Eric Vökel Boutique Apartments - Atocha Suites

Really lovely place to stay, apartment had everything that we needed. Have stayed at other Erik Vokel apartments and they are always a high standard of accommodation. There was however something that we found quite bizarre during our stay. When we checked in we were told that the host would arrange for our towels to be changed on the 3rd day at 9am in the morning. I set an alarm to make sure we were up and not still in bed for when the cleaner arrived, but by 11am when we were getting ready to go out for the day they still hadn’t arrived. We went to reception on our way out just to check that someone would still come that day and was told that they didn’t come at 9am as we were in the room and they wouldn’t change the towels whilst we were there. I was unsure how they would know we were still in the room as you don’t pass the reception or anything when you come in or out of the entrance. The receptionist told me that they monitor the sound in the room and thats how they know if you are in or not. I find this quite bizarre and have never experienced anything like this wherever else I have stayed. I obviously don’t think they are listening in to your conversations or anything, but it just seemed a strange process to avoid someone coming into your room at a time you have agreed.

the location and the space itself were incredible. but when we arrived late at night, and the automated 24/7 check-in kiosk was out of printable cards, the check in process with my three children became extremely stressful. a staff person did arrive and after close to thirty minutes was able to let us into the apartment. no other staff followed up with us. ever. never saw or heard from another eric vökel professional at all. which was disappointing given the stressful circumstances of our first night.

The front desk staff went above and beyond to help us in everything! It was a very nice stay! Excellent location!

Clean room, easy check in

The check in system was not working and the there was no desk help since they leave at 5. The scanner was down so we had manually enter all the info which was a lot but it malfunctioning and keep starting over. the elevator was not working so we had to carry all the luggage upstairs. The pool was dirty and full bugs and hair. and the room keys didn’t unlock the main entrance door when coming and going so we got stuck for a while until we realized that they send a separate code upon check in through email which also had zero information of the property lay out so we had no idea where anything is. For how expensive it was, it was a total rip off
