The J Hyde Park Hotel

Spent a few nights at the J Hyde Park- double and twin rooms. Overall 4/5. PROS-well appointed rooms, air conditioned, smart tv, comfortable beds, clean bathrooms and great location to both Bayswater and Queensway tube stations, many shops and restaurants and easy walk to Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens. CONS- 24/7 front desk is NOT accurate. It took up to 40 mins at a time for anyone to attend the desk and often only after pressing the ring doorbell consistently. The morning desk staff was also difficult to communicate with due to language barriers. There is no common space to sit and the absence of a lift makes it difficult to take large suitcases up the staircase (61 steps in our case) and would not be possible for those with mobility issues. I would stay here again because the pros outweighed the cons.

Need elevator to bring up and down the luggage.

The front desk staff was lovely but rarely at the front desk because they also seem to do all the cleaning. We were on the 5th floor and getting up all the stairs was quite difficult as the stairs are narrow. Room was fine (beds were really comfy) but it’s smaller than a dorm. Bathroom was large and modern. It’s very quaint and the area is great.

The location is excellent. The beds are comfortable. The hotel is old; there's no elevator, and cold air comes in through the old windows. The heating system doesn't work properly. The ventilation in the bathroom doesn't work. There's no place for toiletries (shampoo, toothbrush, etc.). The reception isn't staffed 24/7; it's only staffed between 2:00 PM and 10:00 PM.

Guys don’t listen to the bad reviews we seen them after we booked and were very hesitant but genuinely we were shocked as it was amazing, clean , ac was working and beds were clean and fresh. The room is adequate size we booked the twin bed suite and the shower was very clean and staff were nice and accommodating with everything . Highly recommend this as it’s in a beautiful location . However if you get a room above second floor it’s a bit of a mission to get up and down as there are no lifts but overall amazing would highly book again!!!

It’s walking distance from the Bayswater underground. There are shops and cafes nearby too. We showed up and waited outside the locked front door for about 10 mins before we were buzzed in. Front desk staff apologized for he was praying. The ‘lobby’ was bare and obviously a converted old room. We were checked in to the highest floor (4) and it was a huge struggle to carry a suitcase up the narrow and uneven stairs. Though the staff offered to help us, the whole place seemed strange so we did it ourselves. The room we got was very tiny and had a hard time moving around even though our 2 luggage’s remained closed and upright. The room itself was generally clean but very tight. We kept the window open all night to get airflow and the bed was small for two people. The shower worked fine for just a night but outdated and bare. Luckily we only stayed for 12 hours overnight. Would not stay here again.

Front desk is not 24hours. Theres only 1 front desk agent working at a time. So if they step away from desk when you are checking in, you have to wait until they come back (which means waiting outside. There are no elevators so you have to walk up a lot of stairs to go up to your rooms. Staff doesnt even offer to help carry your luggage. The doors to thebrooms have considerable space beneath them, so when going to sleep, a lot of light from the hallways leaks into your room. If you are a solo traveler who needs a cheap room, its decent, but I wont be staying here again.

It is in a safe area. The rooms are very clean. The bathrooms have been updated and have lovely showers with great water pressure. The staff are lovely, perhaps a bit shy, but very kind and helpful when needed. This is a great place if you are spending your time sightseeing and are just returning for showers and sleep. It's is not a hotel I would stay expecting spa like experiences or spending the day in the room. We stayed in a triple room and there was plenty of room for 3 of us and all our full sized luggage to walk around. We stayed in November and our room temperature was very comfortable. There is adjustable heat and air conditioning in each room. As mentioned before, the rooms and bathrooms were very clean, however there was some mould starting in the bottom of our shower. Likely due to guests not using the fan, not a housekeeping issue. The bathrooms come with a small bottle of combination shower gel/shampoo. There are towels and hand towels, but no face cloths which I found a bit odd. There are only stairs to the upper rooms, however staff offered to bring up luggage. Staff are on site at reception from 8am-8pm, after that there is a Ring doorbell that must be pressed after hours to reach hotel staff. Will not recommend to stay here. Room is hot and study, sheets and towels were stained (not clean) and the room lights went out twice during the stay - took awhile for them to fix the lights back on). Checked out 2 days earlier cos couldn’t take it , and hotel refused to refund the 2 nights

