La Quinta Inn by Wyndham Norfolk Virginia Beach

This place was way better then i initially expected. I loved how cool the a.c was and how fresh and clean the bed sheets were and towles. The bed was so comfy i was surprised and the pillows were all nice and not hard or different crazy lumpy shapes. Ive stayed at Marriotts and Hiltons and i honestly got that same luxury vibe. Breakfast was free and had a great variety. They had real shampoo conditioner and body wash along with a beauty bar for your face. All Dove products! If there was 2 things i wld change about my stay it wld be the pool...im really ocd about germs and the pool i feel cld of been a lil less foggy and more clear and the 2nd thing id wanna change is harder water pressure in the shower because i have long thick hair. The water pressure may of just been lower in some rooms then others but i definitely am gonna book here again in the future! The sraff was super friendly and didn't charge extra for late check out!

The workers were very polite and kind. Front desk was helpful. The only thing that I was a little bit upset about was the pool wasn't ready. Overall I will definitely be back.

Access from the road was difficult if you were on the wrong side. Room was clean.

It seemed okay until we got on the elevator to go to the 3rd floor. The elevator got to the 2nd floor and kept jerking up and down like it kept getting stuck and refused to go past the 3rd floor. Pressing the button for the 3rd floor just continued to jerk the elevator. It took a while for the doors to open on the 2nd floor. I did not want my kids on there so we got off on the 2nd floor when the doors were finally able to open. We took the stairs to the 3rd floor, which smelled like urine. The TV was not working. It seemed that the other people who were also there were going through problems with three room as people kept coming back to the front desk about something. We decided to check out as I did not want my kids in that elevator again and went to a different hotel.

This La Quinta was in the process of being renovated---something I believe should be mentioned in the general description that places like Hotels.com provide. The hallways on the two levels that I saw were torn up, as was the elevator. This would have been tolerable if the room I was given hadn't been so sub-par. The bathroom was so small, the shower curtain pull-back was the bathroom door knob. The floor was some kind of vinyl material and wasn't even close to being level. It wasn't very clean, either. The furniture was banged up, the bed was hard, and television service wasn't available. Needless to say, I didn't enjoy my pre-paid no-refund overnight stay and won't be coming back.

It's like a bad renovation show on hgtv. No electrical outlets by the bed. Outlet in the room was loose on the wall. The bathtub water ran continuously. The staff were nice enough. The breakfast was average, but they didn't restock when things ran out. A homeless camp was set up in the parking lot by the pool. The parking lot is well lit. I booked because it was close to family I was visiting and this trip was done as economical as possible.

Everything was mostly good. The staff at La Quinta is mostly excellent; friendly, helpful, willing to go the extra mile for the customers. One of the things that I didn’t like was quite minor. There was no small bar of soap at the sink. It would’ve been more convenient to have a cheap little bar of soap then to you have to get in the shower and use the liquid soap every time I wanted to wash my hands. However, the second issue is pretty major. The wood floors look nice but they are filthy. The first night I was there, I spilled some water on the floor. I immediately used a towel to clean it up and the towel was black from the dirt on the floor. As I was unpacking, after I returned home, I pulled my house shoes out of my carry-on bag, in the bottom of my shoes were black. This is a serious problem. I really like the La Quinta on Newtown Road. I’ve been staying there once per quarter for almost 6 years. Please do something about those floors.

Worst hotel I stayed in. Room smelt bad, bathroom had mold.

Room was dirty. There were stains everywhere. There was pubic hair everywhere in the bathroom. Bathtub was disgusting, looked like it hasn’t been cleaned in months. Floors were sticky and dusty. Worst hotel we have ever stayed at. Don’t recommend staying at this hotel. Breakfast sucks.

The staff was friendly and very accommodating. However, my room had a bad smell of Marijuana smoke that would not go away. There was someone else's dirty towel in the bathroom that the cleaners must have missed. The bed spread had a weird stain in it at the foot of the bed. There was mold growing inside the coffee maker as well. I had no choice of switching rooms or moving to another hotel so my daughter and I just dealt with it for a few days. The staff was very friendly and asked if we wanted to move but there were no downstairs rooms left and i need a 1st floor.

