Sugar Bay Barbados - All Inclusive

Food area small however staff was very friendly! Beach was nice. Using the swim sports was good. I got to use the paddleboat, life jacket and snorkel. The food near the beach is always good. Umi was also good. Food in the buffet were a hit or miss. Food was okay at best nothing amazing. Staff was very friendly. This is a more quiet and intimate resort. No activities planned during the day unlike other all inclusive resorts. not much entertainment. If you want a nice relaxing week at the beach this is the resort for it.

Staff was very accommodating and pleasant, food was AMAZING, spa was booked out but the courtesy 15 minutes was AMAZING, room was spacious, beds too small but it worked for a few nights.

We really enjoyed our stay at Sugar Bay. The staff were so kind and efficient, we were very pleased. Usually am nervous with all-inclusive food options but we were very happy with the variety and taste every day! More of a quiet resort, less nightlife and entertainment but perfect for resting and relaxing. Beach looks exactly like the photos, well-kept and clean, clear water. Some seaweed and rocks like any other beach. So many lounge chairs and hammocks, no need to wake up early to reserve chairs. Bar on the beach was perfect, yummy drinks and friendly staff. Did not use the pool/ swim-up bar (on the smaller side) plus we are beach people! Sunsets are a dream! Weather in October was great despite it falling in the hurricane season months. Excursions are available to book at the front desk for extra charge, variety of options. Overall, very happy with Sugar Bay for a restful and relaxing vacation, we will be back!

My partner and I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. For an all-inclusive hotel the food was very good! The steak house was very good. My only two complaints would be that I believe they should have a deeper pool they only had a 4 feet pool

The pool was too small for the number of guests and there were not enough seats around the pool. More cats—less pigeons.

We had a fabulous trip to Sugar Bay, staying for 8 nights. The weather was lovely with a breeze and some showers to help cool. The staff and service were fantastic, so friendly and attentive in every part of the hotel. I enjoyed the paddle boards and kayaks and especially using the swim up bar. The food choices were varied and always cooked and presented well. We loved the Sizzles restaurant that we visited twice during our stay. We both said we would happily return 😎

We had a great stay at Sugar Bay. We stayed for 7 nights. The staff is super friendly and do their outmost for you to enjoy your vacation. It is a rather small facility located at the beachfront.

Property was very clean. They had a lot of various size plants on property to help cool the area ! Had a lot of flowering trees and bushes! Staff was helpful courteous, friendly , remember your name ! They lined excellent taxi drivers! Help line up excursions! They had live entertainment every night. The food was excellent in buffet and the sizzle steakhouse! The beach area nice and clean ! Location was good for walking to the boardwalk, pebble beach and Carlyle bay! My wife and I would Highly recommended this hotel. Location facilities were excellent but the prized gem is the Staff !

Great service by everyone! Was given a 3rd floor room on check in without elevator access. Immediately told front desk couldn’t do the stairs. Found a first floor room right away for us! Everyone was accommodating. Our third trip to Barbados. Will book Sugar Bay again!

We loved this hotel. The facilities are great and the location is right on the beach. It’s has a real boutique feel with fewer guests that all interact well and are kind and friendly. The food was excellent too and the entertainment. But what really makes this place stand out are the people who work there. Too many too mention but Akeem at the bar and Kimberley in room service stand out. They are such a warm and inviting bunch of people. You can get a real Bajan feel from this hotel.

By then, many guests—including myself—chose to visit local beaches off-site, which was disappointing considering beach access was a key part of choosing this resort. This resort has potential, but management needs to step up its game in maintenance, cleanliness, communication, and entertainment Offerings. The live band from 7:30-10pm wasn’t enough.

Clean rooms, good food, however staff's attitude was really poor, very unfriendly

We had an Oceanfront room, however the sea view was mostly blocked by vegetation and smaller than anticipated. Our room was not cleaned properly, even upon arrival. It was still dirty from the last guests. There was a lot of sand on the floor, mirror in the main room was dirty, balcony was unswept, bathroom glasses were filthy, the water glasses by the fridge still had previous guests lip marks on the glass rim. None of these problems were corrected for 4 days until I got fed up and called for the manager to come to our room and see for herself the condition. Everything was corrected. The buffet food was just okay. For breakfast you could have fresh eggs cooked, which was good. Dinner was okay but occasionally there was a really nice roast. Dessert was always good. There were 2 specialty restaurants, one Japanese and one Steakhouse. The Japanese restaurant was really good the first time we went. Obviously a different chef the second time because it wasn't as good and I had the same dish both times so the comparison was easy. The steakhouse was really good both times except the first time my baked potato was served cold. Bar service was always slow but the drinks were good. The beach and the water were amazing. Overall, for the price, the room and the food were not worth it. We would not stay here again.

