Hotel was under construction but was still enjoyable. Clean room with great pillows, bedding and mattress. Only complaint is $10/day parking fee for their lot which does not even have enough spaces for all the guests. Parking fees at hotels really irk me.

Property is in the process of rebranding to a Hilton property. Lots of construction and upgrades to property. Restaurant and workout area not available. Room was comfortable and stylish. Bathroom with walk in shower was premier. Nice stop on.way back to home.

The entire place is being remodeled. There is no lobby, its a construction site. We were awoke to saws & jackhammers at 8am on a holiday.

staff was friendly and pleasant, room rate was lower which was good. Most ameneties were not available as its going thru a rebuild. No restaurant, no gym, lobby was under construction, pool was not heated and hot tub did not have jets working. Parking was $10 a night when there is a free public lot next door seemed chinsy to charge for parking when most of property was not available to use. Beach is walking distance which is very nice, overall once place is finished it should be very nice.

Staff was very nice. They’re undergoing some renovations but the hotel is still fine. The restaurant is only open for breakfast at this time. There is plenty to eat around the area though. Easy beach access, easy parking, relatively quiet.

The hotel was doing renovations so things were somewhat noisy and dusty. The rooms were large and comfortable. There was a charge of $10 per day for parking that I don't remember seeing on the web site. Either way, charging a guest for parking who is staying there is unacceptable. Overall great stay though.

The hotel is currently under renovation. The room was very spacious, but there weren't any towel bars. The staff was friendly. There is a restaurant on site, but we didn't try it. Lots of parking. Downtown was a short drive. The hot tub was not working, and the pool is not heated. In fact, I think the pool may have had ice injection BRRR! Short walk to the beach. For the cost I expected everything to be in working order. Apparently, the hotel has been purchased by Hilton.

Castillo Real feels like being in Mexico! The location is great, the beach is close and wonderful restaurants very close by. I was disappointed that the work out area and the hot tub were closed ‘due to construction’ but the construction was going on somewhere completely different in the hotel. When everything is in working order, I know this hotel a gem!

Loved the hotel. Great location. Staff were excellent. Sadly the hotel is undergoing renovations so a little noisy during the daytime and some dust. Also, hot tub and sauna were out of order. But would definitely stay here again.

Stay for the weekend with my husband, great location walking distance to restaurants. Beautiful hotel only one thing that needs to be workout with in the hotel, house cleaning needs to have better service when it comes to cleaning rooms is a BIG much!!!! Making sure all rooms have clean linens, pillows ,blanks and plenty of towels. We arrived at our hotel, very pleased with the size of the room but later on that night when we got back to the hotel to go to bed, the comforter and sheets had blood stains on them hotel was very understanding about the situation refund us our money back for the room. I’ll definitely give this hotel a second chance. Hopefully they can work out the kinks in their house cleaning service.

This hotel is under renovations and probably shouldnt be open during the process. Maid service gave us clean towels, but didnt clean the room. There was hair in the shower, and no bathroom vanity lighting other than a floor lamp. The outdoor hot tub needed cleaning. The location was great for us.

Dinning room and lobby are undergoing construction. Place was immaculate. The location is excellent. Fourth location I have stayed in at St Augustine Beach, by far the nicest and the cost reasonable.

Horrible Stay – Roaches and Blood on Sheets I had an incredibly disappointing experience during my stay at this hotel. Upon entering the room, I immediately noticed alive roaches crawling around. To make matters worse, when I went to inspect the bed, there was visible blood on the sheets. I informed the staff about these issues, but to my shock, they did absolutely nothing to accommodate me or rectify the situation. There was no offer to change my room, provide clean sheets, or even an apology for the unsanitary and unsafe conditions. This level of disregard for cleanliness and guest comfort is completely unacceptable. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, and I sincerely hope management takes this feedback seriously to ensure future guests do not have the same experience.

Construction everywhere. Room still had construction dirt in all areas. Paint splatters, construction dust, floor covered with grit, no closets or place to hang clothes. Dust in air in hallways and room. Room should never have been rented out without a thorough cleaning and all amenities in room completed. Very disappointed with place and staff were not helpful. Complete false advertising.

