McClellan Inn

Whole property needs a good spring cleaning. From the little window where you check-in with cobwebs, the snack/ice area with various pieces of furniture stacked in it, to the parking lot with old parts of furniture sitting around. The tub has a crack in the side which appeared they attempted to patch but it is still cracked open. The latch on the inside of the door is missing so you can't secure it with the extra latch one would normally use. The smoke detector door is open with battery hanging out so not sure it would even work. Entire room and fridge have a 'old musty' smell. Needs a good airing out. Pillows had a smoke smell in them. Has a desk you can use, but no outlet to plug up your laptop if needed. Bed spread has holes in it and should have been thrown away years ago. Towels and wash clothes are super thin and not soft. Swapped out my towels during the day and turned the A/C off that I left on so it would be cool when I returned so took another hour to cool the room back down. Not a pleasant stay. Owners/Manager needs to take a step back and view this place from a guest's eyes. Seems they have become complacent and just on auto pilot. Definitely needs some attention.

Well, it was a last minute booking around 11:30p.m. I was headed to SC from Abilene, TX and decided to get a room bc my neuropathy was bothering me. I arrived right at midnight and there was a buzzer to ring bc you check in from a window while waiting outside. I wasn't disappointed in checking in. No cheerful greeting but I understand it being late. Everything was clean. I like that it is 1 story so you can park at the door to your room. Very quiet at night. I do believe they might need to update some mattresses. It was firm but lumpy like they might have been there for a while. So if you have issues in sleeping and need a soft mattress due to disability or arthritis in shoulders or hips you might not get much rest. It could have been just my body but that is something I would like to mention. It was advertised that a coffee/tea maker would be in the room but there wasn't one and I need coffee as soon as my eyes open. Would I stay again probably not just due to needing a softer mattress and no coffee maker. If you just need a clean place to crash, that is what this is.

Arrived at twilight and with the sign broken so thoroughly there was difficulty confirming this property still existed. Only my map confirmed it. Once inside the room, all was in fine shape.

So. Finding the place was intersting since thier sign is destroyed and doesn't aappear to be scheduled for replacement any time soon.

The staff was rude. There was no hotel sign to know if you were at the right location. The parking lot was destroyed. You could barely pull in without damaging your vehicle. I tried to checkout in the morning and after ringing the doorbell multiple times nobody answered ever. Finally just left the key in the room in frustration. The counters are remote were sticky. I’m afraid the Indian owners are not concerned about hygiene or service.

just need to clean up the outside. Location was the biggest thing for me & it appears they have new linen bedspreads and maybe even beds. Overall great quality for the price I think. No complaints I want and need to save money right now and don't expect the Ritz for the price so I am very very satisfied.

Do not be turned off by exterior. Room was clean and recently renovated. If you are ok with room opening out to parking lot this is a good deal.

Very little toilet paper. I had to go to the front office to get an extra roll right after I checked in. No walk in lobby. Had to ring an electric buzzer to get service and speak to the employee on duty through a small window. Made you think the area was not safe. The employee on duty was not proficient in English and hard to understand when I asked him a couple of questions.

Construction in parking lot. Food wrappers left inside night stand on both sides of bed. Bed had somewhat of a metal skirt around the bottom which made the bed sound like thunder when you moved. Front desk check in employee very hard to understand.

The motel is old, tired and musty, but convenient for anyone biking the Chief Ladiga/Silver Comet railtrail, which was the context for my stay. The motel is about one mile from the trailhead and there are many options within a short walk from the motel for calorie loading to fuel getting back on the trail the next day. I appreciated that the guy manning the front desk, seeing I was a sweaty guy who had just climbed off a bicycle, without a word or any request on my side, handed me a bottle of water.

There were live and dead bugs all over! Broken furniture, some kind of sludge in the fridge, and pubic hair in the bed and all over the bathroom!

I kept coughing throughout the night and turned the ac off. I looked in the unit and it looked like the unit had not been cleaned in a very, very long time.

I spent 7 nights and the bed was never changed. I had a couple little bugs in my bed , that was the last night I was there, I couldn’t sleep after seeing that

We saw stains on our bedding but when we showed the manager they replaced them right away with new clean ones. We appreciated that.

After killing 8 or 9 we packed up and left around 5pm. I mentioned it to the person at the desk and was told they have someone spray monthly. After telling me that they took the card and walked away. We didn't need to throw $80 away but I was not going to allow my family to stay there with roaches crawling over everything.

Nasty, unclean, stinky, broken derelict building with no sign notating you are even at the right place. If i had purchased the protection plan and could have canceled, I would have so fast. We put a chair under the door this place was so sketchy

The room was clean and comfortable. All fixtures worked and there was plenty of storage options. Bed was comfortable but there were small holes in the bed comforter and it was noticeably old.

Bathroom was dirty, walls dirty, covers stunk, holes in walls, no coffee pot, no blow dryer, no iron. The owner was cleaning a room with gloves on came to front desk to check me in with those gloves on, touched my license with those gloves on. We left after the first night. Went to a different hotel. They advertised as new owner and newly remodeled. Well our room was not remodeled. I would like to get my money back for the second night. I took pictures of the room.

Price was great. The wifi was not great.

