Auberge Montebello

Bien que la pénurie de main d'œuvre frappe de plein fouet cet établissement, le service était dans les circonstances très bien. Endroit bien situé et à distance de marche des services. Belle piscine et endroit propre. Nécessiterais quelques rénovations.

Building had an old classic look but bedrooms were dated but clean. We were disappointed the restaurant that was advertised was closed and the bar that was also advertised was also closed.

Accès a la piscine, une vrai joke, passé par le coté du bâtiment et le stationnement le tout sur une pente, aucun accès de l'intérieur de la bâtisse !! Ah oui et que dire de la chambre de bain/toilette, il y a aucun lavabo danc cette pièce, dans un autre pièce

The room needs some updating - a broken blind, very dark bed coverings. It is very difficult to get to the pool and unsafe for those with mobility issues, unless you have a room on the lower level that opens to the pool. Although the property wasn't fully booked, we were overlooking the parking lot rather than the river. Location suited us for our purposes. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Now that the pool is not connected to the hotel itself, and it’s separately by a gravel/dirt path

Very clean and friendly management. It is such a pleasure to stay in an elegant, old-style, historic "mansion' instead of another cookie-cutter concrete block that defines most modern hotels. And very nice to be able to walk to all attractions of Montebello. Very nice river views.

Sheets were dirty, the place smelled like curry.

Bar was not open, however we asked for wine glasses and were provided with clean glasses daily. Very clean throughout the hotel. Staff were very friendly!

Dirty sheets. Really run down unfortunately.

Salubrité inconcevable. Mes employés ont dormi tout habillé. Ils ont cherché un hébergement ailleurs tellement c'était insalubre.

The Auberge Montebello was a beautiful place to stay with a lot of history. Our room viewed the river and was very comfortable. A very short walk down to the marina for the sunset was nice. The hospitality was wonderful.

The hotel and room were clean and quiet. Breakfast was good. However, room was dated: older uncomfortable bed, older smaller TV with limited channels, noisy window air conditioner, no grab bars in bathtub, cheap soap and shampoo, very thin toilet paper and tissues.

The internet was reliable. We enjoyed our stay.

Bed needs to be replaced

This is an ageing hotel without any extras. The A/C was good, and the waffle for breakfast was fine. This is a "you get what you pay for" kind of place. That being said, there are fun quirks to it what made us enjoy the stay a bit more. The room we had was strange...the tub/toilet were in a separate room from the sink. The place had a smell to it we couldn\'t quite place. It wasn\'t an offensive odour...just "there". The owner seems run off his feet...we had to wait at the desk for 10 mins before he appeared to check us in. All in all, we probably won\'t stay there again, but it seems the building is up for sale, so that may not be an option for long anyway.

To keep this relevant, we paid $210.00 for a night here where down the street it costs $485.00(and has a two night min stay) at the Chateau Montebello. My expectations were not high and we got what we paid for. If you need a inexpensive hotel for the night that is clean and the staff are welcoming then you will do okay here. If you are expecting anything more, then don't stay here. The hotel is very dated and basic. It is not pretty, the hallways are cool(saving on the heating bill), the bed mattress was just passable for one night, and should have been replaced years ago. If any hotel is serious about being successful, the most basic thing you need is a good quality mattress. They failed miserably here. I won't be back, but as mentioned, it all comes down to your expectations and your budget.

I asked for ustensils, bucket of glass and 2 glasses. The guy at the reception told me i was asking for a lot of things and said not to steal them ....

I have mixed feelings about my stay at the Auberge. It began with my wife and I catching a terrible virus the week before our trip. When I called the property owner to change our reservation to the following week, he was extremely rude and did not want to help me at all. Expedia saved the day and I was able to reschedule the trip for a week later. Once we arrived, the staff were amazing and were really kind and helpful. The property is really clean and well maintained. The hotel is old, I man really old and it is starting to show, the owners seem tired and ready to give up (we got some real Faulty Towers feel with Basil and Sybil vibes). The rooftop terrace is a real shambles and the pool water was bright green. Beautiful location, simple breakfast, staff was super helpful once at hotel. Again its clean, but tired and a little worn out. Our king size bed was okay, but my wife and I couldn't get comfortable. The sheets on the bed were a poly/cotton mix I think...it was a bit odd. Also, the auberge is up for sale and this could be the reason for our lack luster stay.

Very friendly person and the service was great.

Was very well received. The owner was extremely accommodating . I had some tools in my non lockable pickup bed and he let me store them in locked space inside . I highly recommend, the place is very well kept and very quiet

Owners of the hotel were a pleasure to deal with. Friendly and outgoing. Hotel was clean and is being updated. Bed was one of the best beds I've slept in, room was very clean. Yes there's some room for improvement with the drapes and shower curtain but given time I'm sure all these minor issues will be taken care of. Breakfast was complimentary and staff are there to assist unlike other hotels. I do not understand some of the negative reviews but some people are expecting 5 star brand new facilities when it clearly states they are not. We did not use the pool as we were in town for a wedding and spent two nights, leaving early the next morning. The town is quaint, has some great restaurants and some amazing stores.

We had a lovely stay at the Auberge. The owners are very attentive and friendly. The rooms are a little dated but still very comfortable. The pool is great. Everything is spotless clean. It's an easy walk from the Auberge to all the downtown amenities, but still extremely quiet.

1er nuit décevante matelas renfoncé mal dormi 2e nuit ont m as envoyer dans une grande chambre vip mais vraiment désuet aumoin j ai bien dormit lendemain matin le Gerant était au service pour déjeuner et me dit devant plein d autres client qu il a reçu mon évaluation médiocre de l autre soir et à voix haute après je ne l ai pas reçu avant mon départ une chance pour lui !!! Car c est vraiment pas professionnel d avoir fait sa devant d autre client !!!donc endroit à éviter 😜

Good location, only approximately 10 minutes walk to the main commercial area. 10 minutes drive to Parc Omega.

The property eas clean and well maintained. We were well welcomed. It is close to the Montebello Cheese, the Bistro and Manoir Papineau.

Excellent location along the Ottawa River. Great cross country ski trails in the area.

Le service n’est qu’en anglais. Les lits sont tout justes confortables. Les chambres sont petites. La décoration est datée du siècle dernier.

Netter Hotelier, großes Zimmer, ruhige Lage. Alles etwas in die Jahre gekommen, aber OK. Minuspunkt beim Frühstück: Toast und Bagels lagen in Supermarkt Verpackungen vor, aus denen die Gäste sie (ohne Zange o. ä.) herausholen konnten.

Friendly check-in. Place looks to be run by one person, owner. Very dated French-Canadian decor, bathroom looked updated. Everything very clean. Breakfast is Continental with waffles, bananas but not other fruit, no yogurt. Good coffee.

I don't like the fact there was no elevator, the hallway was very hot, wifi connection isn't good, old tv, old air conditioning,and the pool wasn't very clean. But the staff is very nice, the room is clean, not much choices for breakfast but it was fine.

Very dated. When we booked and prepaid our stay included breakfast but when we checked in we were told we had to pay extra if we wanted to eat before 8am. Our plans meant we had to eat before 8am so we paid extra and breakfast was very disappointing. Coffee was undrinkable. Waffles were the only 'warm' item and a few bananas were the only fruit availble. Convenient location but skip the breakfast.
