Avalon Hotel & Conference Center

The room was nice even though there was construction going on. We however, were disappointed that there was no pool or fitness room available, even though it was advertised. Both are under construction.

Advertised a pool and it ended up being permanently closed. Ruined kids weekend. Left early. Housekeeping pushy about getting in the room after being told it was fine.

Friendly staff. Info on Expedia was inaccurate pool has been closed since January. I cancelled the reservation.

Hot tub was closed down, workout room was closed no restaurant or bar or breakfast all shut down, asked for extra towels and pillow and was told none were available.

It was not as it was pictured, While they were doing much work on making it better, they should have been up front about it on there web page. No pool was open, not much of a breakfast

Property is under renovation by new owner. Staff is in trained. Room was not cleaned while we were away. Had to ask for towels the second day. Shampoo and conditioner pumps were empty. Hair dryer was broken. Staff didn’t know how to mount replacement. Pool was drained, fitness center was closed. Suggest you remove property from Expedia until that complete renovations and train staff. Suggest they get a manager that has been trained in hotel management.

Hotel supposedly Just finished renovations. Website didn't disclose Renovations swimming pool and hot tub area were completely closed down and under construction. Bathroom had broken exhaust fan that was rattling and very noisy , broken outdated toilet that wouldn't flush properly and kept running , shower handle loose and falling off. missing tile next to bathtub near floor. Shower curtain was old and smelled like piss when water hit it in the shower needs to be replaced.

The keys did NOT stay programmed to the room. Had to go to the front desk mulitple times to them reprogrammed. We didn't get the room that we we booked.There was no remote for the roku or the tv. The cable only had one channel on it. The sink in the bathroom leadked from the drain when it was used. There was only ONE working outlet to use betwen the lamp and charging our phones. The peep hole had no lens so people could look in our room from the hallway. The pool & hot tub were under construction so misleading as well.

The bar and dining room were not open Continental breakfast very limited in volume. Hot tub out of order. Indoor pool bot heated. The toilet needed repair the bowl would empty at all hours

Well to start our door was broken. Then to find that the bathroom door looked like an ax was taken to it then repaired. The microwave must of been peed in because we went to heat something up and got the most god awful smell of hot urine. Pool was empty and non functioning. Overall was not happy for the price we paid for what felt unsafe.

Just really outdated and very unclean

I walk in the place smells like weed. You can’t get a person at the front desk to save your life. The pool is empty no water. Outlets don’t work. Refrigerator doesn’t work. No breakfast available. The only thing it is good for is a bed, but even then the sheets smell like male Bo and I traveled alone. Very sketchy.

They are remodeling the place. But my room had construction debris and dust everywhere!! Paint all over even on the bed! Air conditioner didn't work. They offered to move me after I told them but they shouldn't have even rented to room out. They had the cleaning person come back in to clean but it didn't get any better.

Disgusting! There was dried vomit on the wall by the bed, stains on the bedding, carpet was horribly stained. Never went without shoes because it was so disgusting. Staff barely spoke English so didn’t matter if we did complain. No hot water, hair in the corners of the bathroom. Bath towels were like dish rags. So any money I saved by staying in this cheap hotel was lost in the use of my own blankets and purchasing my own towels for use while there. As I left the place, I felt like I was released from captivity in some creep’s basement. In one word, DISGUSTING!!! Do not stay here.

Room was dirty, dorty towels and bedding. Pull out couch had no sheets and blood staines. Bathroom was dirty toliet, sink and shower had hair. Front desk lady was very nice she changed the bedding and gave us new towels. No pool

First room was so disgusting, bed was made but that is all the housekeepers had done. Stain on pillow, hairs under comforter, pubs on toilet seat and floor. Gentleman at front desk did get us a cleaned room the next morning but was too busy to discuss any reimbursement. Pool was empty as well. I could go on but safe to say we will never go back there!!

The room reeked of smoke, it was super run down. We almost ran out of toilet paper, there were no tissues. People where lingering, doors were cracked open. It felt unsafe. One of the reasons we chose the hotel was it had a pool, the pool was under renovations. We didn't even stay the second night that we had paid for, we just wanted out of there. If it hadn't been so late when we arrived, we wouldn't have stayed the 1st night either. The whole first night I prayed there wouldn't be bed bugs. Thank God there weren't.

