What a beautifully well kept property, and generous, accommodating staff. You feel like they want you there. Very dog friendly, so many nice details. I love this place and will never stay anywhere else when I'm back in Macon. Thank you Joanna, Gloria, Ashley, and the kitchen staff who sent my breakfast to go. This is a special place.

This stay was an unexpected highlight of our trip. The house is wonderfully decorated with beautiful antiques. There were many comfortable rooms to sit in outside of our bedroom. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The complimentary breakfast was truly gourmet. They set up a small table for me and my wife in front of a fireplace in a private room. The food and service were outstanding, and it was fun to meet the chef, who gave us the recipes. They even had a free charger for my electric car. And it was fun to see photos of people like Oprah Winfrey who had stayed there. I wish I could give six stars!

Beautiful historic inn with nice outdoor courtyard. Staff is extremely friendly and attentive. Lovely hot breakfast included with our stay. Would have loved to experience the appetizers offered from 5:00 to 7:00, but unfortunately our arrival was delayed.

There was a full bar, if you wished to order a cocktail and sit out on the lovely porch and enjoy the late afternoon. The room was comfortable, the bed was great and breakfast was delicious. Big kudos to the friendly staff as well. Only one comment. Our bathroom floor had a big chunk of tile and a couple of small ones chipped out of it, right at the entry. This was not pointed out to us when they took us to our room. That chunk and those small pieces were nicely pieced back (loosely) together again, like it was just cracked. Perhaps this just happened and needed to be dealt with. However, for safety reasons, it should have been pointed out to us and taped down until it could be repaired. We slipped on it (no damage done) and that is when we realized it wasn’t just cracked, but full blown chips of loose tile.

Our weekend in Macon was delightful thanks to the 1842 Inn. Very clean and quiet. We were in the cottage behind the main house and loved it! From check in to check out everything was great. The staff is outstanding and made us feel so relaxed and special. Don’t miss the Mint Juleps at cocktail time!

Beautiful property in historic area. We stayed in the Dogwood room on the first level. The room is quiet and loaded with period decorations. The very best part was sipping wine on the porch and having hors D’oeuvres delivered. Great staff and very comfortable stay.

The 1842 Inn is beautiful property & the staff is very friendly. There was a pub within walking distance for dinner and breakfast was delish. The room faced the back courtyard and was clean & well decorated. The queen bed was comfortable. We will stay again if in Macon!

Beautiful property. Helpful & friendly staff at all levels. Most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. Delicious breakfast. The overall ambiance complimented our tour of the Hay House and Cannonball House. The soft rumble of nearby trains soothed us to sleep in the John Gresham room. The only negative thing is the bathroom - the wallpaper is peeling off and the shower curtain kept clinging to me during my shower.

Stay at the 1842 Inn if you want the vibe of an old southern mansion. It is clean, the rooms are furnished with antiques, yes some plaster is peeling, but the bed is comfortable. The staff is super friendly. The breakfast in the courtyard was enjoyable. I recommend for those that are not too fussy though, since the vibe is definitely OLD southern home.

We booked 2 night the past weekend after first night we had to check out, our bedsheets were very dirty looked like someone peed in bed smelling/dirty bed covers toilet dirty and tub filthy we were very disappointed of the stay there on the stair case looked like it needs vacuuming and dusting.. :(

This is a wonderful inn. The property is historic and beautiful. The room was gorgeous. The bed was comfortable. The amenities were outstanding. The staff was incredibly helpful and pleasant. The breakfast was good though I will say it was not as large a quantity of food as I would have expected. And the area around the property is historic and beautiful as well. It is walkable to get to downtown Macon, which was helpful. I would definitely strongly recommend this day. And BTW, the collection of photos of celebrities that have stayed at the same property was mind blowing. Everyone from Oprah to Barbara Eden.

We stayed in the Wilson room and though it was a very pretty room, it was too warm at night. There was a fan in the room which helped some. It was not comfortable. When we talked to management, they said there really wasn’t anything that could be done.

