Rodeway Inn Mount Vernon, IL

Site has had interior updates recently but not building exterior or parking lot. Metal pans of concrete stairs have rusted out and Trex wood steps installed over. Not all steps were structurally sound. Some stairways were blocked off but I’m sure the egress maps haven’t been updated. Ask for a ground floor room!

Parking lot dirty and unkempt around motel. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I liked being able to park at my door for unloading.

Parking was easy and there was plenty of parking. The pillows were not very comfortable. They do allow dogs and do not charge for them.

We have stayed at the property several times with our 2 dogs.. always clean rooms, grassy field nearby to walk the dogs, good dining options within walking distance .. but place has ongoing work on the rooms so construction materials laying around area and storage containers for the extra material looks worse every time we stop. But overall we would still recommend the motel and think it is probably in too 10% of Motel 6’s after years and years of cross country travel with dogs.

Its a Motel 6, but it was just what we needed with no extras. Our dog came with us too. The room was clean. Parking was plentiful, big lot for our rig. Staff was responsive.

Its an OLD Motel Six , looks run down. Not easy to get to, have to drive thru another hotels parking lot to get to it . Look for the big 6 sign. Turned on the heater/AC and got a musty smell. The paint on bathroom ceiling was peeling. Tried calling front desk, no one answered, so sprayed some Febreze into A/C. The parking lot had a lot of garbage blowing around.

Property is very run down. Drive to property was behind another hotel on a driveway full of potholes. Dirty garbage strewn exterior. Grass uncut, exterior trim missing on a large portion. Interior was just ok. Bathroom was recently remodeled. Seemed fairly clean but would not stay here again

The staff was friendly and the room was great. Good pressure in the shower. The A/C was quiet and cool. Easy access and near all the places I needed to go. The surrounding area was a little rundown and the parking lot had potholes.

Hotel under repair/remodeling. Contractors messy, blowing sand, dust, and debris all round parking on vehicles and inside rooms. Big gaps in room door entryway. No stopper in shower for taking bath. Shower floor inside tub slippery not safe and handicap/accessible. Parking lot did not feel safe. Was given double beds but reserved queens. Credit card after being told it was only to hold the room. Excepted and agreed on paying cash upon arrival. Took several days to receive deposit.

They gave us a second floor room that was a smoking room that smelled horrible even for a smoker. The stairs leading up to the second floor should be condemned. They are falling apart, and we had to skip steps so we wouldn’t fall through. When I told this to the owner of the hotel and told her we wouldn’t be staying there due to the comeliness in the shape of the property She just offered us a different room that was non-smoking. I explain to her that the stairs were unsafe and should be blocked off so nobody should be going up those before someone got hurt. This is an awful hotel.

Room was clean and quiet. Good price for the stay.

The entire hotel was in a state of disrepair. The room was dirty and the bedding looked soiled. There were exposed electrical wires in the room and the entire room had a horrible smell of decay. There was a barking German Shepard left alone in the room next door. I immediately returned to the lobby and asked the clerk to refund the cost of my reservation. He went to the room and checked it out himself and returned agreeing to refund the cost of the stay. This charge has not been reversed on my credit card. I feel that the clerk lied to me about refunding my money. I intend to contest the charge on my Visa.

Absolutely disgusting room. Air conditioning was filthy, the walls were stained with drips everywhere. The toilet paper holder was broken, and the bathroom was filthy. The parking lot was full of trash, and I definitely didn’t feel safe. I will never stay here again

This was the cleanest Motel 6 I ever stayed at.

The room had been remodeled BUT the cleanliness was horrible. We got in later in the evening and the lights in the room were dim, so we didn’t how dirty the room was until the next morning. The dead bugs and cobwebs were awful under the bed and inside the door. If housecleaning had swept the floor at all, they would have gotten most of it! Very disappointed.

To start with was over billed. It was a pay at hotel reservation and they told me my reservation was cancelled before I got there because my credit card was declined. Which it was never declined. To me I had to do a walk in reservation and the price had gone up from when I had originally made reservation. Hotel. Com told me they couldn't do anything since it was a pay at hotel reservation because they charged upon arrival. Needless to say after sceensotting my credit card charge to them and being on the phone over 2 hours nothing was taken care of. Then, upon arrival at my room I found dirty and roach ridden. Only stayed long enough to sleep a few hours and hit the road. Extra charge must have been for roaches! And I might help if front desk person could speak English so you could have understood him!

The hotel room was full of stink bugs. There were a lot of dead ones on the floor and live ones all over the room and bathroom. It was not pleasant.

Their were a number of spiders in the room. Otherwise the room and location were fine. A good value.

Very very clean and comfortable

I stayed in worse hotels, this was certainly not the best. No shampoo, no Kleenex, no hair dryer, small TV. Not modern, but basically clean.

The rooms were nicely cleaned however the AC definitely needed some cleaning. When I turned it on their was def a musky mildew scent.

It was a decent place to sleep; bed was comfortable. The pillows were terrible though; very thin and not very plump. There were cobwebs in every corner. The floor had small pieces of ceiling that had fallen down on it and other random debris. There was not enough lighting or available outlets to charge all of our devices. The door had to be opened and shut with force.

