GR Solaris Lighthouse - All Inclusive

Beautiful property and staff was super!!! Especially Luis around the pool. He was fantastic! The air conditioning in the room could have been colder, only one elevator worked, and my husband got stuck on it once. Refrigerator in room quit working. Food was mediocre, a bit on the bland side the pools were fabulous and the Resort was very quiet and safe.

GR Solaris Lighthouse is a reasonable budget all-inclusive option for staying in San Jose Del Cabo, however, several things could have been improved. For starters, the lighthouse part of the hotel (arguably the coolest aspect of the hotel and one of the reasons we chose this place) was closed for renovations and this was not advertised prior to booking. To go along with this, the hotel hid this fact by stating 'the elevator is broken so the lighthouse is closed until it is fixed'. We stayed for a week and the elevator never got fixed so they openly lied there. Our room was a deluxe room with ocean view which was very clean and had a great bath tub... until we tried it on our third day to which the hot water tap was brown. Upon calling about this, they suggested to run the tap until it was clear but it never became clear and had a yellow-ish tint, highly disappointing considering we upgraded deliberately to use the tub. The main buffet restaurant was also not great regarding the food but probably as expected as budget all-inclusives go. The Mexican and Italian restaurants were better but the required dress code enforcement was inconsistent (I was refused entry wearing open-toe sandals only to come back with 'correct' footwear to see that the hostess had let in numerous groups with flip flops on, extremely infuriating!) Overall, not a terrible stay but certainly not a 4-star experience in which it is advertised for. We won't be staying again.

Things were still not open. Sushi restaurant was not open. Skybar was not open. Food was fine. Pool entertainment was awesome - well done by Ari and Alfredo. We didn’t get to use the facilities next door at their sister hotel. Good experience. Staff was very nice.

Staff was terrific as normal. Special shout out to Yoatzin-Bell Desk, Irene-Pool Restaurant Server and the 2 Marifer's-Concierge Desk as they took care of my fishing group and got compliments from all. On the flip side, the hotel needs to replace the ice machines as none were working, also only a couple of elevators were working and the beach restaurant was closed which was a bummer as the tower sushi restaurant was only open on Fridays which left limited choices for dining. Lastly, the hotel needs to invest in a full size freezer where us fishermen can store our catch during our stay or enable the staff to store our catch in one of the larger restaurant freezers. Wifi was spotty which needs to get fixed. They are remodeling a lot of the public areas which is great but still have a lot of work to do. We still love this hotel.

The property is right on the beach and has a lovely view! However, the beach is not suitable for swimming. The pools are nice. However, the temperatures varied throughout our stay and the hot tub was not hot/warm. The room was clean and met overall expectations. The elevator was out of service so we had to take the stairs during the entirety of our stay (not a huge deal but something to note). The food was pretty average but there were a lot of options at the buffet. Overall we had a good time, staff was nice.

Thank you Solaris Lighthouse, I enjoyed my time with you, however, there is substantial false advertising in your promotion. There was no lighthouse, construction was substantial...and the noise was ubiquitous. The staff, with exceptions was distant and aloof. The fellas at the pool bar were playful and helpful. Bruno, in the resurants, was professional and very welcoming. We might return after the work is completed. Perhaps a reduction in price would have been appropriate Gracias, Solaris Lighthouse. Disfruté mucho de mi estancia con ustedes; sin embargo, su promoción contiene mucha publicidad engañosa. No había faro, las obras eran considerables... y el ruido era omnipresente. El personal, salvo excepciones, era distante y distante. Los chicos del bar de la piscina eran simpáticos y serviciales. Bruno, en el restaurante, fue profesional y muy amable. Podríamos volver después de que terminen las obras. Quizás una rebaja en el precio hubiera sido apropiada.