Really was everything we’d hoped it’d be and then some. From the second we stepped inside we were transported to another place and time. We were received by Sarah, who was filling in for someone else, and she set the tone for the entire stay. Hope she finds herself at that check-in desk more, she was fun and gracious and welcoming and informed. We were both beaming after meeting her. The rooms were stunning and clean and so comfortable. We’ve been all over the country on this trip, and that was the best bed we’ve landed in to date. Our breakfast chef/server was also exceptionally kind and gregarious. When in Macon, we’ll never stay anywhere else.

We were under the impression that we were going to have a room in the main house, but instead we were kept in the back house behind the property which was very loud outside and had spotlights all around us at night because it was a very shady area, not safe. The whole place smell old and musty, including our room, which gave me a headache our feet stuck to the wooden floors, our bathroom door wouldn’t even shut halfway so we had to use the bathroom and shower with the door wide open at all times. The pillows were so flat like pancakes. The staff was extremely friendly and the breakfast was good. Overall, unfortunately, we would not stay there again.

Our stay was great! The room was nice and the place is beautiful. The only complaint we had is that the mattress was very hard and uncomfortable, otherwise an amazing stay! The staff was wonderful and the breakfast was yummy. Such a nice place to sit on the porch in the evening and relax. Would recommend.

Everything about this historic inn is great! The staff are amazing with special mentions for Cathy(hope this is the correct spelling) who made our stay. Her recommendations were spot on and her sheer enthusiasm and love of Macon is a credit and great benefit for this Inn. Also a special mention too for Sarah and her delicious mint julip. The rooms are beautiful and very large. It’s very friendly and we chatted with other guests. There were single travellers staying and I can see that this would be a great place to do this as well as for couples or groups. Breakfast was delicious too. I would thoroughly recommend this inn for a trip to Macon. You can walk downtown easily to the local restaurants and bars. It was easy and cheap to get Ubers too.

Wonderful stay at the 1842 Inn. Very friendly and helpful staff. Enjoyed a cocktail with appetizers prepared by staff on the veranda before heading downtown for a fantastic dinner, reservations made for us. Everything about the inn was beautiful from our room to the inn itself and the outdoor spaces. Can't wait to return and highly recommend it if you're in the Macon Georgia area.

I was in Macon looking for a home to buy. The staff was terrific. They were super helpful and friendly. The afternoon drinks on the porch were exactly what I needed. Thanks so much Sarah!!! Everyone at the Inn was so wonderful. They made my stay there feel like I was visiting with family. I went up for my brother who was in the hospital and they all rallied behind me to keep my spirits up. From the beautiful grounds to the amazing architecture and furnishings you just get this incredible sense of relaxation and comfort. We will be back!!!!! Thank you Katie, Felicia and Rachel.

We very much enjoyed our stay. The 1842 Inn is beautiful. The bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious! The gentleman that served us was nice and very informative about the Inn. I wish the girl that greeted us when we came in had been more informative and friendly. Generally at a bed and breakfast they give you more information when you check in. We couldn’t find her to ask about the evening happy hour or evening fresh cookies. So that was a bit disappointing. Overall the Inn itself was great.

The inn was beautiful and the on site parking was very convenient! We came to Macon for a concert at the Macon City Auditorium and it was very easy for us to walk to the venue from the inn. We also walked to Mercer campus nearby which was beautiful. So many beautiful old houses in this area.

If it was out in the country, it a little more quieter. It would’ve been great. Just your typical city noise at night time. The highlight of the entire stay was the quiche at breakfast the next morning that was Home made by Lakecia and she even gave me the recipe. It was worth the trip.

Greeted and staff walked us to our room which was quite nice. Lovely and comfortable king size bed in the Macon Room. Met several nice folks on the porch then Uber-ed to dinner. Breakfast was really good cheesy grits and crisp bacon while my mate enjoyed the sausage casserole with fruit. Loved the Royal Cup coffee they served. We only stayed one night but it was a nice stay.

We enjoyed our stay at this wonderful Inn. We traveled with our dog and they made us and the dog feel welcome. They had a lovely happy hour with some yummy bites. Alcoholic drinks are available at a very reasonable rate. We sat on the porch in comfortable rockers watching the students walk by. The breakfast was delicious! You choose your food and drink, the time and location where you want to eat.The table is set with linens and the breakfast was freshly prepared. The property is beautiful and the staff couldn’t be nicer! We will definitely be back!
