Red Roof Inn PLUS Long Island - Garden City

We had booked a nonsmoking room, and the bathroom smelled of smoke the entire length of our stay.

1st room, the tv inputs were misconfigured. Was told to just change them. When that didn’t help there was no staff available to help so they changed my room. 2nd room, tv worked, AC did not and main room light did not work. DIY AC requires me to turn it on from the wall switch. Once I figured that out the display lights on the AC panel were busted..so I had a hard time knowing what is fan/air/heat. Bedding is extremely light..when asked for more blankets was told none were available.’ And handed additional sheets instead. Additional wash clothes is a request I have to track down cleaning staff for. This is a ‘last choice’ hotel option when passing thru. Not worth more than $100/night. Because it’s graduation season they know they can charge more. Be advised - more is not worth it.

We spent three nights at this hotel, whic has a convenient location and friendly, helpful staff. It's a high-traffic facility with inevitable wear & tear--for example: only the 5th floor ice machine worked, our room's drapes needed replacement, and outdoor ashtrays were full of butts. However the cleanliness standards are high and it's an affordable option considering the location. An abundance of shopping and dining is nearby although the area is choked by traffic. We would probably stay here again.
