Nice hotel. Breakfast was good. Walkable neighborhood with dining options. Only downside was no air conditioning. However they do provide an oscillating fan and windows that open.

Like many, we stayed here for a night in September prior to riding the Bernina Express. Our room number 205 overlooked the courtyard and was spacious with a sitting area. The only awkward part is they chose to install a 3 panel folding glass door system over the bathtub edge to contain shower water. It’s clumsy compared to a curtain or a shorter fixed pane. The bathroom could use a shelf under the mirror for guests stuff. The room is very nice and the staff friendly. There is a small elevator so you don’t have to carry bags up stairs. The hotel is a short walk to the extensive pedestrian shopping area in the old part of town. We found an excellent bakery for lunch and an inexpensive restaurant for dinner out within ten minutes walk.

The room was terribly small and sffocating! I felt as if was put in prison cell for a serious crime😀 The guy at the reception couldn’t speak English so had to use google translate to communicate.EVEN WORSE THERE WAS NO CHARGING PORT CLOSE TO THE BED. ONLY ONE PORT IN THE WHOLE ROOM WHERE I HAD TO PLUG IN THE FAN. A TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!

Small rooms and even smaller bathroom. Even impossible to stretch my arms. In the shower I could stand only (no I'm not to big, just 85kg by 185cm). Parking was offered in the back yard, dificult when others parked there already. Breakfast still like during Corona. All prepacked and wrapped in plastic. WHY??? Sorry, but this is not a good hotel, not for this price.

Although the hotel is not air-conditioned, there was a fan. Please be aware that the single economy rooms are very basic. The breakfast was quite good and in a very nice room.

Parking is limited. The hotel could benefit from removing all the old carpet and replace with tile. I know the hotel is old, but I wasn’t prepared to walk up steps to get to room (due to luggage). The room was nice as well as the bathroom. It’s located in a quiet area within walking distance to shopping and restaurants.

Stilvolles, zentral gelegenes Hotel. In Spazierdistanz zur Altstadt und zum Bahnhof. Beim 'Umwelt' ein kleiner Abzug, da trotz Buchung als Einzelzimmer, 4 Froteetücher bereitlagen und wie ich 3 davon sorgfältig zur Seite legte, wurde am nächsten Tag noch ein fünftes in den Raum gelegt.

A lovely hotel in the heart of Chur’s old town. The staff are friendly, and the breakfast was generous and delicious - plenty of options, including meats, cheeses and smoked salmon, with lots of bread choices and local jams. Easy spot to walk around the old town from, which is definitely worth it, and not far from the train station. There was a slightly odd moment where I wanted a coffee and was told I couldn’t sit in the restaurant but to go to the lounge upstairs - this was fine if they needed the table but also there was no one in the lounge so I felt a little forgotten, but eventually a passing staff member took my order by chance. A bit more attention would have been appreciated here, but these things happen. I was upgraded for a small fee by the extremely friendly check in staff, and checked out by a kind woman who took an interest in my travel plans and wanted to chat. It’s an historic hotel, which is beautifully restored - but this does show in the style and fashion of the rooms. Overall, the hotel is very friendly, comfortable and well-located - and the breakfast is great!

My stay was exactly what I needed after a long train ride from Geneva. The receptionist was friendly and helpful, my room was exceptionally clean and orderly, and the hotel dinner was excellent! The location was perfect too!

The area is interesting. The staff was friendly but the room was terrible. As a family of four we were put in an old attic room with furniture from the 90s. Bathroom was clean but also had 1990s fixtures. The room was too hot and hilumid. Windows were small with no views. No art or decorations on the walls. Seemed like we were in a storage room for their old furniture.

Morena, the lady at the front desk is the best introduction to any check-in at a hotel and a wonderful ambassador for Chur! She was gracious and so helpful. Hotel is in a great location being in the entrance to the old town. We walked everywhere. The room the bathroom (shower) was a bit challenging being so tiny but we managed. Breakfast had a good selection. Bed and pillows were the best!!

