The Postmark Hotel

When you check in, the front desk is the bar, it is loud and very distracting. Two young ladies were checking us in and they were passing our information back and forth. It was the longest and most confusing check in I have ever experienced. I found our room on the bottom floor incredibly stuffy and had incredibly poor air flow. It didn't matter what we did with the thermostat that temp would not change it was awful. We ended up leaving at 5am heading home. They charge you $25 a night for parking behind the hotel under the covered roof, but if you go out in the evening good luck expecting a spot when you return. There are only like a dozen spots and the hotel admits that people not staying at the hotel park there. Lots of potential for this hotel but I would never return.

Parking is an issue. Not enough designated parking. should be more clear on the website about parking options. I struggled with the heavy perfumes being infused into the rooms and main floor check in/restaurant. The design of the hotel and rooms is beautiful and chic but not so functional. Lighting system in the room is strange and complicated to figure out. No minibar or safe. The bathroom vanity is small with minimal counter space. The hotel is spotless and staff are friendly and engaging. Gym had all the basics. Would work for most anyone. Decent hours for access.

Place was great, the rooms were a little hot and couldn’t manually change temperature, had to call front desk. Not sure why i needed to pay for parking. That should be included in your stay!

Very nice aesthetic, very clean and spacious. We really enjoyed the gym. And the bed was very comfortable! Would stay again!

The only downside is parking

I wanted to give this 5 stars, but unfortunately there was no parking. There are only a handful of spots on the property (for an extra fee), and if they are filled up before you need it, you’re stuck finding your own parking. Most lots around the area don’t allow parking between 2-6am. Other than that, it was a good experience! Breakfast was excellent as well.

The hotel was nice, however, the heating systems didn’t work very well and the assessable rooms are larger but annoying as the bathroom door doesn’t stay open. The gym wasn’t bad but the equipment tricky to use.

The room was nice. Breakfast was not included and was too expensive for what I saw, in my opinion, so I didnt opt for it. The gym was sizeable. Had everything we needed. The staff was very nice though a little disorganized at times. There was a very nice looking restaurant upstairs. I didn't eat there because it was a little pricey for me, but the menu looked nice and the customers looked pleased. It seemed like they have some sort of special brunch there on the weekends and I saw tons of people head up for that, so it must have been good. Parking was also not included. You had the choice to pay for parking to get close or you had to walk from one of the parking lots a few blocks away. That part was a bit annoying in terms of bringing luggage in and out by oneself. I would visit again.

There is very minimal parking on site and unloading your luggage on the street isn't too bad, but they only have 1 luggage trolley. If the hotel parking lot, which is provided at an additional cost, is full, you have to park across the street, and down an alley to a public parking lot. This lot is free, but you then have a 150 - 200 yard walk back to the hotel that includes walking up about 5 or 6 flights of stairs. The room was clean however, there is no regular cable TV that provides sports channels. There was no fridge in our room unless we wanted to upgrade at an additional cost. There are a few nice restaurants nearby which was good. I would not recommend this hotel and would never stay there again.

Great stay, we were surprised there was no fridge in a room. They usually come standard is other hotels we’ve been to We also found there were lots of dust by the walls. Other than that, loved the lounge area and breakfast was a great value

Our recent stay at Hotel Postmark was disappointing. We had booked for five nights but checked out two nights early due to several issues that made our stay uncomfortable. On the positive side, the staff were friendly and helpful, the restaurant offered delicious food, and the neighborhood was cozy and inviting. However, the negatives overshadowed the positives. The washroom door was incredibly noisy, waking us up whenever it was used at night, making sleep difficult. Upon check-in, we found used toilet paper in the room, which was unhygienic and left a bad impression. The pillows and mattress were very uncomfortable, and overall, the room lacked the comfort needed for a pleasant stay. Additionally, we had issues with the air conditioning and heating system. The controller didn’t work properly, and the heater failed for two nights. Although staff kindly resolved the problem, it was inconvenient. The lack of soundproofing was another major problem. We could hear constant noise from neighboring rooms and upstairs, which was particularly disruptive during a busy period. Parking was also an issue, as the hotel didn’t have enough spots. After the first night, we had to park offsite, which was inconvenient. This was our second time staying here, and while our first visit during a quieter time was decent, this stay was frustrating. We wouldn’t recommend this hotel during peak times unless major improvements are made.

Smallest room ever!! No fridge, chair or iron! No coffee maker only instant coffee. On another note, the food we had was amazing as was the service!

There is no mini-fridge or coffee maker. One chair. Noisy all the time. Doors close so quick and hard they could take a child's finger off. No soundproofing at all in walls and ceiling. No sleep. Terrible experience and always just we're sorry. Worst most costly hotel I have ever staying at and I even had to pay for parking in the hotel spots. No hotel information of services or instructions on use of the TV controller or monitor. Sleeping in my car would have been better.

Very nice hotel. Clean and modern. Only complaint would be that there’s very little soundproofing between the room and the hallways. Could hear every single door opening and every conversation people were having in the hallway. We were on the second floor. Overall, though we are very pleased with our stay here.

This is a cute boutique hotel, however, we encountered one hitch after another. The rooms on the “first floor” are kind of below ground or at least below grade. The room we got had several problems: the thermostat was set by the hotel at an uncomfortable 21 Celsius and couldn’t be turned down further, the room door wouldn’t lock when we left the room. Because of the problem with the first room, we were moved to a nearby room. In this second room, the remote did not work and the same problem with the door shutting unless you leaned and yanked on the for handle at the same time. Although front desk had said they would make an exception and turn the thermostat down to 20 Celsius, we had yo go up to the main level and remind them. I guess rooms on other levels of the hotel are cooler and more functional? Location is amazing with lots of eateries, cute small town shops and patios within a block or two. Parking is limited near the hotel but can be found a 5 minute walk away.

