The lift chairs for the pool and hot tub did not work. So my father or was not able to get into the pool or hot tub

Reasonably priced, older establishment with good service and enjoyable hot tub & pool.

We used to LOVE vacationing at the Plantation Inn, but it appears to have not been kept up with. I know they painted the outside of the building a few years ago but when we got there it looked like it hadnt been painted in years and looked old and cheap. The rooms looked bad. Holes in walls, paint chipped, toilet seat doesnt stay on. The breakfast was the only thing kind of ok. There is no phone in the room to contact the front desk so if you need anything you need to walk all the way to the front desk which stinks if its dark out. There were no available pool towels and you cant even get in the pool until 10am which stinks because check out is at 11am. Cant check in until 4pm. For what they charged we could have gotten a nicer room at a motel 6. We will be looking for a new place to stay on vacation. Positive- The front desk staff were so nice and friendly and quick to help when we needed an extra pillow and blanket for the couch. I did appreciate that.

An older motel in need of a little TLC. Check in was fine. Breakfast was ok... Waffles were great... Coffee was watery and weak. They were working on deck and walkways. Hot tub was warm...not hot. Pool is painted a funny looking dark green... not the usual blue color. A non working ice machine and tankless hot water heater just sitting next to the only working ice machine...not attractive. Room in need of some updating. Mildew in the shower... caulking around shower needs to be replaced.

Room was nice with an efficiency kitchen. Clean, modern furniture. Continental breakfast was good (make your own waffles, eggs, sausage, bagels, yogurt, and more). Only complaint is the pool was extremely warm and not very clean (algae growing on the bottom). Worth the price though.

Excellent family and pet friendly. Very good for your pets, easy access to grass area 🐶.

Was black mold in room. Rooms were not cleaned at all doubt they even had new sheets we had to buy blankets to use because beds were disgusting. The pull out sofa that was supposed to be for my 9 year old appeared to have been pissed on and put up without being cleaned, which explains the smell of the room as well. The pool was filthy had chunks of hair in it literally was pulling off literal chunks of hair off of me pieces of paper deteriorating throughout. Hot tub didnt work and is just as gross as pool. Breakfast was edible but barely. Only thing positive about this place is that its at the beach. We left to come to another hotel just down the road instead of extending our booking. Then even after we had checked out tried charging $158 dollars after we paid in full on expedia even charged me $33 dollars before i could check in additional to what i paid in full on expedia. Not sure why they tried to charge the additional $158.00 but pretty sure we left that room cleaner than it was before.

Plantation is a comfortable, reasonably priced property on the island. It is walkable to some things, and a short drive to others. We have stayed here on multiple occasions and would not hesitate to stay here again. This is not to say it is perfect - there are minor things that sometimes need to be fixed/improved - but overall it is a good pick. (For example, on our most recent stay, the desk chair was broken, the tv was set to some sort of visually impaired mode which spoke loudly every time we changed the channel or volume, and the breakfast had no fruit and some issues with crowds and stocking. Last time, the ice machine was intermittently working and we had to ask them to heat the hot tub, etc.)

No elevator upstairs. No housekeeping daily but was able to swap out towels on request. Price more affordable than some area hotels.

Stay was great, friendly front desk employee, safe environment. Hot tub didn’t seem to be functioning as it should but other than that great stay.

Terrible, cockroaches in the rooms, we turned around and checked out and did not bother staying. Looks like barf was in the bathtub too

The AC worked great and kept the room nice and cool. The room itself was clean, but the bathroom definitely needs some attention. There was a foul odor coming from the plumbing and noticeable mold, which isn’t ideal—especially for someone with allergies like me. Overall, the property could benefit from some updates and maintenance.

Pros: The staff is very sweet and nice. They do their best to try and help. Rooms are big and spacious. Close to beach . Cons: Our first room had mold on the wall behind the bed and beside the bed. It was also in the bathroom. The lamp shades are stained yellow so first impression when you walk in the room is not good. They were this way in both rooms. We asked for a different room and were moved. The second room still had mold in the bathroom. Mildew on both rooms shower curtains. The ac unit made a scratching noise each time it kicked on, very loud and it kept my toddler awake. The fridge made a awful buzzing noise as well. The whole night. And the worst part other than the mold was the beds. They are very uncomfortable and hard. Both husband and I woke up so stiff and sore. Top lock chain broken on the door in new room which is a must have if you have a little toddler who knows how to open doors. And lastly, the toilet makes this awful screeching noise each time we flushed it. Overall would not stay here again. The price was decent but not enough to sacrifice my family's comfort. Really wanted to like it but had to leave an honest review. The place requires some upkeep.

The room was dirty,the bed sheets had stains on them,the shower curtain was ripped,the dresser drawers were filthy so we left our stuff in our suit cases. Was not an overall good experience.

