Clarion Hotel Conference Center on Lake Erie

Good location and friendly front desk clerk but the price was too expensive for what the hotel offers. The elevator smelled terrible and based upon its noises and jumps we wonder when its last maintenance was done. Our room overlooked the lake but the windows were so dirty you almost couldn’t see it. The breakfast was mediocre. And the smoke alarm went off five minutes after getting in the room. Motel 6 quality at resort prices. This hotel needs a lot of TLC or reduce prices to reflect true quality.

Water pressure in the shower was amazing. Our room was nice. Was disappointed to find out the outdoor pool was no longer open. Front desk staff was very nice.

Property was close to the fishing pier and had a good rating. Elevator had homemade signs on it and was very confusing to use. Room was clean but very run down. Beds were comfy.

Of the options in the area this one is toward the top of the list. Great view of Lake Erie if you get a West facing room. Staff was extremely friendly. The brewery/restaurant is worth trying even if you don't stay here.

Rooms were clean, but no trash pickup for 3 days and very small waste baskets. Elevator broke and pictures missing on walls.

This property is all about the location! It is beautifully located right on the shore of Lake Erie. Our room was on the top floor and had a wonderful view of the lake. The hotel itself is relatively average. The room was fine, and the common areas of the hotel were OK. It was a little expensive for just being relatively average. At the time we were there the pool was closed. We were unsure about why. The surrounding area is great in the summertime. It's a very short walk to the pier area which has great restaurants and nightlife and beyond beautiful scenery. We might have eaten in the restaurant that is located in the hotel but they do not have the menu posted in the hotel's local places to eat folder in the room and we decided to look elsewhere.

This hotel needs a lot of work. It is falling apart. I tried to use the fitness center and the a chunk of the ceiling fell as it had a leak.... I hope someone works on it....The best thing about it is the brewery next door. Great drinks and amazing food.

elevator lights did not work

Not well maintained property. Tub is dirty and worn, drain plug in sink in in disrepair causing water to back up, water leak has water coming through ceiling in the hall.

This place is worn out and neglected. Our room smelled like an old basement, and after spotting mold on the seams of the wallpaper and ceiling we requested another room. I can’t list off everything that was disappointing about this whole stay, it’s just too much. This place just needs a complete overhaul. But it’s a struggling town, and I guess this is what you get. It’s just a shame.

lovely views of the lake, the facility was a little run down looking, but only in minor ways. person who checked us in was not very friendly, and gave us one key card that didn't work at all, and both cards were not working in the morning. person at the desk at that time was gracious and fixed them both. breakfast what you'd expect, nothing great, eggs that weird consistency that hotel eggs always seem to have. Bathroom counter and shower were not very clean.

The bathtub was dirty, neededto be scrubbed. Sink was backed up. The entire building looks tired and shabby.

The location was convenient to the reunion location I was in town to attend. The lobby had recently been renovated, I feel that expense would have been better used to upgrade rooms! Room 323 was in horrible condition. Ceiling had water damage, black mold, wall covering was peeling. Air conditioner sounded like an airplane taking off each time it started. Bathtub tiles were stained, no exhaust fan, old hairdryer wall hanger bracket was bare, corner of door frame at floor looked like there was feces on it. Plus the price nearly doubled for Friday and Saturday nights. If I had been able to go elsewhere I would have. Besides reunions happening, there was a softball tournament in the area, and a fishing tournament. So no rooms available nearby. I’ll never stay there again! I wish I could get a refund.

It’s an older 4 level hotel that’s in need of remodeling. I couldn’t care less about the outdated decor, but I do expect things to be in working order.The shower was rusted and stained, and the shower head was leaking a lot. The walls of our room were not sound proof. We could hear the woman next doors phone conversation, every word, she was speaking in a normal tone.The bathroom floor was sticky, I came out of the shower and forgot my shoes, after walking across the room and back my feet were black and had hair that was long and blonde stuck to them.We are all brunettes.We paid extra for a “lake view.” They put us on the first floor, the windows were so filthy and discolored that we couldn’t see out of it. Lastly itchy sheets with an old style mattress pad that moves with you. Area was fine, staff was polite and helpful. We checked out after one night stayed at the Holiday inn that was very nice.

