Holiday Inn Express & Suites Hayward - Castro Valley by IHG

When we checked in at 10pm, after a 5 hour flight, they put us on the 3rd floor. The room door would not lock/close shut. Somebody could bump into the door and it would open. Other people on the 3rd floor were VERY loud. Mind you it was after midnight when I finally complained and requested a new room. The guy told me we can change rooms in the morning with no issues and no extra cost. The next morning we waited 2 hours for a new room. The lady was kind that was helping us but she said they had no rooms available due to the cleaning crew, hence the 2 hour wait. I was then placed on the 2nd floor and you can tell the bathroom was not cleaned properly and the toilet paper hadn’t even been changed. They didn’t even add new soap. Breakfast was very mid but was free. Parking was free as well. Oh and they’re currently upgrading the outside/front walk in area so you have to use the side doors for entering and exiting. Area was nice, quiet and safe. Close to shopping areas, fast food and the movies.

I can’t wait for the pool to be completed

We picked this place because of the pool and it wasn’t open. Otherwise, one of the best breakfasts that I’ve had at a hotel. Super nice staff and clean rooms.

The rooms were had lots of space. Breakfast was great lot more choices than other Hotel that serve breakfast. The biscuits and gravy was ten. In door pool. But up and running yet. Its still newly being renovated..

Our stay was great at this property. Staff were accommodating and kind. The room was clean and comfortable. The amenities were perfect. Free parking,wifi, and breakfast were a bonus. Plenty of food options within walking distance. Overall a great place to stay.

Afternoon traffic made it hard to enter parking, front entrance was blocked for construction, side entrance was locked wit sign to call by phone. Staff were kind friendly and helpful. Internet was weak. Room was clean and comfortable.

Clearly opened before really being ready. Still under construction, ringing bell to enter building to check in/no answer for 5 minutes. Another guest finally let me in, no one at front desk. Ring bell at desk, finally someone emerges. Complain about no answer to bell, dismissed like it never happened. Listen to other guest complain about room with no shower curtain, he was given one to hang himself. i booked a King bed room at extra price, get to room it is two twins, went to change room and got “the system is down”/could not help me, referred me back to Expedia at 11pm. Awful, and frankly unacceptable.

Reception was very rude and unhelpful.. was advertised with a pool and pool was closed.. waited 10 min for anyone let us in to do check in .

It was good and staff really nice but they seem to still be working some of the bugs out Like the front emtrance is still not open . The pool spa area not open. There was no tv remote in room. The upper outlet in bathroom didnt work and thete was eithet no fan in the bathroom or no switch for it. But the breakfast is a10 and staff vety nice and polite

New construction and property is very clean and in great condition. Front desk staff were all very nice and accommodating. EV charger was a plus. Good breakfast with decent options.

2nd time I have stayed here. All I can say is the African American and what I believe is an Indian woman (both young) are completely horrible. First time I showed up I found the Indian woman’s attitude horrible and house keeping would knock at my door at 9am and 10am checking if I left (check out is 11am) so they should have waited. Second trip (most recent 9/25 - 9/27. I was greeted by an older woman and she was kind. When I got to my room it was clean (so I thought) but no toilet paper so I had to go down and get some. First day I saw some ants by the AC I ignored it because I wasn’t bad. Second day around 3pm I noticed there were so many more ants crawling on the walls on the AC and on the bathroom sink and walls. I went to complain and was told its a common issue they’re having right now and they send a dude with a raid bottle to my room (nothing bad about the guy I spoke with him and he was a nice man) I requested a room change as I was no longer comfortable and without even checking they said no and that they were full (hotel was dead and with about 8 cars

The room was clean, quiet, and had great air circulation. We felt comfortable during our stay. Staff were polite, and check-in was smooth. Would stay again!