Very dirty, stained sheets and carpet.. smelled like mold, visible thick dirt in bathroom vent.. bathtub backed up while shower was on. Extra lock on door was missing..

Toilet was broken, and shower didn’t drain. tried moving to another room but it didn’t have ac. Pool was under construction. Bedding was stained. Weird odor throughout whole building. Will never return.

The WiFi reception was bad. Could not get WiFi inside my room. Very disappointed. I stayed 3 nites.

Extremely small bathroom and shower. The toilet is so low it's pretty much like sitting on the floor.

Tv didnt work, lamp shades were ripped, no door handle on bathroom. It was a bed to sleep on but cant say much more. Would not stay again.

It was close to our destination. BUT, it went down hill from there. We booked a NON-smoking room with a king size bed, we got 2 queens. The room had clearly been smoked in, we couldn't shower because the handle in the tub came off, TV didn't work, no coffee maker and the pool he said was under renovation. I looked and nothing had been done in the pool except to drain it. I reserved the room for 2 nights, we left the first morning. I will NEVER stay there again, and will inform anyone I know that is planning a trip the Chippewa Falls, WI NOT to stay there. We are expecting you to refund the money that we paid for the 2nd night that we didn't stay. I would also like someone to follow up with me regarding to the above complaints. Doesn't anyone from your organization ever inspect these hotels to check if they are what they claim to be? I wouldn't stay there if it were FREE. We had to ask for house keeping services after spending one night there. We had to ask for more towels, a hair dryer, a remote for the TV and for cable to be hooked up in the room. There was a noticeable gap above the doors. The carpeting was dirty and not installed properly in the hallways. The pool was being renovated, but we were not notified beforehand of that. We had to search for the ice and vending machines because we were not told where they were. There was also no phone in the room, although that may be how they set up the rooms. We were told that our room was still being done, and the floor in the bathroom was not fully tiled yet. All in all, the room quality was very poor. It looks like the hotel was under new management and once it is completed, it may be better. On a positive note, the items that we needed to ask for were brought in a timely manner.

The doors deadbolt did lock but the hotel door stopper/lock was broken. The toilet did not flush and the tank was empty leading me to believe the water was off. It was late when we checked in and I was too tired to complain. I propped furniture in front of the door to feel a little safer. And I used a trash can to force flush the toilet. In the morning when I checked out I told the front desk about the issues and they did not seem surprised but annoyed that I was giving them this information.

I'm trying to give them the benefit of the doubt but starting right off the bat, I pulled into the parking lot and immediately left thinking I had the wrong address. No signs on the building and it looked run down. I stopped somewhere else and read the most recent reviews and they weren't good. Finally, I go to check in and I had to wait for someone to appear at the front desk. The room itself was okay, definitely not the best. They are renovating (at least I hope that's what's happening) but the room had pipes sticking out, paint off the ceiling, the bathtub was chipped and the water stopper had a gross amount of mildew on it. The light switches were cracked and some of the outlets were either off the wall. The bed was not very comfortable and after reading the reviews, I opted to sleep on top of the sheets as I had brought my own blanket. The wifi password I was given didn't work, but every time I went through the lobby, no one was at the desk so I didn't bother with it. I cannot confirm if the pool actually exists as I didn't venture to look for it. I can't commit on the breakfast bar but it didn't look like there was anything out for it. Check out instructions were never given, so I stood at the front desk for a few minutes; I saw someone else leave their key cards on the desk so I did that as well because I wanted to leave. I hope they figure it out because they could have a great turnout of people for the festivals in the area

The bed was comfortable, it had a TV & the area was quiet. That's all that was good. The floor/carpet was so dirty & you could see where previous guests had spilled something! The bathroom fan didn't work. The A/C didn't work very well. The filter was out of the A/C & sitting on top of the unit. It was so filthy I had to rinse it off b4 I put it back in. The door key didn't work very well. Had to put it in 3 or more times before it would unlock the door. The staff was very welcoming.

