The hotel is nice. The staff at checking was not very friendly. She was not rude but just a yes and no answers, like she did not want to be there. The room was nice and comfortable with a balcony overlooking the courtyard. It is located in a perfect place. A 5 minute walk to the harbor and many restaurants, head the other direction and you are by the shopping area another 5-10 minute walk. The castle us a very short walk away. The only complaint is the parking! They have none. You have to drive to a lot around the corner you drive inside a building that is super tight. I have a Volvo V60 and I had a few inches on either side to spare on some turns you had to go forwards and backwards a few times just to make the turn. Once you park you take the elevator up to the lobby and you end up in a different hotel lobby!! You have to walk out of the hotel and walk around the block to your hotel!

This hotel was beautiful and centrally located. The staff was polite and so helpful. Everyone we met was so nice The hotel room was beautiful and nicely decorated. They gave you robes and slippers for your room and they had a wonderful lounge on floor 7. The lounge had the best views and free coffee and tea. The hotel breakfast was the Most Wonderful breakfast I have seen. The food and choices were lovely and fresh. Hands down the best breakfast and worth the price.

Litt trangt hotell og hotellrom men enkelt og finne frem med fin parkeringsmulighet. Ingen bar på selve hotellet, men det er jo en del ut i gatene så det er jo ikke noe problem. Kjempegod servise av de i resepsjonen.

Excellent stay at a modern hotel in great location near harbor and Parliament. Easy to walk to from the train, several public transportation options out the door. Pleasantly surprised by a nice light supper buffet, excellent breakfast buffet - fresh, healthy and plenty of it. The hotel is oddly situated between two buildings but you figure it out after a few trips around. Even a decent sized gym (treadmill, bike, eclipse, free weights, mats, ball) with a view of the street action. Very comfortable beds (on the smaller, European size, but enough if you're average sized) and tidy, compact room. Worth the price given all these extras, uncomplicated check in/ out, and location.

The hotel was well-located and the staff was helpful and generally excellent. We did find a rubber glove in the duvet and some stains on the bedsheet, and after talking with the front desk they moved us to another room for the night, which we appreciated. This hotel has a lot of interior rooms overlooking the atrium where breakfast is served, and those windows don't open so temperature control is difficult. The thing I disliked most is that the rooms are tiny, even by European hotel standards.

Flott hotell med god beliggenhet. Rommet var fint dekorert og rent. Men ganske lite, -og alt for varmt. Det fantes regulerbar temperaturmåler, men den kunne ikke settes under 21 grader. Thon Hotel Cecil has two pluses: the location is good and so is the breakfast. It also has some important minuses to be aware of. The hotel is really noisy, especially on Thurs, Fri, and Saturday owing to the late, late night noise from bar patrons, as well as trams. During our stay, the hotel had important items that were not working, including one elevator and the thermostat in our room. For four nights the only temperature control was to open the window, which of course made the noise a lot worse. Based on thermostat icons, it appeared to be locked in the off position. I told the front desk that our thermostat wasn't working. They were unable to fix it and told me that there was no one who could fix it during our 4 night stay. It is a dated hotel so it is not surprising that stuff is broken. What is surprising is that they couldn't it nor did they offer a different room nor even the slightest apology.

I was catching an early train next morning asked for a brown bag breakfast when I checked in at 130 pm, was told it had to be requested before noon. I asked how that is possible when check in is at 3 pm and I was actually there early, I just got shrugged shoulders as reply. When asked what kind of room I would like when checking in I said queen bed would be great but quiet as I am leaving 545 in the morning. I was given a room in the direct vicinity of a live band pub and was kept awake until 3 am in the morning. When I called front desk at midnight I was told they are full house and it will not stop until 3 am Room was clean. Only good comment I have. I have contacted management requesting a refund as I received none of the goods/services i had paid for.

Hotellet har en lille reception med slidte og snavsede møbler. Til gengæld er spisesalen stor og flot. Den ene elevator var i stykker, så det tog alt for lang tid at komme op og ned til værelset, som kunne have været mere rent. Indtjekningen var ikke god. Medarbejderen var nedladende og der var en masse gæster der kunne få deres værelse før indtjek kl. 15 men ikke jeg. Selvom jeg sad og ventede gjorde medarbejderen heller ikke et forsøg på at se om der var et værelse klar.

We walked around Oslo for a while, and when we returned, the minor issues were fixed. Couldn't be happier with the communication and assistance. The breakfast in the morning was phenomenal also. Absolutely 10/10 and if we get the chance to come back to Oslo again, would definitely stay here.

Thon Hotel Cecil has two pluses: the location is good and so is the breakfast. It also has some important minuses to be aware of. The hotel is really noisy, especially on Thurs, Fri, and Saturday owing to the late, late night noise from bar patrons, as well as trams. During our stay, the hotel had important items that were not working, including one elevator and the thermostat in our room. For four nights the only temperature control was to open the window, which of course made the noise a lot worse. Based on thermostat icons, it appeared to be locked in the off position. I told the front desk that our thermostat wasn't working. They were unable to fix it and told me that there was no one who could fix it during our 4 night stay. It is a dated hotel so it is not surprising that stuff is broken. What is surprising is that they couldn't it nor did they offer a different room nor even the slightest apology.

Great location, walking distance to all the major site, such as palace, museums, and central station. The room is very clean. Breakfast is superb, lots of choices. It even includes light dinner.
