Newer hotel, so as expected in regard to cleanliness/condition of hotel. Magnificent breakfast bar! Hate the internet process of having to redo the login each day and the signal is always cutting out (had schoolwork to do each day). My biggest pet peeve was that the only way to get ice is by taking the elevator down to the lobby bar and the fridges hold barely anything. Overall- nice place that is cheaply made. Good for our trip but would probably find somewhere with a pool and ice machine next round.

As a guest, I couldn’t even go to the rooftop because you had to have reservations to get on the rooftop. I just feel like as a guest that spends all this money to stay there the rooftop should be available for guest that staying at the property.

The only downside to this hotel is there’s no onsite parking. You have to do public self park & the discount code the hotel partner with doesn’t even work. It was frustrating. Best to stay if you have no vehicle.

We got locked in the elevator for about an hour right after checking in. The elevator door wouldn’t open. When we prompted the management afterwards on what they were doing for us, they were only willing to waive the facilities charge. We also had a bad management experience at the breakfast. They opened the breakfast buffet early to accommodate Chicago marathon runners However when I said that instead of eating there, I wanted to take two pastries to eat while walking to the race, they indicated that this wasn’t allowed. Both incidents showed a lack of care and concern for their customers.

Whole property was amazing. Gym was well equiped which is essential for me. Breakfast was outstanding!! For a free breakfast, that was totally amazing. One small detail all hotels should follow is hard floors throughout like this property. Nothing harder than dragging heavy luggage over carpet. Appreciated hard floors in the hallway and rooms

It is an average Hotel for a property which was built just over a year ago nothing remarkable. Breakfast was basic and no taste to it. Rooms were small and bathroom shower stall was dirty. Shower head had a weak pressure. No toiletries because of Illinois Ban. I think hotel gave me a bad room on 3rd floor because of one day stay. Well had taste of RIU branded hotel. Never going back.

RIU Hotel was amazing. Very clean rooms and hallways. No carpet which I really like. No issue with sounds from neighbors or other floors. Roof top bar was a pleasant surprise and the breakfast buffet was one of the best I’ve experienced. Highly recommend and my wife and I will definitely stay there in the future.

Review would be significantly better if they had hot water for taking a shower in the morning. And staff response to the issue was just to downplay and say they "were actively working on it". That is less than satisfactory for a hotel of this caliber. The hairs left in the bathroom were not ideal either. Not horrible, but just a little bit of empathy from the staff would have gone a long way after having to take a cold shower.

Our stay was overall really great! The breakfast buffet had a great variety of choices. We had breakfast 3 days and we never had the same thing. The beds were very comfortable and the room very clean. My only complaint is our bathroom. The water coming out of one sink did not have cold water. The water in the shower was never very hot.

Awesome sleep, comfy beds and blackout curtains. We missed not having ice machines located on our floor versus at the lobby bar. Breakfast was impressive, wish you served food for lunch & dinner. The TV was a bit disappointing. The guide did not show what was on. The instructions for casting from mobile device did not work but i found a work around. Overall, i will continue to stay at RUI in my travels.

The hotel itself is very nice. It’s clean, fresh, and bright, but… The wifi was wonky to get into and was slow as molasses. It felt like a 3G connection. Streaming video buffered and pixelated. Plus I couldn’t even tether my phone as an alternative because the AT&T reception in the building was so poor. The other issue was the water pressure. I got in the shower and was greeted by a weak dribble of a stream which was barely enough to get wet and not nearly enough to rinse out shampoo which I didn’t even attempt. And I was only on the third floor. I can’t imagine how much worse it might have been 5-10 floors above. I won’t be staying at the Riu again anytime soon.

Nice, but for $362. it was a very simple room on the 22nd floor, and overlooking rooftops. The TV didn't work and the technician who came to fix it said he would return while I was at dinner, which was fine. He never showed up.

Customer service was top rated. Jasmine at the front desk went above and beyond. Incredibly nice and helpful. She was super friendly. Jesus at the bar was amazing. His drinks were great and he was very friendly. I only wish they had vending machines and Diet Coke in the grab and go. Make sure not to miss the breakfast buffet. Thank you Riu. I will be back

The the guy who handles the luggage Jonah he was amazing and so was the tall African guy. I forgot his name. He was also very amazing handling our luggage. The service was just amazing.

We were able to check in early and having completed the online check in it was a breeze. Staff were always friendly and helpful. Bartenders and breakfast staff were great. We have fun times at the lobby bar and rooftop bar. The breakfast buffet was well organized with lots of different options. The area is in walking distance to shopping, The Art Institute and Navy Pier. There were a lot of restaurants to choose from nearby. Our room was big with space to move around and the bathroom/shower was equally spacious. I would stay here again.

Breakfast buffet was the best I have seen in any business class hotel - great variety, fresh, fully stocked. The hotel is new and beautifully decorated; the roof top bar has a great view and not too expensive. Fast elevators. The location is perfect for easily going to Michigan Avenue, The Navy Pier, catching a boat tour, etc.

Superb location. In the middle of the Magnificent Mile, within the walking distance to the Navy Pier and Millennium Park. 15 min drive to major attractions like Lincoln park, Field Museum, Chinatown, etc. Staff are very courteous and professional. Excellent breakfast buffet.

The Hotel was very clean and the rooms were updated. The location is great very walkable and close to public transportation. The staff were not very friendly or helpful. Our biggest complaint would be the host at the breakfast buffet. We sat down for the included buffet breakfast which in itself is very hard to navigate. It’s extremely busy and chaotic. The host scolded me and spoke so rudely to me for leaving with a piece of toast and a piece of fruit. I didn’t really eat at the buffet because I have a medical condition I asked an employee if I could take the little bowl I made with me. He said no problem. I assumed he was a manager by the way he was dressed and how accommodating he was. However the next morning I was so embarrassed by the host. He scolded me again for leaving the day before with food, he just could not let it go m . He said I needed to read the sign pointed to a sign.

My stay at the Hotel Riu Plaza in downtown Chicago was absolutely incredible from start to finish! The location is perfect — right in the heart of the city, close to everything, yet quiet enough for a relaxing getaway. The highlight of my stay was the breakfast buffet. It was hands down one of the best I’ve ever had at any hotel! The variety was amazing — fresh fruit, made-to-order omelets, pastries, pancakes, and plenty of healthy options too. Everything was fresh, beautifully presented, and delicious. The staff working the breakfast area were so friendly and attentive, always making sure guests had what they needed and tables were spotless. Speaking of spotless, I have to give huge credit to the cleaning staff. They kept the rooms and common areas immaculate. My room was always perfectly cleaned and restocked, and every area of the hotel — from the lobby to the elevators — was shining. You can tell they take real pride in their work. And the rooftop view — absolutely breathtaking! Whether it was morning or night, the skyline looked stunning from up there. It’s the perfect spot to relax, take photos, or just soak in the beauty of Chicago. I would 100% stay here again and highly recommend the Riu Plaza Chicago to anyone visiting the city. The Breakfast Buffet ( included with your stay ) was a real surprise. Reminded us of the ones when we stay at all inclusive resorts when it comes to breafast options. The food was fantastic and the staff was very attentive cleaning and seating everyone quickly. Rooms were really nice, comfortable bed, bathroom was laid out really well. Super clean hotel that we would definitely recommend & stay at again when returning to Chicago
