The Melville Hotel Kings Cross

Great location! I love the self check in and check out. We could also leave our luggage the next day as we had a late train leaving london. The room was very practical for everything you need and in a great location! Would I stay again - yes!

We booked here for an overnight stay with our grandchildren to visit London. The price was very competitive for a family room. It was nice that we had a kitchenette with sink, microwave, kettle & coffee machine. A iron & ironing board are available and a hairdryer if needed. There was also a patio door leading to a small patio area with seating, which was shared with the opposite room. Unfortunately we had a problem with ants, which I guess can happen anywhere. The room wasnt perfect, cleanliness couldve been better by sides of beds and underneath and rugs were poorly placed and a potential trip hazard (attention to detail)....Wallpaper coming away from wall...Not all lights working. That said, beds were clean and comfortable. The room itself is a good size with 2 double beds. Bathroom was extremly small, it is a unit installed into the room, much like a caravan style, but honestly, if you just need a place to stop over at a reasonable price, its okay, though if you're like a size 2XL or larger, you'd have trouble trying to move around in there. I'd rather have had this in the room though, than to share a bathroom with other guests, so that's something to bear in mind. Bottom line: I loved the art deco style of the room and outside area & having a kitchenette and somewhere private to get clean, albeit extremely small. I was disappointed by the attention to detail, things that could easily be rectified without huge costs and the prescence of ants.

Expedia forgot to mention that this building doesn’t have a lift. We received a room at the 3rd floor taking very steep and narrow stairs. No chance to escape a fire,God forbid! The room is very small, the heating didn’t work so we had to use the hairdryer to heat the room and it smell terrible of chlorine. If you have a certain age or reduce mobility do not book this hotel

I requested extra blanket and pillow but when I asked at desk they were just telling me Hôtel is full. Eventually I got an extra pillow- I also asked about an adapter and was told just bit one because people don’t return them. How about u put a pending charge on my account and when o return it you take back the charge? Many hotels in Canada do this type of thing for tv etc Also speaking of tv the connection was spotty. We tried to fix it and unplugged it and re plugged it as it said on tv to do- Also we were told water maybe best to buy. A complimentary bottle would have been great. The coffee machine was great! I recommend putting bigger cups beside it as the small glass ones overflowed. I did find bigger ones in the cupboard. Over all ok I guess for one night close to the station.

Down side: One of the double beds was a broken camp bed. Broken window in the room. Shared patio which we didn’t know before we went and it was filthy, cigarette bits etc. no coffee in the room. Overall a but random. Up side: Staff were really helpful. Great location for Kings Cross. No coffee provided in the room or reception Okay for one night. I wouldn’t have wanted to stay longer sadly.

First off I called before booking ask if it had electric parking. They said yes not far. I booked it. Electric charger doesn’t work and the guy said it’s not there problem. I understand that put pull that off your web page and not tell people it’s available when it’s not. Another thing the bath room smelled so bad from the moment you stepped in the “family” room. It was awful. Front desk gave me a air freshener spray. Hands down DO NOT BOOK. There are other great hotels around.

Good base right near to kings cross, the guys were really friendly. We found some other residents quite noisy but this is no fault of the hotel. Room had everything needed. Were able to leave bags on check out to pick up later, really helpful.

Lovely hotel. Stayed here 1 night after returning from Disneyland. Hotel is across the road from St Pancreas Station. I was exhausted when we arrived back around 10pm. Room was beautiful, lovely comfy bed and hot shower was very much appreciated. Fridge, microwave and coffee machine plus kettle was an added bonus. Would highly recommend this hotel.

A very pleasant experience, help with our bags ( no lift). Offer to store bags after checkout. Good all around.

Our only issues were heating on all night which we couldn’t control so very warm and window wouldn’t open properly. Water pressure in shower also poor. Ok for our one night stay.

