Great location in the centre of Lille. Rooms were lovely. Breakfast was expensive so we ate out - there are many lovely cafes nearby. Parking was a problem. We didn’t realise until we arrived that the hotel has a car park which, as it turned out, was fully booked. We were directed to the car park on the Grand Place. We managed to get a space there on Thursday when we arrived but on Saturday we discovered the whole area was pedestrianised, possibly due to the Christmas market. We spent 3 hours in traffic (not an exaggeration) looking for a car park within walking distance of the hotel with an available space. I feel the hotel staff should have made us aware that streets would be closed off.

Fijn en klein hotel op ideale locatie. Geen eigen parkeergelegenheid maar wel meerdere parkeergarages in de buurt. Daarnaast ook op loopafstand van het station en diverse bezienswaardigheden. Personeel is zakelijk en beleefd, spreken naast Frans ook prima Engels. Hotelkamer was klein maar netjes en schoon. Leuke bar, “the view” aanwezig om ‘s avonds een cocktail te drinken met uitzicht over de stad. Enige minpuntje was de douche in het bad, de douchekop staat helemaal tegen de muur aan en kan niet verplaatst worden, daarnaast ook erg lage waterdruk. Voor een verblijf van twee nachten is dat wel te doen, maar niet voor een langer verblijf.

We had a great view of the town. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Coffee machine and other glasses were very clean as some hotels offer not very nice conditions. We had bathtub which was large and comfortable. We will go back again.

Nous avons passé 3 jours au Carlton. Lors du ménage le matin il y a de nombreux oublis ( coton tige pas remplacé , bouteille d’eau vide laissée et pas remplacée , sachet de thé pas réapprovisionné). Nous n’avons pas eu le verre de bien venu comme annoncé . Le petit déjeune ne laisse qu’une possibilité très chère pour une personne qui déjeune un simple thé avec une viennoiserie . Le matin la salle du petit déjeune à côté d’une pièce en travaux très désagréable au niveau du bruit . Perceuse , ponceuse en déjeunant . Globalement l’hôtel est propre et le personnel très sympathique et l’hôtel est très central

Beautiful hotel and lovely room. Great staff. The hotel is right in the center of town so access is easy to everywhere, but I recommend walking because traffic is a little crazy. The room itself was very clean and well decorated, but in the toilet room (which was separate from the sink/shower room) there is a slight sewer odor. However, I stayed in other places in Lille, and I have found the same thing to be true in those places as well. So I think it is a common problem for the city of Lille, and not necessarily something that the hotel has control of. With the door to the toilet room closed, there was no smell in the rest of the room.

Room was warm so I opened the window (lovely) but it was above the grease vent for the restaurant below. My room smelled like a chip shop. The hotel itself was beautiful. Very central. Lovely neighborhood and superb staff.

The hotel is quite nice and the location is top notch. Yet, there were quite a few disappointing things about our stay. First and foremost, we were looking forward to keeping our workout routine with the fitness room inside the hotel. In fact, you can’t do really much in that “fitness room”. There is one real machine inside for targeting the pectoral area. Outside of that, there is basically nothing. Not a single free weight. The sauna is in the same room with no real cover. So - if you decide to use the sauna, there could be people working out in front of the sauna’s glass door. The second thing we were looking forward to was the panorama bar. Unfortunately, the chairs and our table were pretty dirty and the waiter didn’t even bother cleaning it. Plus, the drinks weren’t that good. Lastly, we needed to open the water faucet in our room completely in order for it to work. Otherwise it would just shut down immediately. We needed a lot of force to close the bathroom door. And sorry for that information but still: The toilet is too small for a normally grown man. Your “best friend” is touching the inner verge of the toilet which is quite disgusting….

Great location, the bar was great and perfect for a night cap. Lots of restaurants nearby. Near the metro. Rooms are large and with great view. Rooms are well furnished despite old. Would go back to this hotel.

Séjour en couple pour 2 nuits. Hôtel merveilleusement bien situé au centre de la ville. On peut tout faire à pied. Petit déjeuner excellent. Chambre très confortable mais la déco est un peu sombre ainsi que l'hôtel en général Le gros point négatif , c'est la wifi qui fonctionne très mal.

We couldn’t access WiFi in our room, and when we asked for additional assistance we were initially given a different WiFi password, but this still didn’t help. We were offered a different room, but it wasn’t as nice. We stayed in our original room the first night as we didn’t want to miss out on seeing Lille by looking at different rooms, but the next morning we asked for a room with working wifi. The man on the front desk wasn’t friendly, and was clearly annoyed that we were causing him additional work! Eventually we agreed on a room that had working WiFi (another room we saw also wouldn’t load WiFi). The new room was ok, but the shower was old and not very powerful, and the lack of a handle on the inside of the shower door meant you couldn’t close it without slamming it - all a bit odd! The small room fridges are also on the floor, which looks strange. Just overall the hotel lacks friendly front desk staff, and it’s tired and very dark and isn’t in great decorative condition. At best I’d say it should be a 3-star hotel, sadly not 4-star. Central location is good for sight-seeing. The garage attendant was a lot more friendly and helpful than the hotel staff!

Location of hotel is good and central. Disappointments are having to pay / hold 200Euros for our one night stay when room is fully paid for prior via Expedia. Staff with air of smugness stating its company policy ! This most certainly not published as part of hotel details when booking. They would not budge, and forced to pay it and then await the up to 7. -14 Days for them to return my monies which they took in seconds. Having stayed in numerous 4 and 5 star properties through Expedia, this is not common practice and certainly a first having to pay 200 Euros on top of the room price, so in essence paying double, so no 4 star service to justify these costs at all. Other hotels if they have to charge a preauthorisation, normally hold card details and if necessary charge a max 50 Euros to be refunded on check out all going well. 200 Euros must cover the overpriced mini bar in the room, which was avoided profusely. This property is in need of refurbishment, bit old and tired and perhaps 4 star standard needs to be revisited. These comments were shared with the staff upon check out too. Breakfast was good. Would I stay again, probably not.

Hotel Carlton is located in the perfect location for your visit to Lille. It’s situated right in the old city with a commanding presence across from the opera house. The area felt very safe and was an easy walk to all the old town sites yet away from the noise of the many bars and restaurants in the central square. All the staff were friendly and very helpful. My room was spacious, clean and comfortable with welcoming decor and the level of details you’d expect from this class of hotel. Be sure to enjoy a drink at the panarama bar. I’ll definitely stay here again on my next trip to Lille.

L’hôtel est un hôtel bourgeois assez classique. Le minimum dans la salle de bain, gel douche et savon au mur. Une chambre à plus de 300 euros, (affluence à Lille en raison du concert de Bruce Springsteen). Aucune attention d’accueil dans la chambre si ce n’est une enveloppe de bienvenue. Un petit déjeuner pris en plus à 25 euros/personne sans possibilité d’avoir un café au lait ou cappuccino. Le jus de fruit frais est coupé avec de l’eau.

Hôtel bien situé et agréable mais il manque quelques détails pour un 4 étoiles. Le petit déjeuner est passable pour le prix, beaucoup de choses industrielles et manque de choix. La chambre est confortable, mais la douche était relativement petite ainsi que les toilettes.