The room wasnt as clean as expected. Things were rusted. Hard to find an outlet that would charge phones. Almost $200 to check in at 4 pm and out at 11am. Not even 24 hours. Inside fridge/freezer looked dirty. Floors looked dirty. Not worth what we paid honestly.

Cockroaches in room. Hotel manager said he knows the rooms have roaches and we should have mentioned it with in 20 mins of being in the room. Mildew smell in room. Dirty bathtub

Sheets had staines on them, bathroom is moldy, water damage all around room. Mattresses had also stains on them.

We absolutely will never stay here again. The room was dirty, had mold and smelled like mold, rust in the bathroom and tub was filthy. To get more clean towels we had to turn in the dirty ones at the front just to get more clean towels. The sheets had bad stains luckily we brought our own sheets. Definitely not worth your money staying here way overpriced for this trash.

The floor in our bathroom had hair all over it a used bar of soap in the shower and the bathtub was disgusting with areas of the enamel chipping that were very sharp. The pull out couch was filthy when we unfolded it. There were stains and tons of dog hair on the mattress cover that unzipped and could have been change. When I told the front desk about it they gave me an extra sheet to put on the mattress. The ice machine had the same empty beer cans crushed and setting on it for 3 days and at night all you could smell was marijuana. It was a very disappointing stay. We use to love to stay her with our 4 kids and we recommended it to everyone but we will not be back and will make sure to tell people that it has gone down hill and not a place to stay!

rooms were almost soundproof. outside noise from people going up & down was not noticible like in many other hotels.

The service and staff were amazing! The pool and hot tub were great! The room was clean. Our main complaints were that the TV was very small (slightly larger than a large computer monitor), there was no cable TV (although once we noticed I realized they never claimed there would be. I just assumed it was a typical service), and the bed was uncomfortable. It would have been a great room for a cheaper price but at the price we paid, a little more is expected. It was a good place to lay our heads after spending the day out and about.

We have stayed here several times in the last couple of years. The staff--Kevin especially-- was very attentive, and most of all, the towels were clean and the covers bright white. The only thing I didn't like is that the beds have a cover underneath where the legs are, like a metal skirt is, and they make a booming sound when you get in. We just laughed about it.

Pros: Location is great. Reasonable rate. Breakfast had good variety. Cons: No Wi-Fi the first day, even though they gave me the password as if it was working. Staff said they didn’t tell me because it was down either way so what difference did it make. Not very customer focused. I stayed 3 days and there was no room service ever even though they told me they cleaned rooms every other day.

Walls are paper thin. Could hear the TV in next room all night.

The ceiling was stained and there were stains on the sofa pullout mattress. There was a stain on the floor from the lamp. The mattresses were spring mattresses and creaked a lot, but I you get what you pay for. The front desk staff was friendly though. Our room had plenty of space though. It's very close to the beach and next to a Dollar General if you forget incidentals.

The pictures online looks great. The room was subpar, mattresses were horrible. Any time someone in the room above us walked, ran, jumped on furniture we heard it

The exterior of the property looks great and gives a strong first impression. However, once we got to our room, things were just decent at best. The rooms felt dated, the bathroom definitely needs updating, and the bed was one of the most uncomfortable I’ve ever slept on in a hotel. The walls were also quite thin—we could clearly hear our neighbor snoring throughout the night, which made it hard to get quality rest. This place definitely has potential with some updates. A refresh of the rooms, bathroom improvements, and an investment in more comfortable mattresses would go a long way. But based on the current conditions, I wouldn’t choose to stay here again.

Eh. It’s cheap you get what you pay for. Really annoyed that we asked for someone to clean the room yesterday morning due to our son getting sick. They didn’t do it. When we went back to ask if they could do it that evening they said that cleaners come in the morning( we already asked that morning…) then said that we could just bring them the sheets ourselves and make bed ourselves… service needs to improve.

This was not our first time there typically it’s a great stay unfortunately other guest were fighting, screaming slamming doors. They woke my children up as well as my 73 year-old mother from midnight until 3:47 in the morning. I called the staff 7 times until they finally came, when I threatened to call the police and then the employee knocked on my door and said my name and told the people she’s the one that called which made us feel completely vulnerable and unsafe & My child has autism & she was covering her ears. crying, rocking back-and-forth for 2 1/2 hours because The staff was not making these people leave. It was ridiculous I beg them for a refund so we could leave so we could feel safe the man told me i would get a refund because we felt unsafe there. I felt like the gentleman knocking on my door And saying my name put me in my children and my mother lives in jeopardy The people left and the next morning I was told by a manager Tina that we would be given a full refund to call Expedia and they would receive an email. They would go ahead and issue before refund because they were very sorry. We didn’t go to bed till almost 5 in the morning and when we got back home we did that and they called them and told them oh well we’re willing to give her 20% back (we didn’t even sleep 20%) We had to drive over three hours home after sleeping 3 hours they put our lives in jeopardy. We felt so unsafe and they lied to us i’m praying they make it right

