The hotel is well located and is a really nice old building. The standard is really good, the breakfast was amazing. Room nice and clean. The only negative I had is that it said Free parking at the hotel. I was going to park at the main carpark and pay, due to the hotel parking being full but I waited and someone left so I had their space. Upon checkin I still had to pay for parking. Apparently if booking through an agent you have to pay for parking, which is actually more than in the main carpark anyway!

We were in Lichfield for a short break the George Hotel is right in the centre of the City the staff were friendly & helpful the hotel is clean and tidy. There is a private car park and I would recommend a stay here.

The rooms are tired and could do with an upgrade. Parking is £10 on site, which is a little too much compared to other sites Best Western own. Food was lovely, good selection at breakfast.

Poor sound insulation. We could hear the very lively and noisy town centre nightlife until the early hours. Also had wooden floors and could all the movement from the room above. Decor was tired. Hotel car park was limited and full when we arrived so parked in the public car park behind which cost £20 for 24hrs.

George was a great location for a weekend stay in Lichfield. Easy to park and very central to all the lovely attractions. Air con worked really well as did the shower. Bar area was very comfortable with expected prices.Rooms were clean and tidy with breakfast choice being superb. Would highly recommend.

An awful welcome. The hotel forgot to notify us that there was a fair ground in full flow in their carpark ! Receptionist explained that they were unaware of the issue ahead of the day. As a result. The £10 parking onsite became a £25 fee in a public carpark. Clumsy customer experience AT BEST! awkward walk with cases and more expence than planned. Room was spacious and as advertised. Although aircom had been deactivated. Windows open to a continuous rumble of a fan. A shame the finer details let down a lovely hotel.

I would strongly suggest contacting hotel before arrival to get precise directions to hotel and especially its car park. Satnav was not enough! Hotel itself was comfortable and extremely well placed. Beware of rooms facing the street as these can get noisy.

Very nice hotel, friendly staff.car park £10:00 for 24 hrs. Check in 3:00pm, you have to be off by 12:00 the next day, so only 21 hrs . A bit petty, but that's the only moan I have.

The room was small and very noisy due to the kitchen extractor fan running. It was switched of in the evening but then switched back on at 5:30am. It was very loud and the whole room vibrated. We could not get back to sleep. We did request a room change but were told the hotel was full. The hair drier was unsafe with connections accessible and in a poor condition. It was very hot the air on didn’t work and we couldn’t have the widow open due to the noise. The room also smelled musky.

Room was lovely & clean, big comfortable bed but the bathroom had a really awful smell of damp mild, extractor fan didn’t work so I assume the hotel know about this problem as there was an air freshener on the toilet. Just kept the bathroom door shut so not a problem unless you went in there. Breakfast a bit disappointing as food was cold left in small trays on a hot plate. Continental was just a yogurt some grapes and pastry. Breakfast was eastern before managing to get someone’s attention for coffee & toast, seems if you sit in the far room your out of sight out of mind. Coffee ok and toast with jam fine for a light breakfast but I wouldn’t book on for it again, I’m sure there are much nice breakfasts locally. Drinks in the bar extortionate a gin & tonic £8.50. In a great location in the town by the river.

As I stay hear on a regular basis I booked a double room as having trouble sleeping and normally book a single. But I got the same room as I stayed in previously as a single room booking. Quilts and pillows need replacing as they are limp and smell.

The hotel was very ordinary. The rooms were never serviced during our stay. We used some wine glasses on the 2nd day of our 3 day stay, these glasses stayed in the room throuhtout our stay.. We booked twinned rooms for two couples but only 1 set of towels were left in the rooms, we both had to treck to reception for extra towels. £10.00 per night for parking...which you had to pay on entering the hotel. The signpost to the hotel's car park was not properly sign posted. I would recommend this hotel only for its location, its located right in the centre of the town.

Another good stay. Well organised, clean and good food at reasonable prices. Only downside was that, on one of the hottest nights of the year so far, the aircon wasn’t enabled and so a hot, sticky night ensued. But a nice place to stay and Lichfield itself is a good place to visit.

Old property so floors were wonky and room was a bit or a random shape. The check in was ok albeit the clerk was a little stressed / not entirely welcoming. I would say that our room was pretty noisy at night due to it being close to a pub and a lot of drunk shouting people though not sure there is much they could do about that. Did what we needed it to do - hot water, comfortable bed.

Sadly, we were greeted by a very surly receptionist on the evening of Friday 16th Dec. Before going out for the evening, my partner spoke to the same receptionist to say the heating wasn’t working & asked for a plug in heater, only to be told there were none left, my partner then asked if maintenance could help, while we were out, to which he got a muttered reply. The room was still freezing on our return, we reported this to another surly receptionist on check out, no apology, no offer of any compensation, she only asked if we had reported the fault at the time & said ‘Oh, that’s a shame’ Appalling customer service from both receptionists, having stayed here before, we expect better. All of this was topped off by very loud noise from the street below until 3am. Very much doubt we will return. The second evening of our stay, we were at St Johns House, Lichfield… wow! A world of difference, a true 5 star experience, for just £20 more than a dreadful night at this hotel.

The hotel is in serious need of upgrading. The building is old so I’m sure there are limits regarding what can be done but the room was freezing. Windows had been left open all day on a day it had been snowing. Single pane windows so even when closed the room couldn’t heat up. Staff were excellent but the hotel is simply not comfortable during cold weather due to the building age.

Was on the top floor bit the heat as you walk up to that level was stifling. The air con unit wasn’t working which made for a very uncomfortable night. Doors banging so also not great for sleep. Hotel full so couldn’t change. Hotel is a little dated.