No fridge in the room, light switches were difficult to navigate, very little shelf space for belongings, kleenex ran out after one tissue, two milk units for two people

The only complaint would be lack of space in bathroom and poor makeup lighting

It was disappointing. Room was too cold and thermostat was locked. A portable heater was available but inadequate. Light switches were confusing and made no sense. For the price and touting a 4 star levdl, we just couldnt see it.

We have been to this hotel multiple times because it is a beautiful hotel, but at this point the feature we enjoy most is the friendly staff.

Front staff were very nice, attentive and super efficient with check-in. Room was clean and cozy and felt more comfortable than the typical chain hotels.

The breakfast isn’t complimentary but they have a wonderful menu which is in keeping with the high standards of the hotel. The management and staff of the hotel and restaurant are exceptionally friendly and accommodating.

There was an error with my room booking. The front desk fixed the issue very quickly and even compensated with a no charge room to correct the error. They went over and above in my eyes.

Postmark staff was fantastic. Property is lovely and at one end of the main strip. Lots to do in the area. Parking can be an issue. Rooftop restaurant meal was exquisite, the service was impeccable. Being hearing impaired or server made extra sure I could hear what she was says and this is the first time anyone has done that for me. It made a good experience beyond great. We will be staying here when ever we come to visit.

Staff are amazing. Shout out to Jessica! Who is outstanding at her job. I was well taken care by her at dinner and breakfast. She is a gem! Check in went smoothly and the clerk said she had been expecting me. She was helpful when I reported no hot water and the bathroom outlet malfunction. Was offered a room change but on account of the late hour, I declined. I did receive a meal voucher which I used for breakfast.

Room was nice and as expected. Renovations were great, lobby was beautiful. Had a very odd experience checking in where staff were very confused on our reservation. We’re unable to successfully check us in, it took 45 minutes start to finish, and we never received room keys. Had to be escorted to room and let In with staff master key. Fortunately we were just there 1am-11am to sleep after a wedding and didn’t need in-out access, but was very odd. Staff was friendly and apologetic but we were very tired and just wanted to be able to check in and go to bed. Also was surprised that there were no dead bolts/chains on the bedroom door.

The hotel is lovely, the staff was fantastic. At the rooftop restaurant we had an excellent meal and the service second to none. The only downside side is the parking, but the staff was there to assist with other options. We will definitely be staying at the Postmark again.

This was our 4th booking at the hotel since it opened a few months ago, so obviously we enjoy staying there. We are recognizing significant improvements in their service with each visit. The significant improvement this time was that the lobby location now offers breakfast. We also ate a meal in the roof top restaurant and the food in both locations was excellent. We have been given different rooms on each of our stays in the hotel. The suite we were in this time was the best designed and appointed. It ranked well with some of the better hotels we have stayed at internationally and throughout Canada. The hotel is surrounded by shops in the quaint old town of Newmarket and is definitely the best place to stay if you are visiting the area.

Wonderful Boutique hotel, in the heart of Main St Newmarket. Great dining on the rooftop and patio, also around the hotel. Fairy Lake nearby is a beautiful leisurely hiking trail. Definitely would recommend away for a nice get-away in the GTA without going to the City or too far!

The postmark is a great hotel in the heart of downtown Newmarket. It is close to all the shops and little restaurants making it great for exploring.

Where do I start? My partner and I booked this stay to celebrate an early birthday and Valentine’s Day. Upon checking in, the front desk and employees were super nice and helpful. They guided us to our room and gave us the run down of what is available within the hotel. Though, we were shocked to notice that the rooms are barely sound proof, we would be awoken every 30-50 minutes due to neighbours slamming their door shut and walking around with heavy feet. One room staying infront of us (we were in 213, our neighbours were 215 and 214) were yelling and screaming. Their conversations were super loud and disruptive. It did sound like they were bringing in multiple parties as well. Mind you this was not an issue during the day when we were not there - but this was happening after 12am til 4-6am. Until managers told them to hush up and not be so disturbing to others. My partner n I couldn’t sleep properly at all for the entire stay. If you WANT good sleep and Rest DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL! You can HEAR everything that’s going on.. Food wise, now is where it got super disappointing. both days we stayed there, the restaurants and amenities to book for and try out; were surprisingly closed. NO room service… which was pretty inconvenient cuz we would have to run out to grab food or Uber food, bummer. Overall I don’t think the price reflects the service. We requested to check out a few mins after 11. The lady mentioned an extra fee.. even luxury hotels aren’t strict like this. Ha

The Postmark is in a beautifully refurbished heritage building in the old town centre of Newmarket. The only issue I have with the hotel is that it doesn’t offer a breakfast service on week days. While there are a number of restaurants and even coffee shops in the area, none of them seem to be open before 9 am.

Accessibility at this hotel is very difficult. Had to park illegally on street to load wheelchair to side entrance, which smelled strongly of natural gas. Room service arrived cold and without full cutlery. In room phone stopped working during visit which made resolving issues difficult (however, staff was courteous and helpful). In room lighting and TV remote were difficult to navigate, especially for anyone with reduced vision. Not a great experience for a boutique style (and priced) hotel with very little amenities. (No in room fridge, microwave, or complimentary breakfast).

Beautiful new (2024) hotel with plenty of shopping and wandering close by. Very attentive staff willing to go the extra mile. Food in the rooftop restaurant was delicious.
