We have stayed at this hotel several times over the past 10 years or so because it is a convenient location between our home and the home of our daughter. I rated it highly in the past but my opinion totally chnged on this trip. The fundamental problem is that, at least at present, the property seems short of staff. I heard the desk clerk say on Sunday afternoon she was the only person other than cleaners. In the morning breakfast was more than 30 minutes late because the desk clerk also had the job of setting up the breakfast. I think he may, however, also have just been lazy as I was up well before 6 and saw no one around. It made a particularly unpleasant morning for me as I had two hangry grandchildren who were up early and wanted breakfast.

Filthy Room, Broken Security, $329 Down the Drain I've stayed in a lot of hotels, but this one takes the cake for the worst experience I've had in years. The red flags started before I even got in the room — the key card envelope was visibly dirty and clearly reused. If a hotel can't spare a clean paper envelope, what does that tell you about everything else? Inside, it got worse. The curtains had mold on them. The bed skirt was stained, like something had spilled and never been cleaned up. The sheets looked slept-in, and the pillowcases were inside out — which makes you wonder if they were ever changed at all. The security lock on the door was completely busted, just hanging there, unusable. And there was a gap at the bottom of the door big enough to fit your hand under — no wonder the room smelled musty and stale. Soundproofing was nonexistent. We could hear every conversation in the hallway and every footstep from the room above. We'd paid extra to bring our dogs and planned to leave them in the room while we went out, but there was no way — they'd have barked nonstop from the noise alone. By day two, we'd had enough and booked a different hotel rather than spend another night there. On top of the $129 we'd already paid, we were out an additional $200 for a clean, decent place to sleep. Bottom line: dirty, broken, loud, and not worth a penny of $129/night — let alone the extra $200 it cost us to escape it.
