Holiday Inn Express St Louis - Central West End

Check in was great until the trainee walked in and the entire place suddenly smelled of weed. The clerk was visibly annoyed and the trainee seemed to think it was funny. The room was exceptional, comfortable, very clean with a great shower. Parking is inside and out. The only complaint was the bar was already closed at 9 pm on a Saturday night.

As with most real estate…location, location, location of the hotel is great. Was confusing to find though because signage was Hotel Indigo, but we booked and GPS’d Holiday Inn Express. Bistro side is undergoing renovation which we were informed of. It did not interfere with service. Breakfast by voucher was quite lacking. The coffee cafe had only coffees, teas, sweet rolls and heat and served quiches. The order/delivery process was very slow, even though 3 staffers working. 20 minutes to get a cappuccino, a weak, watery, un chocolate-y hot chocolate, and two sweet rolls. No juices but options for purchase with other snacks/sundry items at desk. So the complimentary breakfast was a pastry, a coffee/tea beverage, juice at my cost. The hotel area has been renovated and is clean, light, and modern. Our room was Euro style. Only a desk chair, not comfy one, very compact space. The bathroom lacked any kind of shelf/counter space. A pedestal sink had no space for any toiletries. Shower was great!! On sight parking for $15 per night. Bed comfortable and efficient internet.

It is newly restored they are opening up a restaurant soon. This is a nice place to stay. There only problem is the parking spots are so small.

Property under construction. Parking is $15. Just a grab n go breakfast. Elevators very slow. Rooms have been remodeled- they are small but very nice and great beds linens towels. I would not stay here again until construction completed

Remodeling/construction still going on as of Feb 16, 2025. It had no effect on parking/access to hotel or room. Room newly remodeled. Gym is basic but got my cardio in. Very clean. Staff is so nice and very helpful. Breakfast is grab and go, perfect for our 3-day stay.

Everything as very clean and nice, especially for the price range. The parking situation was a bit tight but it was in a locked underground garage so I knew my car was safe. Staff was friendly and helpful with any questions or needs we had. Would definitely stay here again.

Really liked the secure parkingbutthere were very few spaces and they were small for some vehicles folks drive now.

Hotel was nice; however, breakfast reconstruction mess. There is no pool. You're charged $15 parking plus a "green" fee. Staff was very friendly. Probably would not stay here again with the mess.

Parking situation is a nightmare. Get piled up on each other outside trying to get in because no where to park while getting room/parking pass.

The room was very clean and functional. The bed and pillows were so comfortable. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. They helped us with a cable we needed and restaurant recommendations. We truly enjoyed our stay here!

St Louis itself is really nice and the hotel was pretty…..but we found a lot of human hair in our bed. It was obvious someone had slept in it, the sheets weren’t changed. It was like they just pulled the corners and made sure it looked presentable.

The shower floor was filthy, so was the bathroom floor. I paid extra fo a balcony and the spider webs, debris piled up all over. I would expect maintenance could at least sweep it up occasionally!

I got bit on my face and shoulder by a bedbug on our first night and had a comedy show to attend the next night and my left side of my face is still swollen

The property is close to Barnes. It was clean, newly remodeled and very comfortable.

The rooms are excellent. The hallways and outside of the property looks a little old, but it is in a very safe part of town and walkable distance to Barnes Jewish Hospital clinics as well as university, Health;Sciences and Pharmacy school… It is also in very walkable distance to multiple restaurants… Would highly recommend.

The regular suites and balcony suite are outstanding for the price. The rooms were clean and well appointed. Loved the space in the walk-in shower.

Love this stay, very modern rooms

The location was great. Near a lot of restaurants & attractions. HOWEVER, the Room was definitely not worth the price paid at $160 a night. For anyone curious, microwaves are not included in the rooms. There was only one in the lobby for the entire hotel.

Just discovered this property and am really enjoying it. Fast checkin, good parking, large rooms (especially the king with extra floor space!), and smart design elements. Convenient location for my needs.

The room was incredibly large and at the end of the hallway. Perfect. Great style. Easy parking.

Staff was excellent. Room clean and simple. However, the hotel had construction happening all week and the "view" from the balcony we paid extra for was a mud pit that flooded when it rained. Walls were also paper thin so we were woken up by construction every morning at 8am. Not to mention being able to hear anyone in the hallways or yapping dogs in other rooms. Sheets and towels were pretty low quality too. Overall, the hotel was clean and bathroom nice, but overpriced for construction and noise.

The Bad: No one at front desk at night when attempting to check in, had to wait around ten minutes before someone appeared. Issues with getting me checked in because I booked with Hotels.Com. Pillows were very lumpy, the $15 dollar nightly parking fee was not disclosed until I was checked in. Strange splotch on room ceiling, not enough shower towels provided. Lack of on-grounds parking. The Good: Located near everything we wanted to do, very comfortable beds, only real affordable hotel in the area. Easy access to rooms. Clean rooms, good shower and bathroom. Employees were very friendly when needed/found.

