Checking in was slow…. And room service took more than an hour when they said 30 mins. Shuttle bus to airport was delayed and was very crowded. There was only one bus. Thankfully we made it for our flight.

OK for one night. Dated hotel but being refurbished. Very strong smell of paint on my floor due to these works. Prepare to pay for parking £30 per 24 hours. Staff not overly friendly. Very hard to get taxi also.

The hotel was clean comfortable and quiet. Staff were polite and helpful breakfast was lovely,and the free bus to the airport was great saved on taxi fares door to door service. I would definitely use this hotel again.

Read the small print before booking. They charge £30 p/night to park your car when you are a guest. It reads on hotels.com that this is chargeable if leaving your car when away on holiday. I think this is a disgrace when you are a paying guest for a single night and will never book a Clayton again.

The included shuttle from the terminals and Airport Railway station is a real bonus. The welcome is always positive and the room are juat right for an overnight stay. The bar is well stocked and the food offerings are good and reasonably priced.

I chose this hotel because it had really good reviews but the experience was very disappointing. One of the lifts was out of service all weekend causing long queues in the lobby but we weren’t advised in advance or on arrival. Car park charges were outrageous, room service arrived cold and unappealing. Black mold around the bath, empty soap dispenser in shower. Booked a room for three adults and got towels for two. I expected much better for the price

Excellent breakfast (both in choice and staff). Very smelly bedroom though. Smelt like stale cigarette smoke in the bedroom, the bed throws had such an awful smell we put them in the bath overnight. The toilet also smelt of urine.

Great location, service was friendly. Public areas in bar/resteraunt areas were full of glasses/plates. Bedroom was not very clean, crumbs on the overthrow on bed, some hair on the bed, one of the towels we had was not clean. No hand sanitiser in lift station. As a hotel where travellers come from across the world expected the cleanliness to be of a much higher standard.

Big queue to check in,,,, got to pods didn’t work!!!!! Had to wait to see someone who said it was working, but he sorted out key. Room was a good size with a decent shower BUT skirting boards thick with dust, also dust from ceiling falling on to our bed which wasn’t pleasant. Shuttle service excellent both drivers brilliant. Good location.

Staff were courteous especially the breakfast dining room staff. Unfortunately the bathroom was very tired with the basin enamel badly chipped and mould in the grout on the lower tiles around the bath. The bathroom would definitely benefit from some TLC.

Chose Clayton due to reputation. Found Dorito crumbs in one of the Children’s beds. Coffee cups hadn’t been washed. Visible coffee stains on them. Double bed mattress had a huge stain at the edge. Most likely a spilled drink or we wouldn’t have slept on it.

I was very disappointed with the size of the room so I went to check with the staff that it was an executive room we had been given. The receptionist said it was an executive room and I told him it was very underwhelming. I also told him that there were two wet cloths that had been left on the wardrobe that gave the room a musty smell. He just shrugged his shoulders. I was later showering when I noticed a towel folded on the towel rack that had a stain on it. The stain looked like faeces and it made me feel sick. We chose this hotel to spend the night before our honeymoon in and we are so disappointed that the special time we had planned was ruined by an unclean room. I did not go back to reception to complain as I had wasted enough of what should have been a special night for us and I didn’t want to be left as frustrated as I was the last time I spoke to the staff. I have photographs of the towel and of the damp cloths that were left in the room.

Food was good in the restaurant and free airport shuttle. Decent breakfast. My room had no Aircon . Was very hot. Was promised a fan by front desk but never arrived. Unbelievable that not all rooms have aircon.Gym closes at 10pm.

Woeful stay at Clayton Manchester. Check in delayed by 30mins due to lack of staff and system issues with the automatic check in. Room was poor with damage to lots of areas but specifically a botched repair to the ceiling. TV didn’t work and waited 20mins for them to arrive. To be fair it was just an aerial that was pulled out and I fixed it myself. Room was above the kitchen area. A hot evening / night necessitated an open window. Not ideal, with cooking smells lingering all night. I virtually never write reviews but this was a comedy of errors all round, with no real expertise to resolve issues.

Room 129 fab on the surface plenty of room and comfy bed. Unfortunately the usb ports were not working by the bed closest to the bathroom and found popcorn under 1 of the single beds by accident as the beds are on wheels. Also the sky wasnt working in the 2nd room. . Would recommend stopping at this hotel i think we just had bad luck this time.

Room was ok, no fridge or AC and to get some air in to cool the room the AC units outside were noisy. There was a fan in the room but that just blew warm air around and is too noisy to sleep with left on. Overall i would describe the room as basic however what i booked was deluxe which is far from what i got and if it was a deluxe im glad I didn’t book basic then.

hotel was clean.room was absolutely boiling.the airconditioning was locked so you couldnt use it.no fridge when they gave you free water which was warm.only 2 big towels when there was 4 of us sharing the room.the food was good though.

