This is a wonderful old, elegant building equipped with all the necessary modern conveniences (except no elevators/lifts which was no problem for us). The continental breakfast was lovely. The staff were friendly and helpful. The location is perfect for getting around town. It is just one block from stop 4 on Skybus for getting to and from the airport. After that we walked everywhere. It was just 10-15 minutes or less to everything we needed including restaurants, bars, the waterfront, shopping, and several museums. We would definitely stay here again!

Great place to stay. Very close to CBD and Salamanca precinct. My only suggestion would be to perhaps inform customers to pre book parking as there are only 5 guest car spots onsite. Secure parking in the next block is $20/ night but suited for small vehicles. Beds comfy, good selection of pillows. Clean. Lovely staff.

The hotel building is 150 yrs old but I think it is very comfortable to live in. There are only 5 free parking slots. I had to pay for the parking outside. There is notice saying that pre-booking is required however I revisit their website again and cannot find any related information.

Location good. Rooms need some renovation, especially the bathroom. Bedding not very comfortable. Parking needs to be reserved beforehand. Good for people on a tight holiday schedule and just need a place to rest.

Fantastic welcome to a heritage hotel. Easy access for my wife, who is on crutches,however parking was a bit of an issue. Room was large,but a bit noisy, breakfast great, try the yoghurt.

The hotel is in a heritage listed building,walking distance to the wharf and the Salamanca Place. There is no lift so you have to carry luggage up to your room. Apart from that the hotel has the charm of old English hospitality and comfort. Breakfast is reasonable with a variety of cereals and some hot food. The host Chris impeccable in the role.

Heritage building, well maintained. Rooms have recently been updated and still have an older feel just due to the nature of building itself. Comfortable bed. Staff at reception/bar super lovely and helpful! Continental breakfast was great. Accessible location. Very limited parking but fairly good access to street parking. Would recommend.

The room was unclean. There was human hair on the headboard over the bed and very thick dust on the fan covers. There was a sign saying fan must be used when showering but the fan did not work. Probably a good thing or the dust would have sprayed everywhere! The staff were courteous. The communal rooms where nice like the façade but the room did not seem like it belonged to same property. The toilet light didn’t work, it only came on with room light.

Loved our stay. Breakfast was very welcomed. Staff were friendly. The room was comfortable and quiet. Close to the city and salamanca markets. Unfortunately our room wasn't made up and their was some food items left from previous guest otherwise everything was excellent. Would definitely stay here again.

We loved staying at this charming historic hotel. Chris at reception was welcoming and had helpful suggestions for what to see and do in Hobart and Tassie. And Matt made sure we had a lovely breakfast, he even warmed up some croissants for us. The room was very clean, bed was comfortable too. The location of the hotel was so convenient to everything in CBD Hobart. We would definitely recommend staying here!

The staff at this place were lovely and welcoming. The building is a gorgeous colonial style building with period style furniture to match. Room was beautifully warmed up on my arrival. The room was a bit faded in its glory but had lots of character and the bed was comfortable. Only thing is despite the double glazed windows, i could still hear traffic noise. If you bring earplugs, it should be fine. Location is very convenient to eateries on Collins st and only 10 -15 mins to waterfront.

If I could give this boutique hotel SIX stars, I would. The personal touch was everywhere. Holly, managing the front reception on my arrival, was amazing. She helped me sort out connections to a few things, as my phone did not working Australia due to the shut down of the 3G network. Asking questions, she was able to offer suggestions for meals and things to see and do. The in luded breakfast was a treat and perfect way to start the day. The decor is stunning in the public rooms. The guest rooms are a bit dated, and the water temperature and pressure remind me of England. But overall, the locationand the atmosphere are simply divine.

This property is a hidden gem! Everything from the location, staff, complimentary breakfast and comfort of the property exceeded my expectations. I reserved stays here pre and post trip for an organized tour when the tour meeting point hotel was non-responsive to my requests for accommodation reservations. This turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Not only was The Macquarie less expensive than the chain hotel, the staff went above and beyond to anticipate any needs I may have as a solo traveler, stored luggage for me while on tour and made wonderful recommendations for dinner. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend!

The hotel double booked us despite confirmation emails so we got a phone call a few hours before we were to arrive saying we couldn't have the 2 rooms we had booked They could only offer us 1 toom for 4 unrelated people and 1 bathroom They were very apologetic but it was a terrible shock.as we were flying in from interstate and had to search for another hotel.at the last minute and ended up paying much more for our accommodation

I thought it was odd that breakfast was Included, but you had to pay to get a good cup of coffee. Instant coffee and tea were part of the complementary breakfast, but a brewed cup of coffee was $5 I would rather not have such an elaborate continental breakfast (cold cuts annd cheese) and coffee instead.
