Basecamp Boulder

Simple, clean, cozy rooms with comfortable beds and good pour over coffee. The property has a lot to offer - a game room with a fireplace, plenty of board games, couches and tables, a rock climbing wall, and a ping pong table; outdoor fire pits where you can roast marshmallows; a sauna and hot tub; and a bar area where you can get beer and wine. Also, I would like to give a shout out to the staff here - they were very accommodating and friendly, going above and beyond to make sure we had a comfortable stay. They kept the hot tub and sauna room open a little longer for us one night, and let us leave our car in the parking lot for a few hours after we had checked out due to a snow storm that made it difficult to drive. My husband and I had a great time here and we would definitely stay again!

Basecamp Boulder is a really fun place to stay. The rooms aren’t fancy but they’re great if you’re just making it your “basecamp” and out hiking, biking, and enjoying the Boulder area all day, which is what we did. The rec room is an added bonus and a fun place to gather. Having coin laundry right there was very helpful. We’ll definitely stay there again!

Likes: location, unique, great hot water in the shower, cookies in reception area, nice bartender, bed was comfortable, Dislikes: Peeling paint in the bathroom, very small, lobby closes early 10pm, doesn't open until 8am, old pingpong equipment, we never got to play because another couple was playing forever, should be a time limit, hot tub not working due to a busted pipe, you can hear people walking on the 2nd floor (we were 1st floor)

I really enjoyed my one night stay! Check in went well, was able to drop luggage in room, and then go down for a glass of wine, enjoyed the outdoor seating, perfect for some family time, they have games and puzzles and a rock wall, jacuzzi and sauna! Complimentary coffee in the morning! John was very pleasant to chat with! Would stay there again!

Overall ok. Bummed our tv never worked and desk sent me a text with things I could try to Get a signal. Ice machine broke and hot tub heater broke “ a few days ago”. Liked the convenience to CU boulder.

Had high hopes for this motel in Boulder. It gets high marks for proximity to Pearl St (10 min walk), grocery stores & amenities (2-min drive), rentable bikes, plus a burger place next door. It gets middling reviews for the things that were advertised but not available, such as a working sauna, s’mores kits & dependable WiFi. It gets meh reviews for the super tight parking, a weird smell in our room, the lack of vacuuming (enjoyed crunching the previous guests’ potato chip remnants for a few days) & lack of decent lighting, and the minuscule bathroom. Our room needs some maintenance love—bathroom door hook about to fall off, the beadboard paneling that is buckling, etc.

Property was very nice and enjoyed the theme. The spa and sauna was a nice way to end the day. Bed was very comfortable and the staff was great. Look forward to coming back! Thank you

Unique take on an old motel stay! Check in was easy, though parking was tight for our F150. Great hot tub, sauna, and common area—we grabbed burgers from around the corner and brought them back to eat at the tables.

The rooms were spacious and clean. The staff was friendly. It’s a short walk to Pearl street. The game room is a nice place to hang out. The worst thing is the parking lot. It gets packed and the spots are very tight. The lot is small which makes getting out of the spots difficult. If someone doesn’t park right on the ends, there are fewer spaces. It would be ideal if there was a better fridge in the rooms and if there were free coffee in the lobby.

It was great for the price. It’s not a five star hotel, but that’s not what we expected it to be either. The location is great and there is a lot of Lime scooters laying around that make getting around easy if you don’t want to walk. The hot tub wasn’t working unfortunately, but the staff members were really friendly and helpful. Instead of a mini fridge they have a couple coolers in the room which ended up working just fine. They also have a great little bar and outdoor patio that serves wine and local craft beers. Overall we were very pleased with our visit and would happily come back!

I chose this place based on reviews and location. The location is accurate walkable and easy to navigate in Boulder but the condition of the place leaves much to be improved. The room did not appear clean, it had a bit of a dingy smell, the carpet was in terrible condition there was not house keeping and despite multiple requests for coffee in my room, I did not get any. The towels felt wet, the walls look like they can use a paint job and on top of it all, I wasn’t able to get into my room until 6:30 after I arrived. This is a motel with a facelift, not the fun, hipster place it appears to be in the curated images on their website. Staff was kind of “checked out” like do you enjoy your job and don’t want to helpful? I know this might be a different vibe, but for 211 dollars a night, I would like not to have for someone to come to the welcome desk and not to have to ask for someone to take the trash out.

