I was surprised at how nice the basic room was as well as the bar dinner food. A bit weird was the umbrella rental cart-first time seeing this. Another unusual but excellent new item for me (as a 30 year hotelier)was an in-room tag offering a $58 kroner discount in their food outlets for honoring the green program-not needing housekeeping for one day at a time. I used this twice; then asked for housekeeping the 3rd night.

This hotel is in an ideal location, right between the train station and the gorgeous opera house. It’s a large hotel but it’s well run, with a good breakfast service and fast elevators, and friendly cleaning staff. It was a great choice for us.

Zentral direkt am Hauptbahnhof und dank gut isolierender Fenster trotzdem ruhig. Wir hatten ein Zimmer mit Blick auf den Bahnhofsvorplatz. Das Frühstück ließ keine Wünsche offen und rangiert in unserer persönlichen Wohlfühlliste unter den ersten 5 aller bisher besuchten Hotels. Einziger Wermutstropfen war die völlig überteuerte Minibar. 0,5 Liter Wein kosten 360 NOK

It was lovely but the makeup mirror is mounted in the bathroom at a height for people taller than 6'1" Reception is great, short walk to Flytoget, room great. Breakfast outstanding. Hotel Bartender no interested in serving us. Weird.

Our room looked well below expectations, very small, bathroom was old and damaged in several places and had unknown red Stains on tiles. Our check in experience was upsetting, staff was not helpful (borderline rude) and we ended up with unexpected extra charges which made the price unacceptably high. Breakfast was good. Rating three stars as the location was perfect but would not book again.

Very close to the train station, which is essential because we were each carrying a heavy luggage, and a lot of the streets in Oslo are cobblestone. We requested a quiet room, did not hear any noise. Breakfast was better than most we have encountered in Norway

Room was spacious and immaculate. Don’t think I’ve ever been in a hotel bathroom so clean … The hotel is in an Ideal location for transport to wider areas and for train but easily walkable to the harbour for ferries and Aker Brygge area. Staff were very friendly and helpful too . All in all a very welcoming place to stay.

Anbefales! Resepsjonisten hadde nok ikke sin beste dag på jobb,og det berømmelige Imsdal vannet alle får ved innsjekking uteble. En tidligere gjest hadde også laget seg kaffe i vannkokeren på hotellet, og det hadde nok gått housekeeping hus forbi. Ikke SÅ kult med mugg når man skal lage seg morgenkaffe. Ellers var det veldig rent og ryddig, nydelig og fersk frokost. Til tross for.... anbefaler jeg Thon hotel Opera. Stille og rolig sted å overnatte på en lørdag.

At best, this is a 3 star property. Aimed mostly at tour groups. The room was small and dated. Carpet was dirty and worn out. The room reminds me of a motel. The location is great and close to many attractions. But there are also many other hotels in the same area. Staff wasn’t very friendly especially housekeeping. Angry they couldn’t clean room at very early part of day. Room on 9th floor. Room very stuffy and hot (no A/C). They use halogen lighting so bulbs give off horrible heat. I had to open window for air but street noise was horrible.

God frokost. Rom med utsikt over byen (736). Fint rom. Litt kronglete crome-cast et par ganger. Varmt på rommet. Norske hotell får aldri toppscore da air-con aldri funker godt nok. Vi var her i starten av november. 4 grader ute på natten. Godt over 20 på hotellrommet, selv med vinduet oppe.

Excellent location! Stunning hotel! We had a superior room which was ample space. The only negative was the noise in a morning! I know the cleaning staff have a job to do but we found them so noisy as early as 7:30am hoovering and banging against the walls with hoovers. This woke us up each morning.

Ask for Akmed at the front desk. He was very friendly, and helpful. The hotel is right next door to Oslo’s Sentral Train Station. And, it’s very walkable to the Opera, and Munch Museum. It’s a pricy hotel, but with a very wonderful location, and is very clean, and modern. And, remember, on price, you’re in downtown Oslo!

初日に部屋のある棟を間違えた時、ベットメーキングの女性が仕事の手を止めて正しい部屋まで案内してくれた。朝食担当スタッフがとても親切に気さくに案内をしてくれた。スタッフ一人一人が真摯に仕事に向き合っている証拠だと思う。また泊まりたいと思ったホテルは幾つかあるが、このホテルはその中でも最も良いと感じられられるホテルであった。駅にも名所にも近いロケーションも素敵だがスタッフの意識の高さには感銘を受けた。

Opphold fra fredag 23 januar til lørdag 24 januar. Selve oppholdet, med innsjekk og rom var veldig bra men frokosten på lørdags morgen var en stor skuffelse, vi kom til frokosten kl 07.20 cirka, de stekte eggene var kalde, baconet og bønnene var å kalde.

Hotel itself looks nice, service was good and excellent breakfast selection. However, breakfast hall was very crowded and the main reason for just 3 stars is the lack of temperature control in the rooms. Room was very hot, there is an apparent air con control on the wall but the temperature doesn’t change and I think that the temperature is centrally controlled, far too hot for sleeping. Based on the temperature of the room, I would not stay again.

Thon Opera was perfectly located- steps from Oslo Central so a 2 minute walk from the Flytoget. We went to the ballet at the opera house one night and that was just a three or four minute walk. The breakfast was amazing in the huge number of choices, all very good. The room was large, very clean, and well lit and there were lots of usb ports.
