So as Marriott properties go, this one is spectactular. The beds were comfortable--great bathrooms, FREE washer dryer (so great at the end of the day to dry the bathing suits) and free water bottles and water filling stations everywhere. You also have access to the Mauna Kea (next hotel up the beach) where the food is better (and more expensive) and there's a different beach for a change of scenery. We rarely visit a place twice, but Hapuna Beach is pretty close to perfect.

Amazing stay. Everything was outstanding! Pools were amazing. Loved the adult infinity pool, family pool was huge so not crowded, tons of chairs. Good food options, although pricey. We definitely splurged on this stay but it did not disappoint!

My family and I enjoyed our stay. The gym was great, especially for my husband who is a heavy lifter. The Pico coffee bar was convenient for less expensive packaged quick food. Pool bar/food was great. Salads huge and easily split. The beach is lovely and big. The downside is the hotel is huge, lots of walking and stairs. Could be problematic for older folks or families with kids hauling floats, toys etc. There are elevators but still a lot of walking. Of course room location determines how far you walk so request a room closer to elevators.

We spent four days at the Westin Hapuna Beach Resort during the last week of June and LOVED every minute of it! This property is pristine and peaceful, with numerous spots to relax and view the ocean. Every member of the staff that we interacted with was friendly and welcoming, from the valet to check-in to housekeeping. On our first morning there, we went to the breakfast buffet, which is BOUNTIFUL and DELICIOUS! When our server found out that it was our 20th wedding anniversary, she brought us complimentary guava mimosas and a huge serving of bananas foster. It was very sweet! And, although we enjoyed the restaurant meals, we found that the little "grab and go" market provided quality hot breakfast items (which was great for the day we left for a tour at 6:30am) as well as tasty sandwiches and salads for light dinners or quick lunches (and it is inexpensive). The coffee bar was a convenient necessity as well. For beach and pool time, we found that the umbrellas, beach chairs and towels were plentiful; we never went without The ocean here is pretty and nice to swim in, but if you want to experience a truly GORGEOUS beach with crystal clear water, go to the beach at Mauna Kea. You can hike the one-mile trail along the shoreline (which we did) OR take the complimentary hotel shuttle (it runs every half hour). It's heaven! I stayed in the ocean there all day and never wanted to leave... We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hapuna Beach resort. It was well worth the expense!

Everything was clean and service was prompt. The pools and the clean beach were within easy walking distance. Although the waves were big, our tweens liked that. We were concerned that the water might not be warm enough late November, but the ocean temperature was fine and pools were even warmer. Food was also great and they had a continuous shuttle over to Mauna Kea restaurants for additional spectacular dinner.

The beach, pools, and views are top notch. I wish there were more beach chairs with umbrellas. I had to reserve my chair early each day (around 7 AM) or else I would lose out. Customer service and employee attitudes could be improved and more welcoming (especially at Piko Coffee Bar. The food situation was dire, as it was very limited. I did not like driving to Waikoloa area each night to get food. The main and most important reason I am giving an average rating is that I had an ant invasion in my room on the sixth night (and a one cockroach on last morning). I know it is Hawaii and the tropic climate is conducive to bugs. However, I have stayed at many Hawaii resorts before and never had any issue with bugs/ants. Pest control should be a top priority. It is worth noting that I had almost no food in my room the whole time (specifically to not attract any bugs, as I read previous reviews of people who stayed there and had bugs in their room). While there was an attempt by my management to make up for the issue, it was not enough for having to move rooms and the experience. Random room service items were brought to me (of which I didn’t touch). I would have preferred money taken off my bill rather than chips, chocolates, and beer being brought to me. Ultimately, I don’t think I would stay here again. For the price I p, I should have had a flawless and stress-free experience. Also, consider adding more lights at night around the outside of the property (pools).

Had vegan options! All restrooms were very clean including at beach and pool. Great bed. Very quiet and easy to sleep even if you are jet lagged on a different time zone. Breakfast served early enough to eat before excursions.