El hotel esta muy deteriorado, quieren convertirlo en un club exclusivo pero solo cuentan con pequeñas zonas remodeladas, lo demas esta horrible, descuidado y no parece que tengan dinero para su mantenimiento,la calidad de la comida es muy mala y los restaurantes exclusivos no tienen ningun diferencial en bebidas o comida.. son malos y se nota que no invierten en tener comida o bebida de mejor calidad. No funcionaban la mayoria de los elevadores estaban en mantenimiento y las maquinas de hielo no funcionaban. El estacionamiento esta oscuro y sucio,Fue una decepcion estar en un hotel asi, no lo recomiendo aunque sea económico, hay mejores cadenas hoteleras. El personal es atento, solo el gerente Marcos fue descortés

Drinks were water down, pool bartenders either overworked or underpaid. The food as barely edible and areas not very sanitary. Not many activities and shows although they tried were not great. Cleaning ladies for the rooms were excellent After checking in they send you to talk to someone and they want you to join their club, once I denied they were rude.

They picked the cups out of the garbage by the pool to reuse. Absolutely terrible!

I had one of the most terrible experiences in hotels at the Solaris. The buffet was not open until 1pm, so we decided to eat the snacks at the pool until they opened. The cheese sauce was watery and didn't taste like cheese. The ceviche had been sitting there for god knows how long, it tasted like cardboard and I had to spit it out. The hamburger patties tasted like rubber and I was very surprised how the bad the food was. Once the buffet opened, I assumed we were going to be safe. I spoke too soon. The buffet had the same vibe, nothing was edible and I ended up eating a watery ice cream cone just to satiate my appetite. I tried ordering room service later to see if they could redeem themselves, that too, was a culinary disaster! The one thing this hotel needs to improve on the most is w their security. There was a weird guy tweeking outside our hotel room, we were not sure what he was doing but we got scared and wanted to call security to come and help this gentleman. I CALLED AND CALLED, EVERYONE (CONCIERGE, FRONT DESK, GUEST SERVICES, ETC...) NOBODY WAS ANSWERING. I called for 45 minutes and no answer!!! Overall, sheets smelled like urine and upper hotel staff was not accommodating. Will never go back, we left that night even though we had a whole week, and they refused to give any money back!! Horrible, terrible service!! Ran out of space, couldn't finish my whole run down.

Standard older all inclusive. Food isn’t bad but not great, best food was room service. Rooms are dated and old. Pools are clean and cold on a hot day. Gift shop is ridiculously overpriced. Most of the staff is good but pretty uncaring and unhelpful. If you’re a smoker the smoking area is extremely inconveniently located.

The property was clean for the most part. I would just say it’s an older property. Pool area chairs and tables can use better cleaning or replacing. The room was clean. Bed was comfortable. I struggle going on vacation because of the bed but I would say it was comfy!

I didn't like that there was no hot water not in the shower not in the hot tub and this was not told before when we checked in. We stayed there five nights with no hot water lukewarm at best. Front desk was rude about returning our towels and acted like we stole them. The resort needs to work out a few issues and then it will be nice. The fiesta night dinner was gross it was like all weeks leftovers. It was fairly empty the week we stayed April 22nd through the 27th

The place is ok. There’s something like a motor working all night and the sound kept me up all night.

I want to start off on a good note. Absolutely love the staff. The pool entertainment team were great playing bingo was my favorite. First red flag was right after booking. I reserved the room through Expedia for myself and my 5 year old daughter, but I was surprised to see an extra guest fee added. When I inquired about it i was given the run around for weeks but eventually I was told the charge was because I booked a single occupancy room which might i add had double beds, which still makes no sense since I clearly listed both of us as guests. That alone should’ve warned me I was walking into some nonsense. The resort is advertised as “new”, but there’s nothing new about it. I think it was just rebranded with minor renovations(if that). The room is subpar, the chairs on my balcony were ripped, the bug netting sliding door on the balcony was broken. There was a yogurt bottle on the floor behind the night stand the shower water doesn’t get really hot. When i bought all of these issues to the front desk they were able to change the chairs and fix the sliding netting door. They never removed the yogurt bottle which i bought to their attention 3 times I’m pretty sure it’s still there in real time. I eventually took showers in my sister room because her water was hot, but on the last night she had a dead cockroach in her bathroom and this was after her room was cleaned. If your standards are low this is place would be great for you but i would not recommend.

