The hotel staff was amazing friendly and easy to talk to. We drive an EV and specifically chose this location because it marketed EV charging. When we arrived we found that they only offered a wall plug 110 and very slow charging. The charger on site was out of order and has been for some time.

The resort is absolutely stunning. We stayed in a King Lodge room and it was perfect. Just as pictured. The veiws were incredible. Really enjoyed the hot tub and pool. The dining room was excellent as well.

The best is the location, the view! I wish the owner of this property came as an undercover guest. Obviously it’s hard to get qualified staff on Pender when you only pay minimum wages although the price level should give room for improvement. More than once we thought of giving the breakfast room a chance but each time we turned around not only because of the teenager with the heavy metal through her nose but also because of the smell of the room. Even some flowers could have brightened up the place. One of the two pools were closed so the remaining one was filled like a fish soup and the management couldn’t care less. As a result I recommend not to pick a room close to the pool unless you are hearing impaired. To end on a positive note - the food was delicious. We’ll, if you are lucky enough to get a table in the evening even as a hotel guest.

I had seen a lot of mixed reviews of this property but it ended up being wonderful. The balcony and views from the Kings Suite are all amazing, the restaurant had great food and the flowers are grounds around the property were immaculate. There was an issue with the pool and gym before we arrived but we were notified and it was resolved by the end of our first day there. Would love to come back and visit again!

We had an Ocean View room. The view was incredible! The room could use refurbishing though. It was looking very worn - carpet had large stains, the entry door was very hard to open as the door hardware was not properly installed. Paint was due for an update. Some of the gym equipment was out of order. The bed was very comfortable and cozy. Food in the restaurants was excellent and reasonably priced. Staff were all very friendly and helpful.

I absolutely love staying here for the peace and quiet but I do notice that the property is not well kept. The hot tub jets were not working, the cafe was closed. The hot tub and pool beside the water was closed. However the restaurant is amazing and has great staff! The front desk staff were very knowledgeable and helpful throughout my stay and don’t miss the spa!

Great location & view! Its a great spot for families, stayed in the 2 bed villa. However, the amenities wasnt that great! one of the 2 pools were closed during our 4 days stay, eventhough when asked from the staff we were promised it will opened soon. The whole resort ended up in the kids pool and it was over crowded! Also, the gym wasn't that great, half the equipment were out of order and the rest wasn't even maintained properly. And the playground was closed as well!

Our room was spacious and clean with a gorgeous harbour view. All grounds were very well maintained. Though off-season the restaurants were open, the outdoor pool was inviting to soak in heated water and we never felt something’s missing. Only the gym needs a bit more attention. Over all, Poet's Cove Resort is a great location to enjoy a couple of days in calm surroundings off any beaten track.

We like the serenity of the place. Very peaceful. However, our balcony was a very dirty and showers and bathtub needed more attention for cleanliness. No ice available for our medication‘s that needed to be kept cold.

The view from our room was beautiful. Food was delicious in the onsite restaurant, bed was comfortable too. They needed to have done some spring cleaning as there was moss & weeds growing on our patio. We were placed in the room right under the stairs to the restaurant and the backside of the elevator, not sure why when the place wasn’t at full capacity.

Staff were nice but the hotel is in dire need of a deep clean and some TLC. We were put in a pet friendly room without being told and there were huge pee stains on the floor and large scratches on the door and it smelled of dogs. Know it’s an older hotel but a good clean and some minor repairs would go a LONG way. View was amazing from the hotel.

The setting and geography is beautiful. We really enjoyed the location on the beach especially at low tide. The resort itself however appears to need a good scrub and update. We did have a nice stay, but here are some of the things that surprised us given the high per night price tag at the villa… Cobwebs up high around windows/drapery and very dusty/dirty window screens Food found in pull-out couch/bed Stained carpets / furniture Couch/chair cushions worn out In twin bedroom… Bed frame and box spring didn’t fit mattress causing bed frame to jut out and cause hazard for shins. Bathroom fan emits a horrible buzzing sound from switch. Ants in the villa. Carbon monoxide detector sitting on mantle with batteries loose and not installed Limited parking and very dusty parking lot near villas. Hopefully in the low season these things will be addressed. The resort has so much potential if the management stays on top of things.

I have been to poets cove many times over the years. My last 2 visits have been beyond disappointing because of the filthy cottages. Back in the day it felt like luxury to stay there. Now it’s just dirty. It honestly just feels so disrespectful to the customers who pay very high prices for these accommodations. The grounds are kept beautifully but once you enter the cottage you feel like the owners of this establishment just don’t care and have zero standards for the comfort of the guests.

Amazing property! The grounds were clean and beautiful. Seemed like there was a shortage of parking for the amount of rooms at the resort. The king lodge room we had was nice, but very dusty. I don’t think it had been properly cleaned in a very long time. Paper and plastic cups, and powdered coffee whitener took away from the high end resort feel, even though you still pay top dollar. The “king bed” was also the old style with the two top mattress’s, which made for a terrible sleep for my wife and I. Staff at reception and the restaurant were really good. Great food, good service.

