Wingate by Wyndham St Louis-Fenton Route 66

The hotel is located on a dark one way street, which wouldn't be a problem if their sign was working. But since it wasn't working, i had already passed the property twice before I realized it was my hotel. Due to the route that had to be taken to go back around, I spent more time driving around and around trying to find tge hitel.

This hotel has seen better days. First impressions when we drove up to check in was landscape consisting mostly of weeds. Check in was good and counter person friendly and efficient. Rooms smelled. Hallways dirty. Breakfast area small and understaffed as well as under stocked. Needs updated and a thorough cleaning.

This was the second time staying here. It’s a good place for a night or two. The staff was extremely friendly. The room very clean. The pool was a little green but to be fair with excessive heat it’s hard to keep up sooo…

Dirty underwear in the room trash in the room,liquor bottles in the room,tv did not work, light did not work, ice machines were not working. The motel took my money before I arrived at the hotel despite me having chosen the pay at property option.The manager did not attempt to resolve any of these problems after I notified the front desk. I will never stay at this property again.Hotels.com not responding to the problems after spending time on the phone with them.The property lying to me saying that they do I’d not take the money out of my account.

Truck parking and easy to access

Old dated hotel. Non-smoking hotel & everywhere smells of smoke. Room vents blow old smoke air into room. 1/3 roll of toilet paper. Broken lamps, stained drapes & carpet etc. Pool so flithy dirty noone will go inside the unkept area. Definitely sketchy place & we made a BIG MISTAKE chosing Wingate Inn on our 3rd night of our room trip. We'll never stay here again. Expedia will definitely be contacted for unconfirmed reviews.

Not as advertised. There was only an outdoor pool that was not in working order and was full of debris. Everyday between 9-3ish there is an overwhelming smell of marijuana that comes through the air conditioning into the room and the smell is strongest in the first floor hallway, especially when the house keepers are there. The breakfast is the same every day, runny powdered eggs, and sausage links.

We booked an extended stay. The TV reception was poor. The shower was not operating properly and the water temperature went up and down. The rooms need updating. The pool was filthy. The room smelled like smoke. The mini fridge was hard to get to. No laundry facilities.

Nice hotel, but in an odd, hard to get to area. It was quiet. We checked in but the desk person, Bradley, just had his computer go down and couldn’t make our room keys! But he stuck with it and eventually got them made. He didn’t lose his cool and just kept at it until he got us our keys. He was VERY pleasant about the whole thing and handled it very well. The hotel was very nice, tho the ice machines were not working at all that night and the following morning when we checked out. Bradley should get a promotion!

I will never stay here again! This place has gone down hill since my last stay here. it took 8 hours for A/C to drop 5 degrees to a comfortable temperature. The maintenance man is a joke the filter grill is covered with dirt (not cleaned for a while) filter 75% plugged with dirt. didn't turn on light to even toe see or even take filter out to visually inspect. stains on bedding, (should have been thrown away) had them replaced. Unfortunately, this place has turned into an extended stay motel. New management has gotten lax on important customer issues.

The room was smelling bad, and dusty. We spent three nights and have not enjoyed single bit. St. Louis is a great city but this hotel does not deserve this name/brand. Highly disappointed.

Our bathroom floor was soaking wet from shower head drip into a plugged tub. While toweling it down, I noticed how filthy the toilet bowl was with mold, etc. There was also particles under bedside. I do see any reason for this sloppy and gross housekeeping and certainly would not stay there again or recommend.

Rooms need attention. Recommend a dehumidifier in rooms as they are DAMP! Mold on ceiling in bathrooms, dust everywhere, floors not vacuumed, carts left in the middle of the hall, dirty laundry or trash left for whole days.

My room was not even clean when I arrived. Dirty towels all over the room and the bed still not made up from the last person. Trash still in the cans. the entrance smells of smoke. They gave me another room but it still is not the cleanest. But luckily I’m only here for a night. And there is used soap on the room. I hate being mean but this is not good.

Shower, toilet not clean.

Mildew on shower curtain. Only 1 washcloth. Hair on wall of tub/shower. Some trash on the floor. Difficult to use the TV, no instructions. Bed was very comfortable. Staff was helpful but all problems were not reported to them. Air conditioning was great.

The water temp would fluctuate from cool to scalding hot (at one point I had to jump out mid shower cause it suddenly went hotter than hades). For a Wyndham hotel, it was VERY disappointing. Stains on the bed covers. It really needs updated and a very thorough cleaning.