Super tiny room but the hotel desperately needs to solve not having an elevator (maybe hire a bell boy?). The carpet outside of rooms is filthy. Same for the doors. Shower door didn't close so the water would leak outside into the tiny bathroom. Curtains were also super dirty. Room was fine for 2 days but that was it. Good location by Hyde Park with one sto away from Paddington.

Das Zimmer war bei Ankunft sauber. Das Bad ist neu und bisher eines der schönsten, die wir in London hatten (fahren seit 18 Jahren nach London). Wir hatten auf Wunsch ein Zimmer im oberen Stock (70 Stufen 😅). Die jungen Männer am Empfang waren nett und hilfsbereit. Was ich aber zuerst für einen Textfehler hielt, war dann doch so. Keine Reinigung des Zimmers während unseres Aufenthalts! Für drei Nächte okay, aber länger hätte ich es ohne Reinigung auch nicht haben wollen. Die Abfallkörbe waren voll, das Toilettenpapier fast verbraucht. Wir hatten auch jede nur 1 Badetuch bekommen. Zudem war das Fenster kaputt und im Bad ging das Rollo zwar runter, aber nicht wieder hoch. Am zweiten Tag haben wir demonstrativ mit unserem Schild "Please make up the room" in die Flurkamera gewedelt. Da wir uns gedacht haben, es kommt niemand in den vierten Stock, um zu gucken, ob das Schild an der Türklinke hängt. Wir sind aber gleich davon ausgegangen, dass auch das ignoriert wird, und so war es dann auch. Das war in den 18 Jahren die erste Unterkunft, wo keinerlei Putzpersonal zu sehen war. Wie und wann dort die Zimmer gereinigt werden bei Gästewechsel – keine Ahnung! Für uns kommt diese Unterkunft leider nicht mehr in Frage.

The location is near Hyde park and good. There are some supermarkets and cafes in this area. The room is tidy and spacious. Water and coffee are placed in the room. However, the shower room is not so clean.

When we checked in only one of the two keys worked. This was not good as we needed them to reenter the property. We asked to get them rekeyed, but didn't didn't work. We stayed for 8 days and never saw a cleaning person..we ran out of clean towels and toilet paper (we had to buy our own). My husband ran down when he happened to see someone in the reception room and asked for towels.. they didn't have any clean bath towels and only gave him hand towels. Only one of the three windows to the room locked. There was long black hair throughout the room on the floors. The sink didn't drain right and there was no where to hang the towels. The door to the hall sticks badly (a real hazard if there were to be a fire) I wouldn't recommend staying here.

Clean room, brand new bathroom facilities, had air conditioning (which we so appreciated during the London heat wave). Great area with lots of food options close by on Queensway.

THIS PLACE IS A SCAM!! Don’t stay here. It’s not a hotel, it’s more like a hostel with nice pictures to sucker tourists. We rented the family deluxe 3 bedroom suite, with a king bed, large twin, regular twin rooms. What we found was a basement room with 3 crammed beds, no windows, and a locked door to a drain well where you just heard the sound of rain hitting pavement in stereo. We alerted hotel.com who told us we can cancel the rest of our reservation and we booked a last minute alternative which was very expensive but I had no choice. Of course the hotel now is not only not refunding us, they are illegally keeping the money for the additional nights that we had already checked out for per their 24 hour cancellation policy. Neither hotels.com or the hotel are responsive. Stay away from this scam and book a reputable hotel!!

