Stuck in the 1980s The staff were unhelpful and not particularly welcoming, which set the tone for the stay. The room lacked basics you would expect at almost any hotel: no bottled water, no coffee or tea. There was no air conditioning either. More generally, neither the hotel nor the rooms appear to have been renovated or properly maintained over the years. Everything felt worn and dated, as if the place had been left untouched since the 1980s. I would not stay here again.

The hotel was lovely, very clean, and in a great location. We really enjoyed our stay. We contacted the hotel beforehand to ask about air conditioning and were told they did not offer AC. Our first night was very hot, and after complaining a few times, we requested an additional fan. The next morning, we were able to upgrade for an additional fee to a room with AC, which they do have in some rooms, and we were very happy with the upgrade. I believe there may have been a language barrier, so if AC is important to you, I recommend being very clear when booking and confirming that your specific room has air conditioning.

It was a ideal stay for us. We loved the room and the friendly personel. They accommodated our needs in a great way and they also made the breakfast enjoyable and quickly helped with gluten free good bread. If we come back to Rothenburg we will choose this hotel again.
