The Hotel was AWFUL. THIS IS NOT a five star hotel. It is at best 2.5 stars and Hotels.com needs to remove it from its website. The lift was not working. There was no staff to carry our suitcases four floor. We checked out the next day and even though we lost all the money GBP 3,000, we checked into Randolph which is a genuine 5 star hotel. This hotel is not what it claims and not what Hotels.com has portrayed on their website.

Great rooms in the heart of Oxford. No parking on premises, so drop off luggage, then park at the Park and Ride north of town. The Park and Ride bus stop is just outside the hotel, so very convenient.

Very centrally located, everything within walking distance. Quite a small room but very comfortable. Not all rooms have windows, we did, but could be a bit claustrophobic maybe if you were going to spend a lot of time in your room, but excellent as a base for seeing the sights. No restaurant or bar, but brunch bar just next door excellent and discount for guests of hotel. Lots of bars very close by.

Very convenient for city centre, though it should be noted that this is room only, no breakfast or bar. Friendly and attentive staff at reception. Room and corridors clean and tidy. AC in room not very effective, cold on entry, and changing to heating mode didn’t seem to make much difference. Bathroom basin cracked and bedside wall lights not working. This was marketed as as premium room, with balcony and views, and paid a premium price but, other than the convenience, I didn’t think it offered value for money

It was conveniently located for walking to old town Oxford sites. Car parking was limited to expensive public parking lot two blocks away.

The staff was so very helpful and nice. Every request we made was met quickly and with a smile. This city doesn't sleep much in the center so it isn't very quiet outside but the inside of the hotel was very peaceful and we slept very well! Very clean and comfortable!

From outside it didn't look much - just a doorway on a busy road with an empty shop next door but the hotel's in a great location for visiting all the main Oxford sites & is an easy short walk from the train station. It was a pleasant surprise inside though - cool, clean & lots of marble & stylish mirror tiles in the hallway. The reception staff were welcoming & friendly & our classic double room was exactly as it appeared in the website photos. Although there isn't a bar or restaurant at the hotel we found lots of places within walking distance so were happy to try several of them (excellent Eggs Benedict at the nearby Oxford Brunch Bar which also gave us a small discount as we were hotel guests!). The only negative during our stay was housekeeping failing to show up on day 2 to clean our room even though we'd been out all day. The receptionist couldn't apologise enough but she was unable to get them to come back & ended up having to go & get us clean towels & coffee & water supplies etc herself. We really appreciated her efforts but felt sorry for her having to sort out a problem she didn't cause.

I had a really lovely stay at the George Street Hotel. Staff were so helpful, my Deluxe Double room was beautiful, well equipped and spotlessly clean - and so quiet considering the hotel is right in the heart of Oxford. I would thoroughly recommend staying here if you are visiting Oxford by train and wish to be convenient for the Colleges, shopping and nightlife.

Very dated hotel. Our room was in the basement and was very small (not much room between the end of the bed and the wall), AC unit was loud all night but had to stay on because of the heat in the room. We had no sleep and left at 7am just to leave the hotel.

What a charming hotel! The layout makes it feel very intimate, and we had a lovely view from our balcony. The extra bath care amenities (shaving kit, dental kit, slippers, etc.) were a nice touch and not found at other places we stayed at during our visit to the U.K. Outlets and charging ports were plentiful, and the staff was extremely helpful anytime we had a question. We would be delighted to stay here again. ...So convenient to Gloucester Green bus station--easy access to Heathrow!

A twin room on an upper floor, furnished with South Asian sensibility with lots of mirrors and an ornate sink in the bathroom. The only "complaint" would be that the windows were high and small, making it feel somewhat claustrophobic. ... oh, and the price. I'm sure it was on par with the rest of Oxford, but for a place that felt a bit like a hole in the wall ...

Everything perfect, from the moment we arrived. We arrived early and it was our only day in Oxford, Sanj, the Director of the Hotel was super helpful in giving us a lot of information about places to visit, etc. he even gave us an upgrade to a beautiful suite !! The room was huge, the bathroom was also huge, it had a balcony with great views of the city, the bed was super confortable. Everything is within walking distance from the hotel. So the location is great !! Can’t wait to go back to Oxford !!

The hotel made an unauthorised debit to my account for £100. When I queried this they told me it was a deposit to cover possible damage to the room during my stay. Hotels cannot make unauthorised debits like this. The staff were not helpful and it took several attempts before I managed to retrieve this deposit.

Arrived at 10:30pm and no one was at reception to check me in despite notifying them of my expected arrival time in line with their t&cs. I have time stamped photo with geo location data at the entrance of the hotel and records of my attempts to call the hotel). I couldn't gain access to the building and noone was answering the phone. They are now refusing to refund me. Their website states a 24 HR reception but this is not the case.

We had a wonderful time in Oxford staying at George Street Hotel. The staff were so friendly and helpful. They did an amazing job caring for us as we arrived early from the USA. The room was excellent, a great location in Oxford. But we will always remember the incredible staff!!!

The hotel is smack in the middle of the city and a short walk to bot the train station and the main bus terminal. Although George street has deteriorated in the last years, the hotel is across from the theatre so it is lively and feels more or less safe. Cafe on the left. Two nice pubs on the right.

This is not a five star hotel (I was aware it wouldn’t be but the pictures gave the impression it might be a four at a stretch). I do not know why Expedia has listed this hotel as five star and what they were basing it on/why they are allowed it to be listed as this. It’s perfectly serviceable and clean but it’s a three star at best. The price is far too much for what it is, even when discounted. There is a very basic reception area, no food is offered, no bar or restaurant. The decor is very odd, particularly in the rooms. The hotel only accessible by a small door directly off the high street into a tiny lift with paper labels stuck next to the buttons indicating where to go, and an odd laminated welcome card. The gentleman on reception was very nice and booked me a taxi for the next morning which was there waiting for me.

Nice hotel and very very central for Oxford stuff … staff were lovely, set up meant a bit echoey in the night though for people reading this review who are fussy about sound, but we liked it. No breakfast, but soooo many places to eat on the same street, it wasn’t even a consideration. Thanks!

Nice hotel in Oxford City Centre. Comfortable and clean. No resultant, but plenty of options locally in just a few minutes walk from the hotel. The staff at the hotel are really great and very happy to help.
