The old convent was lovely. We stayed in the old part of the hotel and it was very comfortable- the bed was huge! All the staff were friendly and we enjoyed a free wine tasting on arrival and a bottle of sparkling wine in our room. The indoor pool was ok, but the steam room and sauna were disappointingly cool. The outdoor pool was great and would be gorgeous in the summer. The hotel was really peaceful and it was easy to get in to Evora for dinner and shopping. Breakfast was excellent!

This was a unique and beautiful hotel located just out of Évora. It was a peaceful oasis of gardens, spa, outdoor pool and covent interior to explore. The outdoor pool was fabulous for swimming laps. The restaurant was gourmet.

This hotel is the finest we have ever stayed at. The convent facility was historic and beyond description for quiet and relaxation. The spa was clean and full featured. My wife received a facial. Above all the staff was polite and professional. Five star dining and we joined wine tasting as well. Evora is a wonderful place to visit.

The breakfast quality was poor and food was cold in the buffet which was supposed to be hot. No hot made to order options. Laundry department tried to overcharge on items sent. Pool is absolutely loaded in chlorine beyond normal levels, the smell penetrates through corridors and is present on the entire building and rooms nearby. Jacuzzi gull of foam and oils from guests, not cleaned sufficiently. A shame as overall it is a nice location and it could really be a 5 stars hotel if it improved the breakfast.

This property is amazing. Truly a unique place to stay in an old convent, the property is spotless, rooms are spacious, staff were awesome. We Enjoyed the grounds and the peacefulness. If I could give this a 10 I would. The breakfast in the Divino restaurant was a nice surprise and the best buffet breakfast we have ever had. They had assorted breads, specialty cheeses, meats, hot and cold items, fresh squeezed orange juice, buy the best surprise was a huge block of fresh honeycomb. Call way ahead for dinner reservations at the Divino, we were too late, but had two delicious meals at the Olive restaurant great pastas and thinnest and yummy pizzas. Be sure to walk around the property after dark, it’s gorgeous. They had a free Evora tour on Sunday morning. There was only six of us and it was fantastic. Wines and meals at their property were very reasonably priced.

The hotel is gorgeous. But during check in the whole area smelled like fertilizer. Since the hotel is historic, there was a tour offered but we declined because of the smell. We are here in December and the room does not have heat. The room is large and the bed is large and comfortable. If it was warmer and there wasn't fertilizer in the air it would have been lovely.

Absolutely spectacular. My parents stayed in the old part and adored it. We were in the newer section and it was also perfect. So comfortable. The amenities and staff were delightful. Absolutely worth the visit.

I loved the location of this property. Not even 10 minutes from Evora. The grounds were beautiful and the indoor pool with sauna and steam room were a nice retreat after a long day touring. The beds were super comfortable and the rooms were well insulated from noise. The staff was very professional and we enjoyed chatting with the bartender in the lounge area - he had very good restaurant recommendations. My massage at the spa was mediocre at best but I am spoiled with my masseuse in the states! If I ever visit Portugal again I would definitely stay here!

Convento do Espinheiro Historic Hotel & Spa is truly an exceptional place to stay. The hotel is the main part of beautifully restored almost breath-taking complex. Rooms are well furnished, with comfortable beds, extensive storage and well equipped bathrooms. It is located in fully restored Convent, including a beautiful church and extensive grounds. The staff were efficient and effective and a pleasure to talk to. They were most helpful in regards to recommendations for visiting the area and willingness to provide detailed information on the history of the facility To celebrate my 82nd birthday, I reserved a suite and it proved to be a wonderful present. We occupied room 207, with 2 balconies, a large sitting area with a separate half bath, and nicely furnished private bedroom with a large bath off the bedroom. The furnishings and decorations are first class - simply magnificent. The Simmons king sized beds was supportive and comfortable. The spacious main bathroom included a walk in rainforest shower, separate bathtub, a selection of exclusive amenities and two complimentary bathrobes and slippers for absolute comfort.Everything worked just fine.

The hotel staffer was efficient checking us in but not friendly. She seemed to be annoyed with our questions. The front desk people never asked to help us bring in our suitcases. Later we were waiting for our suitcases near the front desk and the woman at the front desk asked us to move to another room, really? She recommended restaurants in town for lunch but never mentioned that most restaurants close at 3:00 so we didn’t have lunch in town. The staff that held suitcases because our room wasn’t ready was very nice and delivered the bags to our room when we arrived later. The dinner staff were nice and the food was excellent!!! The location of the hotel is well out of town so the location is not convenient to other activities out of the spa hotel. It is a good place to relax. The historic nature of the hotel was amazing!

The hotel is beautiful and historic. It has some lovely public spaces if you could enjoy them without crowds from tour buses. This was a minus from the check-in experience to mealtime to noise and crowds. We were upgraded to our room, and it was a VERY LONG walk. The room was a suite and there were attempts to make it nice but it missed in several ways. The whirlpool tub area was difficult to get into and use comfortably. The TV at the foot of the bed couldn't be used - there was 1 remote - and it controlled the TV in the sitting area. We had to sit uncomfortably in chairs to watch TV vs. laying in bed as desired. I asked for some ice for an injury and was charged 7 euros....crazy. Meal times were very busy and dinner at Divinus very disappointing. Unfriendly service which was slow and rude. Food was lukewarm and poorly presented (4 large piles of peas on pea puree looked like a child did it). This was not the top dining experience advertised. Additionally, the hotel changed our reservation without any notice - leaving us to scramble for dinner on a Sunday night when many places are closed. Evora is a cool city and the historic district very enjoyable. I'd advise staying somewhere else with more comforts, updates, better food - and NO TOUR BUSES.

Sehr schöne Unterkunft in historischem Ambiente, tolles Frühstück, sehr freundliche Mitarbeiter. Wir haben uns 1 Tag Evora angeschaut und abends im Hotel eingecheckt, der Empfang war sehr freundlich. Da wir im März da waren, konnten wir leider den wunderschönen Aussenpool nicht nutzen. Alles in allem ein schöner Ausflug nach Evora mit phantastischem Sonnenuntergang in ländlicher Umgebung.

Cool, historic and beautiful setting. Nice rooms, very fancy. Really enjoyed the pool and walking the grounds. The included breakfast was incredible -- truly 5-star. Word to the wise....The on-site restaurants are often booked up (which was a bit strange because there did not seem to be that many people around) so you have to make reservations even for the more casual ones.

The TV at the foot of the bed couldn't be used - there was 1 remote - and it controlled the TV in the sitting area. We had to sit uncomfortably in chairs to watch TV vs. laying in bed as desired. I asked for some ice for an injury and was charged 7 euros....crazy. Meal times were very busy and dinner at Divinus very disappointing. Unfriendly service which was slow and rude. Food was lukewarm and poorly presented (4 large piles of peas on pea puree looked like a child did it). This was not the top dining experience advertised. Additionally, the hotel changed our reservation without any notice - leaving us to scramble for dinner on a Sunday night when many places are closed. Evora is a cool city and the historic district very enjoyable. I'd advise staying somewhere else with more comforts, updates, better food - and NO TOUR BUSES.
