It is not as fancy as in the pictures. Faded glory is the feel, 70s decor. The lift is comedy ancient. Don’t book bother to book an upgraded double, It’s not a classification of room they recognise. The area is a bit sketchy late at night. There is open drug use on the steps to the lobby by the locals. I literally saw a guy using a crack pipe in front of the door. They stepped aside when asked. I never had any issues but I’m a 188cm guy and didn’t really feel safe. During the day it was fine. Can’t comment on breakfast as I did t have it. It looked nice enough. The staff were all polite but couldn’t help my issues with the room type so I had to take a small double not a king.

Super friendly staff… They were great with helping us receive packages before we even arrived, and Anything you need. The building could use a little upkeep, in the neighborhood is by the train station in while that’s super convenient to walk across the street. The neighborhood is at one of the more nicer ones. But acceptable.

The hotel itself matched my expectations well. The personnel in reception were nice and helpful. The room was overall maintained and cleaned, apart from one dark hair on the shower floor (dark on white - easy to spot). The location so near the train station is handy for sure, but at the same time it is good to note that the neighborhood is not calm or quiet. I would not call it rough, but I felt uncomfortable when I arrived at the hotel late in the evening, especially as I had little hard time to notice the hotel at first - it looked different in dark and rainy night, and my angle when arriving to the hotel was not the same than it is with the pictures of the hotel's facade.

The hotel is in easy reach of the railway station, but be warned. We arrived after midnight (unplanned due to accident on railway) to be greeted by 4 policemen who advised us to get into the hotel quickly and stay there as the area was dangerous (mugging, violent attacks etc). Apparently, the other side of the railway is better. No the hotel's fault, but important for people wanting to stay there. Additionally, although we had booked for 2 people (and had the receipt) the hotel claimed they only received bookings for 1 person from Expedia. Extra payment ensued. Still not sure whose mistake this was, but not something to sort out at the end of a gruelling day.

The hotel is close to the central train station, and there is a large number of disadvantaged people in the area. One evening there was a drug dependent person collapsed on the entrance stairs with two community police officers attending to him. There is a nearly constant police presence in the square outside the hotel. The neighborhood was very unsettling in the evening. Make sure you look at Google street before booking. In particular look down Steindamm street.