I have never had a bad hotel experience until this one. On the way to our room, we noticed that the hallways and elevators were filthy. Upon entering our room, the first thing we noticed was a Walmart bag tied around the smoke detector. Somebody obviously was smoking in the room and didn't want it to be detected. There was a bodily fluid with hair in it on the nightstand, feces in the toilet, and no shower curtain. I have photos. We went down to the front desk to get a different room and they said that they are sold out, but since there were a few parties that had a reservation and not shown up yet, she gave us a different room on the same floor. There were dirty towels outside that door and when we open the door the light was on and there were no sheets on the beds, no towels, and the room had not been cleaned yet from the previous guests. There was another family right across the hall from us who walked into the same situation. We went back down to the desk and told them the room was dirty and they said we could go ahead and check out. She checked us out and took my name and number and told me that a manager would call me the next day. A manager did not call me and we were charged for the room on my credit card. It is now 4 Days later and I have called the hotel one to two times a day for the past 4 days. Brad answers the phone and he will not give me the manager's name nor phone number and told me that he will not give me a refund. He hung up on me twice.

Just a couple of things, the elevator carpet was very dirty, and the elevator in general needs a GOOD cleaning. Our room smelled like smoke, bought some febreeze, and made it better but our clothes in our suitcase smells like smoke. Some fresh paint and some upkeep on the lawn and pool then it would be great. The staff was real nice.

The whole property stinks like stale cigarette smoke. The stay was honestly awful, and I wouldn’t even entertain the idea of coming back. Switched rooms and was assured it wouldn’t smell, it smelled worse. I was there to spend time with my kids whom I haven’t seen in 2 1/2 years, and this place definitely put a damper on my visit.

Ice maker didn’t work very well. $35 to check in early is ridiculous! Refrigerator didn’t work. No ice bucket in room. No shampoo. We will not book at a Wyndham again.

We were assigned to a room that had a strong odor of smoking. We complained and were given another room with no odor. However, the refrigerator was not working. The desk clerk came and swapped out the refrigerator for another one in our original room. But, the next morning, we found that was also not keeping things cool, so we had to throw out some of our things.

The carpet was damp/sticky. Twice people in the hallway tried to get in our room. Called the front desk. She said she’d check it out and call us back. She never did. The landscaping hasn’t been done in years it looks like. Pillows were nice.

Shower didn’t work properly. TV didn’t work and the front desk didn’t know how to fix it. The maintenance guy wasn’t available until 10 pm!

Room was absolutely spotless, definitely one of the cleanest I've ever seen. Staff was very polite. Bed wasn't super comfortable, but not a brick either. Other people mentioned the small bathrooms, and they are indeed a bit cramped, especially height-wise. Water pressure was quite low. Breakfast was barely not continental; all they had beyond it was a slow and not-quite-crisping waffle maker. Hotel was fine for 2-3 nights, but I wouldn't want to stay a week.

The hotel over all was very nice clean and comfortable. It was the perfect location for our visit. Close to where we needed to go It’s only draw back is the bathrooms are very small

We was not able to stay. They canceled our room upon arrival, the second time, stating there was no clean rooms available. This was around 8 p.m. We had went a few hours earlier and tried to check in but a group ahead of me needed 17 rooms and was told they could get them 6. We had all made reservations. Lobby and breakfast area was dirty. I guess the cleaning crew just did not do their job. Hotels.com was kind enough to help us find another room and even gave us a discount for the trouble that was not even their fault. The girl checking customers in said she could possible get a room cleaned but did not know how long it would be. I said ok, I can wait and kill some time somewhere. She then firmly said "I can not give you a time frame. It may be hours". I heard her say multiple times "the previous ship must have dropped the ball. Maybe they did. I don't know. She was nice enough. She was not rude but I could tell she was tired of dealing with everyone. I assume multiple people had room issues. Again, considering all the people needing room and all the aggrevation, she still remained calm. Kudos to her BUT I will not book at Wyngate again

Morning attendant was kind and helpful. Kitchen/breakfast staff was friendly and helpful. Room hadn’t been vacuumed. Evening staff shamed us for using a third party to book the room. And gave us no assurance that the full room charge that had been charged to my card would be reversed when they received payment from hotels.com. Just said we had to work it out with the third party. Glad I’m not a worrier. Just went to sleep the best we could — mattresses were terrible, and addressed it in the morning.

Excellent staff

There were 2 front desk clerks(Arielle and Breana) that were rude, disrespectful and not helpful at all. Their attitudes towards guests were awful. The other two clerks (Becky and Joey)were fantastic. They answered all my questions and concerns. They both were very kind and helpful. The room had dirty clothes on the closet floor from previous guests. There was moldy food left in the refrigerator. The outside needs a lot of grooming and TLC. I will never stay here again and will not recommend this property.