We spent 5 days there and everyone was so nice. They cleaned our room everyday and even folded our clothes which was unusual to us. They also restocked our fridge everyday with water and beer. We had an ocean room with a balcony which was beautiful to see every morning. Also it was nice to actually leave the resort and walk to town with restaurants, bars, and music. All the locals are really nice. The only thing we didn’t like is the Time Share sales people but you can just say, “No thank you, I’m not interested “. We will definitely go back.

Staff and service were above average. I dont usually reference certain individuals in reviews, but Randall in the area around the pool and on the beach was THE best waiter we have ever had. We were a group of 8 and our drink order was constantly changing but he never got it wrong and always had a smile on his face and seemed truly happy to be of service to us even though I know we can be a tricky group. We were there 5 days and after we met him on the second day he never failed to wave, say "hi" or smile in recognition whenever he saw us. Randall along with the rest of the wait staff and housekeeping were fantastic!! Rooms were just OK. We had a superior oceanfront room and the view was great. Overall, the furnishings and bathrooms could use a little updating, nothing serious, just updating. Beds were above average in comfort in my opinion. Food was very average. Certainly not going to go hungry, but also nothing I couldnt wait to have again. Breakfast buffet was pretty good but dinner buffet was lacking, only ate it once. Mexican restaurant was a 6 while Italian was a 7 IMO. Didnt eat at the sushi restaurant but friends did and they said it was above average. Drinks were not great. I think they would benefit in having a class or training so the drinks are made the same every time. Ordered a variety of drinks and very rarely would it be made the same way. On the downside, we had an issue with our reservation, certainly not the end of the world.

i was stayed as a single. when I checked in, i was told that I did not need evening dining reservations (as a single and very low occupancy due to time of year (september)). On my last night of 8, i was refused a table at the resort restaurant because i didn't have a reservation ... I didn't have one the previous 4 nights (i went out off the resort for a few). In addition, on checkout day, my airport transportation was picking me up at 11:45am. check out is 11 am, i asked for a 11:30am check out ... and was refused. This is the first time i have ever been refused a late checkout ... what a joke.

It was OK but seems more like a 3 star than a 4 star. The reception/checking in process was very disorganized and nobody seems to know what they are doing. Room wasn’t ready. The hotel is cheaping out on the food offerings. Staff seem stressed out in the main buffet restaurants. w

Was absolutely stunning the whole stay! Amazing service and people especially Louis!! Food was good and drinks were great. Overall fantastic place to stay:)

Our fifth visit to this property, previous four visits this was a Barcello Lighthouse ownership, which was a great small all inclusive. This was our first visit under New ownership, Solaris Lighthouse, and this visit was not great. Worst was the food service, buffet meal selections often cold, not tasty, fatty pork cuts, hard to cut and chew beef, chicken mainly wing, leg and thighs. The pool side burgers, hot dogs and french fries good, morning breakfast omelettes good , bacon was very limited. Worst experience was the subtle lead into sales of the "Solaris Club Memberships", which started with questioning poor facility conditions ,much like the SJD airport high pressure time share hawkers. Showing staged rooms in like new condition, unlike the regularly used rooms. This is a beautiful small facility, we paid for beachfront and it was a beautiful view , but dated in need of repair and maintenance. I hope the management team gets it together because we would go back if they make the necessary improvements. I will rely on future guest comments to see.

I had pre-arranged with the hotel for airport pickup and transportation but it took over 2 hours for them to actually come and get me. One driver arrived after 45 min but he was there to pick up another couple, despite having my name and confirmation on his phone. Check-in at the hotel was easy & efficient. I did not like the hard sales push after check-in, as we had been traveling all day and just wanted to get into our rooms. My room flooded the first night, with water coming in from the ceiling near the door and throughout the bathroom. I had about 2 inches of water in my room before I was finally moved to a new room. It was close to 11:30pm by the time I got to my new room. The hostess for the Mexican and Italian restaurants was rude. The first night she told us we must have a reservation, despite the restaurant only being half full. As we started to leave, she stopped us and told us she would seat us but insisted that tomorrow we would need a reservation. The second night we had a reservation but accidentally made it for the next night. She refused to seat us, but again as we started to leave, she agreed to seat us. The wait staff at breakfast was very reluctant to serve us mimosas. The pool bar on Sunday was out of Sparkling Wine and White wine. The hotel is great need of updating. Most of the staff were pleasant but the people working the bar were less than pleasant, throughout the hotel. The pool does not have enough chairs to support the volume of guests.