Room on the small side for a double but perfectly adequate for me. Bed comfortable - bathroom looked recently fitted. Plenty of sockets and USB points near the pillow end of the bed — THANK YOU! That is too often not the case. Check-out at midday - again, THANK YOU. Just the right time

Initially nobody was answering the doorbell. We did arrive slightly earlier than scheduled but it would have been nice to have somebody or something to inform us what we could do. We were then welcomed by a young man who wasn’t really suitable for front of house as the interaction was very minimal. We received a card for our door and a few instructions and off we went to our room. The room itself was clean and tidy but so small. Sold as a double deluxe en-suite is a huge exaggeration. It was absolutely tiny, ok so it’s London, but our stay in NYC offered a larger room with a warning about size. The en-suite bathroom was clean and the shower high enough for someone 6’3”, but the water temperature was not hot at all. The TV didn’t work as it had no signal so we had to entertain ourselves with phones etc. Facilities in the room were of a decent standard, although for such a small room, I’m not sure why it requires such a big phone on the side. Ironing board, iron and hair dryer all came in handy but all in all, the hotel for the price was disappointing. The view from 510 wasn’t good sadly, just roofs and back gardens.

The room was very small and in the basement. Couldn't get the TV to work. Had to wait for someone to come to check us in. Most of the staff spoke very limited English.

Staff member on front desk was quite rude on arrival, however was able to accommodate us changing rooms as we did not want to stay right by the entrance on the ground floor in a room on its own, which i don’t believe should be a room, however said ‘only because you checked in earlier than the next person’. Room was small however had no issues and was a pleasant stay overall.

Dans l’ensemble : service et réception mauvaise. Nous avions un carreau cassé (voir photo) dans notre chambre et il n’était pas possible d’ouvrir la fenêtre. Quand nous l’avons fait remarquer au réceptionniste il nous a rétorqué : “Et vous en pensez quoi ?” Comme s’il attendait que nous trouvions la solution. À part ça, l’insonorisation est mauvaise : on entend tout ce qu’il se passe dans les couloirs et chambres voisines, la porte laissait passer la lumière du couloir allumée toute la nuit, et les joins de la douche étaient moisis (moisissure orange). Il n’y avait personne à la réception (pourtant ouverte) lors du check-out et donc nous n’avons pas pu valider le rabais dont nous avions discuter avec le réceptionniste. Même pour le prix nous ne pouvons pas recommander cet établissement de par son manque de propreté, de sérieux et de considération pour sa clientèle.

Honestly, looks exactly like the photos. Was surprisingly so clean despite other reviews. NO ONE WAS EVER AT THE FRONT DESK. EVER. LOL so don't expect any help during the stay. Otherwise, was great.

Room: The room was clean and adequately furnished, but nothing special. The bed was reasonably comfortable, room was nicely decorated. Service: The staff was polite but not especially warm or proactive. Check-in and check-out were a bit confusing as the booking system had me already booked in??, but I didn’t get the sense that customer service was a high priority. This hotel is absolutely phenomenal for its price. I couldn’t believe how large my room was and how amazing the bathroom was. It looks a little shabby when you first walk in, but when you get to your room, you can see how they have modernized everything. Sadly, the company doesn’t employ extra cleaners so the poor receptionist have to do everything so bear with them if you arrive and there is no one on the front desk. They will definitely come if you just shout out for them. They let me check in early and they held my cases at reception on my checkout. The gentleman on reception were more than gracious and helpful to a single woman that I was alone. The rooms were so so quiet and warm and the TV was exceptional. The beds are super comfortable and just around the corner. You are within everything the best restaurants and cafés and a 10 minute tube ride to the center of London. I have stayed in more star hotels in worse condition than this one so for safety and quiet this is the one. Just be patient with a lack of stuff sadly, but everything else is phenomenal and the staff that are there are wonderful.

La struttura è rinnovata, la camera piccola ma confortevole come il bagno che è dotato di una doccia spaziosa, con aria condizionata. Il personale è gentile. E’ ben ubicata perché vicina alla metropolitana di Bayswater e a negozi e ristoranti.
