The Fairmont Montebello exceeded our expectations. From easy check in and parking to well kept gardens and impressive lobby ( and convenient bar. The pools both inside and out were never too busy and there were ample activities. The food options were ample and food was delicious. If you needed a break from the resort, the town was walkable with more food options, including a local Fromagerie. The spa was relaxing and a nice escape from all the activities and heat. Lastly the staff were all so good to us, even down to the Fairmont dog Vic! Merci!

Spacious room with river view. Lovely and clean. Well maintained by house keeping. Excellent breakfast buffet. Good value considering all of the first rate options available. Really enjoyed the pool. 23 m makes it great for swimming laps. The pool house is a beautiful timber structure with very high painted ceiling. Lots of loungers. Comfortable temperatures in and out of the water. Really enjoyed the trails on the property. Saw a beautiful red fox. Lots of deer tracks. Quiet and beautiful with a light snow fall. The grand lobby was decorated for Christmas. Very festive with twinkling lights and lots of decorated trees. A lovely pre Christmas getaway!

Very plaisant and relaxing. I was disappointed that the ice rink was closed and the pool is not heated enough (cold water). The restaurant is very good for dinner but not that great for breakfast- very oily and overpriced. Staff is very friendly and welcoming.

Extremely disappointed this time round things were not to the Fairmont Standard. The rooms are outdated, there was a problem with the air conditioning and the shower was on go slow mode and water took a little time to warm up. We headed to the pool ans Sauna area and thr Suna was filthy & dirty and the changing rooms needed attention also the gym is out dated and over used. Really disappointed & sad as its such an amazing property.

Great family place, activities(kayak, bikes raquets..) all included which is great... lots of things to do.. hiking trails, tennis courts, pools.. Food was "ok.". not so great value for the price. Service was ok Furniture and carpets are tired. While it seems like some updates have been done within the last 10 years... it just seems still a bit tired.

Montebello is a charming property - when you are there you know you're somewhere special and with history. However, I'm not sure it's quite living up to the Fairmont name and $$. Service was terrific (especially the gentleman who checked us in!) and our dinner in the main restaurant was outstanding. However, some parts of the property are in dire need of an update, most notably the fitness center and spa change rooms.

Very safe parking area not far from bldg. swimming pool and hot tub perfect. Tennis court inside surface not playable for tennis and pickleball. Staff all very friendly and helpful. Room and bed very comfortable and quiet, renovated bathroom large and exceptionally good. Lovely grounds for walking by the river. Central fireplace in lobby is a great place for sitting and reading.

The Fairmont is a beautiful old hotel in a beautiful area by the Ottawa River. The service and location is wonderful. Our room was spacious and clean with a small bathroom but seemed shop worn. The Hotel is in a park like setting, with beautiful well maintained landscaping. But the building and furnishings are in need of renovation. It’s age is definitely making itself evident.

We’ve stayed at Le Chateau Montebello many times over the past 20 years and were unfortunately disappointed with this stay. We were advised to not drink the tap water and to request bottled water from the front desk. We gave up after three calls. The pools were rather dirty. The breakfast buffet was no where near the quality that it used to be and the pub restaurant was closed. It just seemed that all the little things that we used to be able to count on with a five-star hotel were not there any more.

Three nights stay with family. Had visitors from the USA for a family reunion. Exceptional services throughout the resort. Very clean comfortable rooms with many food options. Close to the village within walking distance. There are so many outdoor and indoor facilities for every taste and suitable for all ages. Many thanks for all staffs who made our stay so memorable.

Très bel endroit, le personnel est gentil et attentionné. Les lieux sont beaux et parfait pour s’y promener et apprécier la nature. Cependant, pour ce qui est de la chambre, c’est très très décevant. À presque $500/nuit, avoir des tapis pleins de taches et usées, c’est innaceptable. Il y a aussi beaucoup de cognements de plomberie qui rends le séjour et les nuits désagréables. Le lit et les oreillers sont aussi à remplacer. Manger sur place aux Chantignoles fut cependant excellent. Prévoyez au minimum $150/pers. sans alcool/vin. Au final, nous n’y retournerons pas.

The staff were amazing, the property beautiful, but our room was pretty shabby for the price, wall paper was coming off the walls in several areas, mini fridge didn't work very well, so a second fridge was brought to the room and not plugged in just left in the middle of the room, TV was a little doggy, bed was certainly well worn. For a two night stay at over $1200 you expect a little more.

A 5 star rated property that needs updating badly, room was rather shabby and not up to a 5 star standard, bathroom badly needed refurbishment and the room was excessively cold as the a/c was as old and the temperature couldn’t be altered, unfortunately it was cold at night we were unable to get any heat out of it. On a positive note the grounds and facilities were excellent and there are plenty of activities to keep the kids entertained, but boy does this property need a major renovation.

I liked the staff and location. I did not liked that the mattress was horrible, room had no AC, coffee maker did not work properly, coffee was missing already in the box, and no accommodations so we can have breakfast when we asked for a spot on the patio, so we could have the dog with us. Paid 580 $ for one night, it is the worst experience we had so far!.

