Needed an inexpensive option in the CDMX for a week and this was a great choice! Immaculate. Charming. Safe. Tiny little room, almost monastic, but with lovely details like a big shuttered window, crown molding and a Tiffany-style bedside lamp. The common areas include a nice rooftop and a small fountain terrace below, great kitchen, big laundry room. The staff are super kind and helpful, and the Buenavista district, though not quite in the heart of things, is a safe and charming local neighborhood with the metro just 2 blocks away which swiftly takes you anywhere you need to go. I loved it here, and still managed all the Mexico City bells and whistles with ease.

I arrived at 3AM and had a smooth check-in. Lovely and kind facilities staff, beautiful and clean accommodations. The hot water wasn't quite working in my suite but wasn't a major issue.

Es una propiedad de estilo y ambiente porfiriano muy agradable, en una zona tranquila y segura, cerca de todos los servicios como transporte y restaurantes. El hotel es muy limpio. Mi habitación era muy pequeña pero suficiente para descansar; la cama un poco dura. No tienen estacionamiento. La persona que me atendió fue muy atenta y resolvió todas mis dudas.

The front desk attendant Miguel is one of the nicest people we've met in the city. He offers many helpful transportation tips for those who are visiting, and his guided tour of the Casa Chopo property was great. The building has such a rich history and the furnishings are absolutely beautifully maintained from the olden 1860s to early 1900s era, when the streets in this neighborhood were cobble stone streets, before railroad cars were the big new thing! I was amazed the unique beauty of this home. It was also really nice to know you can come and go as you please, and check in at any hour. We were worried there would be nobody available to help us check in because our flight arrived after 9:30pm, but we were pleasantly surprised to have such nice service in person at a late hour. It is a quaint bed, so keep in mind there won't be a king size mattress, but for the affordable price it felt like a luxury to be staying in a well-maintained home from this era, including a kitchen open for guest use, beautiful sitting room, sunny rooftop, garden, gorgeous dining room, and laundry room. Small tip for those who stay during mosquito season, keep the fan on inside your room and point it toward you if you want to avoid getting bites. Mosquitos can't fly in the path of a windy draft. The neighborhood is also full of neat surprises -- a handful of bars & restaurants where locals hang out, a geology museum practically on the same block, and Plaza Buenavista mall & train station.

Pros: The property itself is really nice, and the staff are very friendly, but not as helpful as we feel they could have been. Cons: Rooms 1 & 2 are actually part of, and attached to the reception area, which is “open” 24 hours. There is no insulation in the paper thin walls, so if you are in rooms 1 & 2, you hear every front door bell, phone call, conversation, computer ding, cellphone notification, all day and all night long. We were there 4 nights and didn’t manage a good nights sleep once, and were unfortunately happy to leave just so we could get some good rest elsewhere. We did express our discomfort after the first night there, but were told there was nothing they could do and they could not reimburse us for the prepaid remaining 3 days so we could move on. So, if you are at all a light sleeper, we would strongly recommend you request NOT rooms 1 or 2 during the booking process. Rooms are not cleaned and beds are not made up at all during your stay. Very little hot water available for showers, it takes a long time to reach the room and then only lasts a minute or so. Overall, a nice property with some pluses, but way too many minuses for us to want to return, or recommend it to anyone else.

This was a beautifully maintained property with lovely employees who were very helpful. I loved the outdoor area to have my coffee and the ability to use the kitchen to cook meals. While my room was small I really only ever used it to sleep as México city had so much to see! The shower remained hot which was a real plus. The area was great as it was far enough away from the 24 hour noise of this huge bustling city. II will return!

The staff was great but there was a mix up with the reservation. We ( my friend and I )booked 2 single rooms but when we got there at2 am there only had one single and a double .We had the both sleep in a double for one night .After that we had a room with 2 single beds.Also the hot water takes a good 15=20 to get hot so be patient .

La propiedad de anuncia en Expedia cómo hotel cuando realmente rentan los espacios cómo long term leases y sólo una habitación la rentan para estancias cortas. El problema con eso es que cuando uno alquila dicha habitación uno lo hace pensando que es un hotel con SERVICIO de hotel (pues así se anuncian) y realmente no proveen servicio / atención de hotel. A mí llegada no querían ayudarme con mi equipaje y después de insistir lo hicieron de mala gana, no limpian la habitación de una noche a otra, el internet es malo, la habitación recibe muchos ruido de la calle y la habitación tiene casi nada de privacidad pues esta literalmente pegada al lobby y se escuchan los ruidos del lobby así como la gente en el lobby pueden escuchar todo lo que ocurre dentro de la habitación...

La casa es hermosa, los detallas de la renovación arquitectónica son muy buenos. Las habitaciones funcionales y cómodas. Si te gusta hospedarte en lugares hermosos, este edificio de estilo neoclásico es lo tuyo. Pisos, herrería, carpintería, iluminación, wow hermoso.

Hospedarme en esta casona porfiriana ha sido una de las mejores experiencias que he tenido en CDMX. El lugar tiene un encanto único, con muebles elegantes, detalles muy cuidados y una limpieza impecable. Todo está pensado para que te sientas cómodo y bien recibido. Eso sí, vale la pena mencionar que las habitaciones pequeñas realmente son pequeñas, por lo que en mi próxima visita sin duda reservaré la suite. La relación calidad-precio es excelente: lo que se recibe por el costo supera ampliamente las expectativas. Sin duda, un lugar al que regresaré.
Hospedarme en esta casona porfiriana ha sido una de las mejores experiencias que he tenido en CDMX. El lugar tiene un encanto único, con muebles elegantes, detalles muy cuidados y una limpieza impecable. Todo está pensado para que te sientas cómodo y bien recibido. Eso sí, vale la pena mencionar que las habitaciones pequeñas realmente son pequeñas, por lo que en mi próxima visita sin duda reservaré la suite. La relación calidad-precio es excelente: lo que se recibe por el costo supera ampliamente las expectativas. Sin duda, un lugar al que regresaré.