Dirty musty smelly rooms

This was the dirtiest hotel I’ve ever stayed in We had to move rooms because of a spider infestation, wallpaper was falling off the walks, the shower was stained, and the smell of mildew was intense The place should not be in service Unfortunately there was no other hotel to move to

Room was for the most part clean except there needs to be more lights in the bathroom with a vent as well and some of the wallpaper was coming off and there was mold behind it.

So many cobwebs and they weren’t fresh. They were old and dirty. So much filth in the windows that you couldn’t see outside. Peeling wallpaper. Dust and dirt everywhere. Husband has asthma and he struggled all night. Bathtub leaked through caulking all over floor. Carpet was filthy. Overall terrible for $250/nite.

The room door felt flimsy when it was closed. The vent unit smelled when it blew, and there was mold on the ceiling. The rooms could use an update for sure. The bathroom was good. It's crazy that there is no refrigerator in the room. That is a big letdown. Beds were comfy and clean. The restaurant was fine, but with only one server, things went a bit slow.

My first stay at the Clarion. Room was spacious, plenty of comfortable seating. NOT impressed by paint splatters on the flooring, should have been cleaned up. Also it was a little dangerous to have the wireless RF extender hanging loose across the front of the furniture, could easily be snagged by luggage and ripped off the wall. Should have drilled a hole at the back and dropped it through there. Shower was confusing -- they reversed the hot and cold lines, but never told me at check in, so I waited and waited for hot water, never came until I turned it to the cold setting. For a BUSINESS hotel, the desk was a failure, nowhere to plug in a laptop, and no Ethernet connection at the desk. WiFi was spotty, but barely acceptable. The "view" from the room totally sucked, it was the roof with machinery. I understand, some rooms don't have great views, but they could at least put some kind of lattice fencing out there, give the simulation of greenery, SOMETHING.

We had a good stay while on a fishing trip in the area. The beds were comfortable, the Monday evening Indian food in the restaurant was good, and it was quiet. There was no microwave in the room, but one was available near the vending machines. I could not figure out how to keep the fan on the heat/AC running, so it was on & off all night but not too bad.

Bar closes at 9pm. Rooms are dated, carpet is dirty and furnishings are old. Bathroom was dated

Great stay, although quick, my nephew enjoyed walking out on the patio and beyond to catch the beautiful sunset over the lake as we were waiting for our dinner. The dinner was excellent and so much food we couldn't eat it all. If we had had a refrig and microwave in the room . We would have saved for breakfast!!!

Clean, nice, comfortable. View great, beach close, awesome view. Downfall no microwave or refrigerator... Or fan in bathroom. But for older place and price was worth it.. busy but quiet. Breakfast was wonderful

Water out of the shower was brown for the first 20 seconds every time I used it. The wifi was basically non existent, and the carpets in the room just felt dirty.

Bathroom fixtures are old. Walls so thin you can hear folks from adjoining rooms. Even hear the morning wake up call. Limited food options around. Good point is to see Lake Erie

Checking in was an issue. Waited 15 minutes for person to check us in.

At 3am, the hallway light fixture start to leak water to the point that it soaked through 3 towels on the floor. When I reported to the front desk, they asked me if the water dripping from the light was brown and I said no it was clear. They told me that they weren’t a repairman, but they would make a note on my reservation. When I called the next day, the front desk person transferred me to a manager voicemail. Since I didn’t hear back from them, I contacted hotel.com. Who also contacted the hotel and was told that the manager I was transferred no longer works there. Obviously, this hotel does not care about their patrons