Well, I always book hotels with good customer reviewes, but maybe the reviews for this one are fake? First when we entered the building, we saw an "under construction" lobby. With dust everywhere. Nobody to welcome us. Just a sad table. After waiting for a while, a guy showed up with towels in his hands and gave checked us in. We went into the room and saw an incomplete hotel room. Like, fridge was in the middle of the room on the floor with microwave on top of it and the fridge making annoying noise. Air vent was broken (was out of its place). Half of a wall was painted white and half grey (you could see where they stopped paining with a roller). Took a shower and when wanted to use a towel, I saw black stains all over the towel. I took another towel and saw stains all over it again with long and short hairs stuck to the towel. Absolutely disgusting. I asked the front desk to bring me towels he came to the room with five or six more towels. I checked every single one of them and they were all stained. They obviously do not know how to clean towels. I am filing a complaint against the hotel

Place is dirty. Staff is rude and slow, under construction and dirty as well. Rooms had hairs everywhere, sheets were full of sand. Outside balcony doors didn’t lock. Shower rod fell down while using, only 2 towels in room. Lights at vanity didn’t work. Beds hard and noisy. Left at midnight and didn’t even stay.

When we arrived the toilet seat was completely broken off. The lamp which was the only light source in the bathroom was also broken. The next day we left early and returned to all of the water being completely out. While trying to sleep that night a giant cockroach walked into our room and we had to kill it.

I was a little concerned when, after i booked, i got a text saying they were undergoing renovations BUT it was way better then we expected. Freshly painted, very clean. Pool area was very nice. Our room was huge and lovely. The only complaint, was the air conditioning in our room. It was extremely loud when it ran. And it was either warm or cold, didnt keep a consistent temperature.

The hotel was nice and looks like it will be beautiful after renovations, but we did have a couple issues. There were a couple of problems with our room; the water pressure was non-existent (think camper shower), and the sink in the bathroom was clogged on our first night. When maintenance fixed the sink during the second day of our two day stay, they broke the pipe below the sink and just left it broken so that whenever you used the sink the water immediately fell out onto the bathroom floor. We were not able to use the sink for the remainder of our stay. My husband informed the staff of the issue but they did not offer any remedy to the issue. All in all, the stay was okay but definitely not 'resort' quality.

Stayed for one night. It was under construction which wasn’t a huge deal. Bed was comfortable. The back and side doors didn’t function. Some finishes weren’t done and some light fixtures didn’t work. And the shower pressure was low but otherwise it was fine. The staff was nice.

The hotel is under renovation. Which is fine. But it was just a mess. The rooms were not too comfortable. Bathroom is weird. Shower was a little hard to work out. Nowhere in the shower to hold stuff like soap or shampoo. The water gets way everywhere in the bathroom. i felt the bed was comfortable.

This was our second trip to the St. Augustine area and our first stay with the Castillo Real. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and our stay was pleasant. The hotel is undergoing some renovations, so there was construction noise between 9a-5p each day (we knew this before arriving). Our room had a few quirks - the sink area was lit with a floor lamp instead of a traditional vanity, the floor had a transition that wasn't level, and there was only one towel hook in the bathroom, with none near the sink. The shower water was always warm, but never got super hot. All of this may have been due to the construction in process, but it was a little odd. The bed was comfy, the room spacious, and the experience nice. The location is great - very easy to access and get in/out. The beach is an easy walk, and whether you're going to stay at the beach or visit parts of St. Augustine, the hotel is very conveniently located. We'd gladly stay here again.

The hotel was under minor repairs, but it didn’t really interfere with my stay. The front desk employees were very nice, and they even let us check in a little early. There are places to eat and shop in walking distance to the hotel. It wasn’t crowded during my stay, and I never heard other guests when I was in my room. The section of the beach near the hotel didn’t get crowded during the week I was there. Some of the outlets didn’t work in the bathroom, and the shower’s water pressure wasn’t great. Still, I’d stay there again. I’m sure the minor issues will be handled once the repairs are all finished.

