Hampton Inn Detroit/Northville

This is a decent hotel, but we were quite upset because we were told they had an open pool and then we check in and are told it has been closed for months. My kids had their bathing suits and were very upset.

Everything about this place was excellent. The beds were comfortable, the workout room couldn't have been better, breakfast was good, to name a few. I would definitely stay here again.

I wish I had known before booking that the hotel was under major renovations. Pulling up, I was afraid they were closed. There were very few cars in the parking lot, pieces were missing from the awning, and the entire side of the building was covered in construction plastic & cardboard. There were signs construction activities were from 10-5. Loud thumping scared me at 7am when I was in the shower as exterior building work had already started. The AC didn't work well & it rattled. My room has a chemical smell. The bed was lumpy. The layout in the building was confusing. Service was good & friendly. Breakfast seemed good but I didn't have time to try it. I believe the pool was closed. I would have picked somewhere else to stay had I been aware of the major construction activities.

Great: front desk team. Convenient location for our travel needs. Poor: construction area evident. Pool closed as a result. Difficult driveway location. Could smell smoke in hallways.

It has a really great gym and good breakfast.

The property was being renovated when I stayed. The staff was very friendly and responsive. While not a walkable area, you are near a bunch of shopping and dining options. The fact it's just off I-275 is a plus.

I can't recall a more comfortable bed than the one I slept in at Hampton Inn. I was here on two occasions, and slept in two different rooms, and both nights I got nearly 12 hours of sleep, which is unheard of for me. I really appreciated the unlimited coffee available in the lobby, the bowl of apples and bananas across from reception, and the clean and complete gym. Highly recommend this place!

There was no pool or hot tub, no ice on 2nd floor. There was construction everywhere. I don’t mind upgrades, however we should have been warned ahead of time and should have been offered a discount for the inconvenience.

The pool was closed and the hotel was undergoing renovations. This info was not shared with our party until after check in. The hotel was in various stages of dis-repair and we were kept up all night from slamming doors. The manager, Leonardo, refused to refund our night's stay and was unapologetic for the inconveniance. I would not reccommend staying there.

The room was clean & comfortable. TV was positioned properly. Shower was great. Breakfast was full and menu changed, was well attended by staff. The gym had a better variety of equipment than most. Staff was attentive. Located just off freeway, but no noise from it. Free hot beverages in lobby. Enjoyed stay. Would stay again.

Clean room

The room was comfortable and just the right size. The bathroom still had hair in it from the last person so that was less than stellar. The desk clerk was super friendly and gave me a couple of bottles of water when I checked in. The location to stores and families was great. The breakfast wasn't so great though.

Phone in room didn’t work and requested it to be fixed and they never came to fix. Carpet in lobby and elevator had the same dirt/crumbs for 2 days.

Check in was great! Brett greeted me with a smile and I was checked in quickly. When we got to the room it smelled and immediately upon inspection, there were like, juice stains on the mirror. Which made me feel like the room wasn’t cleaned properly. We went to get some lunch, came back, and there was a centipede crawling in the bathroom. Our second day, we asked for more towels and were told there weren’t any, they gave us pool towels. We just never felt like the room was clean, we kept seeing bugs, little ones, centipedes, no ants. But still, it just didn’t seem like there was any pride in cleaning. Also, there was no physical remote. You can share your room key, but it doesn’t allow the remote feature to be shared. So my boyfriend was having to constantly ask me to change the station or turn up the volume. Wouldn’t stay again.

Carpets in hallway were filthy. Definitely needs a good cleaning!

Carpet is quite dirty throughout the hotel but otherwise a classic Hampton Inn stay.

Dirty, stained carpet in areas. Also terrible breakfast: fruit salad was grey and looked stale and inedible, bananas were over ripe, pastry and bagel choices were minimal. It was difficult to get in the room fridge due to the fridge door swinging in the opposite direction as the cabinet door.

Room was clean, but the plug in the bathroom was shorted out, the bed coverings were too small for the bed, the carpet was dirty and stained. We would not stay there again.

The staff was friendly. The room had broken items, and part of ceiling was damaged. the bathroom was small. When the room was made up, we had pulled up the bedding and the bed was not touched. The top of the desk and tv table was not whipped off. There was no conditioner in the shower and had not been replaced when room was made up. Feels the rooms need updating. The morning breakfasts were very good and room was kept clean.

I slept well and my room was clean, however the hallways and hall carpets were very dirty and looked like they could use a couple of good shampoos and cleanings. Once in the room, things were nice and clean.

The front desk staff were very nice and helpful. However, the noise level prevented me from sleeping for most of the nights I was there. Also, the snowplow and snowblower at 5 AM was not ideal and there was barely any snow on the ground

Bathrooms are small, lots of road noise.