The Westin Hapuna beach was a beautiful clean property with great customer service. There were so many great staff throughout the resort I regret not getting more names. However, Donna at the Meridia restaurant was so welcoming and friendly on our first night. She gave us great suggestions for things to do and even offered to take our picture. Donna helped set the tone for the rest of our trip!
The Westin Hapuna beach was a beautiful clean property with great customer service. There were so many great staff throughout the resort I regret not getting more names. The property is beautiful. The views are fantastic. Food is delicious. There are water stations throughout the property which is convenient, so bring your water bottles to fill up. Pools are clean. Room is cleaned everyday. Service is great every where you go on the property. My complaints, the towels are rough....it would be nice if they were softer. The bed wasn't as comfortable as it looked....it was sunked in on each side.

We loved our stay at The Westin Hapuna Beach. The staff were friendly and welcoming and ready to assist however they could. The rooms and other facilities were clean and updated. We enjoyed the restaurants and food available to us. The only complaint would be between the cost of food and the variety of food. Piko was a very helpful option to keep cost down but each restaurants food options were very similar and that got boring.

If you are visiting the Big Island, look no further than the western on Hapuna Beach! This resort is beaming with luxury, but also offers a beachy vibe and many spaces to escape to on the property. The food at Meridia is absolutely incredible and it is the best restaurant on the island as far as food and views! The bed in the room is like sleeping on a cloud, And the bathrooms are exquisite, equipped with dual sinks, a bathtub and a glass walk-in shower. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and received a complementary bottle of champagne and a room upgrade, courtesy of our personal concierge at the hotel, Megan! From the moment we walked in, we felt the aloha spirit! Get down to the adult pool no later than 9 AM or else people will hold their chairs and leave for the afternoon. We spent time on the ocean, and the adult pool, ate at all of the restaurants and sat at the Pika open-air bar for after-pool/beach drinks and just watched the ocean. We took the free shuttle to the sister resort, Mauna Kea, ate at the incredible Copper Bar and Hau Tree on the ocean. Manta restaurant looks pretty, but has no view like the others. We went to completely unplugged for six nights, so we did not rent a car, and still had plenty to do at the resort, never missing a drop of its beauty. This will be our permanent go to resort on the big island! Mahalo!!!

Great hotel on a beautiful beach. The staff is incredibly helpful and friendly all around. Breakfast buffet is great, as was dinner at the Meridia restaurant. Things can get pricey for food and drinks, but to be expected. The rooms can use a little refreshing.

This property is on the best beach on the Big Island. We were a little disappointed that our favorite building has been converted to condominiums. Our room was ocean view but a little worn out and too close to the new and very noisy adult pool.

The room was clean and very modern. The patio was perfect with a view of the beach and a comfortable lounger. In general the staff was great but the pool staff wouldn't clean up abandoned pool lounge chairs so there would be unoccupied loungers with dirty towels all over the place.

Upon arrival the lobby's views were breath taking. Guests are greeted at the desk with refreshments, hand towel and a fresh lei. We stayed in a 1 King Bed, Lanai, Resort View room. The room had a partial ocean view. The lanai was very spacious. The property and beach was very relaxing, and quiet. Perfect for couples, or a solo trip.

We have been to the other Hawaiin Islands on previous trips but this was our first trip to the Big Island. We stayed at the Westin Hapuna Beach Resort We had a premier ocean view room which looked directly out over the beach. It was lovely. Beautiful resort with gorgeous landscaping Our room was very nicely appointed and clean. The service from everyone was excellent. Very friendly and accomodating. The food was better than we expected based on other reviews we read. In fact it was quite good. No complaints. The food is expensive as is the resort overall but not out of line when compared to other establishments on the Island.

Beautiful lobby. Nice employees. Very expensive, it's Hawai'i of course. But everything adds up so I don't understand why they charge $35 a night for a car rental to be parked there & they have no other things around for uber. Kind of felt slime ball-ish/sleazy to charge to park after we already pay so much for everything else. And a lot of extra "taxes". And all the grab & go employees expect a tip when we literally grabbed our own food and took it to the register. But otherwise a very nice place. Would not recommend staying longer than 4/5 days. We stayed 10 nights and it was too many.

