Very nice hotel (if you have an outward facing room with a balcony). Right next to trams, bus from airport and station and walking distance to just about everything you will want to visit (including a nice park nearby). [ that said, note as of July 2025 Gothenburg is one huge building site - think Crossrail/HS2 - with lots of restricted access, tram lines disrupted, the waterfront a mess, the Palm House closed and scaffolded for the foreseeable future. ] Reception staff are good and friendly (they should have pointed out the free maps though). The front bar patio area is very nice to use, service is excellent and food, albeit expensive like all Gothenburg, is good. Don't approve of it being out of bounds to residents when the once a month (fee payable) concert is on though, although the curiously the inside bar was deserted whilst that was on, so a bit swings and roundabouts. Breakfast is excellent - good quality, broad mix of pretty much everything you might want, readily replenished with adequate seating throughout the 3 hours it is available. Minuses (not many....). - There should be free water in an expensive hotel. There is however free tea and coffee in reception and comfy seats to drink it. - no air conditioning - you can open tthe big windows but the trams run from about 0430 to midnightish and screech a bit. Actually you don't notice after a while. It was drizzly so not a problem for us. - wifi is consistently good but not enough sockets or USB points for recharging

Väldigt fint hotell, trevligt bemötande i receptionen och jättebra frukostbuffé. Vi bodde i rum 133 med balkong ut mot Drottningtorget. Fantastiskt rum men det lät en del från spårvagnarna. Det enda vi inte var nöjda med var att vi ville gå ner till baren och ta en drink strax efter 23, en kväll före helgdag. Vi fick höra av receptionen att baren redan hade stängt på grund av få besökare, vilket kändes tråkigt. Annars är vi mycket nöjda med vistelsen och rekommenderar starkt!

It’s amazing to be back and stay at this beautiful and well preserved old hotel. The rooms are spacious and the service is fantastic. The breakfast is one of the best I have experienced, and I love having it in the orangery.

This is a historical hotel with a ton of character. The staff is very friendly. The rooms spacious, and a decent restaurant and bar in the lobby. It’s right next to train station. Word of caution. It’s loud and there is no air conditioning. The double windows seal out the sound at night effectively, but if you don’t like warm rooms best to stay away during the warm months.

In fairness, I will start with the few positives I can say about the Eggers. It is well located if proximity to the main train station is important, and it was for me. Public spaces are what one expects of a decaying Grande Dame from the turn of the century. The room they put me in should be reserved for suicides. It had a single window facing a small lightwell with many other room windows facing into it, providing no privacy if the window and curtains were open. It was painted in very dark colors and poorly lit. When I checked in there was a burned out bulb, not that it mattered. Once I saw what some of the other rooms were like I realized I had really gotten the shaft. Staff were friendly and behaved as if they were going to be helpful, but ultimately, frequently were not. There was a heated towel bar in my shower and when I mentioned to reception that I needed to learn how to use it, they said they would take care of it. That was the end of that. The bed was very uncomfortable. It may have been a double, or their version of it, but there were two thin, uncomfortable pads on top of what appeared to be a mattress. Neither night there provided me with more than about 3 hours of uninterrupted sleep. The bathroom was poorly maintained. The shaving mirror was falling off the wall. There was mildew in the grout in the shower. Towels were threadbare. If I were staying one day longer I would have moved to a different hotel.

Hotellet känns gammalt på fel sätt. Skavanker lite överallt. Trasiga lister och dörrar. Badrummet luktade gammal fukt och rummet var väldigt dammigt. Tjocka fina sidengardiner som ovantill var täckt med damm. Även tallriken som även den hade lampskärmar i siden var täcka i damm. Inga krokar i hallen för att hänga upp ytterkläder. Fick lägga på en stol. Frukosten var helt ok och trevlig! Hotellet är absolut inte värt varken sitt pris eller sina 4 stjärnor.

Rummet var mysig med fina uttrycksfulla färger från sekelskiftets still. Det var super rent och fint. Jag sov gott och kände mig trygg. Personalen var fantastisk, väldigt mycket tillmötesgående och med proffsig förhållningssätt.

Har bott här många gånger. Väldigt bra hotell. Personalen är trevlig och mötesgående. Frukosten är fantastisk och det är alltid mycket personal som plockar undan och fyller på det som tar slut. Vissa badrum i rummen behöver renoveras. Men i övrigt toppen!

Fint hotell med bra beliggenhet, Minuset er at hotellet mangler aircondition, og rommet ble frytelig varmt nå på sommeren. Det var en vifte man kunne bruke på rommet, men det var dårlig effekt. Meget god mat i resturanten.

Slitet rum med konstig avsats innanför dörren. Minsta badrummet jag sett och då ett Superior rum. Smal själv men fick knappt plats i duschen och handfatet var nästa större än duschen. Kändes inte som ett bättre hotell i Göteborg. Känsla mer som ett stadshotell på liten bruksort. Väljer ej detta igen.

I encountered some issues during check-in with my service dog; the staff attempted to charge me a fee, even though he is a service animal, country to what their website states. Additionally, there is no charging stations near the bed, which is significantly inconvenient for me since due to heath reasons I need to connect my CPAP and heart monitor

Beautiful historic hotel with a balcony. 2 minute walk from central station and 1 minute walk to tram transportation. So convenient to get around and staff was very nice! Only downside is no AC but we were aware before booking.

Superfint hotell med otroligt sköna sängar. Maten på hotell restaurangen var god och man fick mycket mat för pengarna. Hotellet ligger väldigt centralt med gångavstånd till nordstan, centralstationen, Göteborgs Operan och mycket mer. Jag kan starkt rekommendera andra att boka en vistelse här och få en fin upplevelse.

Ett fantastiskt hotell proppfullt av karaktär! Helt underbart för en som gillar färg, fjädrar och "dekadens"! God lunch och middag. Frukosten är bra! Dock minus för att restaurangen är så mörk, bpde under frukost och middag. Knappt så man hittar maten på tallriken. En av oss i sällskapet är synskadad och hade stora problem med att röra sig inne i restaurangen. Ni kan bara vrida på ljuset några snäpp så blir det bra.

Allt var toppen, förutom toaletten, som hade en helt lös toasitts som ej gick att sitta på. Rummet var jättefint och frukosten var fantastisk!

What a beautiful hotel. Superb location - couple of minutes walk from the central train station. Historic and charming - tasstfully refurbished and maintained. Staff and Sevice same and welcoming. Going the extra mile to make sure we’re comfortable. A wide choice of well made breakfast items. Will go back again !!