Checked in around 11pm Nice and quick at the front desk Easy parking Everything looked nice and clean The elevators are a bit of a maze from the front desk. Upon leaving the front lobby area, the temperature dropped about 5 degrees 3rd floor was substantially cooler Rooms were a bit of a maze and doorways looked dated. Room was very very clean Smelled lovely but the room was freezing The thermostat looked standard but when you pushed the buttons nothing obvious was changing The fan kept turning on and off and was super loud and disturbing We’ve stayed in hundreds of rooms and this thermostat definitely wasn’t making sense and wasn’t directly controlling the temperature. The toilet wouldn’t flush properly and the tank kept running all night even tho we tried to check it. Pillows and bed were comfy. Complimentary Breakfast was standard but we stay at Hamptons a lot and this was below the average appeal. The mixed fruit looked slimy and not fresh. The egg omelet things weren’t fully reheated so they were gummy in the middle. But overall it was fine. Well stay here again for a quick one nighter if necessary. Area was safe and easy to access.

The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable as they listen to your comments and request. We arrived late for our reservation but still was able to use it. The hotel itself is clean, the rooms were clean, but the rooms are a bit small. If we had an occasion to be back in the area, this Hampton Inn would definitely be in the list of hotels to stay at.

Upon check in we were greeted by a very friendly woman behind the counter. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable however, the walls must be paper thin. At night we could hear the people in the room next to us almost like they were in our room. The breakfast was really quite nice and the area was clean and well stocked with food.

The pillows were not good, to small. There was a lot of loud noises in the middle of the night.

I booked two rooms with (accessibility) thorugh Expedia. When I arrived ! was given one room very different from the other. The smaller room had a bed pushed up agaist the wall. I could not believe that this was adequate for someone who needed more access points. When I went to share my concerns with the front desk I was told I had to deal with Expedia as they were responsible for booking the two different rooms. I called Expedia and they worked on having me moved to another room. They cancelled my room and re booked me for another room. When I went to the front desk as directed by Expedia no information was sent to Hampton Inn and they were unable to move me to another room. Now I have to call Expedia again to have confirmation numbers given directly to the fron desk over the phone. I was charged more money for the alternate room. My issue: Why did Expedia book me two different rooms? Should I not be made aware of the avaiabilty? Even when Expedia tries to solve the issue they did not follow through to ensure all was communicated with the Hotel. Why am I being charged more money when it was Expedia that messed up? Lastly, I do not like Hampton Inn blaming Expedia or vice versa. As partners in business this is not a good practice. This is a bigger problem than the Hampton Inn. This is customer service issues with Expedia. I am a Gold member with Expedia and I have booked most every stay through Expedia. I think it is time for a change!

Front desk attendant was very pleasant. The room was very clean. Breakfast staff was attentive.

Staff were exceptionally pleasant and helpful. It snowed while we were there. The young man at the front desk cleared our car before breakfast. Great service!

There was no hot water for over a day. No communication with guests. No posting of information. There seemed to be little concern and certainly no alternatives offered. During my three-night visit I had no cleaning service. Zero. The breakfast was “hit or miss”. Found two yogurts in the frig one morning. Another morning there were a few yogurts lying on the counter among spilled juice. Disposables filled the trash bins —paper goods, plastic “cutlery”, coffee cups… This is a blemish on the Hilton name!

The staff was amazing. They went out of their way to help me to successfully finish my seminar. I would highly recommend this place.

Got to hotel and was told AFTER I was check in in that cable was out. No offer of any compensation (snacks, meal voucher, etc). Was then told around 10:00 last night that cable was back on (I went for a late dinner to kill time) - unfortunately, that was also inaccurate. Fortunately I was only there for a night.

Oh, what a stay to remember—from 8/20 to 8/24, we had the pleasure of experiencing hospitality at its most... interpretive. The staff greeted us with such warmth that they even let us check in early. That brief moment of competence? Easily the highlight of our visit. From there, it was a masterclass in how not to run a hotel. The staff was so friendly, they must’ve thought we’d enjoy a more “natural” experience—no towels, no trash pickup, and certainly no cleaning, despite our repeated requests. They even had a charming little sign promising cleaning every other day. Adorable! Four days later, still nothing. I guess they meant “every other day in an alternate universe.” And the hot water situation? Oh, just a minor detail—who needs it for over 24 hours, right? Cold showers build character. In summary, if you're looking for a place that redefines the meaning of “worst hotel stay ever,” look no further. Five stars—for effort in disappointment.

We enjoyed our stay. Nice room. We did find a back drive to get into the hotel parking lot, as it’s on a busy street/corner.

If looking for a property while visiting locals, this is a great choice. We ordered in dinner and ate in the clean lobby, coffee/tea/hot chocolate free unlimited, refrigerator in room, small room but serviceable. Very nice helpful employees. This is right on the main street, convenient.