Pros: The property itself is really nice, and the staff are very friendly, but not as helpful as we feel they could have been. Cons: Rooms 1 & 2 are actually part of, and attached to the reception area, which is “open” 24 hours. There is no insulation in the paper thin walls, so if you are in rooms 1 & 2, you hear every front door bell, phone call, conversation, computer ding, cellphone notification, all day and all night long. We were there 4 nights and didn’t manage a good nights sleep once, and were unfortunately happy to leave just so we could get some good rest elsewhere. We did express our discomfort after the first night there, but were told there was nothing they could do and they could not reimburse us for the prepaid remaining 3 days so we could move on. So, if you are at all a light sleeper, we would strongly recommend you request NOT rooms 1 or 2 during the booking process. Rooms are not cleaned and beds are not made up at all during your stay. Very little hot water available for showers, it takes a long time to reach the room and then only lasts a minute or so. Overall, a nice property with some pluses, but way too many minuses for us to want to return, or recommend it to anyone else.

This was a beautifully maintained property with lovely employees who were very helpful. I loved the outdoor area to have my coffee and the ability to use the kitchen to cook meals. While my room was small I really only ever used it to sleep as México city had so much to see! The shower remained hot which was a real plus. The area was great as it was far enough away from the 24 hour noise of this huge bustling city. II will return!

La propiedad de anuncia en Expedia cómo hotel cuando realmente rentan los espacios cómo long term leases y sólo una habitación la rentan para estancias cortas. El problema con eso es que cuando uno alquila dicha habitación uno lo hace pensando que es un hotel con SERVICIO de hotel (pues así se anuncian) y realmente no proveen servicio / atención de hotel. The front desk attendant Miguel is one of the nicest people we've met in the city. He offers many helpful transportation tips for those who are visiting, and his guided tour of the Casa Chopo property was great. The building has such a rich history and the furnishings are absolutely beautifully maintained from the olden 1860s to early 1900s era, when the streets in this neighborhood were cobble stone streets, before railroad cars were the big new thing! I was amazed the unique beauty of this home. It was also really nice to know you can come and go as you please, and check in at any hour. We were worried there would be nobody available to help us check in because our flight arrived after 9:30pm, but we were pleasantly surprised to have such nice service in person at a late hour. It is a quaint bed, so keep in mind there won't be a king size mattress, but for the affordable price it felt like a luxury to be staying in a well-maintained home from this era, including a kitchen open for guest use, beautiful sitting room, sunny rooftop, garden, gorgeous dining room, and laundry room. Small tip for those who stay during mosquito season, keep the fan on inside your room and point it toward you if you want to avoid getting bites. Mosquitos can't fly in the path of a windy draft. The neighborhood is also full of neat surprises -- a handful of bars & restaurants where locals hang out, a geology museum practically on the same block, and Plaza Buenavista mall & train station.

The staff was great but there was a mix up with the reservation. We ( my friend and I )booked 2 single rooms but when we got there at2 am there only had one single and a double .We had the both sleep in a double for one night .After that we had a room with 2 single beds.Also the hot water takes a good 15=20 to get hot so be patient .

La habitacion individual contaba con un frigobar que no use pero es bastante util, tenia un escritorio, closet, buro, caja fuerte, secadora, en el baño habia champu y jabon liquido corporal y te dejan en el lavamanos un pequeño jabon, todo estaba muy limpio. La almohada estaba un poco aguada para mi gusto, el colchon estaba ok. En general la relacion calidad precio estuvo bien, al bañarme si tuve agua caliente (aunque tuve que esperar un poco a que calentara, es la de la izquierda) pero lo mejor es su ubicacion, aunque no es una zona muy bonita, es muy accesible a pie a muchas partes de cdmx, la persona que esta acargo es muy amable y esta dispuesto a ayudar. Estoy agradecida porque llegue en la madrugada y aun asi me atendieron amablemente y me pasaron a mi habitacion. Yo creo que si volveria.
La habitacion individual contaba con un frigobar que no use pero es bastante util, tenia un escritorio, closet, buro, caja fuerte, secadora, en el baño habia champu y jabon liquido corporal y te dejan en el lavamanos un pequeño jabon, todo estaba muy limpio. La almohada estaba un poco aguada para mi gusto, el colchon estaba ok. En general la relacion calidad precio estuvo bien, al bañarme si tuve agua caliente (aunque tuve que esperar un poco a que calentara, es la de la izquierda) pero lo mejor es su ubicacion, aunque no es una zona muy bonita, es muy accesible a pie a muchas partes de cdmx, la persona que esta acargo es muy amable y esta dispuesto a ayudar. Estoy agradecida porque llegue en la madrugada y aun asi me atendieron amablemente y me pasaron a mi habitacion. Yo creo que si volveria.

Excelente lugar, una restauración muy interesante para rescatar la casa del siglo XIX. Buen buena experiencia, y más aún con la decoración de la soy. Contento, por supuesto que regresaré. Y muy cálida conversación con las personas encargadas.

We had an amazing stay at Casa Chopo! Miguel, one of the staff members, made our experience truly unforgettable. He was super knowledgeable about the property and the surrounding area, and he was so kind to give us a tour. One of the housekeeping staff was also wonderful we just wish we had caught her name so we could thank her personally. I would highly recommend Casa Chopo to anyone visiting CDMX. Our only minor issue was that our room was next to the office, so we could hear the phone and doorbell ringing throughout the night. Aside from that, everything was fantastic. The room was beautiful, and the staff truly made our stay special. We would absolutely stay here again!