Booked a lake front room. Easily checked in. Started down the hallway to our room and it smelled, musty. We got in our room, first floor. It was extremely musty smelling. My eldest son is very sensitive to things like mold started coughing shortly after. We left the room, walked around the lake front. Came back, and we started noticing more of the moisture problems. Everything with fabric felt damp. The carpet. Chairs. I then noticed the metal lamp bases were metal, and rusted (moisture). I was telling my eldest boy as he was coughing badly I bet there’s mold in this room. He points to the wall near the ceiling. You mean like that black mold there. I confirm, yup, just like that black mold on the wall! We start looking and see more moldy spots. My wife and I go to the front desk, and explain what’s going on. The front desk fella was very helpful. Got us a new room on the 4th floor. Said they know they have moisture issues in some rooms. Then offered to discount our $280 stay to $180 (we never asked for a discount that was offered by the hotel staff themselves). The second room was dry. A light didn’t work in it. Was a basic hotel room. Mini fridges aren’t included at this hotel. Over a week later, I check my credit card for a credit as promised. It’s not there. I contact Expedia, they call the hotel. Hotel confirms they moved our room but deny the credit they offered on their own accord. Bonus review- the Steelbound restaurant in the hotel. Food & service was awful.

Check in was very easy. Staff was excellent and friendly. Breakfast was ok!

There was nobody at the front desk for 10 minutes when we arrived. When we found the clerk she was rude and very unhelpful. Asked for directions to a restaurant- she just shrugged. Asked for a 7:30 am wake up call from her- we never got it. TV had no sound- called for help and got none.

I can’t rate anything. Had to cancel daughter sick and got babysitter boys sick. Unfortunately, i did not get insurance to cover cancellation. However, i did cancel and ask for grace. No one returned call like the front desk said they would.

We had a great stay, and Heather at the front desk truly made the experience stand out. She checked us in quickly, was incredibly friendly, and made us feel welcome right away. Her professionalism and positive attitude set the tone for our entire visit. Thank you, Heather!

We've stayed here several times in the last 2 years. The Indian food on Mon & Tues nights at the Steelbound Brewery in the hotel is great (as is the beer)! Beds are comfy. Rooms are clean. Best part of this hotel is the staff. They are friendly, responsive, and professional. There is a sidewalk along the lake that is wonderful for walking before or after a long car ride. It's easy to get to the hotel from I-90.For the money, it's a great deal!

Lake Erie

Beautiful property located right in Lake Erie. We felt very safe taking a peaceful evening stroll along the water to watch the sunset. Just a couple miles drive to SUNY Fredonia.

It is an older hotel with ALOT of potential. Great location right on the water; Good restaurant (although out of Beef on Weck!); pleasant staff. Needs upgrading but with limited options in Dunkirk/Fredonia I would recommend.

I would recommend this hotel for anybody who is interested in a nice place on the lake.

Beautiful location on Lake Erie.

This hotel is in a great location right on Lake Erie in Dunkirk, NY not far from SUNY Fredonia. We loved the lake view and the fact that we could walk right to the waterfront from the back door of the hotel. The room was spacious for a family of four, the staff were friendly, and the restaurant was good. The room was looking a little worn, the bathroom needs a vent fan, and the room's rug seemed slightly damp.

I stay here every time I am taking my daughter to college or bringing her home. The property is just beautiful & has access to a beautiful walking path along Lake Erie. The staff is always super polite & helpful. Plenty of dining/shopping options nearby. SUNY Fredonia is an easy short drive up Central Ave.

We only had to stay over for 1 night waiting to pick up 1 of my sons from SUNY Fredonia. The gentleman that checked us in was super friendly. Quick and easy checkin and check out. Very comfortable beds. The hotel is close to everything. Loved that it’s right on the lake. We’d definitely stay here again.

Staff was great, room was comfortable, and breakfast was delicious.

Stayed overnight for a fishing trip on Lake Erie. Room was clean, quiet and comfortable. Staff was friendly and attentive. Steelbound brews and excellent food was a nice bonus. We will definitely be back.

Loved it! Great location, excellent Indian Food!! Friendly and helpful staff. The only issue is the TV. The front desk had to help twice during my 3 days, you have to unplug connection, get into the source and mess with an antennae. Beware ever time you turn it off you have to repeat the process. 😱in this day and age you really need to fix this. Shameful. All else was great but that was aggravating!

The room was great but the service at the in house restaurant was terribe!!!

We had a great overnight stay here between fishing outings on Lake Erie. Friendly staff and Jenn does a great job with breakfast! Stellbound is an added plus!
