We used to love this hotel. This stay we found dirty men's underwear under the side of the bed that was not ours. We told the front desk about it and while they agreed it was gross, they said they could do nothing about it since we booked through Expedia. They didn't give us a partial refund, a voucher, nothing. Said they would tell their cleaning staff. Expedia doesn't clean their rooms and something should be able to be done about this. The rooms are becoming dated with minimal upkeep, there was mold starting to grow in the corner of the shower ceiling as well as by the door of the bathroom as there is no door to fully close the shower. The carpet was torn in spots and filthy looking, the paint was chipping. The AC unit kept shutting off throughout the night even though it wouldn't hit the set temperature. The hot tub had a ring of brown around the edge and brown scum floating in the bubbles. We were planning on booking to stay here again on our way home but won't be anymore. Such a shame, a beautiful location but not without basic cleanliness and desire to resolve issues with guests.

Le Riotel Matane est un bel hôtel dans un magnifique secteur. La plage est juste derrière l'hôtel. Le lit que nous avions était très confortable. Le seul bémol est que les murs semblent en carton. En effet le matin nous avons été réveillé par les bruits de lavabos et de douches sans compter les conversations dans la chambre voisine. Les paroles étaient pratiquement audible. Sinon il s'agit d'un hôtel dans un secteur très calme!

Employee at reception did not check us in as our room was not ready but gave us access to the pool and spa. When we came back to the reception, this employee was gone and they said our room was ready but we were not checked in! The employee at this point was nice but a little bit direct.

Lovely hotel, the rooms were clean and so nicely designed. Loved the view of the St. Lawrence River. The front desk employees were extremely friendly! Would definitely return to stay here everytime we are in Matane! We did have trouble making a reservation with the restaurant onsite as the host wasn’t strong in English and we are not strong in French. We eventually got our reservation and when we came back for it a few hour later, waited 45 minutes to be sat, I believe they forgot about us. Once we were sat however the food and service was great!

Shower was not clean and the pool area was very very dirty. The hotel staff was top notch could not ask for any better. Our server in the restaurant was unfriendly and pretended to not speak any English even tho the words we were using were the same in English or French. We used google translate to communicate but still needed to have another guest translate for us. The helpful guest also commented on how the server was just being difficult.

It was a lovely newer hotel. We enjoyed that we could eat dinner right there and it was a very nice dinner. It was a little more expensive than we usually do but we were celebrating so we just enjoyed not having to leave the hotel.