The location of the property was beautiful and has a lot of potential. The resort itself is run down, dirty, and in dire need of a renovation and deep clean. There was no management on site, just young uninterested workers who looked like they just rolled out of bed - unbrushed hair, wearing dirty oversized pyjamas. The room was NOT clean - greasy fingerprints, dust, mold, stains. Ripped old furniture, musty towels. It was in shambles. The staff was not helpful. They come to clean your room at dinner time instead of during the day while you’re out. It’s sad because there are countless reviews like this one which leads me to believe management is 100% aware of the issues at hand, but has yet to do anything to remedy this situation for future guests. Marketing yourself as luxury resort in these conditions is misleading and a straight up lie. Will not be coming back.

We booked 2 days for our Anniversary in the King Suite. Upon arrival checking in the front receptionist that dealt with us was professional until the other male receptionist started complaining out loud he had to talk to upcoming guest for 35 minutes on the phone which both receptionist laughing and complaining in front of guest checking in. Very unprofessional behaviour for front staff. When we received a phone call saying our room was clean we checked our room out. Detail was not look at for example inside the armoire where the tv and fridge were it was full of dust. The patio was not swept where chocolate peanuts under the patio chairs and pine needles on the cement floor. I read in other comment the place needs a lot of updating but I looked past that hoping it wasn’t so bad. They were right… wallpaper peeling off the walls, furniture stained, carpets have large stains, end table covered in big water stains and the bed very uncomfortable … looking under sheet a very old mattress that sinks in the centre. Now the hot tub above reception covered in pine cone with needles getting in our suit. We decided to try the hot tub below near cafe which was clean but didn’t work properly. Getting dark we thought the lights would come on so we could see where we were walking through pool area… husband 70 having to use our flashlight to find our way out. Maybe they were trying to save electricity I don’t know. Restaurant over priced! Would we come back- no!

Loved our king room with the ocean view deck. It was warm outside so we needed to use the small fan and ceiling fan for our whole stay. The small TV was on its last legs. Dining on site was just ok. Good idea to bring snacks & drinks from home as there is a small fridge. The highlight on Pender was hiking Mount Norman.

The pictures make this room seem a lot bigger than what it is. Had I actually had some better pictures I would not have booked this room. There was also no Air Conditioning and the room was 28° inside. Making our stay quite uncomfortable. The water that came out of the bathtub spigot was also yellow and had a sulphuric smell to it. I understand if it’s on a well but there could be filters added if so.

The balcony view was extraordinary. With no A/C, the room was too hot for good sleeping. Andour toilet was noisy - kept flushing throughout the night. The food at the restaurant was good, but staffing issues - kitchen and servers - made service quite slow.

Our accommodation in an oceanfront lodge room was nice, although the resort is a bit tired for the price. The view and the deck were great! The room itself was nice, although I found the mattress to be a bit soft. I enjoyed the desk/chair as a seating option. There were limited breakfast options during the week (no gluten free in the cafe) as we had no cooking facilities. There were actually few breakfast options on the island Mondays and Tuesdays. It would be advantageous for the cafe to have a packaged egg frittata (or something similar) and a fruit cup available. These issues may be a result of staffing shortages. Overall a great stay, with lots of places to explore on the island!

We had an Ocean View room. The view was incredible! The room could use refurbishing though. It was looking very worn - carpet had large stains, the entry door was very hard to open as the door hardware was not properly installed. Paint was due for an update. Some of the gym equipment was out of order. The bed was very comfortable and cozy. Food in the restaurants was excellent and reasonably priced. Staff were all very friendly and helpful.

Despite the fact it’s located on a cove, the rooms are hot because of the direct sun on the windows. AC IS NEEDED! The staff is wonderful but often the resort is short staffed and not all venues can be readily available (a restaurant closed due to short staff and breakfast, although advertised, was also not available). The rooms are awesome (but hot). Overall, we enjoyed our stay mainly because of the staff and our large deck!

Our room was spacious and clean with a gorgeous harbour view. All grounds were very well maintained. Though off-season the restaurants were open, the outdoor pool was inviting to soak in heated water and we never felt something’s missing. Only the gym needs a bit more attention. Over all, Poet's Cove Resort is a great location to enjoy a couple of days in calm surroundings off any beaten track.

I had seen a lot of mixed reviews of this property but it ended up being wonderful. The balcony and views from the Kings Suite are all amazing, the restaurant had great food and the flowers are grounds around the property were immaculate. There was an issue with the pool and gym before we arrived but we were notified and it was resolved by the end of our first day there. Would love to come back and visit again!

The resort is situated in a beautiful location. Staff were extremely welcoming and learned my name immediately, and remembered details I shared sour myself. The food in the restaurant was excellent as well. I got great recommendations for local sights and activities. The hot tub had low water, and one of the walls in my room had some damage, but overall the rooms were lovely and the amenities were great (I still used the hot tub daily, I just couldn’t use the jets). I had such a tranquil stay, I would (and will) return in a heartbeat. Of note, if you are staying in a suite in the inn, plates and cutlery are not provided (nor is a microwave), so if you are bringing any food, it would be wise to bring basic dining accessories.