Nice hotel, loved the proximity to the beach and the pool was nice. The remodel wasn’t quite finished but the noise wasn’t close to us so didn’t impact our stay. Our room felt a little unfinished, there wasn’t a light by the bathroom mirror and there wasn’t a place to hang towels or swimsuits in the bathroom.

The front desk was friendly and prompt, but there were vehicles parked all over the place so parking was a pain, and they dont tell you until you get there that you have to pay for parking. The tour trolley also comes through and it congests the parking area. The room was average, but not fully clean. There were no lights over the bathroom sink area, but a standing floor lamp unplugged in the corner. The safety locks on the door were improperly installed. The showers water pressure was so bad you could barely rinse the soap off. The pillow cases were dirty, and there were bugs in the room.

The property was very clean. The room was spacious and had both a refrigerator and microwave which made it very convenient. The front desk staff were very kind and courteous. Rhonda went above and beyond to answer all question's we had, provide excellent customer service and was patient with us. The shower was very nice and TV's were very large. Despite the construction in the lobby, this was one of the best stays and we look forward to coming back!

Our check in was awesome on Friday night. The attendant at check in was great and very welcoming. Unfortunately, it went downhill From there. We did not have any hot water in our room the whole trip and when we asked about it, we were disregarded completely. They said no one else has complained and stated a maintenance person had looked into it. Later we found out that was a lie because the maintenance person was out injured. They did say they would have someone come look from another hotel, but not sure that actually happened because the water never got warm. We all avoided going in the hot tub or taking showers because it was just not comfortable to do so. They did offer a room change at one point, but when we went to look at it, the water still did not get above lukewarm. Overall, just very disappointed in the attitude of the staff and their disregard for our attempts to get it fixed, not only for us but for future guests. The renovations seem like they will be amazing, but with poor staff, it won’t make any difference. Wish we’d had the same gal as the first night for the whole stay.

While our actual room was nice & roomy, the building was under construction, we were greeted very poorly & rudely, tried checking in 3 times & our room was finally ready for check in at 5:30 pm, front desk was so rude, kitchen a real desk, just a table in the middle of a construction zone, late check in due to lack of staff we assumed, had we known that this place was so unorganized, we would’ve never booked a room, I would not recommend staying here until they are completely finished updating & getting properly staffed. Terrible experience.

We stayed for three nights and yes, they were booked on three separate reservations so It didn’t notify housekeeping every day but we went to the front desk three times and asked to have out room made up and even called down an additional two times and our room wasn’t made up a single time in three days and nobody ever seemed to care, my girlfriend and I walked around the hotel, and there was open doors for housekeeping services so we found our own towels and found some additional toilet paper on one of the cleaning carts. After spending close to C$1000 on the hotel for three nights having to find your own towels or knowing that the staff doesn’t care is a tough pill to swallow. There was also black hair and pubic hair in the shower from the previous guest, which shows you the rooms are not being cleaned properly, even when they will be attended to I gave you an extra star for service because the gentleman at the front desk is extremely accommodating and very friendly, either he never made the calls for housekeeping or housekeeping just didn’t care, but he was the only bright spot at your hotel was how friendly he was Showers also do not get hot here and they are temperature controlled, but they were still hotter than some of the other hotels we stayed at during our trip. Everyone seems to have the heat turned down in Florida.

Upon arriving, the lobby floor was not very clean. This was not a great first impression. I had difficulty hearing the person who checked me in because of the noise from the restaurant. There was a very loud party going on. I thought perhaps it was a cocktail lounge. The person who checked me in was not particularly friendly or helpful. However, I have to say that the staff from that time on were very welcoming and accommodating. My room was huge and very clean and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom did not have any lighting over the sink area. The only light was a pole lamp. I had to pull it closer to the sink to be able to see. The shower was very large. Unfortunately, there was no place to put soap, shampoo, or even a washcloth. The bathroom definitely needs hooks for hanging towels and clothing and shelves in the shower for soap and shampoos. The front desk manager, I believe her name was Rhonda, checked us in and went above and beyond to make sure we liked our room option, had towels and even rounded up some beach chairs for us. I can’t wait to visit again after all the renovations are complete. This place will be a gem!