The room itself was dirty, the bathroom door doesn't shut unless you force it against the toilet to shut and the door itself to the room needs to be slammed to shut. If you don't slam it shut, it doesn't latch and you can just push it open again. You can tell they only clean what is noticeable at a glance. If you close the bathroom door the floor is sticky and dirty. There is paint all over the floors, which were buckled up in places and i actually cut my foot on part of it, there was hair stuck to the headboard, and the walls you could literally see where someone spilled something and it dripped down. I picked this hotel because the picutres looked great and it showed a good amount of seating for breakfast. It does not look like the pictures, at all. The tv just flickered constantly so you couldn't watch anything, and the lamp shades were disgusting and moldy. I asked for a handicap accessible room as my mom has cancer and walks with a cane. I even said its okay if it isnt on the first floor, just please i need to be close to the elevator. I was no where near the elevator, and thank God that woman is a saint and we were here for my Papa's services. Hands down will not come back to this hotel on the future since I come down every 3 months. I'd rather pay the extra 20 dollars it was going to cost to stay at the hotel down the road.

The staff at La Quinta is excellent! Every single person who works there is friendly, helpful, and professional. I realize that you’re still working on the improvements but the actual accommodations are average. The big problem that I have is the floor in my room is still filthy. I spent most of the time that I was in town with my family. The only time that I was actually in the room was in the morning getting ready for my day and in the evenings after 7 or 8 PM. Consequently, I didn’t bother with requesting that my room be cleaned. If you want proof of how dirty the floors were, it was on the bottoms of mine brand new house shoes. The washcloth that I used just to get the surface dirt off of my new shoes was completely black when I finished cleaning them. There is still a layer of filth on my shoes that will take some powerful cleaner to remove. If the floors have been properly vacuumed prior to my arrival, my shoes wouldn’t have been black after one night. This is somewhat of a conundrum for me because I really like the people who work there!

The staff was friendly, but it was nothing like advertised. It was very dirty, smelled like cigarettes and weed. Nothing really seemed completed. The walls, rooms…. It was just kind of gross. My kid cried, because she didn’t want to go back and felt unsafe. Not really what I spent money on. I typically love La Quinta properties when we travel through.

After I booked the room, I received an email about the construction. My room was dirty underneath both beds, with trash and dust. The bathtub floor had a big bubble. This really needs to be fixed before someone gets hurt. The room was old and rusty and needed to be updated. The staff was friendly and professional.

The room needed serious repair/improvements. There was water coming up from the flooring- and I sm sure the management was aware of that and the electrical issues. A phone charger blew a breaker and it was the only accessible outlet in the room.outside the bathroom! The thing we LOVED was this hotel did NOT give us garbage tv. Subscription TV is NO TV. NO news, Nothing but garbage. Thank them for real networks, real sports, real news. I would never review them badly because we needed some of those real broadcasts- not recorded days, months or years before. I don’t know people who do but I would bet subzcription tv elected the moron we have for president.

Looked nothing like the pictures. I booked a king bed with a sofa bed trundle and got a room with two small double beds that were terrible mattresses. The vinyl plank flooring in the room was peeling up and terrible installed. The furniture was chipped and old. The sheets had some debris on them. This was one of the worst hotel rooms I’ve ever had to sleep in. Glad it was just one night because we were passing through the area. I would definitely spend and additional $100 to stay in a nicer hotel; this had section 8 food stamp vibes. People were smoking marijuana and drinking in the parking lot, the place sucked. I had kids with me and they didn’t feel safe at all. The elevator was in need of major repair. The entire experience was bad. Less than 1 star.

This place is very outdated. The elevator looked very bad. My room didn’t have soap, the AC is super loud. The bed was ok, the price was ok too. Good breakfast options. Free parking.

Using the toilet was an exercise in contortionism. toilet to door had 1/2 inch of a gap to open while you plied yourself against the tub. Some of the floor sections seemed to not be attached and seemed to separated from the base as you walked on it. Was almost entertained by the neighbors kids having races down the hall until 10:30 PM - they were prepping for a Pop Warner football game that weekend!

I know this site is going through a renovation but these are things that have nothing to do with that. There were no open outlet near the bed. I had to unplug the clock to plug stuff in. The only open plug was on the other side of the room by the TV. I went to use the microwave and found it unplugged because the light and the fridge was plugged in. That is when i noticed that not only the microwave wasn’t plugged in but also the coffee maker. There were no USB connections in the room either. There was one small trash can in the room and not in the bath. In the dining area the hot water dispenser for tea was just about inoperable. It needs fixed. They kept the butter in a fridge set at 32 degrees which froze it, making it usually unusable as it wouldn’t melt.