The lobby was clean and cute. Personnel was friendly and offered us that if we needed a ride back to the hotel after a night out, to call her and she would call us a cab. The rooms are nothing fancy but clean. The lock to our room was sticking. The front desk person had to open our door when we got there and again later. Then the next day, my husband ran somewhere and i went to get ice down the hall and....i could not get back into my room. The front desk couldnt get the door open and had to call maintenance which was apparently in a different town. Long story short, we were given another room to watch tv while we waited to get into our room (full of our stuff). It took about 3 hours to get back into our room. We then switched rooms that wasnt as nice and had a smaller bed. We missed our noon reservation for a brewery tour. But the front desk kept us informed and was very apologetic. It wasnt her fault. And, the restaurant/bar was closed which was a bummer. Also, we had a smart tv in our second room and no one could figure out how to watch the big football game so we went somewhere else to watch that. Would I stay there again? Maybe. It was very reasonably priced and off the beaten path.

The exterior looks nothing like the photo. I had to refer back to the app to make sure I had the right address. When we arrived, we thought the hotel was closed down because the parking lot has overgrown weeds and the business next door is closed down. There were no cars in the parking lot. I drove to the back to see if maybe that side of the building looked like the photos, but nope, not even close. I don’t know where this stucco side of the building is that it shows in the photo?! It looked like the back of the hotel was being rented out by people as living quarters. It was a little scary actually. When we checked in, I tried 3 times to get into the room. The key card would blink green and I would push and the door seemed to be stuck or jammed. I had the front desk person try and it opened on his first try. We kept having problems with that door during our stay. Immediately when we entered our room, it smelled of urine. We couldn’t pinpoint the smell. We didn’t say anything after already having problems with the door and just brushed it off since we weren’t planning on spending much time there besides to sleep then go home. The carpet was absolutely sticky despite wearing slippers. The bathroom was the worst. It looked like there was public hair everywhere in the bathtub like a dirty rag was used to wipe everything. The bed was surprisingly comfortable but it smelled. I thought the bed would’ve been a positive thing, but nope.

The staff and owner were very helpful and friendly. The hotel was clean and nice. The room was spacious. We will definitely stay here again.

I think they might be remodeling but there's alot of work to do. Its ok for the price and we can never be too picky when travel with our dog. Staff was friendly.

There are long term live in people. Lots of things were "out of order" , ice machine with no ice, pool was cold, room was dirty and was only given 2 towels for 4 people, shower head hardly worked, miss matched wall paper and spots that didnt match others, fridge didnt work, weeds growing in the gutters and the parking lot had huge pot holes, our inside room door had to be lifted up as it didnt close properly... we left our reservation after the first night and will NOT be back!

When we first arrived, we thought the place was closed. Parking lot was full of weeds and the area around the motel looked abandoned. We went to the motel next door and they told us it was actually open so we went back and entered the lobby area. Parking lot crappy but everything else great

There was no grab and go breakfast as advertised. The bar and restaurant were closed. The coffee that was available was terrible. The room was adequate. The clerks who checked me in and out were friendly.

I liked the low price per room. There was not a decent breakfast, the bar was not open, the pool was not open.

There was never no one around for service, you had to pick up the phone and wait for them to answer. The breakfast was to be desired, the coffee was so black even after 8 creamers, my coffee was so black, there was no place to sit, no juices, and I'm not even picky about breakfast, but it was to be desired. They checked us in and the room was even cleaned.

It was horrible! No breakfast and the hotel door sucks. It took us so many tries to open the door. There breakfast they have only was just a candy bar and doughnut only. They need to do it better.

Pluse...cheap, comfortable clean beds Minus...smells, old stained carpet, pool had no water, nothing but cereal and yogurt for breakfast, no coffee even. Online pictures dont match up. Expect old place, no service, a motel that's a maze

It wa ok. The television coices were not great. And thr breakfast was very scant.

Breakfast included is a joke. Instant coffee with no spoon. Granola bars from Walmart was the grab and go. If you just are sleeping and going it’s good but if you are looking to unwind from a long drive and a fresh start in the am, this isn’t the place.
