Stayed two separate nights, twice in 10 days at the Holiday Inn; as I arrived and after a week upcountry. Excellent shuttle from the airport (though a description of how to find it would be useful, half past the hour from the airport/on the hour to the airport). Staff were happy, polite, engaging and very helpful. My room was clean, easily acessible both via stairs and lift. Every basic amenity provided. Plentiful hot water in both bath and shower. Extra blankets in the chair was a nice touch. Room service was swift and delicious, though no price list included for drinks (minor detail!). I had breakfast included: a massive choice available, catering for all tastes. My favourite was the smiley faces on the boiled eggs! I did not use the swimming pool or any other facilities, but they all looked well managed. I would definitely stay here again. Many thanks to the utterly charming team at the IHG Johannesburg OR Tambo Airport hotel. 11/10!!

It's a convenient hotel if you want to be close to the airport and their shuttle run every 1 hour from the airport instead of every 30 mins. However, the hotel was pretty average.

One of the worst travel experiences I’ve had - and I’ve been to 120 countries. We‘d picked this hotel because we needed a reliable place to rest, close to the airport in between flights. We had to wait for 50min for the shuttle. When we got there, we were informed that they had an issue with the water pipe. Thus, we waited another 15min to be taken to the clearly inferior „sister hotel“. There was no shower curtain, the water was cold, even after leaving it running for 10min. It was loud as hell and the WiFi initially wasn’t working. No compensation or anything. We immediately canceled our second stay and booked the City Lodge directly at the airport. It was more expensive but money well spent

The A/C didn’t work and staff was not able to help. 1 hour to bring us a very dirty fan we could not use. The bathroom was also quite dirty with the shower walls and floors full of mold. Positive: the AM manager has very good customer service skills and disarmed us a bit with her approach and response.

Very disappointed with this hotel. Really poorly maintained. Sink was scratched, chipped and stained so bad I couldn’t tell if it was clean. Bathroom small and grungy. Overall room really worn down. Sheets were clean but about the lowest quality you can get. They were staining or painting somewhere and the entire floor smelled of a strong varnishing smell. Restaurant was edible but poor. Was really disappointed given the brand and other good reviews. I never leave bad reviews but thought others should know what to expect. Certainly not what I would expect from this brand having stayed at others around the world. Would not recommend.

Staff service at breakfast and check in was amazing. The breakfast selection was also outstanding. We unfortunately had a few problems with the room. The room was not as clean as expected (there was a lot of mould in the corner of the room on the roof and there was hair on the beds). On our last day there was no water and I believe there were no water works/disruptions reported that day? The hotel is in a very convenient location for the airport and for shopping but it could be sign posted better on the main road as we found it difficult to find at first.

Staff was very friendly and attentive. The gym has sufficient equipment for a good workout. The rooms are clean and quiet. The place looks like it has had a makeover but there are imperfections here and there (e.g. poor grouting, sealant in bathroom). There's a good choice at the buffet breakfast, albeit more attenton to replenishing items which have been consumed by other guests more speedily would be a small improvement.

A little further from the airport than we expected but the shuttle was excellent- on time and easy to find. Could do with some external markings on the van identifying it as belonging to Holiday Inn. Room small but clean and quiet. Enjoyed the pool and gym. We had three people staying in our room but given only two towels, two tea mugs etc.

I cannot believe the aircon did not work for the entire two nights I stayed. First I was given the wrong room and the new room aircon doesn't work and I am told they are being fixed. In the end I am not bother to change because I have unloaded my luggage.

The Aircon in the room way noisy when switched off. The roof of the shower is craked amd has condensate leaking into the shower making noise when the aircon is used for longer periods. Access Card kept on needing to be activated, 3 times in a 5 day stay.

Close to the airport with a free shuttle bus from the terminal. Room really nice with good view of incoming aircraft. Quite with no sound of traffic or overhead aircraft during the night. Will consider staying again if in area

Unfortunately the worst experience !! Air condition did not work at all, they did not do anything , food very bad, rooms to small , shower did not work properly … I do not recommended and I cancelled an extra night I had . Please do not go to that hotel

The hotel is already showing signs of deterioration, and although they are trying to paint the walls, it needs renovation (the hall smelled strongly of paint). The TV was very old and not a smart TV, so there was no option to connect my cell phone.

Water for the bath tab was discolored. Gate gaurd - Would not let me leave as I did not have an exit pin - I do not have a local number hence the fact I could not recieve the pin - he then continued to argue with me were all he had to do was just scan the license plate and my driver's license again so I could leave this being that I just encountered him 20 minutes earlier to check in.

From we arrived the front desk reception evening staff 23rd july made us fell welcome. The gentlemen who worked with Monalisa upon our arived and the other gentlemen that worked with here during Saturday shift were outstanding. In fact the entire reception staff were great. Lets not forget the ladies at the dinning area including the lady who assist me with getting a local mtn food card without her assistance were dead in the water phone wise. The housekeeping shorter house keeping lady with plaits in her hair that worked our floor room #355 went beyound her responsibilty to ensure our room was in order. Mr Elias who assist us with getting around was outstanding. The shuttle driving who worked the evening shift upon our arrival at the airport on 23rd july 2025 and departure on the afternoon of 30th july was great, he did not leave in fact he came looking for us when we were late returning from the airport foriegn exchange. The entire staff at the resort made our 8000 mile trip there memoriable. We have stayed at many hotels around the world and without a doubt this was our best. Thanks everyone from Mr and Mrs. Knowles. Even the local Mcdonalds down the street were great.

The lady at check-in acted put out to check us in and answer our few questions. The room was nice and clean and comfortable, and the staff person behind the counter this morning greeted us with a smile and was so friendly. Unlike the person last night. It was a nice hotel.

There was no running water in the entire hotel. We were told there was a water outage in the entire neighborhood. You would expect that a hotel such as Holiday Inn would have a reserve tank especially since water outages are not a novelty in Johannesburg. We were told the hotel was providing complementary drinking water in our rooms and would also provide water for baths. In a family room for 4, there were two 330ml water bottles. Reception wasnt picking up calls from rooms. Overall, not what I expected from the hotel. I hope this was a one off and that they would normally handle all of this better.

I arrived tired after ling trip to find my travel company hadn't submitted my reservation and they were fully booked. The staff went way out of their way to make sure i had a room. Hotel was lovely, efficient shuttle service to airport, food was great too. But the staff were so nice, even though the mixup wasn't their fault.

From the time we were picked up in the van at the airport, the customer service was absolutely off the charts! We had first stayed in a different chain/hotel so our expectations were low based on that experience. Let’s just say from having cold water and wi-fi in the van- all the way to the breakfast buffet bringing a hot latte- nothing could have been done better. South Africa is not particularly safe (according to the residents) but they were even willing to walk with us to the bank around the corner to take out money from the ATM! Phenomenal! We will stay again if ever our travels take us to SA!

Brilliant property with amazing staff. Just the inability to go shopping that brings it down despite the shopping center being down the road. The neighborhood safety issues are undoubtedly beyond the control of the hotel, which is understandable.

Honestly it was disappointing. - It was actually quote far from the airport. - the concierge guy didn't seem to know what was going on. - the room smelt very strongly of paint, but too loud to open the windows. - the room service guy didn't know what was included in the meals. - the food was not very good. It was like school meals. - they forgot the wake-up call.