The room was clean and very modern. The patio was perfect with a view of the beach and a comfortable lounger. In general the staff was great but the pool staff wouldn't clean up abandoned pool lounge chairs so there would be unoccupied loungers with dirty towels all over the place.

The overall experience was very good, we had profanity from the employees at the beach and poor service from the pool restaurant servers, the location is very good we have been there many times before, the younger generation just doesn’t have the professionalism that the resort deserves

We were at the Westin Hapuna Bech for our 50th anniversary. The staff was incredibly accommodating and kind. I had hurt my foot before the trip and they lent us a wheelchair to get to the pool area and restaurant. They also moved us to an ADA room closer to the elevator when one became available the second day. Our seven night stay was fun and we highly recommend this hotel.

We spent four days at the Westin Hapuna Beach Resort during the last week of June and LOVED every minute of it! This property is pristine and peaceful, with numerous spots to relax and view the ocean. Every member of the staff that we interacted with was friendly and welcoming, from the valet to check-in to housekeeping. On our first morning there, we went to the breakfast buffet, which is BOUNTIFUL and DELICIOUS! When our server found out that it was our 20th wedding anniversary, she brought us complimentary guava mimosas and a huge serving of bananas foster. It was very sweet! And, although we enjoyed the restaurant meals, we found that the little "grab and go" market provided quality hot breakfast items (which was great for the day we left for a tour at 6:30am) as well as tasty sandwiches and salads for light dinners or quick lunches (and it is inexpensive). For beach and pool time, we found that the umbrellas, beach chairs and towels were plentiful; we never went without The ocean here is pretty and nice to swim in, but if you want to experience a truly GORGEOUS beach with crystal clear water, go to the beach at Mauna Kea. You can hike the one-mile trail along the shoreline (which we did) OR take the complimentary hotel shuttle (it runs every half hour). It's heaven! Had a great experience overall. The beachfront location is its best feature. Hapuna beach is the best beach on that island. Aside from that it’s a bit isolated from everything else. Service was good, friendly and helpful staff. We were very happy with our room, premium oceanfront which they upgraded us to since it was our anniversary, with a complementary champagne bottle. Sunset views are amazing, which we enjoyed from our room, the infinity pool, or the beach, it made for a very relaxing stay. Loved the on-site cafe also, the poolside restaurant was sub-par, good only for drinks really, but their dinner restaurant was nice.

We had an ocean view King and it was terrific. You should know this property is way off by itself, located on the best sandy beach on the Big Island. If you don't have a car, getting into town or to other attractions won't be easy, there isn't much Lyft or Uber especially at night. But there is plenty to do at the resort, wide sandy beach, snorkeling and paddle boards, pools, restaurants, golf, hikes. There is a sister resort you can shuttle to for dinners, if you want to try their offerings (meh). But if you want to dine off property or sight see, just know there will be driving. We had a car and made a few excursions off property and were glad we did. There is one high end restaurant (Meridia: good food/terrace seating/sterile chilly indoor bar), and a restaurant that only serves a big breakfast buffet, and a poolside restaurant/bar with perfectly fine options, and one nice bar (Piko) on the 7th floor with great staff, and some food items. There are also plentiful grab-go options here: not buffet fans, we grabbed fresh pineapple, papaya, granola, bagels for breakfast. But even so, between parking fee, resort fee, two dinners and two lunches on site, plus a few drinks, we ran up an extra $1600 in just five days - worth it, but ouch. So, not the best place for those on a budget, but really gorgeous, friendly people, stunning setting, nice big rooms, and fun touches like welcome lei on arrival, refillable water canteens, beach bags. No complaints from us.

You can enjoy the amenities at both this property and its sister property Mauna Kea. The only downside of this property was the food. Breakfast and coffee options are great, but lunch and dinner restaurants are bland, poorly executed, and expensive. Overall, I would recommend and plan to go back.