Maggie on reception is an asset to the team so friendly and smiling face. The only thing I would suggest is that guests are advised they need to tap room card to get lift to work. We had a bit of fun initially. Shuttle service excellent thank you

The hotel was advertised as having 24 hour shuttles to the airport and hence the reason we booked. I called to check this was available and they confirmed this was the case. When I checked in the shuttle time we needed was fully booked - we had to book a shuttle almost 2 hours earlier and spend nearly 5 hours in the airport or 1 hour later and risk missing our flight. When I looked up a taxi it was £50 each way. When I tried to raise the matter with management we had no joy. We risked the later shuttle and people were turning up without booking. This wasn't an issue as the drivers were the most useful staff at the hotel and simply returned to pick up the others. Why they couldn't do this at the time we needed I don't know. In addition we were not asked if we wanted to book dinner on check in. As such we showed up at the restaurant to be tod there was a 2 hour wait or we could sit in the bar. We sat in the bar but were then told we had to order on the app as waiter service was no available in the bar. The app was missing half of the items on the menu (as confirmed by the waitress how eventually agreed to take our order). She too was helpful and an exception to the rest of the staff.

Very confusing and impersonal check-in procedure during a busy time. All info already provided had to be entered again on the electronic check-in system. Room number and options as car check-in, as well as airport bus transfer for an early departure was not initially provided by staff, but had to be asked for separately. Did not enjoy this experience at all :(

Another great stay at this hotel. staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are lovely The shuttle bus is a brilliant service. The only negative is the check in was very slow again. Lots of people arriving and only one member of staff on the desk.

The entrance to the hotel was hard to find as it wasn't signed posted at the airport and it took 10 mins to check in at 2,30 am abit unnecessary I think , apart from that room and food were good and hotel was spotless

Online check in was easy and our room was ready when we got here. We walked from the train station rather than wait for a shuttle bus, the route is not suitable for pedestrians with large suitcases. We chose this hotel because of its proximity to the train station and airport. Staff were friendly on reception. Room was spotless and well equipped. We stayed in 118. We ate in the restaurant and the food was great quality at a reasonable price. The service was a little slow for 15.30 and barely anyone in there. But again the staff were really nice. As with most airport hotels there are people coming and going at all hours but when you’ve got an early flight one would like a little bit of sleep at least, we were woken about every half an hour by people banging their doors and talking loudly in the corridors. I’m writing this at midnight. Roll on 03.00 when we can repay the favour. Overall it’s a nice hotel and probably would stay here again.

We always stay here but avoid the evening dining and bar. Food is not good. Breakfast is worth the money and nice. Shuttle service to and from the airport is efficient and friendly.

Hotel was fine for what we needed room good bed comfortable. If you eating out get a uber to a local pub or restaurant as the food was overpriced and poor quality. Paid £18 for a pukka pia and mash and it was just edible .just warmed up convenience food save you money get an uber out .

Hotel is handy for the airport. Rooms could do with a bit of a face lift but they are clean and comfortable. Dinner in the restaurant was average. Staff were excellent, friendly and helpful.

Hotel has a shuttle bus to the airport which is really handy. Room was spacious, comfortable and had everything I needed. 2 things annoyed me: you can't go to the bar and order a beer, it's table service only which is fine until you're sat with an empty glass and can't get anyone's attention. Secondly, the food in the restaurant is embarrassingly overpriced and well below average! It's on par with a bad motorway service station. I've stayed at a number of Clayton Hotels and the poor quality of the food seems to be a common issue.

Good clean airport hotel with free shuttle service to all terminals. Bathroom in room was ready for some refurbishment. Our meal in the Grill restaurant was excellent and provided a pleasant experience prior to our early morning flight

The airport shuttle was easy, the room had a weird smell and was very off-putting. The food was frozen fried food not good value for money. Staff were friendly. Check in and out was very easy

The Clayton is well located near to the terminal . The rooms are comfortable and the staff friendly. The food was expensive for what was served and the standard and quality could be improved.

When I arrived at a very busy time, my room was not ready. Front Desk staff found me another room, however the room had two beds and I only wanted one. Elena from Guest Services called me to explain a computer glitch in the number of beds in the room, and then brought me a new key and helped me to move my luggage to an upgraded room. I settled in for the evening, but an electrical adapter for US appliances blew the fuses for the entire room! It was Elena, again, who calmly assured me that an electrician would soon arrive to turn the electrical back on and provide me with a stronger electrical adapter. I think the Front Desk staff person who recognized my displeasure and Elena who solved several problems for me are great examples of what aware customer service can do to turn a guest’s experience around.

We stayed one night after our holiday following a late arrival into Manchester airport. We waited around 20 mins for the courtesy bus, which was clean and quick. check-in was easy, the room was clean and easy to find, and the beds were very comfortable.We didn't use any other facilities bar breakfast, which was also very good. A tiny possible improvement: the same number of bath towels as room occupants (we had 2 bath towels and 2 hand towels for a 4-person family room), I would use this hotel again and I would recommend it. We are a family with 15 and 17 year old children.

The hotel is in a perfect location and offers a shuttle bus service from right outside the door to terminals. Car parking was a dream and staff were so helpful, especially when unloading the car at the hotel before we went to the drop and go car parking. A great start to the holiday.