I was very disappointed at the room service. We spent the night got up showered came back to the room several hours later and still had wet towels on the floor, trash not picked up and beds not touched! Am I asking too much? The parking is very very tight. No refrigerator and no microwave. Floor underneath the bed was filled with dust bunnies. No I did not enjoy the stay. The check in staff was outstanding however….

Like any motel, nothing special. Dirty room carpet - place needs a facelift.

The condition of the room was very poor. Stains on carpet, peeling paint, terrible lighting and general poor construction that was falling apart. The heater made an awful high pitched whizzing sound every time it turned off that woke my husband and I up throughout the night. The room gave me the 'icks'. The overall property is fine and has a fun, kitschy feel but the room condition was terrible. It was a crappy motel room rather than a hotel. We won't be staying there again.

The concept of this hotel was good. It had a fun vibe in the lobby amenities and with the decor. However, the carpets were disgusting. The smell of the room was awful and it made you wonder about the cleanliness of everything. With that said the location is excellent. Easy walk to campus.

We arrived and told us our room was not ready. An hour later they called and told us our room was ready, along with a text confirming this. When we arrived for the second time they said it wasn’t ready and we had to wait an hour. Once in the room the ceiling in the bathroom was chipping and falling down. The light fixtures were slightly hanging off the wall. The mattress seemed really old and was formed to previous people laying on it. Not the cleanest place for the price. The staff however was very friendly.

I really really wanted to like Basecamp Boulder, but I don't feel the cost reflects the experience. Pros: - It's a short walk to Pearl St through nice areas (10-15 minutes) - There are places to eat nearby (Snarfburger and cafes) - The people who work here are all super friendly and helpful. We got a lot of great recommendations for the local area - We had a room with two queen beds which was spacious and had cute art/decor. Cons: - Noisy. Basecamp is an old motel with a facelift and while there was no one screaming or partying we could hear people in the room next to us who were talking at a normal volume. We could also hear/feel footsteps as people walked past the door. There was also a construction site directly behind our room. We didn't get much sleep unfortunately during out visit. - The room needed some TLC. The paint was chipping all around the door, parts of the walls and ceiling, there was almost no silicon around the bathtub, the carpet had stains and some of the towels/linens did too. - Other small issues include: no coffee/tea in the room, the ice maker was broken during our visit, the wifi was a bit selective of when it worked / didn't. We paid around $650 for 2 nights which didn't feel like good value based on the experience. If this was $100 / night, the issues wouldn't matter as much but they are charging nice hotel prices for a motel experience imo. Unfortunately, at the end of the day I think if we went back to Boulder we would stay elsewhere.

Cute clean rooms but the walls are so thin you can hear your neighbors conversations. Bathrooms could use an update but overall we enjoyed our stay.

It’s a traditional motel updated and themed to appeal to people interested in outdoor pursuits. Not fancy but comfortable and charming. I’d definitely return.

The staff was awesome and outdoor facilities such as fire pit, TV room, coffee bar, etc are really nice touches. It's extremely convenient to walk to Pearl Street, CU Boulder, and a lot of stores and restaurants. My room was on the first floor and we had a very noisy family above us. It sounded like they were lifting weights at 2:00 in the morning. I did tell the staff the next day and they must have said something. Our room smelled really musty/ mildew , if my daughter who has asthma would have stayed in it she probably would have an asthma attack. A few things didn't work in the room properly , but to be fair we didn't complain. Another downside of staying on the first floor is there are only blackout shades and nothing else , so if you want to open your windows everyone can look straight into your room.

The conversion of an old motel into a hip outdoor oriented place to stay at a reasonable price near CU Boulder was well done. But it’s still a motel with a parking lot in its center. The rooms where clean and fashionably appointed. The AC in our room did not work.