We had a good 5 day vacation here at GR Solaris Lighthouse it was relaxing. I’d just say that it says there are 6 restaurants on property, only members that pay for time shares or buy the packages that the sales team sells are able to use 2 so in total we could use the breakfast buffet, lunch buffet, and two other restaurants (Mexican and Italian). We have been to all inclusive resorts before, and the only food that seemed like it had good flavor was the breakfast all the other food was 6/10. We know that the hotel was just purchased by the brand so they are still maybe going through some quirks but overall it was an okay stay. The rooms were perfect and clean the lobby was perfect and clean as well. The gym was clean and the restaurants were clean, just the food wasn’t what we were expecting for a four star resort.

We enjoyed our 10 night stay and can’t say enough about the amazing staff. They were so helpful and friendly. There are lots of choices for food and 2 bars to get drinks from. Our room was cleaned and restocked every day. They did have shortage of towels from time to time. Beds were comfortable and always had hot water for our showers. We walked or took the bus to many places in the area and always felt safe.

Very nice smaller property. It is clean and the staff is friendly. The ocean is much to rough to swim in. Getting reservations for the restaurants was impossible. You had to use the "app" and it did not work for anyone we talked to. Nice place for the money.

Stayed Oct 22-30, 2024. It was off-season and the place was pretty empty (nice), one building was completely dark. Everything was available, though. Food is buffet style--not amazing, but good enough with plenty of dishes to choose from and service was great. DJ at the pool. Place was very clean, but one elevator in our bldg didn't work and none of the ice machines worked. They should take the ice signs down. Hotel is located right on the beach, on the Sea of Cortez side of Baja, but in an area not near anything so if you want to go anywhere, you will have to figure it out yourself and arrange transportation. We booked this trip through Expedia who offered no transportation from the airport to the hotel, but we found a company and arranged private transportation to/from the hotel. We went on an ATV excursion through Real Baja Tours which was a blast, but it took us about an hour and 10 minutes to get to the ATV beaches on the Pacific side (but well worth it). This hotel is far from Cabo San Lucas, but you have peace and quite here. Beaches in this area are big and uncrowded. We were warned to stay out of the ocean due to a strong undertow, but I went in up to my calves with no problems--warmest ocean I've ever been in. We saw a large sea turtle lay eggs in the sand, bury them, and return to the sea. Saddled horses are brought to the beach daily and are ready to ride anytime of day. There are ladies providing massages on the beach, as well.

Pros: Location, is walking distance from shops restaurants and plazas. Cleanliness of resort/room. Beach, easy beach access. Cons: Resort food was sub par, worst of all the all-inclusive resorts I have stayed in. We opted to eat out at restaurants which kinda defeats the purpose of choosing an all-inclusive resort. Staff attentiveness, while there was plenty of staff that was helpful and attentive we encountered a few that were not. For instance, I requested a coffee from our server at the dinner buffet and he responded saying that they didn’t have any. Shortly after we saw him taking coffee to another table. Room service, has a $100 pesos charge. Again, I’ve stayed in multiple all-inclusive resorts and this was new to me. Drinks, I know all-inclusive resorts are known to water down alcoholic drinks but this place I felt outdid the others. To summarize, I don’t see myself staying there again. There were less expensive options that I am sure would have matched my experience at the Solaris Lighthouse.

Nice property and the food was Okay. Nice staff. Rooms were nice. The hotel is really not close to souvenirs shops.