The room looked old and unkept. It had satined sheets, pillow cases and matress. Which was also very uncomfortable to sleep on. The bathroom was dirty. The ironing boad had no cover and i was given a towel to use as a cover by a member of staff. The iron did not work properly. People were c iron did not work properly. We could not sleep all night night due to noise. People coming in and out of heir rooms noisily, dlamming doors andtalking very loudly. We could slso hear the washing machine al night long.

The hotel staff were all friendly and helpful so no complaints there, but beware: They call this the "flat" or "apartment" of the Melville hotel, but "garden shed" is more accurate. It is located some distance away from the hotel itself. It is damp and dark, badly in need of renovation and overall quite depressing. Signs of moisture/mold everywhere. The radiator was leaking with a pot to collect the water when we were there. I would not recommend staying here, even at a significantly discounted rate.

check in no problem. check out no staff there, had to leave a note. Room 29 had dirty window frames. Towel rail and toilet roll holder very rusty, wash basin also. No spoon for tea/coffee. Tea coffee holder was dirty. Towel was thread bare with bits coming off it.

Like many others previously, the photo's draw you in and really aren't an accurate representation of what you're actually getting. Significant mould/decay around toilet flush, sink and mould spots on ceiling and bed base. Beds are lumpy and dated its just a basic double with a box base. Tvs are maybe 25 inch. The pictures you are looking at are probably when it first opened years ago but nothing has been done in terms of repairs and upkeep. The only reason i'm not totally disappointed is because its literally 2 minutes from kings cross station and we didn't spend much time at all in the rooms

A little bit noisy and shower was cold but couldn’t find anyone to help fix it. Modern decor and easy to find/check in. Clean and comfortable just a pity about the above.

This place is so run down. And its very dirty!!! The stairs are very dangerous. The place was so cluttered.

Welcome was friendly, room dirty, bathroom also dirty no toilet paper, bedroom window dangerous frame coming apart! Definitely in need of a good clean and refresh!

What a warm welcome from Front of House! My bag was whisked to my first-floor room with a wonderful view of the garden square. Everything was spotlessly clean, the room has some quirky rather engrossing art, the shower was good and strong ... can recommend the Melville for anyone who fancies a night or three in a really good part of town.

A family with 3 adults staying for 3 nights. 1.Shallow and smaller then A4 paper basin, water splash all over your body. 2.I tried to remove the bath mat as I not get use to it, shocked to uncover the shower floor was broken. The mat was deliberately used for covering it up. Hair all stuck on the mat. 3.Table with a cup of coffee and an ashtray full of cigarettes in the front yard during check in, disgusting. 4.Broken lightbulb on the front yard floor, no fixing. 5.Light outside the entrance door covered with spiderweb. 6.No toilet paper and paper roll holder. 7.1 floor towel and 3 big towels on the first night. Host reluctantly gave us 3 more towels on the second night upon requests and specifying he will NOT provide us any more towels. I felt so bad begging for towels. One of the towels gave us on the second night were stained, disgusting. Description of the hotel amenities is cheating, please specify towels only available on the first day ONLY. 8.Sofa and chair with yellow stains. potato chips found on the sofa and the floor, clearly no/rough cleaning or sanitzing work. 9.We got 5 hangers, 3 of them were from fitting room with logos and printed size labels.Crazy. 10.I travelled with parents age 65 , I deliberately asked the host for the no of stairs. They said my room is on the G/F with just 3 steps, omitting the up and downstairs along the corridor. I knew your staff are willing to help on luggages, but a genuine answer to my query is a matter of honesty that I concern.

We arrived and went to our room. The bathroom lights and the power plugs were not working. I notified them and they moved us to a room without ac. The beds were like futons, the wood floors were worn off stain, bathroom shower had black mold in corners. The decor of our room was unmatched. The area was quiet and very convenient to kings cross station.