The property and experience are amazing. No other place like it. We have stayed there several times. The only downfall is that the rooms have not all been renovated. We were given a room on the 4th floor this time, and the bathroom was a challenge. Toilet oversprays when it flushes, sink has a slow drain, and the shower was difficult to control from too hot to too cold. Bathroom has a pedestal sink, very tiny and no where to put anything. Room was very hot and stuffy even tho we turned the heat off when we arrived, and it was -15 outside. Bed mattress needs replacing, bed was very creaky and hard to sleep when one of us even turned over! Property is managed incredibly well tho, and every staff member went beyond being pleasant. Did we just receive this room bc we booked thru Expedia?

We had our daughters wedding at the Fairmont Montebello and honestly everyone should have their wedding there! The place is gorgeous, the rooms are beautiful and rustic and the beds are super comfortable. But honestly the staff and service are impeccable!!! They were so accommodating and friendly. Definitely recommend this place and definitely going back!!! Thank you so much!!!

The reception was horrible. Our room was not ready for over an hour past the check in time (which has never happened to me in my life). They were annoyed when we asked a couple of times when it will be ready. They said that it isn’t their problem that we came an hour earlier than the check in time although I called the day before and the reception said we can come in early to see if the room is ready. The carpets in the room weren’t properly cleaned. The rooms itself were really old and not well managed. The only good thing about this hotel is the surrounding space with the river, which anyone can enjoy without checking in to the hotel. We wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone as it’s not a good deal for the price you pay.

I called the morning of our stay and asked if early check in was possible and it was confirmed we could arrive anytime that we were put in a room that was availalbe. We arrived and the front desk told us our room was not available and we would have to wait. We waited 30 minutes and went back to the desk and the front desk was dismissive and said we were not told we could check in early and that the room was still not available. Other issue is the pillows in the hotel are terrible flat as can be no head support at all. Positive side that was one of the best breakfasts I have ever had. My wife really enjoyed the spa.

We paid extra to book a jacuzzi room but on arrival found that the room was on the basement level with no windows. We asked to switch to a different room and were informed by the staff that the price difference will be refunded. We spoke to Expedia and clearly they came back to dispute that the hotel will not refund the difference. I am not sure who is lying but this has left a not very nice feeling. Otherwise the hotel was fine and comfortable.

It was our first time at Fairmont Montebello and it was wonderful. The property is gorgeous and there is so much to do. The restaurants are great and the staff are really amazing. We went for a mini break and felt relaxed within about 30 seconds of arriving. The Grill restaurant is truly fantastic!

Amazing historic, classic hotel and club with many things to do for kids and adults alike! It was quite an introduction to Quebec for me. Both the inside of the hotel and the grounds were lovely. The canoeing/kayaking was amazing, not too busy, and a nice touch being included in your stay! Gorgeous hiking/running trails which include both opportunities to see wildlife and a historic mansion (Manoir Papineau).

The property view of the Ottawa river was picturesque. The grounds were nice and seating along the path overlooking the river was a relaxing place. The hotel provided a rustic old canadiana feel and charm. The washroom in the hotel room is small and needs an update. The view of the river was nice, but overall the room felt dark and gloomy. The carpeting in the room was not flat in some areas. More snack options at the bar, as was available for room service would be a good idea. We waited for a shuttle to bring us back to the hotel from the golf club house. It never came! Overall, we had a wonderful relaxing weekend. It would be nice to have more evening activities or music to entertain the guests. The buffet breakfast was delicious! Staff very friendly!

It was our first time at Fairmont Montebello and it was wonderful. The property is gorgeous and there is so much to do. The restaurants are great and the staff are really amazing. Very limited dining options. Don’t sleep in and miss breakfast or lunch. Mid afternoon and Nothing was available (main lobby bar lacked staff to serve food while other restaurants closed between standard meal time, and we couldn’t even order in room dining outside meal times. Tried. No staff responded after 30 minutes of trying). We ended up leaving the hotel and going into town

Had a very expensive but tasteless dinner. I think this resort is past its best before date. Im sure it was great in the eighties. Slow internet unless you pay for a daily upgrade. No fire in fire place. Tired carpet.

Le personnel est très gentil. Le décor central est magnifique. les restos sont de belle qualité. Mais nous avons été très déçus pour la chambre ; pas de robe de chmbre pour aller à la piscine, prendre une douche avec l'eau jusqu'aux chevilles parce que le drain est défectueux, pas d'eau froide à l'évier de la sdb. J'ai vu des centaines de chambres de bien meilleure qualité pour bcp moins que $470/nuit.

Grounds very nice adjacent to the river and nice walking on grounds and adjacent parks Canada site. Easy walk to town. Lots of activities available. Disappointed with dinner at Aux Chantignoles. Service was very good but premium location and price had only mediocre meals for both myself and partner. I expected better.