The location is great, right in the middle of Lichfield, good for getting to the Cathedral or restaurants and shops. The bedrooms are v small, and cramped. I was in a room next to a door which was noisy and the soundproofing meant that you could clearly hear people coming and going.

Conveniently located with car park (fee charged) in the centre of Lichfield. Staff need a lesson in Customer Service, surly, uncommunicative and talking to other staff whilst dealing with Customers. Only one bath towel provided and no shampoo. Will be using the new Premier Inn just up the road next time we visit Lichfield.

Great hotel in Lichfield. We did parkrun last Saturday and the breakfast staff were very helpful and made a bacon sandwich as we would miss breakfast times. Room 74 thank you. All staff friendly and polite. Comfortable room.

We booked the executive suite for at The George for a special occasion (my 50th birthday) to coincide with our booking for a reservation at Tom Shepherds Upstairs restaurant, both were booked back on December 28th 2022. We looked forward to this occasion for months and were very excited to be staying in Lichfield. Unfortunately when we arrived and checked in the room we were allocated was NOT the room that we had booked. When I returned to reception they were adamant it was the correct room until I showed them my email to confirm I had booked the executive suite. At this point they said the bride and groom had that suite and the hotel was fully booked. We were very disappointed with the response, and were offered a bottle of Prosecco which was very nice but there was no mention of any kind of refund for the difference in price or the inconvenience. I’m more disappointed that we weren’t informed of this beforehand my email, text or phone call which we then could have made alternative arrangements or they could have at least offered us breakfast for the inconvenience. My partner has emailed the hotel a number of times but we have received no reply at all which I think is very disappointing and unprofessional.

We arrived at hotel around 1.30pm. It was too early for check in but I asked politely if room was available and I was told quite curtly that check in was 3pm. I am pretty sure they had rooms serviced but they charge a £25 early check in fee so I get the impression will never offer early check in without paying for it. I was told also that I would have to pay £5 car park fee that was never mentioned on any paperwork (I checked). We left our bag as we had to drive into Birmingham to park for the Bruce Springsteen gig. We returned at around 1am and saw the night porter who told me a parking fee didn’t apply as I’d booked before they changed this. He gave us our room key but when we arrived at our room the key didn’t work. We saw a hotel employee in the corridor who asked if we were ok. I explained about key and he tried without success so he went and got a different key. The door opened but the room was like a furnace. There was heat coming from one of the appliances and the windows couldn’t be opened. There was no possibility that a human being could have slept in that room. I would estimate it was over 30 degrees in there. The hotel employee agreed that we couldn’t stay in that room so after about 15 mins wait we were transferred to the room next door. It was cooler in that room but still very hot. We had a very poor sleep. After breakfast we went back to room and realised just how hot it was. I don’t think we would have survived the night in original room. Just awful.

Whilst the staff we met were friendly and the hotel room spacious and comfy, we barely got any sleep due to the noise from Walkabout across the road which stays open until 3am. I think the hotel should offer discounted fees for any rooms situated opposite the bar as even with the windows closed it was so loud, I can’t imagine what the summer is like. I did mention this to reception when we checked out but apart from saying sorry they didn’t offer anything else by way of compensation which leaves me to this review. £150 for less than 3 hours sleep. You also have to pay £8 for parking which isn’t mentioned anywhere.

We were in Lichfield for a short break the George Hotel is right in the centre of the City the staff were friendly & helpful the hotel is clean and tidy. There is a private car park and I would recommend a stay here.

Poor sound insulation. We could hear the very lively and noisy town centre nightlife until the early hours. Also had wooden floors and could all the movement from the room above. Decor was tired. Hotel car park was limited and full when we arrived so parked in the public car park behind which cost £20 for 24hrs.

Great overnight stay at The George Hotel which is centrally located in the city and within walking distance of all the shops and attractions. Another good stay. Well organised, clean and good food at reasonable prices. Only downside was that, on one of the hottest nights of the year so far, the aircon wasn’t enabled and so a hot, sticky night ensued. But a nice place to stay and Lichfield itself is a good place to visit.

This hotel is conveniently situated next to a large public carpark and the hotel has a lot of character. The room I had was not large but it was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast in the morning was excellent, one of the best I've had for a long time and the service from all the staff was first class.

Room was lovely & clean, big comfortable bed but the bathroom had a really awful smell of damp mild, extractor fan didn’t work so I assume the hotel know about this problem as there was an air freshener on the toilet. Just kept the bathroom door shut so not a problem unless you went in there. Breakfast a bit disappointing as food was cold left in small trays on a hot plate. Continental was just a yogurt some grapes and pastry. Breakfast was eastern before managing to get someone’s attention for coffee & toast, seems if you sit in the far room your out of sight out of mind. Coffee ok and toast with jam fine for a light breakfast but I wouldn’t book on for it again, I’m sure there are much nice breakfasts locally. Drinks in the bar extortionate a gin & tonic £8.50. In a great location in the town by the river.

Booked the four poster bed room. It was a hot evening and we know the hotel can't control the weather but the room was 30 degree's plus. The fridge was hardly what you could call cold and in fact if was hardly working and there was a old air con unit on the wall that looked like it hadn't worked for years , The sofa in the room had seen better days and all in all we thought the room was tired. The conclusion was on our return to the room late evening, it was so hot we checked out because no way could we sleep.

An excellent hotel. The service and facilities are excellent, with good food at reasonable prices. The building itself is old, so don't expect spacious rooms, but they are well organised, fresh and inviting. My only issue was with the bathroom, which was tidy and the shower cubicle was more suited to a caravan in size terms; I could barely get in and out though the narrow opening. But I've stayed there many times over the years and found the service and catering overcome any shortfalls.