Stayed here for a night after riding the Bernina Express from Tirano. The room was small and only had one outlet, but we were not planning to spend a lot of time in the room. Otherwise, I loved the look of the room along with the cleanliness and friendliness of the staff. It was a great experience staying in a hotel built over 300 years ago.

First time visitor not only to Chur, but Switzerland too. In advising the hotel many weeks in advance that we would be arriving shortly after midnight, we had to wait quite a while for the door to be answered and we felt to be a burden. In the morning, the crew was fantastic both at breakfast and at check-out. We had asked a few different times for a later check-out due to train departure timing and the late arrival. It was emphatically denied each time, which we found later was due to a tour company's early arrival. No air-conditioning on a 80 degree, made for sleeping a little uncomfortable. Hope the neighbors weren't offended by our leaving the window wide open to bring air into our 4th floor very warm room. Truly enjoyed the rest of the old town and those we encountered.

Morena, the lady at the front desk is the best introduction to any check-in at a hotel and a wonderful ambassador for Chur! She was gracious and so helpful. Hotel is in a great location being in the entrance to the old town. We walked everywhere. The room the bathroom (shower) was a bit challenging being so tiny but we managed. Breakfast had a good selection. Bed and pillows were the best!!

My stay was exactly what I needed after a long train ride from Geneva. The receptionist was friendly and helpful, my room was exceptionally clean and orderly, and the hotel dinner was excellent! The location was perfect too!

This is a wonderful historic property in the old town part of Chur. The location is convenient to the Banhof for people who are in town for tourism, such as for the Bernina Express. There is an adjacent Reformed Church that adds charm and context to the area. The rooms are quite serviceable to include bed and bath. The view outside my window was the mountains. There is a well rated restaurant onsite. Be sure to resrve early if you wish to partake. The clue is in the front page if their website. There are two buttons, one for dinner and one for rooms and in that order. The staff was professional and quite welcoming. I would say that the place is more adult oriented but that is not to suggest it comes across as not a good place for families or children. There is shopping nearby and a nice Italian restaurant around the corner. Plenty if museums and local history in walking distance. Easy access to the Banhof by cab, bus, or even walking if you are using it as home base. Well recommended.

A lovely hotel in the heart of Chur’s old town. The staff are friendly, and the breakfast was generous and delicious - plenty of options, including meats, cheeses and smoked salmon, with lots of bread choices and local jams. Easy spot to walk around the old town from, which is definitely worth it, and not far from the train station. There was a slightly odd moment where I wanted a coffee and was told I couldn’t sit in the restaurant but to go to the lounge upstairs - this was fine if they needed the table but also there was no one in the lounge so I felt a little forgotten, but eventually a passing staff member took my order by chance. A bit more attention would have been appreciated here, but these things happen. I was upgraded for a small fee by the extremely friendly check in staff, and checked out by a kind woman who took an interest in my travel plans and wanted to chat. It’s an historic hotel, which is beautifully restored - but this does show in the style and fashion of the rooms. Overall, the hotel is very friendly, comfortable and well-located - and the breakfast is great!

Small rooms and even smaller bathroom. Even impossible to stretch my arms. In the shower I could stand only (no I'm not to big, just 85kg by 185cm). Parking was offered in the back yard, dificult when others parked there already. Breakfast still like during Corona. All prepacked and wrapped in plastic. WHY??? Sorry, but this is not a good hotel, not for this price.

The beautiful historic Hotel Stern was phenomenal. The location was great. The staff was top notch and very accommodating. The restaurant was superb. The food was amazing the service was on point. It definitely lived up to its Michelin star. We will definitely return.

Unfortunately, it was not a great stay as we did not sleep. The hotel needs air conditioning; a fan was provided but this was so loud that it also prevented sleep. We were disappointed as this was special anniversary trip and the room was not cheap.
