Quinta da Casa Branca - Small Luxury Hotels of the World

Our third visit to this hotel. The hotel is located within fabulous gardens and is simply wonderful. With the old manor house, the Italian pool, the banana plantation and so many different species of plants and trees, the hotel itself is a holiday. It was lovely to see that breakfast in the Garden Pavilion had started again after covid, it is always a perfect way to start the day, wide choice and excellent service, and an al fresco breakfast in January overlooking the gardens is a real treat, compared to Atlantic gales in Cornwall. There is also a sizable enclosed by the garden outside swimming pool. All the staff at the hotel are all excellent. They are friendly, attentive and tried their utmost to make our stay as perfect as possible. We were particularly pleased to see many familiar faces from previous stays, a true sign of a good hotel. We have stayed in two types of their bedrooms and both offer good size, facilities and quality accommodation. We have not yet stretched to a stay in the manor house suites, but they look impressive. We had a few days were we relaxed, late long breakfast, reading books, walking the gardens, etc and the rest of the time we spent in Funchal town and along the coast. Funchal is walking distance from the hotel (25 mins) and we did not submit and get a bus or taxi back up the steep drag from the town. The last hill is challenging on the way back but you can get a bus!

The standout point of this hotel are the extensive wonderful semi-tropical gardens. The hotel is comprised of various distinct buildings dotted around, giving a feel more of staying in a country estate. The service is second to none, and staff are efficient and attentive. The one downside is the spa and gym. Use of spa/sauna etc is by pre-booking in a short time-slot. So pretty well impossible to take a spontaneous sauna etc after using the onsite gym.

Hat neben sehr Kompetentem und freundlichem Personal eine Wunderschöne gepflegte Gartenanlage, saubere Pools, einen hervorragenden Wellnessbereich mit Fitnessstudio. Zudem ist das essen ein Traum, perfekt abgestimmt in jedem kleinsten Detail. Ich freue mich in Zukunft wieder zu kommen.

Kleineres Hotel inmitten eines schönen Parks mit unzähligen Pflanzen und Bäumen. Ausgezeichneter Service, freundliches Personal, kleiner SPA Bereich, 2 beheizte Aussenpool, ideal zum entspannen. Zimmer mit Blick auf den Park (müssten wieder mal renoviert werden)

Excellent accueil, propreté, nourriture. Tres joli parc au calme …. Petit bémol, Le SPA mériterait d’être plus, avec une vue extérieure sinon c’est parfait

Ett härligt boende i en underbar park. Allt var bra men framför allt trädgården, frukosten och personalen. Sängarna var sköna i vårt trädgårdsrum och vi hade en egen liten terass med solsängar där vi kunde njuta av blommor, fåglar och fjärilar. Frukosten var läcker och serverades i den vackra trädgården. Poolen , det fanns två, var härlig. Atmosfären var underbar och man kände sig verkligen som en uppskattad gäst. Vi kommer mer än gärna tillbaka.

Die Unterkunft ist wunderschön in einem Botanischen Garten gelegen. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Das Housekeeping ist manchmal etwas vergesslich. Eine sehr gute Empfehlung für stadtnahes und sehr individuelles Wohnen.

Great grounds, breakfast, and service. Rooms and bathrooms are functional, well equipped, but old and dated.

Absolutely stunning - one of the most beautiful hotels I've been to. The gardens are amazing and our room was incredibly comfortable and welo equipped.

I loved the fact that this property was in a very quiet neighborhood, yet a very short and pleasant walk to dining, shopping and sightseeing options downtown. The level of attentiveness and service from the staff is outstanding and breakfast is fantastic. This property exceeded all of my expectations and I would stay here again if I visit the Madeira Islands in the future.

I was deeply impressed by my stay at Quinta da Casa Branca. The elegance of the setting, the quiet refinement, and the genuine warmth of the staff made my time there truly memorable. The entire team works with grace, precision, and heartfelt attention — a rare combination. Their presence is discreet, yet the result is unmistakable: everything flows effortlessly, yet nothing is accidental. I can only recommend this hotel — sincerely, and without reservation.

I travel a lot and quite frankly this was the best hotel I have ever stayed in by far. The gardens are gorgeous, the food is superb and the staff are excellent.

The staff were absolutely outstanding. Beautiful grounds and the food in the silver service restaurant was by far the best of anywhere we ate on the island. Can't recommend highly enough.

Just the most amazing place to stay. Stunning setting, beautiful gardens, lovely rooms, wonderful spa, great staff. I have several food allergies and I was really well looked after at breakfast and in the restaurant.

If you want to stay in Funchal and want more than another soleless hotel, this place is a hidden oasis of calm and stunnkng tropical gardens hidden from the outside world. Everything about this hotel is so well done. Not all hotels are the same.