Check in experience was unacceptable. Arrived early and was given parking lot pass. Was told to come back at 3 pm for check in . Room still was not ready at stated check in time. Kept getting excuses as to why room was not ready( new personnel, taking longer than expected). Poor customer service. No hair dryer in room, had to request next day. Asked for additional towels, was only given two for three people because that was all that was available. Would not compensate for anything because booking was through a third party. Would not stay again.

Beautiful hotel. The restaurant, sauna, and fitness room were under construction when we were there. But the rooms were quiet. The outdoor pool and hot tub looked great and the beach is just down the street. The hotel was quiet. The staff was nice too. The only odd thing was that our room’s lamps were bright white harsh bulbs instead of the soft warm yellow bulbs you usually get. That was a surprise, but overall the start was very pleasant and it’s perfectly situated on St. Augustine beach and just 15 minutes from the historic district.

The restaurant was a real disappointment. The prices are high and the quality of the food wasn’t good. We only ate breakfast once, because of it. The hotel is still under construction, which I didn’t know when I booked. There were lots of workmen, loud music and the sounds of equipment at all hours of the work day. The hoses outside the side door do not work to adequately rinse the sand off before entering the hotel. There isn’t even a hose on the back side of the hotel which also leads to the beach. The valet parking seems unnecessary in such a small space. I didn’t enjoy paying extra for tipping. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. They immediately addressed some issues we had with keys not working, extra towels and loud music while we were trying to enjoy the pool.

I was overall pleased with the hotel. However, I was disappointed that the breakfast that was supposed to be included is not actually included because the restaurant is closed. Also, there was only decaf coffee in my room. It was too late to swap it out when I realized it close to checkout time. The amount spent for the one night stay should have included the breakfast that was Advertised as included.

The pool was nice and the steam room was refreshing. However, the sauna did not work and the restaurant was not open and that was not mentioned when we called them. Also, they are undergoing construction in the lobby and that was not mentioned either. They should be upfront about the condition that their hotel is in when people book a room.

The property was mostly clean, especially the room itself. I could tell they just went through some remodel as everything looked nice but the lighting in the room was poor as was the shower set up. The pool was so cold we couldn't use it. The hot tub was dirty and didn't work and was also cold. The onsite restaurant was very bad with poor service and sub par tasting food.

Location is great. Close to a lot of good restaurants. Hotel was very clean and well-maintained. The manager was visible the entire time and very friendly and helpful. The pool was clean and a good temperature, despite the scorching temperatures outside. The room was spacious and clean. The walk to the beach is not bad at all. You can access it from either side of the building (9th or 10th street). The fitness room is much nicer than most hotels- it looks recently redone and even has a small fridge with waters and balcony area. Not a lot of equipment, but it feels clean and open. The only negative I have is that I didn’t realize we would need to pay for parking separately. We booked on Hotels.com and either it didn’t mention that or I didn’t read carefully. Parking was $22 a day. Breakfast is not free, but they do have a small bar/restaurant open certain days and times. For the price, this hotel exceeded our expectations.

You can access it from either side of the building (9th or 10th street). The fitness room is much nicer than most hotels- it looks recently redone and even has a small fridge with waters and balcony area. Not a lot of equipment, but it feels clean and open. The only negative I have is that I didn’t realize we would need to pay for parking separately. We booked on Hotels.com and either it didn’t mention that or I didn’t read carefully. Parking was $22 a day. Breakfast is not free, but they do have a small bar/restaurant open certain days and times. For the price, this hotel exceeded our expectations.

Mattresses were lumpy and firm. Hard to get a good night's sleep. We loved everything else but sadly we will not stay again - the mattresses were that bad. At least for both of us. We don't have a lot of body fat so it might work for some one with more padding. And like I said everything else was terrific.