I had an amazing experience at Sugar Bay Barbados! The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming — they truly made me feel at home from the moment I arrived. The entire property was spotless and beautifully maintained, with great attention to cleanliness everywhere. There was always something fun to do, from relaxing by the pool to joining the different activities organized throughout the day. The location is also perfect — just steps from a beautiful beach and only a short drive from the airport, which made everything super convenient. Overall, a relaxing and enjoyable stay. I’d definitely recommend Sugar Bay to anyone visiting Barbados!

The property was nice and staff was quite friendly and helpful. What we didn’t love was that there was a defective door on our hall that slammed extremely loudly every time it closed which often times woke us up at 7am or in the middle of the night. It was very unpleasant and frequent. Additionally, the sheets were very hard-I would compare them to a brown paper bag. The bed itself was comfortable but the bedding was not. Finally, cleanliness does not seem to be a top priority in the rooms or in the bar areas where we saw lots of mold and rust (rust likely to be expected due to the humidity and beach environment). It didn’t ruin our trip but all these things combined made it so we would probably try to find another option if we came back.

Sugar Bay is a wonderful place, and its small, boutique-style resort certainly makes one feel right at home. The staff is truly amazing and goes above and beyond for their guests. The rooms are very clean, and the food was delightful. We are hoping to book another stay there next year.

Liked - the staff were very welcoming, kind and helpful; the beach and ocean area were great, easy access; all common areas were very clean, safe and cheery; enjoyed the burger shack and Sizzle Dislikes - the buffet choices at Tides were limited; the air conditioning in the room was not great; the rooms decor needs to be updated.

Amenities, food options and staff was excellent. Room was small. Bathroom was very difficult to move so small and no hot water. Constant construction going on in our area of the resort by staff so disrupted our quiet stay. Love the staff and food options. Comfort of room very disappointing.

Staff and amenities was excellent, made quite a few friends with the Staff. The reception people were very cordial help our every needs. The only problems we had was there was no place to put our toiletries in the shower so we had to put them on the floor, plus, the shower did not have full glass all the way around it so the water would splash on the outer floor and on our foot towel, we had to change it every day. Overall, I would give it a 4.5 rating and we would definitely go back when we come back to Barbados.

The staff that worked in the dining areas and bars were excellent. The gentleman that worked on the beach to provide umbrellas, chairs were also great. Improvement is needed at the front desk in regards to consistency in communicating information to guests. I traveled with friends and we checked in at the same time however they were charged fees ( that were held on the credit card) but I wasn’t told that. The rooms can be improved as well. My room was stuffy throughout my stay even though maintenance came in to check it upon my request. The showers could use doors to keep the water from getting on the bathroom floor and our bathroom didn’t have a vent so it got hot in there after the shower. The resort should provide light food like pizza, fries, etc because after dinner ends at 9:30pm there’s no where else on the resort that you can get something lite to eat. Microwaves could be nice addition to the rooms.

The staff was friendly but their ability to provide a comfortable room temperature was impossible. For thee days of my holiday the ac in my room did not work and I was told again and again that it was working. The maintenance person came to my room, acknowledged it was hot then went to the front desk and told them it was working. A fan was sent up on the second night. This happened for 3 days!!!! Don’t gaslight me! What was suppose to be a relaxing holiday for my daughter turned out to be a disaster! The only thing that saved our experience was the beach

Family run property with a cozy feel. It is certainly not a four or five diamond resort property. It is a cute family resort with a laid back feel. Food was very good and the kitchen led by chef Paul was extremely accommodating. Premium rum was mount gay, other international alcohol brands were very limited. Included wine was Spanish and was drinkable. The staff is the shining star here. Pedro the resort manager is very kind. Kay, Akiel, Helen and Andre were all very helpful and kind.

The staff were very friendly but sometimes MIA. I always love a pool bar and on more than one occasion the bartender would be gone for over an hour at a time. It’s not a huge deal but I’ve never had that happen at any other all inclusive. The food was a miss at the buffet for us but other guests seemed to love it, the specialty restaurants were wonderful, as well as Blush the cafe on property. Blush also has cute decor perfect for some photo ops. The room did have a little bit of a musty smell and the air conditioner didn’t really work that well. The view from our room was beautiful. The beach was wonderful as well. It is odd that the staff come out around 3:30-4 and start putting all the chairs away. They never ask you to leave or move but i did get a feeling of being in the way and that it was time to wrap up our beach day. I think more information about the hotel and activities would be helpful. Maybe a map of the resort in the room? We planned on taking the shuttle that they had listed in the lobby to go to the Oistins fish fry but were never told we needed to be added to a list and by the time we found out the shuttle was full. Would I stay here again? Probably not. Did I enjoy my time while I was there? Yes. It is a hotel on a beautiful beach and I had a wonderful time. I just think some of the reviews are a little too positive for what this hotel really offers.