I had the unfortunate situation where my truck broke down in the parking lot of the hotel the day I was supposed to leave. Noah, Breann and Cindy helped make my unexpected extended stay as comfortable and pleasant as possible.

Overall the staff were extremely helpful and welcoming. Except for the first night. A woman @Diamond” gave me a key to a dirty room. I complained and she reacted rudely and defensively. She then gave me another room…also dirty. I tried to stay calm but I was frustrated after driving 10 hours and being exhausted. She basically was rude from there on out. Reported her to the manager who was lively and the rest of the stay was pleasant.

The receptionist gave us the wrong room key, and we ended up walking in on another tenant. The bed linens were heavily wrinkled and the pillow looked like they were thrown on the bed. There was no hot food for breakfast. The hot water came and went in the shower.

We was on a family trip to six flags. The hotel we was supposed to stay at canceled us last minute. I booked at Wingate and we received a text from the front desk personel, not a robot. She stated our room was booked and asked if we needed anything. I let her know we was at six flags and would be arriving late. She said no problem you guys enjoy your day and have fun. How many hotels do that, it was a first for me. We got there later and she had everybody's reservation paperwork all lined up and was ready to check us in which took less than 5 minutes. We rewarded her with pizza. Outstanding

Easy access from/to the highway. Friendly and efficient check in

Good place to stay. Room was nice. Property is older but fine. Breakfast was OK. Property is near several restaurants and easy access to Interstate.

This was a nice hotel for the price. It's been around a while and recently changed brands and they did a nice job cleaning it up. It was comfortable and the room was clean and odour free. The exterior of the property could certainly use some work with regard to landscaping. Some restaurants are close by, but the area isn't particularly walkable. This was a business trip and I was able to work in the room without issue and it was conveniently located off the interstate.

This is always my stopping point when I need a rest around St. Louis. I’ve stayed here several times. Love the convenient location. Love having the Wallys across the street. Always clean, comfortable, and friendly.

Just needed a room for the night following a trip to Six Flags. Location was perfect. Clean and comfortable, friendly staff, decent (not fancy) breakfast, good water pressure in the shower. For the price, it was fabulous!

The price is fair. The breakfast is pretty bad. Got there at 6:30 am (they start serving at 6). Cereal but no milk, no bagels, stale bread for toast, and the last English muffin was taken by a guy who immediately walked over to the garbage can and threw it away. They had the usual rubbery scrambled eggs and soft bacon. Asked the employee who was in charge of the food for milk and a bagel or muffin. She responded rudely there were no more bagels or muffins, but eventually brought out a pitcher of milk. I can understand running out of items, but heck it had been only 30 minutes and there were few people eating at 6:30. The pool was empty and dirty, the grounds around the hotel are not kept up, there were cigarette butts littering the ground around the entry door to the elevator, and the smell of cigarette smoke was pretty strong. You get what you pay for. This place is fine for an overnight stay when you are on your way somewhere else. There is a Cracker Barrel a BBQ joint near by.

There was no breakfast the morning of our stay. We, and other guests, were told by the unapologetic man at the front desk, that the person responsible for setting it up did not come to work. He didn’t offer to set out the pre-made items like bread for toast or cereal and milk - he just remained behind the desk watching every guest be disappointed that there was only coffee available. The lights and television were left off and chairs were upside down on tables all morning. It felt like guests were not even welcome in the area. Terrible breakfast experience.

Desk staff were helpful. Our electronic room keys had to be redone 5 times over the two night stay. The morning breakfast options were very slim. The only gluten free option was dry cereal (all they had was Rice Krispies).

For a Wyndham I expect quality and consistency in the brand. Worst breatfast offerings ever. Watery "scrambled" eggs, cold sausage links, warmed syrup but nothing to put it on. Milk was frozen in cartons. Stale muffins and bread. Second day we ate out. Same person working front desk and stocking breakfast so many things were out

Fantastic visit the staff was more than accommodating. The breakfast was phenomenal, eggs, sausage biscuits, and gravy.

The check in person was very friendly and helpful. Room was a bit dirty (dusty furniture and floors). The bed was really comfortable. Breakfast was average at best and the host was late putting it out. We had to wait to get items, and even then the variety was pretty slim. She also did not seem happy or apologetic. Was an easy on/off from the interstate, and within walking distance of Cracker Barrel and other places. Gas station near by too.

Dirty washcloths and trash outside the room. Tub barely drained. Breakfast included curdled lumpy milk, broken pancake maker and limited options.

The breakfast was the worst. There was no food for the kids. No cereal, no oatmeal, there was a pancake maker but nothing to make pancakes. No waffles. The breakfast staff didn't provide any utensils we had to ask. She was more interested in making sure she ate herself.