The staff was great, however this property is still not finished.My husband and I went to our room and saw linen outside of multiple rooms , which was fine. After it’s picked up, it should be vacuumed right then because fuzz was everywhere and it wasn’t until the 2nd night at 9pm we heard staff in the hallway vacuuming. Back to when we first walked in the room hair was all on the bathroom floor, so we told someone that was across the hall cleaning and she came with a vacuum and start vacuuming the bathroom floor. She was nice about it , but it was still hair on the floor and in the shower. We noticed the next day someone had been in our room, but the only thing they did was give us fresh towels. They did not take the trash out , nor did they make the bed. The next day, we saw housekeeping across the hall , but this lady barely understood English. We told her that we needed towels and she gave us some, she took our old ones , but she didn’t give us the towel that goes on the floor, nor hand towels. My husband went down stairs to eat breakfast, but the pancake machine was broke. We chose this hotel because we read that it was brand new, but the cleanliness wasn’t there. I forgot about when we first got there, the sheets on the bed was wrinkled and not tight like they should be. It should be more training on making the bed , cleaning the floors, and folding towels. Also in the lobby, there was towels piled up on the couch that I guess the front desk workers had to fold.

My room was not clean after a request was placed. No one at the front desk for almost one hour. Went to look for someone in the back and no one was responding and did not feel safe without anyone at the front desk.

This location is horrible! I was actually warned by another customer NOT to stay here while I was in line checking in. The young man at check in was sooo rude & said he had no idea how to check us in because we went through Expedia. He said he had no one else to help him. My check in took over 2 & a half hours. We were just sitting outside and then back in the lobby the whole time. There was a man in the parking lot trying to fight my friend & harassing us over a lighter. When we finally get the room, there is NO HOT water the WHOLE stay! And to top it off, there were ants in my room. It was the WORST hotel experience I’ve ever had! Never again!

Our stay was great the only thing was we had a corner room by a door and people kept coming in and out and the door would slam everytime, also an hour before check out the maid came by knocked once we didn't even get a change to get to the door and she was coming in to our room. I really did not appreciate that at all. Before I forget we stayed there two nights and I did ask front desk for more towels, this was earlier in the morning then about noon or so I had to ask again and a gentleman vacuuming brought them right over.

Very close to amenities. Staff is very kind and hardworking. It is a new property so it’s clean and new. The swimming pool was closed as it’s not ready yet. Breakfast was great but get in earlier as it gets busy. Parking is free on site. The first night on the 2nd floor, was very loud due to other guests- we didn’t complain but could’ve. Second night we moved on the 4th floor and was quiet.

New hotel with a water pressure problem, my room 401 was fine but intermittent water pressure is no good.

Overall the staffing was really nice, the only thing I would change is that there was no hot water. I tried showering later on in the afternoon and there was none. Same thing the next morning.

Great staff great experience

This hotel had an system issue so they couldn't check us in at first and we were told to wait 30 minutes, which we were okay with, but soon enough it turned into 5 hours which resulted into us wanting a refund. When telling them, they didn't want to refund the money back, some lady told us she was going to help find available rooms by herself yet she didnt and stayed in the back. I just want to say, are they racist or not? Because me and my family are Asian and were the second ones there waiting list for our rooms, but out of everyone that were waiting and coming in they were all booked and have a room while my family and I were stuck in the lobby. All the people here were all colors of race and we were the only asians coming in. Worst experience here epscially since my family always book for Holiday Inns, had high expectation.the owner of Holidays inns need to know what happen to us tonight.

I had confirmed booking but dtill they denied room and told me they sold out for today and didn’t have room I don’t know hoe can you allocate room to others when you hv confirmed booking for guest and reaching out to him before allocating to someone else

I loved that it was close to Eastbay university for my daughter's graduation.

Staff was friendly and welcoming. Rooms were nice and clean. Easy to uber around to restaurants.

The stay was nice, but I couldn't get the Wi-Fi on my phone. The breakfast was terrific, much more than we expected!

The property is very new and a wonderful addition to the city of Hayward

Staff was welcoming except the breakfast area. Check in was a breeze. Room was good with a street view. Hotel is under construction so there is a lot of construction noise just be aware of that. The worst thing was the breakfast. We showed up at 8 AM and almost everything was empty. Only 3-4 other families were there at that time so definitely was not busy. Bacon, gravy for biscuits was never filled. There was no fresh fruit available, boiled eggs were over. Nuts and toppings for oatmeal was over. When we politely asked the staff member they (one lady in particular) were extremely rude. We sat around for 40 min and still stuff mentioned above was not refilled. The pancake machine was out of order. So the place that is supposed to serve hot breakfast only had eggs and biscuits. All-in-all with loud construction noise, fire alarm went off once for no reason, and the breakfast debacle this stay was not pleasent especially for the price you pay. It was- Pay for a hotel but stay in a motel!!