The beds were rock hard, the front door was so poorly sealed that we had to listen to the rain dripping all night. Even though the hotel had few guests, we were all located in the same general area and we were next to a room with people that argued a lot which was audible even over the noisy refrigerator.

Check in was easy. Room was extremely clean and modern. Everything I want and need for a 2 day business trip was provided. WiFi was strong which is a requirement for my work.

It could have been worse but was not great. Due to high humidity and no air conditioning being turned on in the room prior everything in the room was damp bedding was like sleeping on half dried sheets.

Quiet and safe area, great customer service. Room is typical for the 6. Wifi is sketchy compared to other locations, if you need to get on the internet frequently it can be frustrating.

Not a lot of amenities but was just what we needed. Very clean and the desk staff were friendly, helpful, and courteous. Shout out to Tish especially! She went above and beyond.

The worst stay in my life and ive traveled 37 states. The front desk clerk was calling my room and harrasing me all night. I had a non smoking room so naturally i went outside to my vehicle to smoke while i got my luggage. I guess he was watching cameras or something bc the room phone started ringing. I put out my cigg and walked in to pick it up and he started yelling at me about smoking in the room. I reassured him i was not and was doing it outside but he raised his voice saying he was gonna be keeping my deposit and charging me an additional $150 for cleaning. I received more of these calls throughout the night. Not sleeping more than approx. an hour and a half at a time. Kept yelling at me about pets also even though i dont own one or have one at check-in, even though i think i saw they were pet friendly. I askes for two key cards at check in and he questioned me multiple times on if i had other people staying in the room even though i said no from the start. He was so unpleasant. House keeping came an hour and a half before checkout trying to get me out of the room.1 more time within that period also. I left the next morning as if i pulled an all nighter and had no sleep, to the point i was falling asleep driving down the highway after only an hour. It was just so bad, so so bad. I cried because of the experience and im somewhat scarred. I was afraid he may try to come into the room because he was so overly aggressive. I dont smoke in my own home why would i do it there

Room was clean and updated. Check in was fast and efficient with a friendly staff. It was a Motel 6 so you don't expect a lot for a budget room, so I was happy with the stay which was just an overnight of 8 hours and a price of $70.

They charged me $50 fee because it was a non smoking room. They said the $50 would go back on my credit card if I didn't soil the room. I have never smoked in my life and they kept the $50 deposit. Very unprofessional behavior! I want m

Its a Motel 6, but it was just what we needed with no extras. Our dog came with us too. The room was clean. Parking was plentiful, big lot for our rig. Staff was responsive.

Easy check in

STAFF WAS UNWILLING TO CANCEL RESERVATION DUE TO ELDERLY MOTHER BECIMING ILL AND NEEDING TO CANCEL. I work at a hotel myself and know that you can do this however they were very stubborn and refused no matter what and very unaccommodating. So sad when u have a family illness wirh an elderly person. NEVER STAY HERE! VERY INTOLLERABLE.

Made it to hotel to be told renovation thatvi booked unpaid for was no longer available. Refunding my card which takes days and leaving me with not enough money for another one! Pretty tough spot n still no refund 5 days later

I was initially put off by the exterior of the building and since I was traveling alone, I was a little nervous about being put on ground level clear in the far back of the building near a wooded area. Outside my room there were hundreds of cigarette butts and quite a bit of trash. However, my room was clean enough and the AC did a good job keeping up even though it was 90 degrees outside. The bed was ok. The shower, once I figured it out, was nice and hot with good water pressure. Overall I was satisfied with my stay for the price I paid.

The area is safe and quiet, the rooms are clean and well equipped, the service is friendly, and although breakfast is not part of their regular service, they do provide good coffee. There are plenty of places within walking distance for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I would return.

Older motel, but clean. Right off the interstate.

Condition of hotel outside was not good . In behind another hotel was dark and felt unsecure . The room was redone and was ok , alittle dirty .

It is not well lit in the back , I didn't feel really safe and I saw a woman and 2 young children dumpster diving .

Inexpensive and on my route to my destination

Stayed for one night, pretty quiet property seemed to be in a safe location. A few homeless people walk around (the area not property from what I saw) no one bothers you. Hotel itself was decently clean, on the older side so not as “aesthetic” as others. Recommend for a short term stay.

I stayed at 3 Motel 6’s on my trek from TX to IN, and this was by far the best! Safe area, clean room, friendly staff, and very comfortable with a good place to take my dog out. Still no breakfast provided, but the coffee was good. Only complaint would be the outlet the AC was plugged into - it was not well secured with a plate on the outlet, and the plug kept coming loose, turning the AC off.

I didn't really like anything the beds were hard as rock the check-in process was horrible the service was rude it stated online that they had breakfast in the morning and all they had was coffee and things were just so crabby I've had a better stay at a junkier motel then that one I won't ever stay at that one again I would not suggest it unless you like sleeping on what feels like a rock and plus the bed had stains on it it's disgusting

Maintenance lacking, no dining, plumbing corroded (shower not work), building not kept up, felt like they would go out of business, hardly any customers.

Building and grounds very neglected. Stairs were rusty and supported by 2x4s, plaster coming down in the shower, outlets didn’t have covers, several outlets didn’t work, no coffee as promised. Terrible experience.

Everything was great, but they didn’t tell us that they only had coffee at the office between six and 10. And there was nothing so probably won’t stay there again.
