SIGNAL HILL MOTEL BEACH MOTEL

The place is cute and sits in a busy commercial area where food and stores are comfortably nearby. However, the parking spots are not room assigned thus you have to park in front of someone else’s room so, it’s a little odd. And, although the rooms are clean on the surface they are in desperate need for a deep cleaning. Overall, the place is nice and comfortable.

Everthing was great. Nice and clean. Comfy bed parking was rightin front of our door o ly thing was that the TV volume kept going on and of.

This was not worth the money paid. The key card didn’t work, so every time you wanted to enter the room the front desk clerk would have to let you in. That was very inconvenient and odd. The door was very hard to open and close, you have to use some force. The room was so small, the bed frame was disgusting, the pillows were extremely flat, the floors were dirty my white socks looked gross, the bathroom is super small, the walls are thin, so you can hear guests in other rooms. At some point in the night around 3am someone was whistling it was very eerie, it sounded like a call, definitely something out of a horror film. There was not that much parking, the images of the motel are deceiving. This is the type of place you go to and want your money back. Don’t waste your time or money.

TV didn't work in the room and the room while clean did not have any towels. An attempt was made to fix the TV but ended up switching rooms. The second was nicer-updated. No ice machine. While managers tried to make our stay pleasant it could have been better.

No parking, but it was okay the stree parking was close enough.The room was very neat and clean.

Room smells like smoke. Someone put a plastic bag over the smoke alarm so I reported it but was completely ignored. The room was not very clean either. Highly discourage anyone who is not a transient to stay there.

My room was filthy. Crumbs on the bedside table, microwave, fridge and table. Bed sheets smelled funky and there were several brown and green spots on the sheets that could been removed if they had washed it. Light switches were covered in something sticky. Towels that were provided smelled like feet. The towels were dark brown…probably so that stains weren’t visible. It was disgusting. Everything was just disgusting. I only lasted 3-5 mins in my room before bringing this up to the owner/employee. I saw 2 men there, both looked like fijian or from india, not sure. One was taller with short and glasses. And another man who was shorter, around 5’5-5’7 tall with longer hair, with bangs swept to the side. I spoke to the taller man. I asked him if my room was ever cleaned after the last guest and how it was incredibly dirty. He said he would get someone to clean it ASAP but I refused and said it should have been cleaned prior to my check in. I asked for a refund for at least 1 night (booked for 2 nights) which he agreed on and said to contact expedia for a refund for the 1 night as he can not do the refund here. I contacted expedia and expedia stated that the owners said no such thing about a refund, even for the 1 night. Please do not book here, sleeping in your car is much better than this. Take your $60-$100/night elsewhere.

Our room was dirty, dirty pillow cases, shower, had someone’s dirty pants hanging on the shower rod, the sink and mirror were dirty. The guy who checked us in was helpful and refunded $20 gave new pillow cases and towels, said housekeeping would come in an hour to clean but nobody came. I worked as a housekeeper before so I know the standards of what it should look like and this was by far the worst place I’ve ever stayed. Smelled like cigarettes in the middle of the night very very strongly. I would have probably went somewhere else if it wasn’t so late and I wasn’t traveling all day with a child.

I stay in well over a hundeptec hotel rooms over the course of the year and this one was right at the bottom. Check in began with having to sign three pages of various conditions. Not ever a good sign. Getting into my hotel room, I discover that the room was never cleaned from the las5 guest. Towels messed up, trash can filled with sexual lubricants and such and the bed looking suspect. To their credit, when notified, the desk cleaned the room and remade the bed with what I hope were fresh linens. It should be mentioned the hotel uses brown towels, far easier to conceal dirt and stains. The hotel has installed overly technical Fire TV’s when what I watch is broadcast TV. First up, every time I turned on the television it went into a 10 minute reboot. In order to get broadcast TV, the desk clerk had to find a new remote since the one in the room wasn’t working. As for the WiFi, it worked for about 15 minutes before disappearing for good. Perhaps the office could have done a reset, but not in the mood to return with yet another issue. Do yourself a favor and pass this place by.

I had to cut my stay short and leave the next day due to the condition of the room. 1st, there was a terrible odor that made it impossible to breathe. It was toxic and caused me to get a bad cough by the next day. The room was cold and there was no blanket. The heater could not be used because it was full of dust and blew dust everywhere when turned on. Additionally, there were incense sticks stuck in the heating element. Beside the lack of a blanket, there was no bath towels, no working electric sockets in the bathroom, and no light bulbs in the bedside lights. The brown hand towels smelled, and the duvet cover was ripped and stained. The floor was sticky to boot. The toilet was filthy and had brown stains all over it. There were no hangers on the closet dowel which was also partially broken. The mirror had aluminum foil partially covering it as it was broken and not replaced. The room was not habitable at all. However, the man who checked me in was nice and friendly. Sadly, the hotel room is not habitable.

Tiny, not really clean all doors rooms made noises when close/open most guests checked in/out you can heard loud talks from the room wall. None of all I like.

The room was not clean, there were hand prints still on the headboard and mirror in the room. The curtain was not cut properly, like someone had taken a pair of kitchen scissors to try to trim above the fan. The sheets were either very old and stained, or still dirty. The chairs in the room were well past their service life. The fridge and microwave appeared serviceable and in good repair. The door did not open or close properly on its hinges. I will not be returning.

There was no hot water in the shower. There were no drinking cups. The bathroom was almost the same size as the bedroom. Bed was comfortable. Service was pleasant and excellent. This is a "no-frills" motel with good value for the low price, other than the lack of hot water.

We were pleasantly surprised for the price! The next hotel in this price range had horrible reviews, so we felt we were taking a risk, but it turned out to be a great deal. Simple room, nothing fancy, but everything we needed and in our budget. Comfy bed and great shower!

They did not have hot water not even warm water in the shower at all..they have cockroaches and lots of flys

Great place to catch a good night sleep for an affordable price. Bed was comfortable and clean. Towels and shower were good. Easy stay. I will return.

It’s a motel and you get what you pay for. It was loud but clean except for having to kick a roach out of the room. (Only one we saw.) New floor, new fridge, new microwave, clean bed, and a hot shower. The noises from the street compound into the motel area and the walls are thin. (I’m glad our neighbors were watching Home Alone Lost in New York.)

There is noisy traffic on the busy Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) until late into the evening. The walls are thin so you hear into the next room. It's roomy and the bed is comfortable. I could not figure out how to change channels on the remote I was handed when I checked in. It should have been a no-brainer.

I had a comfortable stay despite the fact my 2days there I didn't have access to enter my room with the key that was working and front desk near seem to answer

The room was dirty and it smelled and the lady in the front desk was rude when I was trying to talk to she walked away from me I wouldn’t stay here at all!!

The lady in front desk gave us a room that was already occupied. I was shocked when i opened the door and there were occupants things all over. Lucky that they were not inside the time i opened the room. So disappointing that this place is just small and they do not know the check in and out of people.

This is the worst place we've stay at in all my travels. Expedia shouldn't allow it to be list on it's website. Aside from being dirty and disgusting, it's dangerous. We had booked 2 nights but checked out after the first night out of concern for our safety.

absolutely horrific. walls paper thin I heard the next door rooms conversations, stunk like cigarettes, the floor was so dirty it stained the soles of my shoes. the bathroom shower curtain was a moldy brown fabric curtain, not plastic, so when it got wet in the shower it smelled horrific. the tv didn’t work and the wifi was a joke. the area is sketchy at best I was constantly stressed about my car being broken into. the only upside is the office worker was kind and helpful, but unfortunately the facility is disgusting.