We stayed in September. They do not staff the lobby desk 24 hrs I guess because it’s “off season” my kids locked us out of the room around 2 am we had to sleep outside. The office didn’t open until 8 am the next morning. The guy at the desk was rude about letting me use the office phone. Due to unforseen circumstances my phone charger wasn’t working, my car was dead and I had two small children. I ended up having to walk over a mile with them to the store to get a phone charger because the guy was so off put about letting me use the phone in the lobby to call for assistance. Not all the staff was like that but his attitude and lack of compassion was enough that I will never stay there again

Can not recommend this place enough! The staff was super accommodating and the hotel is super good for the price.

Highly recommend staying elsewhere. If for whatever reason you must stay here, take photos of all of the broken and damaged areas in your room at check in and take a video of your entire room at checkout. The room we stayed in had a broken pipe in the kitchenette. I informed front desk of this at check in and they said maintenance would be by. They never came. I didn’t feel like spending my vacation nagging maintenance requests so I left it as it was and tried to enjoy myself. On checkout they fined me hundreds and insisted there was never a maintenance request and I had damaged the room. Have never had an issue even similar to this with other hotels. Horrible service, horrible musty hotel rooms. Mattresses hard and springs loud, bottoms of the tubs rusted out. Only nice thing I can say is the shower had good water pressure. The pool appears well maintained but is also in constant shade and is always cold. This place is a nightmare. I’d rather stay at econolodge.

Location was great next to food and groceries. Unfortunately we had a bad experience with our room and service. Our toilet started leaking water from the bottom and it smelled like sewer. We informed the front office they said they were going to send someone to check it out but no one stopped by. Upon checkout we notified management but they didnt seem to care about our bad experience.

Staff was super friendly/helpful. Room clean but a little rough (nicks, chips, etc.). Nevertheless, we had a very good experience. No major complaints. Very close to beach, restaurants, etc.

Overall, good experience was had during my stay. Love that they are pet friendly! Close to the beach and all the stores.

Convenient, quiet, affordable, hospitality

It's centrally located

Room was clean and comfortable. The hotel is a 5 min drive to the beach and a 10 min drive to the ferry. No room service during my 3-day stay, but that was fine because the price was so reasonable. Will definitely stay here again next time I'm in Port Aransas!

I loved how close this was to the beach. The rooms were nice and clean, and pet friendly.

The beds were squeaky and uncomfortable. It’s right on the highway so you have noise from the road and it seemed like people were partying all night and staff wasn’t doing anything about it. I wouldn’t recommend it for families. Staff was really friendly and nice but the rooms need some major updates.

Plantation Suites is a good option for a clean and comfortable family hotel in Port Aransas. It’s in need of some updating. The rooms are well sized, and the kitchen area is a plus. The breakfast buffet is very limited in selection. The scrambled eggs are made from a powder. But the coffee, muffins and cereal are all good. I would rate it higher, if it were modernized a bit, especially the bathroom tubs.

Overall pleasant experience, the staff was very nice. Breakfast was decent. Easy access. Only complaint would be the walls are kinda thin or our neighbors were very loud in the room next door and on the balcony/porch.

Breakfast was a disappointment- watery eggs and old sad looking oranges. No orange juice in the dispenser. Outside property is being neglected. Floor of the room was dirty.

The rooms were nice, and the A/C was cold. The only negative to the property were the folks that sat out drinking and smoking late into the evening. Cigarette butts, trash, and beer bottles were left scattered as we walked to breakfast each morning. The breakfast waffles were good, but the eggs, sausage, and potatoes would have to be heated up in the microwave. The staff were friendly, especially the gentleman that work the desk in the morning.

I’ve stayed at Plantation Suites over the years and this year was really a let down. There was obvious signs of needing upkeep around the room. Bedding looked like it could’ve been cleaned better. Bathroom (shower) was not in good clean condition. Breakfast wasn’t good. The pool was dirty. Just overall it felt like it’s gone downhill which is so disappointing as I’ve loved my stays prior to this one.

Such great value for the money! The guy at the front desk is amazing-- courteous and professional. We really enjoy the breakfast, proximity to the beach, plenty of room for our family in the room, and the pool and hot tub.

Everything was wonderful except breakfast both mornings. Eggs were almost not edible. Would have preferred hard boiled choice.

Black mold all over restroom coffee nasty watered down and waffle batter watered down. You waffle ends up not cooked right.
