boots, but the hotel was very accommodating to those who were there for snowmobiling and fat biking. I have been to a lot of hotels for bike trips, and always do, but this was the first time I have ever been asked by staff to take my bike to my room because they know how expensive it is and they don’t want anything to happen to it on the property, which felt very welcoming. Breakfast was very basic, coffee and carbs; cereal, toast, muffins, etc. There was a pool and hot tub which looked nice, but I didn’t bring a suit, so I didn’t partake. I would stay here again because of how welcoming it was and the proximity to the RAMBA trails.

This is a dated property but is well maintained and was a nice find for a good price. Room was clean and front desk staff were friendly. Breakfast was good for the price paid and level of this property. They had make your own waffles, yogurt, bagels, etc. I will return next time I am in Houghton/Hancock.

The hotel was okay....but the price is definitely too high for what i got. The tile on the bathroom floor was cracked and broken (it even moved under your weight). The beds were decent, it had a microwave and mini fridge. Breakfast wasnt anything spectacular, but there was a decent selection of items. Not sure id stay there again, unless they do some maintenance or lower the price. (I paid $180 for 2 queens, for 1 night)