The aesthetic was great and rooms were incredible. The food was not great at all, which is unfortunate since we paid for all inclusive. Breakfast also kept running out each day we were there. The front desk person was nice while being the only one to check in/out over 5 people at any given time. Unfortunately, they forgot to charge me for the room (???) and called me at 6am and said I needed go pay for it immediately right then and there. Definitely not okay. Hotel was far away from everything.

The resort was beautiful. The staff was friendly and attentive. The food was what you would expect from an all inclusive. The landscaping and grounds were meticulously maintained. The area around the resort had plenty of options for shopping, restaurants and cafes. We look forward to our next visit.

Nice location to San jose

Every negative review was right on point. Every positive review must have been a bot. The buffet food was unpleasant. We enjoyed the Italian restaurant the first night, but not the second night. The service and the quality of food went down. We could not get a taco anywhere! To be in Mexico and not get Mexican food was very disappointing. There was lots of construction going on. It just seems that this location is not ready for guests. Office buildings are temporarily where you check-in and one of the bars. It's a very strange experience.They need additional staff that is properly trained to meet all inclusive expectations. This was our 10th all-inclusive trip to Mexico, first time at this resort, and we will not come back. The swim of bar was usually staffed with one bartender to serve two hundred people. We sat at the buffet for breakfast and no one came to give us water or coffee. We got our own.

Few dinner options

I stayed here for a week and hotel was nice and comfortable, its all inclusive but the food is flavorless, bland, and worst of all COLD, only decent thing when it comes to food at this hotel is the breakfast in the morning. Other than that the buffet and the restaurant which you (have) to get reservations to dine in are bad. I was exited about unlimited drinks that come with the all inclusive but please be prepared to get water down version of your favorite drinks, all the liquor that is offered at this hotel tastes the same so that was a big let down. 4 out of 10 experience

I liked the beach view. The food could be better , it was cold being a buffet it should be kept warm . Other restaurant availability not possible to book reservations. Snack bar should and could be healthier .

Good was mediocre. The buffet did not have that many options. They have individual chefs making omelets and pasta dishes for one person when they should be cooking for bulk. Long lines for these individual dishes.

Grounds are well maintained. Was there for 4 nights, swim up pool bar run out of mezcal on our first day and never restocked it for the rest of our trip,bartenders suggested we go complain to the front desk because the hotel refuses to restock the bars.

The food at the buffet restaurants could be improved with more variety and more Mexican food. Some of the food was bland. The bar service at the Sky Bar was bad, the bartender ignored us and served other people first who arrived after us. The service at the pool bar could be improved as well, people at the swim up bar were ignored while people at the other side of the bar got service. A staff member took our drink orders while we were lounging by the pool and never returned. The rest of the staff were great and our room was good and clean.

Much like it's sister property next door, this place is just old and could use some major renovations. 3 star property at best due to view and location. Pool water excruciatingly hot and with heat indexes around 100 it was never refreshing. it actually felt gross. The food was absolutely abysmal. Stick to the fresh to order items like eggs and maybe the burger bar by the pool. Otherwise we left the property to eat even though we had All-Inclusive. The food was simply put terrible. Probably the worse food I've ever had at an all-inclusive. Flavorless and overcooked dry meat. And it was the exact same offering every day for breakfast, lunch and dinner. they may add something new but it was never anything good. How can a place in mexico makes such bad mexican food?? A truly unsolved mystery. as for the onite restaurants, you have to make reservations at 3:10pm on Solaris app each day for that evenings restaurants. I never got one reservation. Even at 3:09 by the time I went in, all restaurants were booked. I hear the food was good. The drinks, yes all you can drink if you want to ingest sweet sugary drinks your entire stay and get diabetes. After 2 days, i had to switch to tequila sodas. Beer is limited to Tecate light and Dos XX. that's it. We were here last week of July 2025 so its considered "off-season" so although they tried so hard for engagment and fun the crowd wasn't lively. Not their fault mind you, but we've definitely had more fun at other resorts.

Food was plain and blend. Always the same food. Couldn’t take food to your room unless you pay an extra $10. It’s all inclusive. Never again
