Everything was perfect at The Grey Gull - amenities, cleanliness, view, staff and even the decors in rooms were well thought through. Our room had everything needed for a home away from home. Staff were extremely welcome and friendly. Even the lobby had books, board games, coffee bar etc. We enjoyed the heated pool with beautiful views around while seagulls flew around!

Outdated and no AC which on an 80° day is needed. No screen on the sliding door so we couldn’t keep it open in the evening to cool the place down. The washer and dryer were broke so we had to spend extra money at a laundromat. We’ve stayed here many times in hopes it’d get a slight renovation. Most likely our last…it’s pretty pricey for not all the amenities to make our stay comfortable.

Room was clean. Hide'a'beds were terrible. Frame was bent and caused the head part to slant down ward. Mentioned it to front desk and they just said "oh, sorry! " the pool was supposed to be heated so took 1 year old down with family to swim only to find water was way too cold for the baby. The hot tub was nice, although it had a brownish buildup around it. Needed a good cleaning. And all the rooms have view if pool. Felt like a fishbowl on display. The room came with dishes to use which came in use. No room service. No housekeeping. But you could put dirty towels in a bag for them to exchange. Close proximity to beach if you don't mind a walk through an eerie dark maze trail. Kids thought that was an adventure. Beach toys at beginning of trail for use was nice. Mostly private access without vehicles use. That was nice. Close to town with restaurants and shops to explore. Decent wi-fi. Plenty of channels with dvd.

I like that the property had a swimming pool and a hot tub and indoors had a sauna. I also enjoyed the fact that we had a full apartment with a bedroom and a kitchen, so we could make our own meals. My only comment that would be considered negative is that the property is dated and needs to be refreshed. Otherwise it’s a really good place to stay while you’re in Ocean Shores.

The facilities are amazing! Having a kitchenette makes all the difference. Being able to relax and prepare our own meals was a game changer for us! We will definitely be back! The only complaint I have is we were asked to leave the hot tub because I had a beer in a glass bottle with me. I can understand if I was like visibly drunk. But I’m over 50 and just wanted to drink one beer in the hot tub. But rules are rules I guess. Oh speaking of rules they don’t real make sense when it comes to pets. You can take you pet with you but you cannot leave them alone in your room and you cannot take them to the pool area. So where are they supposed to go? In the car?

Do not recommend. Overall, a hugely disappointing stay at The Grey Gull - especially considering the high prices of their rooms. We had one pet with us, which is an additional +$25.00 a night. The upcharge seems absurd considering we were put in a pet-friendly room which smelled of pet urine, pet stains ALL OVER the 1989 carpet, and couch. The room was disastrously outdated. One can find cleaner, better condition furniture at Goodwill. In our room, there was a very large, tacky tapestry hanging over the fireplace with a bible verse. The front desk staff in the afternoon/evening, a young woman - was annoyed by questions regarding amenities. Be aware that you must ask staff to use the it, and then it has to be heated up for 10 minutes before one can enter. The pool is a nice amenity, but be advised that it is very loud at all times of day when the pool is open. Do yourself a favor, and spend your money elsewhere.

The property is dated, and that was apparent in the pictures. However, the unit smells like a nursing home. That nasty stale carpet/old food smell permeates the place. Maybe leave a can of Febreeze out? Also some maintenance items: missing/broken pull cord for the master bedroom ceiling fan, stains on the bathroom Formica and a badly torn screen on patio slider (hello bugs).

We stayed in room 314, top corner room, and it was great. The deck is huge overlooking the ocean and pool. Very roomy condo with plenty of sitting room. Big bedroom with ocean view and 2 queen beds. All in all, i would definitely try to get this condo again if looking for lodging in Ocean Shores

Great property but people above us you could hear walking back and forth til 1-2 am. There wasn’t that many check ins the hotel should have spaced them apart better. Otherwise nice room and all the kitchen things you need.

Unit was nicely appointed and comfortable. Walls are a bit thin but understandable with an older property. My one complaint is the staff member wearing a divisive political shirt when we checked in. This hotel came highly rated on Hotels.com, and it wasn’t cheap but we booked based on trusting the guest reviews. It was a disappointment. Front office staff was very preoccupied at my attempt to check in, everything was not quite clean and the room was outdated and gross. I will say - there are a lot of amenities. But they were all old and crappy.

Central location was great, room was comfortable, and the grounds were well maintained. The only downside is reserving a room with an ocean view...and needing binoculars to see the water. Loved the deer and squawking seagulls.

The hotel is wonderful and staff very friendly. The only complaint is not directly related to the hotel. The sand dunes and trees are getting to tall and taking away the view of the ocean from the hotel even when you are on the top floor. The city should top the trees and bushes to bring back the view.

Was a great place to stay. The walk to the beach is very difficult and confusing. Wish it was better marked with posts or flags or something. I know you can mess with the dunes too much but there are some posts out there.

Property is a little dated, but well-maintained, clean, and comfortable. Front desk people efficient and friendly. It was a little too cool and breezy for us to enjoy the pool and hot tub, but we enjoyed walking the roughly quarter-mile trail from behind the hotel down to the beach, and then a walk along the beach. Restaurants, bars, and stores nearby. The room has a comfortable living room and fully equipped kitchenette, so would be very nice for a stay of a week or more.

It looks older, but inside the rooms are so comfortable. It doesnt overlook the beach, but theres a pathwsy to the beach that is beautiful and about .46 miles. The beach is easy to walk once you get on it. To the north and south of it you can drive your vehicle on the beach. Beautiful sunset watching there.

Very nice location with an easy hike to the beach. The room we stayed in was very nicely decorated with a good kitchen setup. Clean and well maintained. The grounds and the pool are also nicely maintained. Good dining options within walking distance.

The Grey Gull offers a comfortable and laid back ocean experience. It is an older hotel with some units more updated than others, but I personally find that to be nostalgic as I have been coming here since childhood and overall it felt clean and suitable for a family vacation. The outdoor pool and hot tub are always enjoyed by our family and I really appreciate that they provide pool towels. I also appreciate the complimentary coffee, tea and hot chocolate bar.

My family used to visit The Grey Gull when I was a child. 30 years later I went back with my boyfriend. We had a great time— walking the beach, renting electric bikes, trying the restaurants, and exploring the area. The hotel is a bit dated but clean, our suite was well stocked with everything we could need, and the staff are friendly. We will be back. :)

This property is older, but clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. The walls are a little thin (probably due to age of hotel), but people were respectful. Location is great. And setup is nice to have separate bedrooms, living room and small kitchen. Currently lots of restaurants close by 7:30/8pm (even on the weekends) so you need to plan accordingly.

The Grey Gull is a very clean, well-maintained hotel. The staff was so helpful & friendly. Great location. My one problem is the description of the room having an ocean view. I guess it can be advertised that way if you look through the break in the bushes, across the dunes, and in the distance. Binoculars or a telescope at check-in would be helpful.

The staff was super friendly and helpful. I loved that I could easily walk to the beach. The lodging was very clean and comfortable. My only complaint is that I had trouble operating the tv, but I didn't bother to get help since I had other things to do besides watch tv. I'm not sure how other hotels are in the area as far as quality to compare, but I would stay here again.