Motocycle noise at night late

Clean, affordable and remodeled bathrooms in the last year. Attention to detail. Close to Chief Ladiga Trail. A number of cyclists stay here. I have talked to several from all around.

It was a quick trip and only needed to stay for a night. Room smelled clean and was clean. My only negatives were wanting to pay cash at checkin and wasn’t allowed to. Proximity to road. You could hear every car/truck/motorcycle that passed. The refrigerator made quite a loud noise when it turned on. It was fine for a night stay but if you go request the room furthest from the road.

The McClellan Inn Anniston is an example of hard work done by the couple that operate, and likely own, the establishment. The buildings are slightly aged, probably built in the 1970's but refurbished within the rooms. The rooms are basic, but comfortable. The heat/air units are very proficient. The beds are very comfortable. Each room has a microwave, small refrigerator (very good for cooling canned and bottled drinks) nice flat screen television with cable, ample drawer space, a desk, small couch and table, coffee maker, iron and ironing board, hair dryer and very well-lighted sink and mirror area. The bathroom, while small, is very impressive with a very nice walk-in shower. The service is more than adequate, cleaning service is good and the area is functional, especially if there on business. The establishment is within a quarter mile of several eateries, a large WalMart, an Aldi's, and is not excessively traffic burdened. Very suburban feel. Friendly, basic service by staff. Highly recommend for basic lodging needs.

The rooms were spacious and clean with a microwave and small fridge in the room. It was quiet with parking right in front of your room. There were dozens of channels on the TV including HBO and Cinemax. The snack machine

Newly updated bathrooms and clean rooms

Room was big and the bathroom was excellent. Very clean and spacious room. Loved the fact that the room has mini fridge and microwave. Staff was very friendly. The only thing we didn't like was the bed. Was a little too firm but thats our own issue not theirs. I would stay here again.

The room was very clean, internet access was very fast, but the tv was difficult for me get it to function.

Stayed 1 night and was going to pass through and stay a second night. My plans changed and I decided to cancel. The hotel was completely non-responsive to my cancellation and refund request through hotels.com after several direct communications. I never checked in for the second cancelled reservation and they tried to pocket the money which I only recouped through credit card dispute. I was told they were dismissive and hung up on the hotels.com representative.

Property Owners are very nice and accommodating. Very clean.

This reservation was cancelled in advance but hotel refused to honor cancellation. Hotel is very run down with dirty bedding also. I stayed 1 night a few days prior and cancelled this second night. The hotel initially told me they would honor my cancellation and refund then became totally uncooperative with hotels.com even hanging up on them. Area felt unsafe with police sirens through the night and dirty sheets and comforter and marginally functional door lock. I do not recommend this run down hotel based on its location, poor service and dirty worn out uncomfortable bedding

I would highly recommend this as a rest stop for biking the Chief Ladiga/Silver Comet trail. The place was well maintained and clean and the staff was very kind.

Stay was perfect!! Couldn’t ask for better service! Very friendly !! Nice to be greeted with a Good Morning every morning of our stay and was always asked if we needed anything. On scale 1-10 I’d give the couple managing this a 20. They were that impressive !!

I thought the property was a dump. I could not understand the lady at the window. She had such a thick accent that I could not tell what she was saying to me. I don’t like the fact that you used my debit card and charge me for a stay at the establishment and I never went to the rooms

Small hotel, close to Talladega for the NASCAR race. Very good rates. They don’t try to hose you knowing it’s race weekend. Spoke with the owners, very nice people. Room was kept up, fridge and TV worked. No complaints. Will go back for future races

I would NEVER stay at this location again. The staff was rude and unwelcoming. When I saw the motel, I GASPED! Did not feel comfortable in the room so I got little sleep.

rooms are very well maintained, very clean with nice in room amenities needed for any stay. Very close to the Chief Ladiga Trail, Mcclellan trails very close to JSU. It’s a historic downtown Anniston 2 miles north of the Anniston Museum and Gardens.

I stayed here on an out-and-back of the Silver Comet and Chief Ladiga trails. This hotel is close to the trailhead and has a good Mexican restaurant next door. Wal Mart, McDonald's and a couple other places are in walking distance. Will stay here again on the next trip. Updated rooms, clean.

The stay was nice and we were able to get a good sleep. The area around here feels unsafe and uneasy unfortunately. For the price, it was good. The owner is very nice and kind.

I stayed 2 nights. The room was not fancy but very clean and the bed was comfortable. It looked just like the photos in the listing. It was within walking distance of restaurants and the Chief Ladiga trailhead. There was an outdoor checkin and no breakfast, which I thought was understandable due to the lingering pandemic.

I am a cyclist and rode the Chief Ladiga Trail from Atlanta. This was convenient from the trail, good shopping, restaurants. The management allowed me to check in around noon. Very good Lodging!

No breakfast and english language is limited via telecon. I will never patronize this property in the future. I tried telecon to add one guest but party did not understand and I could not arrange for additional room until I physically arrived. If I were allowed to cnx I would at the moment. Very bad experience for the tenant/way too much confusion/and why not a complimentary breakfast, which is so common throughout the lodging industry?

it was a pleasing experience. they had hot water & assisted in anything we may need (toiletries). it was very quite & peaceful. and walking distance from several restaurants with a walmart a block away.

For the price I paid, it was very convenient to stores and other places I wanted to see.