Only stayed for 1 night and it was due to its proximity to the Eurostar which was fantastic, the bad points were to some extent not the hotels fault. It was a fairly warm night, high 20’s and couldn’t have the windows open due to the surrounding areas just being so nosy it was almost non stop sirens from the surrounding sreas and just general noise from the outside so had to shut the window to reduce the noise (not completely remove it) having the window shut made the room even hotter as there is zero airflow or anything to cool down the room, there was also loud banging from other guests every time a door was opened/closed and etc. I think if you do say here take some ear plugs and maybe only book for the colder months of the year. The staff were polite and efficient, the location is a short walk from the station, the facility’s were dated and not In the best condition but the real reason I wouldn’t stay again is the complete lack of sleep that was had from the noise and heat.

Very uncomfortable. Room was incredibly warm even in November. Windows didn’t open. Shower slow to drain.

Service was friendly and engaging. The hotel's pretty nice, and really handy for Kings Cross. The room was OK for one. A bedside lamp would have been a helpful touch. Please don't put the TV directly under the air con - it was dripping condensate onto the electrics and will do so again. I raised it with staff, who have resolved to fix this.

Very noisy. Other guests shout at 4am right outside our window. Door didn't fit properly, was a very windy night so it kept banging. Had to find something to wedge it closed. Floor boards squeaky. Room was very small compact.

Close to Kings Cross. Staff were helpful and pleasant. The room was small but very clean. It was great for one night but would not be great for a long stay as there was very little storage for clothes- no hangers , plus the mirrors were too high to look into so it was impossible for shaving, makeup, hair etc.

The room was tired, paint work was chipped on the wall, the shower doors did not close and the shutters had slats missing The staff and comunucations was very good and they advised that they are hoping to complete renovations soon

Disappointed by quality of room which was in the basement next to the street. Very small considering the price paid.

Super wonderful staff who were friendly and amiable. A small issue with a non-working code was sorted swiftly and in a very professional manner. If you have a dodgy back or sort joints the mattresses might not do you any favours but the room was perfect for a family of 4 about to go on holiday

No staff, no reception, shower dangerously hot. Tightly squeezed into multi-level space. Not in any way worth the money.

Start to finish, I turned up to the hotel and was asked a for a code I didn't receive and then he release I was a room with a key so didn't need a code. The key to the outside door was not working properly but I was told I just need to give it a few goes, in the end this key was not good enough. Once in the room I dropped of my stuff and had to head out. On my return I couldn't get through the door but another guest came and opened it with a code. Once back into he from I was about to have a proper look at the room. The walls had mould on, the corner and other areas had cobweb, the bin hadn't been emptied, there was a pair of knickers left in the room and the mattress had some plywood under as the frame was broken. I tried to call the hotel to change rooms as there was no one at reception but nobody answered the 3 times I tried. I managed to sleep. When I checked out I reported all this to the receptionist and they said they would look into it. I would not recommend this hotel as the price was the same as a premier inn which is always good quality and around the corner.

The property was in a great location although situated opposite a park frequented by homeless types who were noisy throughout the night. The reception and staff were faultless. The room was clean, but tired and sparse. There was no plug in the sink, the shower head was broken and a lat or two missing from the window shutters.

We were travelling to Brussels from St Pancras Station, needed a place for just one night, coz the train was early in the morning, hotel is just 5 minutes walking distance, very convenient, would recommend for very short stay.

Nice staff. Clean room. People yelled a d talked all night in the park. Right outside the window. They played music. Police were heard thru out the night. Not good for sleeping

Good stay! Room was super tiny, but we were only stopping through for a night, and it was super close to the train station, which is what we were aiming for. Staff made check-in and check-out super simple.

major building work nearby. Seemed to be a large group of men congregating regularly during the day in the small park next to the hotel. Could be intimidating for some people. Hotel itself very nice, with pleasant staff..

Room was basic but comfortable. 2 Light bulbs not working in bathroom. Hospitality trolley only had 1 cup but another was added after asking. Complimentary water would have been a nice touch. Hotel in a perfect location for our needs and a reasonable price.

Does not look like what it does on the pictures. Meant to look boutique-esk. We esstentially had a box room. No water, no service, a bed squished up against the wall and bumping into everything.
