Upon arrival I was very excited about this recently renovated property. In fact, I rated the checkin easy and fast. However, once the sun went down, the lights around the entire facility came on! BEAMING! They go around the entire lot, and I am pretty sure they are as bright as daylight. The blackout blinds do nothing to assist as they are set too far out from the wall, letting the light pollution in. Also the floors let every sound above you be heard. This is a more common occurrence in properties, but needed mentioning. The rooms were very clean and staff was delightful and accommodating. The breakfast was what expected, but get there early as they don’t seem to replenish the supply once it is depleted. There are a few restaurants within walking distance, and a new gas’s station/convenience store about to open at the end of the block. I personally would not stay here again exclusively due to the bright lights in the parking lot, but if that doesn’t bother you, everything else was great! Oh, and even though close to the freeway, our room was very quiet. No noise from outside the hotel was heard.

When I was checking in, their computers crashed. Took forever to get my room. Baseboards were pealing off in the room. Only 3 pillows for 2 people. Would have been nice to have 2 pillows per person. Continental breakfast was about what you’d expect. Not great, not bad. Nothing special. Pool area was nice, hot tub wasn’t very hot though. Gym was nice, good equipment, but very average for a hotel gym. Again, nothing special. Gym had 2 treadmills, both worked, 1 bicycle, 1 elliptical, dumbbells, weighted balls, cable machine with very limited attachments. Staff was okay, I’d say hi or good morning/night going to and from and they’d just nod or not say anything at all and ignore you. Always seemed to be talking on their cell phones too. Overall, it’s okay. You get what you pay for and there’s a reason it’s cheaper.

There's nothing to hate about this hotel. The common areas are very clean and are well taken care of. Pool and hot tub are decent. Patio area has it all including lots of seating, visual fireplace and a large TV, all of which is only accessible from the pool area. Gas grill for guest use is a wonderful touch! The breakfast is great, hard boiled eggs, fresh fruit, pancakes, waffles and chocolate waffles, hot eggs biscuits and gravy also. Coffee machine available 24/7 and has several options, 4 flavor pumps sit next to it. I've returned 2x now and planning a 3rd trip. Best budget hotel experience!

Our stay at the La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Des Moines West Clive was excellent. It was spotless, updated, and great customer service upon check-in and if we had any questions. The attendant (I think the manager) was very friendly. I would highly recommend staying here.

The whole main level reeked of weed, and the guests next door were incredibly noisy. Partying until almost midnight on a weeknight. The hotel was mostly empty, so it would have really helped if they had put an empty room or two between us and them. We could smell their weed in our room, and hear every word they spoke, through the adjoining door. Then they were up talking really loud at 7:30….

There wasn’t a single smiling face amongst the staff. They continually acted like they were inconvenienced and unhappy to be there, and that dramatically impacted our experience. The rooms were mediocre the pool and hot tub or mediocre. The breakfast was mediocre. The staff really ruined it for us.

The desk attendant took the time to walk my 92 year old Mother to our room and also carried her small bag while I parked the vehicle. It was much appreciated and my Mother was very grateful. Thanks for making her feel special and welcome! Cudos to the staff member. I hope she enjoys a long and fruitful life here! I am reminded of a verse from the Torah, "The stranger among you shall be as a Native, for once you were a stranger in the land of Egypt." Welcome to America--You have blessed our day!

What to like? Well, they had a room. Breakfast was good. What not to like? We can start with walking into my room. There was no power to the bathroom or entryway to the guest room. The living area seemed unaffected. I called to the front desk, the attendant said she would come up. That never happened. I finally gave up and fell asleep as I was tired from my travels that day. Woke up the next day, still no power. Went down to let my dog out, went to breakfast. Brought my dog with me to breakfast. As I was a solo traveler, I had no one to leave my dog with, and leaving her alone in my room was expressly forbidden by the hotel (and is kind of rude anyway). I got corrected by a very unfriendly member of the hotel staff that I could not have my dog in the service area and told I had to leave her in the dining room. When I told the gentleman I had no one to leave the dog with, he simply said “well there’s a sign” and walked away. Didn’t offer to hold my dog while I grabbed my food. Didn’t offer to do anything to accommodate me. Just told me to remove my dog from the breakfast area. My plans only included a one night stay, but if I had planned to stay longer, I would have canceled the remainder of my stay and booked elsewhere. Do not recommend this place.

This hotel was the halfway point overnight stop on our long drive from Denver to Cleveland. Check in was easy; parking was very accessible; the complimentary breakfast and the pet-friendly options were a huge plus for us. Our room was right next to the elevator which made it easier for my spouse who lives with a disability. The beds were comfortable and the staff was very helpful. Easy access to the interstate and there are two gas stations and some restaurants very close by. We would stay here again and recommend it to other travelers.

I felt like the exterior of the building was very deceitful. As well as the photographs when booking online. The room had a terrible odor, and upon reading the reviews I felt like those were pretty inaccurate. The breakfast options or nothing spectacular. Whereas everybody raved about how great the breakfast options were. It was options of cold cereal, a packet of oatmeal, toast, bagels, and a variety of little Debbie snacks. Also, the cleanliness of the room was less than mediocre and is in need of some dire upgrades.