The room was missing a second comforter. The cooling wall unit was unable to cool the room. Very hot and stuffy all the time. The beds are very uncomfortable. I had a difficult time sleeping on the beds. Food is good. Coffee is good. Staff at the front desk is friendly. They need to service the equipment and get new beds. Otherwise, an okay place to stay.

We reserved the room last minute due to issues with another hotel. Staff was helpful and professional. House keeping were nice and room was super clean! We enjoyed our stay.

The staff was very rude except the general manager. For one the tv didn’t work you couldn’t hear anything no matter what you did and when we called to complain about it we was told we can be given another remote which wasn’t the issue , we then asked front desk for towels and was told there aren’t any thank god for the maintenance guy we caught in the hallway who helped us , we then went to take showers just for the water to come out brown called from desk about it and was told they just got new pipes . Last a man knocked on our door to ask us if our room door was closing mind you we just arrived he then proceeded to come in and use wood to bang on the side of the door so that it would close . I wouldn’t stay here again or recommend anyone else to . The only person who was kind to us was the general manager who I spoke to . Other employees were very rude .

I had to visit the front desk 3 times for my key to be reset. Very inconvenient.

EVERYONE that worked here was nice and smiley BUT THE HOTEL WAS GROSS! Thank goodness I didn’t reserve via 3rd-party because I was able to check out after the first night! ITS NOT A DEAL! This one hotel has left me with a bad taste in my mouth about the whole chain of La Quintas. It looked like it was half renovated with newer linens and curtains and some new chairs in lobby but the front desk was peeling! Believe it or not I’m not picky… just trust me!

Will never stay at a La Quinta again. Made my reservation for a King sized bed. I arrived and had a twin. My estimated arrival time was 830 but due to traffic I arrived at 1030. Was told they "overbooked". 50+ years of booking hotels and I've never been given a room that I had not booked!. Not a good look La Quinta!. I'll be sure to let everyone I know know about their little scam!

Taye at the front desk (day shift) was super friendly, extremely accommodating, and helpful in every manner possible! All employee's should emulate her!! Mattress was soft and should be replaced in Room 112, and the refrigerator froze everything inside, regardless of the temperature setting.

Friendly and courteous staff Our room had a few things that were not fixed before and during our stay. I left this message at the front desk when checking out 1. A Faucet in the bathtub did not stop dripping during our stay 2. The TV was not fixed as requested 3. The screen of the room telephone was not fixed prior to our arrival

The fridge leaked all over the floor. The lamps between the beds didnt work and the volume on the remote didn't work. It was a convenient location.

Nice place, near the beach, quiet and peaceful. Would stay again. Only recommend that you find breakfast elsewhere if you are trying to avoid sugar.

The property was perfectly located near many restaurants, downtown, etc. This was perfect for us, who needed to be stay close to downtown Norfolk. Very clean and friendly people.

Lobby was being renovated. Was told breakfast in the morning would be a full breakfast w/ eggs & bacon/sausage. Bfast was no egss or bacon/sausage, just continental w/ make yourself pancakes. Ughh. Room had ripped flooring, the shower only worked 1/2 flow, rest down tub spout, old shower panels, yellowing caulk in tub corner, gross shower curtain, inadequate blankets. Hotel is run down, elevator had railings pulled off the wall w/ holes in the wall. Will not stay here again.

This is definitely a 2 star motel. It is a very old structure that was renovated. That said, for the lower than average price it was more than satisfactory. Clean sheets, extra large TV, refrigerator, and microwave in each room. The continental breakfast was rather complete with the option to make your own waffles. The waffles were good after learning how to work the cooker. I would definitely stay again.

Hotel is currently being renovated. No information about this on their website or Expedia. Construction debris and dirt everywhere. We understand it’s difficult to keep everything clean during a remodel but a little extra effort to keep up would have been appreciated. Towels were very musty. Asked for replacements and they were just as bad. No guest facilities for washing, as we tried to wash them our selves with laundry detergent we went out and bought. Water pressure was on and off every 20 minutes for the three days we were there. Forget about breakfast if you weren’t there early. I guess it was first come first served. Didn’t replenish anything, and that included the coffee and to refill the juice machine. There wasn’t any coffee after 9:30 all three days that we were there. Spend a little more money and stay somewhere else. Get what you pay for.