The pluses: -Location is excellent and central to many great parts of Boulder and a short drive or run to the Flatirons. -The staff were very friendly and responsive to a few issues I had over a two night stay; discovered the TV was broken on the first night and it was fully replaced the next day. -The property is mix of classic motel and modern outdoorsy vibe and highly stylized. Hot-tub and sauna were okay, but not really a selling point on 85 degree summer days. The "activity room" was off limits for one of two days due to a group function but looked cool? -The room was clean when I arrived and did not notice anything of immediate concern. Carpet is a bit old and worn but not the worst (by far) I've seen in similar hotels. The not so great: -Finishes in the room are a bit slapdash and not the greatest craftsmanship, especially in the microscopic bathroom. I doubt anyone over 5'6" could take a comfortable shower given the showerhead placement. -Being an older building, walls were fairly thin. Mostly not a problem until my second night, when downstairs neighbors returned at 1:30 AM, drunkenly screaming at one another, smoking weed (basically hotboxed my room) and coughing until 5 or so. Didn't have any issues with other patrons, which were mostly families and older adults. Overall, the price is justified by the location and "vibe" of the property, but don't expect a typical 8+ reviewed hotel quality in terms of modern comforts or refurbishments.

We waited almost 30 minutes to check in. No one was at the check-in desk or the office. When you called the number provided at the front desk for service, it rang at the front desk and no one was there to answer. When someone finally showed up, she noted that she was the only person on staff at the moment in the entire facility. The manager needs to be present on site if they cannot staff the facility appropriately. This poor girl should not be expected to do the work of three or more people. She was friendly and upgraded us, which was nice, but I would not stay here again. Very poorly run. The room was not very clean. We had several bugs in our room and our sink was clogged. The carpet was dirty. It was super overpriced for basically being a cheap motel. Good location, which is about the only positive thing I can note.

Love staying places that are not big chains and comfortable chill laid back with a very informative helpful staff!!! Shout out from the front desk to all the staff

Great hotel. Rooms were very clean and updated. Staff was inviting and overly accommodating and responsive. Great deck for coffee in the am and drinks at night. Will defiantly be back for future stays

Great hospitality! They were able to change our room from king to queen beds when we got there.

I got locked out of my room in the evening and there was nobody on call or at the desk (or any other way to contact a worker) to let me back in, so I had to find other sleeping arrangements. Other than that the day workers were extremely nice and helpful, and the room was very nice.

I had the unfortunate experience of having my phone taken by another guest from the jacuzzi/sauna area the night before I was flying home and the staff was super supportive and helpful, as I didn’t know if it was stollen or what happened. Another guest had taken it accidentally, but without the help of the office manager I would not have been able to sort this out before flying out the next morning.

So the hotel was fine and clean but there was an issue at check in. Our flight arrived late, we gave them notice that we would be arriving late and so they texted late check in instructions for a lock box since the office would be closed. Upon arrival around 11/1130 we tried the key in the lockbox and it didn’t work, it was the wrong key. Totally understand that mistakes happen, but when we called the emergency number the guy on the other end gave us a hard time about calling him so late and was upset because he had to drive 20 minutes to let us into a room. What the? For that reason I’m giving 3 stars.

Great stay! Only thing is it said the Pearl street mall was a 10 minute walk. It’s a 10 minute walk only if you walk a 10 min mile. It’s 1.1miles away😂

LOVED it here. Great rooms, communal areas and a great selection of drinks at the bar. Safeway is a few blocks away and the Main Street too. We will be BACK!

Great location for walking to Pearl St for restaurants and shopping. Motel was basic but very comfortable.

Nice location, convenient to just about everything, with comfortable beds and good sized rooms! There was a great area for recreation with a “climbing wall” and two fire pits near a little bar for socializing/happy hour. Very cozy, and all of the staff were super friendly. We very much enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to come back again!

Cool Boulder vibes. Very friendly staff and bar & morning coffee both excellent. Not fancy but perfect for us and for hikers. Would recommend and would go back.

Basecamp Boulder is a really great, fun property. They have a cute coffee shop that even offers drinks at night… and has fire pits & smores kits. They also have ping pong & a rock climbing wall. The rooms are spacious!