The property and surrounding area are beautiful. The view from the room was spectacular. Staff at the front desk and at the restaurant were welcoming and accommodating. The only suggestion I have for improvement is moving away from disposable, single-use plastic wrapped cups to reusable cups and mugs in the rooms.

Checkin / checkout not super friendly- Live entertainment on Saturday which was nice - but that meant you couldn’t get in the restaurant….and there is nowhere else close by to eat. They don’t take reservations! IMO - they should limit the time for a seating if they are that busy. When we did get to have a meal - the Food was pretty good - and service was good. I was surprised there were no “lotions” in the room . And it seemed that more umbrellas at the pool would be good - and some on the patio for the lodge would be good - as there is no shade on the front patios. Not a problem for me - but most people would not enjoy it - and I rarely saw anyone on the upstairs decks. The location is not super convenient- u have to drive everywhere if u want to hike or Swim or have a meal Elsewhere

We booked 2 days for our Anniversary in the King Suite. Upon arrival checking in the front receptionist that dealt with us was professional until the other male receptionist started complaining out loud he had to talk to upcoming guest for 35 minutes on the phone which both receptionist laughing and complaining in front of guest checking in. Very unprofessional behaviour for front staff. When we received a phone call saying our room was clean we checked our room out. Detail was not look at for example inside the armoire where the tv and fridge were it was full of dust. The patio was not swept where chocolate peanuts under the patio chairs and pine needles on the cement floor. I read in other comment the place needs a lot of updating but I looked past that hoping it wasn’t so bad. They were right… wallpaper peeling off the walls, furniture stained, carpets have large stains, end table covered in big water stains and the bed very uncomfortable … looking under sheet a very old mattress that sinks in the centre. Now the hot tub above reception covered in pine cone with needles getting in our suit. We decided to try the hot tub below near cafe which was clean but didn’t work properly. Getting dark we thought the lights would come on so we could see where we were walking through pool area… husband 70 having to use our flashlight to find our way out. Located in a lovely area. Buildings were nice, but looked like they needed some care - paint needed touch ups, fixture in hall missing, chairs could use reupholstering. Overpriced food. Didn't use pools, tennis courts, or other amenities.Other guests followed the quiet hours, so slept well. Sunsets spectactular!

This is a beautiful resort on a small island between Vancouver and Vancouver Island. It inhabits a peaceful bay with lovely facilities. You do need some form of transportation to get around the Island and we had a hire car for that purpose. But the accommodation, the staff, the location and the experience were all top rate.

With a bit more investment in staffing and the facility this could be truly amazing. The facility overall is very pretty, beautiful location with a nice marina. Food was great but pricey. Room clean but bed mattress hard. Furniture showing its age. Seemed short staffed so some areas not in use, like half the restaurant and upper patio. Such a shame as the views from the upper patio were spectacular. If ownership wanted to be top notch they could. Invest in the future and not just drain profits. So close to greatness.

Warm pool overlooking the ocean. Great food overlooking the ocean and if you arrive by boat a great jumping off point to many islands in the gulf like Saturna, Tumbo, Maine etc.

Checkin / checkout not super friendly- Live entertainment on Saturday which was nice - but that meant you couldn’t get in the restaurant….and there is nowhere else close by to eat. They don’t take reservations! IMO - they should limit the time for a seating if they are that busy. When we did get to have a meal - the Food was pretty good - and service was good. I was surprised there were no “lotions” in the room . And it seemed that more umbrellas at the pool would be good - and some on the patio for the lodge would be good - as there is no shade on the front patios. Not a problem for me - but most people would not enjoy it - and I rarely saw anyone on the upstairs decks. The location is not super convenient- u have to drive everywhere if u want to hike or Swim or have a meal Elsewhere

Overall it's a nice resort but it is getting pretty run down and could definitely use updates. There are no screens on the windows or doors, and no air conditioning. The furniture has a lot of wear and tear, the room smelled musty, and the elevator was broken. The restaurant was expensive and the food was okay. The grounds are well kept, with two nice pools. The scenery and view were the best part. We had a nice stay but I personally wouldn't go back unless it had a bit of an over haul.

We found our Villa and upkeep around property to be quite poor. There’s no question location and views are great but it feels like villas are worn out and not overly clean. The carpets in our unit were worn out, torn and dirty. There was noticeable dirt in many areas like deck and windows and the patio furniture was breaking apart with mismatched cushions that didn’t really fit chairs. I can understand things wearing out and not being in brand new condition but for near $700 a night having things clean and not breaking apart doesn’t seem like a big ask. I will say pools were great for our daughter and restaurant was enjoyable.

We have really enjoyed our stays at Poets Cove. The amenities are great and the accommodations very comfortable for our family of 5. The property is very clean, however, it is showing its age and could definitely use a refresh. The living room furniture in our cabin was old and worn. Updated furniture would go a long way to improving the overall experience. You will be very happy as long as you are not expecting a 5 star property. Still the best resort of all the Gulf Islands, in my opinion.
