This hotel is run like a bed and breakfast. Check in is at 4 pm and you cannot check in sooner but you can at least park your car and leave your bags at the hotel if you arrive earlier. Breakfast is lovely with beautiful views and wonderful selection. Parking is very close to hotel but difficult to find with google maps/Waze/GPS. Best to drive up to hotel entrance and they will point you in the right direction and allow you to leave your bags in their bag room.

I absolutely recommend Goldener Hirsch for your stay in Rothenburg ob der Tauber. The parking alone is a huge bonus in a town with narrow roads and limited space. The parking is just up the road, 3 min walk, and (at the time of this review) is 11€. Worth it! The rooms are nice and comfortable, and fairly large for a European hotel. There is no A/C, and they have bats at night, so you can’t leave the windows open to cool things off. There is a small fan in the room, which helped, and the bats would be an issue wherever you stay in town. There is a great breakfast buffet in the morning. The hotel also has many lovely sitting areas, a game room with a pool table, and an elevator.

Nice hotel. We had an issue which they cleared up quickly. Breakfast was wonderful. There is a games room with pool and air hockey tables for free. Large sitting room upstairs where groups could sit and talk comfortably. Excellent location. Would stay again!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. We are a family of 4 and had a little section of the hotel, with 2 rooms and a corridor. We weren't expecting so much space. The view out of our room was over looking through valley and along the town walls. There was a large games room, where we played pool and air hockey. The breakfast was included and delicious! The staff were really helpful and lent us phone chargers, as we had lost our luggage at the airport. The hotel was right in the centre of town and parking was easy. Really loved our stay here.

Very nice hotel, friendly staff. We had a room with great view on the valley. Parking across the street is a big plus as well. Breakfast is good. The whole atmosphere of the hotel fits really well with the Medieval character of Rothenburg itself.

lovely old hotel right on the edge of the cliff and near the iconic Plonlein building seen in many photos. Room large, nicely decorated. Bathroom good size with a tub. Did not have safe, did have a fan. Parking available which was great. Had a couple of lounge areas for people on the ground floor and a much bigger gathering area on the 1st floor. Breakfast was very good, lots of choice and the view spectacular. I loved that it was in old town.

Gammelt hyggeligt hotel lige midt i den gamle bydel - perfekt lokation. Værelset var gammelt, dog har det gennemgået en lettere renovering. Det var rent, men lugtede gammelt, formentlig pga gulvtæpperne. God morgenmad, ikke noget ud over det sædvanlige. Men mange gæster og for lidt personale til at fylde op, så der var ventetid på bl.a. yoghurt, røræg, brød mv. Hyggeligt morgenmadsrum/ restaurant med udsigt til de grønne områder udenfor bymurene. God service i receptionen.

Our room had dirty sheets. They moved us to a new room, however, the second room had some minor cleanliness issues also. Included breakfast buffet and history of hotel was nice. Hotel staff were friendly, but we were very dissatisfied with the cleanliness.

Room 213 was infested with bed bugs which I have a very strong reaction to, so the rest of my trip, to Nuremburg and Munich was spent in severe pain and itching, with over 50 bites on my neck and arms and feet. We called the front desk manager, and she did change our sheets, but did not offer to change us to a different room. There was a strong smell of mint when we first entered the room, which I later found out is used to repel bedbugs, so my thinking is they knew of the infestation but booked us anyway. Never agian.

The service was extremely terrible. The receptionist refused to make a phone call to the restaurant rudely as per my request. Hair was found in the bathtub. The bathroom was too small, not enough to accommodate the water basin.

We had a wonderful two-night stay at Hotel Goldener Hirsch. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Our room was clean and well appointed, and we all found the beds comfortable. We loved the common areas on the first and second floors-nice places to sit and read while waiting for other members of our party. Breakfast was lovely. The hotel offered a nice selection of foods in what I would call traditional German style. Lastly, the location of the hotel makes it easy to walk to the center of town, the kriminalsmuseum and other key areas. Overall, this was a great place to stay and we would definitely return if coming to Rothenberg in the future.

We zijn hier verbleven met ons gezin inclusief baby van 8 maande, alles was oke tot we wakker werden en onder de plekken zaten en bloed overal. Bed zat vol met bedwansen. Gemeld bij de receptie maar ondanks fotobewijs werd er heel sceptisch op gereageerd. Nooit meer weer vies en onhygiënisch hotel...

Quaint and comfortable accommodations in the historic center of town. Our room was very large and more than adequate for three adults and a teen. Nice breakfast with an incredible view. Reasonable 15 minute walk to the train station.

The hotel is extremely beautiful with a nice view to the valley and right in the center of the old town. The hotel team is very kind. Rooms are comfortable, beautiful and make you feel you're in a movie. Breakfast is very delicous too with fresh food. I stayed there with my wife for out 15th anniversary and they even decorated the room romatically - depite me requesting it last minute. I really appreciated that.

They treated us as “untouchables” because I was in a wheelchair. They wouldn’t speak to us, even when they walked by. I’d contacted them telling them I was in a mobility scooter. They wouldn’t even listen when we tried to say we couldn’t go up the 5 stairs to get to the only elevator to get to the “disabled” room. The elevator lets out where there is 5 more stairs UP to get to the room. No bell boy helped us. My husband had to carry it up. Do not go there.

Perfect location with best view outside front door. I’m even though inside old city, there was parking for rental car. Staff was excellent accommodating our check-in and request for a corner room. Excellent breakfast and beautiful lobby to relax.

Den Aufenthalt im Hotel Goldener Hirsch war wieder excellent. Der Empfang wart sehr herzlich und meine Fragen wurden kompetent beantwortet. Sogar meine Insulinspritze durfte ich im Kühlschrank des Hotels lagern damit diese nicht kaputt ging. Das Frühstücksbuffet ist der Hammer, es bietet eine grosse Auswahl. Ein reservierter Parkplatz bietet das Hotel ebenfalls an, was in Rothenburg sehr angenehm ist. Es war einfach schön bis zum Auschecken, was auch sehr freundlichüber die Bühne ging. Das Personal war ganz allgemein einfach freundlich, fröhlich und sehr zuvorkommend. Ich werde dieses Hotel bei einem nächsten Besuch sehr gerne wieder buchen. Ein ganz herzliches Dankeschön an den Goldenen Hirschen.

A very bad experience with this hote. The hotel staff said can arrange early check in at 1pm (usually 3pm) but did not mention the extra costs of €25 until at the time of check out. It was unreasonable as we stored our luggage without the need to early check in at all. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone!

I’ve seen many postcard images of Rothenburg, and now I can say I stayed in a hotel in many of the pictures. We arrived late and the hotel manager was incredibly helpful. She walked me out to the parking area and walked us around the hotel. Breakfast in the morning was great.

It is a nice hotel with lots of history. However, it lacks sufficient staff so twice during one day we could not find anyone at the reception and waited for long times. If you try to checkin after 9:30 pm, you will be screwed.

We stayed here in Dec during Christmas market. It is an older hotel, but it is expected given the location in a medieval town. It is central to almost everything. The famous Plolein corner is right outside the hotel. Breakfast is good. Internet connection is also good. The slight draw back is the 14 min walk back to the train station, which is slightly uphill.

Als Touristenhotel bestimmt nett, wenn man die Stadt sehen möchte. Als Übernachtung für eine Geschäftsreise nicht zu empfehlen. Sehr kleines Bad, schmale 80er Matratzen. Unter dem Dach im Sommer kaum auszuhalten. Kaffeeautomat beim Frühstück außer Betrieb, Kaffeekannen auch leer.