We just got back yesterday…we had a wonderful time. We got a marvelous upgrade and got an ocean view room on the first floor, so we were able to walk out of our room and onto the beach. While the resort was one of the smaller we’ve been to, it was very nice. Food was very good - 4 restaurants , one which was buffet (open for breakfast, lunch and dinner) a second that offered lunch from 12-4 (we only went there once as my wife didn’t like the options), an Asian and a steakhouse. Both were amazing. As part of our all inclusive we could only go to the Asian and the steakhouse one time. The beach was very nice. A few rocks, but water was beautiful turquoise color, and crystal clear. The best part of the resort were the staff. The people of Barbados are the friendliest you will ever meet. Didn’t meet one local that didn’t have a smile on their face. Would deft recommend this place as we certainly would go back again.

This hotel exceeded my expectations. The customer service was excellent - all staff extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful. The hotel is in a good location with a bus stop just outside so easy to get around and get to other nearby beaches. The buffet breakfasts, lunches and dinners were outstanding, there was lots to choose from. We had live singers each evening and there was steel pan occasionally. We received passes for Sizzle Steakhouse at the hotel where family were able to join us for dinner and pay for their meal. My only disappointments were the pool which was only 2 ft & 3 ft deep so not for swimming and they did not have an instructor for 2 of the aerobics classes we had been informed of.

The staff were pleasant and was always willing to provide assistance. Check in was quick and the room are comfortable and had a good decor. The main dinning area was clean and food options were very good. The broadwalk was a short walk away to other shops an local restaurants. We certainly enjoyed our stay and would be back.

Sugar Bay was a beautiful spot. Beach was beautiful! It is part of a coral reef, so swim shoes a must. Different dinner options every night, a nice mix of local and international cuisine! Amazing staff, beautiful and so helpful and friendly! It is very close to Bridgetown, and local transportation very easy to take. Also not far from airport, 20 mins, which make Sugar Bay a perfect location. They accommodated our stay with a family room with three single beds, which suited us perfectly. Very clean and well organized overall! We throughly enjoyed our stay!

10 minute walk to Carlisle Bay beach. Calm protected water with food drink and beach amenities.

Food was excellent at the buffet, unfortunately we were unable to enjoy the specialty restaurants due to no one told us at checkin you had to make a reservations and they fill up a week in advance. Also depending on how long you stay determines how many times you can eat at a speciality restaurant before you have to pay out of pocket to eat there. The all inclusive does not include daily eating at a speciality restaurant only the buffet. The hotel is dated but clean and the staff is great. We couldn't find anyone to book an excursion, the concierge desk was always empty. The beach was beautiful except for a exteme seaweed problem which is understandable and out of their control. Pool is small and seating fills up fast. Beach seating is easy and convenient, the beach staff will set up table, chairs and umbrella upon request. We never had any issues getting seating at the beach. Overall the staff makes this hotel enjoyable. If you are looking for a Hyatt or Marriott experience this hotel will not fit your needs.

Ideas: Its an all-inclusive hotel. My stayed there before included all the restaurants free now you have to pay which should not be.

The property was nice but there were a few things I did not enjoy. I travelled with a group of 6 (3 couples), one thing we noticed right away was that there was no music playing anywhere on the property. There also wasn't an entertainment crew or a nightly entertainment schedule. They did however have a singer with a small band perform at 7:30 on the weekend. The main thing that we did not enjoy was the limited dining. There was no food available at the resort after 9pm. There were also hours throughout the day when food was not available (10-12, 4-6). Lastly fyi there is no alcohol served after 1am. The staff were helpful with letting us know things off the resort that we could do in the evenings and arranged taxi transportation for us. Perfect for relaxation but Id choose a different resort if partying is or turning up is in your vacation plans

My stay here was very relaxing. The staff was most friendly. A wide variety of foods. The alcohol was a little weak in the drinks, and I had chicken and broccoli at the Sushi restaurant which was very sweet. I also had the apple pie at the steak house which was way too sweet. Apart from that my stay was wonderful. Beautiful beachfront.

The staff is excellent! Helen who worked the beach bar was the only negative person. There is not allot of variety in food choices but the food was excellent! Drinks both with and without alcohol were great. Jevon, Justin, Damien, Sophia and Andrea to name a few were fantastic! There is zero nightlife or activities during the day which was somewhat of a let down . If you’re seeking a relaxing vacation then this is the place to do it at.