Check in was easy, the staff was very helpful with directing us to the best lot for our vehicle, the rooms were updated and clean, and the linens and beds were excellent. The shower was our favorite part of our hotel room. Booking a hotel somewhere you haven’t been before can be risky sometimes. We got the jackpot with this hotel and we’ll book here again for our next stay in St. Louis.

Beautiful and modern rooms! The balcony was awesome. It was quiet, clean, and in a perfect location. Very walkable and close to top rated restaurants.

The staff were very friendly and welcoming. They were having computer problems when we checked in and they kept apologizing for our wait. We understood it wasn't their fault. This was our first stay here and we weren't disappointed! Our room was neat, very clean, and the perfect temperature. The hotel doesn't provide breakfast but there is a coffee shop on site with breakfast options. My daughter-in-law had the chorizo burrito and I had a pumpkin scone. They were both delicious and the barrista was very nice. There is secure parking and it was close to the hospital where I had an appointment. I have a couple more future appointments there and I will be booking a room here again for sure! Highly recommend!

Although the hallways are dingy and the 2nd floor smells like smoke (odd since all hotels now are non-smoking), my actual room was very clean and comfortable and did not smell at all. Tayonda was very helpful with assigning me a room that met my room requests. The location is great- steps from Forrest Park and great central west end restaurants. The hotel also has Bar social which has a coffee shop with breakfast sandwiches in the morning, a bar, and a pizza place so very convenient if you don’t want to leave the hotel. The hotel does not appear to be as accommodating for early check in/late check out requests. I asked the night before for late checkout the following morning and was told i would have to ask the following morning but it shouldn’t be a problem. When I went down the following morning…they said they had too many late checkouts and couldn’t accommodate me. I can understand if their policy is first come first serve but that should’ve been made clear the night before so I could’ve called down as soon as I woke up in the morning. They weren’t accommodating early check in even for customers w IHG status. The housekeeping team does a great job since the room was so clean but perhaps the hotel could hire additional staff so more customers could enjoy check in/check out.

Faith was so amazing at the front desk and totally took care of me when it was pouring rain outside and got me all set up. The hotel room was clean and looked like it had been recently updated. Parking was easy and they had a complimentary light breakfast. It was perfect for my quick stay in St. Louis. I was also able to easily walk to restaurants, coffee, shops and the park.

The location is terrific. The hotel itself is fine, though needs to be updated and the room was nice. For the most part, though, the service and front-desk employees were bad. Particularly the woman running the desk the afternoon of Dec 22, 2024. Our key cards stopped working every morning even though we reserved and pre-paid for 3 days. Having to go to the desk for replacement cards every morning was annoying enough, but she acted like it was our fault and was visibly put out and rude that we were asking her to do something, to do her job; basically anything that wasn't playing around on her phone. I also hate that the IHG customer service line tries to force you into joining their membership program, and essentially implies that even prepaid stays aren't guaranteed if you aren't a member. That's obnoxious.

Despite being the construction our stay was enjoyable and helped us have the best time in STL. Front desk staff throughout our stay were awesome and very attentive. Would definitely stay here again.

The customer service at this location was incredible. Jordan, who checked me in, was so kind and helpful. The room was nice, clean, and cozy. Parking was easy and affordable. Great stay!

The facilities are excellent and newly renovated. At check-in Jamal was great, but he was a one-man show. I was number 5 in line and it took a bit to get checked in. Anyone who called was put on hold and the entire time I was there the phone was not answered. With all that being said, the room was great. I loved the shower and the bed was comfortable. It is also conveniently located to restaurants and a Whole Foods. I would definitely go back and I recommend the hotel.

I was in STL to visit a friend who was in the ICU at a local hospital, so the most important thing about this hotel was that it was very close to the hospital, but still very affordable.

Parking is only $15 and you can go in and out as much as you’d like. Great location next to Forest Park and other restaurants. Hotel is updated, clean, comfortable. Would stay again.

There was really no breakfast like in other hotels. It was very limited. Just coffee and pastries.

This is a nice hotel with updated rooms. We were on the first floor and the guests above us were so loud. You may want to request the 3rd floor. It’s in a chic area with great restaurants within walking distance. Be aware it’s a ‘grab and go’ breakfast so it isn’t great.

We had a good stay, but it would have been nice to know that the breakfast area was under renovation. They did offer a grab and go breakfast, but it was not what I thought I was paying for. It was a very small space, not what you would expect for the price.

Room and hotel were nice. But Grab and Go breakfast was below par. Microwaveable food is fine. But with only 1 easily accessible microwave the waiting line was too long. After waiting 10 minutes to use microwave, I gave up. The microwave in the lobby was old and barely usable. The hotel should spend a few hundred dollars to add new and usable machines
