Best hotel ive stayed at in a while. Normal breakfast options. Pool is huge and not freezing. They also had a sauna. Overall dont have anything to complain about.

Right near the interstate & not far from Indiana Dunes & food choices. Not cheap however, I’d say it’s a $30 cheaper accommodation. Gorgeous views of the lake the property sits on. Large rooms, no elevators though & very wide hallways. Only found 1 ice machine but these are things I just noticed & had little to no effect on our stay. Pleasant staff. Breakfast area was a bit rundown - I had no issues with the food choices. Didn’t get a chance to use the indoor pool.

Clean room, loved the balcony & watching sunset over the pond! The deck chairs were outdated, partially broken and sit too low- so the deck railing blocks the view from the second floor if you sit in them. Staff worked hard and were very friendly! The pool was perfect for our 4 & 11yo, the sauna was a nice addition but the seat needs fixed in it. We found the BEST hidden gem restaurant- a drive in restaurant called The Port- homemade root beer, HUGE menu, and SO nostalgic! The root beer and food were delicious with large portions! We loved how close we were to the sand dunes and Lake Michigan!

The hotel was very clean and area around the hotel was well maintained. The staff were amazing and very friendly. They have one of the biggest indoor pools, I’ve ever seen in a hotel. I would book this spot again in a heartbeat!

It’s like a hidden gem. The property resembles a ski lodge area around a lake. It has an indoor pool and sauna which is a plus, for the kids.

Location was ideal, staff were friendly and the pool is huge!

The hotel needs an elevator.

This is definitely a summertime property, right on the lake would be perfect for then. Winter not so much. Pool is huge and clean and the kids had a blast in it. Breakfast was empty by 8am and not replenished because there was only maybe 4 rooms occupied the same night as us. Lots of renovations going on, so the hotel shared spaces were freezing cold due to construction having exterior doors open. Staff was friendly enough. Parking was easy. Room was very clean but could use more updates around the windows, patio doors, bathroom flooring. Very spacious room.

Unclean Bathroom.

The beds were good, carpets were filthy..white socks have now been thrown away because bottoms are black. Curtains had big bloody "chunks" on them, Room 207...not kidding! Positive the curtains came from a crime scene. No elevator and no vending ice until 3rd day of our stay, only one person was friendly and easy to approach. Definitely won't be staying here again - do not recommend!

Building is old and has not been maintained very well. Room smelled musty. Definitely paid way too much to stay at this hotel and do not plan to stay there again.

we loved this hotel !! it was just a few mins drive from some of the lake beaches, our room was HUGE and very clean. the balcony view was beautiful over the water with lots of birds to watch. desk staff was so nice & the process was so smooth & easy. if we go back we will definitely stay here. some kids were rubbing & being loud but that's on the parents, not the hotel.

Ac was great, room was spacious and comfortable, patio view was very nice, National and State Park near by, great restaurant selections and some within walking distance. Rooms were clean, plenty of parking, and a very quiet area.

It was a fine stay. Lots of construction happening and updates occurring. Breakfast was minimal for the amount of people. Just seemed short staffed.

I think the pillows were not comfortable at all. Also my room stated there was a bathtub but when i arrived there was a standup shower only.

Spacious room. A little dated but clean. Updated bathroom though. Nice balcony with chairs overlooking lake. Close to restaurants. Quiet. Limited lighting in parking lot.

We loved the lake view and watching all the birds. The room was not super clean but clean enough (there was someone else's dirty clothes on the floor when we first arrived - which makes me wonder if the floors were cleaned). We slept good (little noise other than train in distance) and the bed was comfortable. Super close to Indiana Dunes National & State Park. Several close food, Walgreens, etc within walking distance. Breakfast was good (waffles, eggs, sausage, bananas/apples, muffins, etc). Our daughter enjoyed the indoor pool.

This property was perfect except for one thing. The roo overhead light has a motion sensor so if anyone gets up in middle of night qhole room lights up. Very difficu k t to get any rest.

Room clean and check in easy and staff pleasant but curtain covering sliding glass door was tattered and falling down in spots and bathroom door would not stay latched.

Check in was easy! I was concerned at first because I haven’t booked online before, but when we got there, it was very clean and presentable. My husband went to get the things from the car while I proceeded to check in. The only down fall, no elevator so IF you have room on second floor, you have to take everything up stairs. With out saying anything, the front desk was like, you know what, you have a lot of things and we have a room on the first floor, why don’t I transfer you to the first floor to make it easier on you. We were ready to tackle the stairs, but she with no problem, transferred us. I will say because of Covid, they don’t clean your room during your stay but that’s ok, I really don’t like people going in the room anyways, but the trash did get full quick! If you needed more towels or wash clothes etc, you just called the front desk and they would bring you more. Check out was a breeze too! The lady felt bad because I reserved through a third party and when through a third party, they can’t print a receipt. Over all stay, was great! Would definitely stay here again.

My son and I have stayed here or the adjacent hotel, Waterbird, on our ur way to and from Des Moines for the past four years and there is a reason we keep coming back. The place is great! The staff is always courteous and prompt at check in and the accommodations are super comfortable. We highly recommend for your stay in Chesterton.

When i checked in the front desk staff was outside sitting on the curb smoking a cigarette. I waited about 3 minutes until she finished and came in to check me in. Her attitude and demenor were at best obnoxious.

Staff was inattentive, areas were no cleaned or prepared for our stay, lack of hospitality and horrible accommodation. Addressed concerns about the condition of the room and tgat it was not clean and the shower was unacceptable, was not offered anything for the inconvenience and was told that there was nothing they could do about the shower and was told that it is out of their control about the water conditions. Pool area did not have any lights on and the pool jets were not even on while guest with their children were in the area. I will not recommend this property to anyone, the lack of empathy, hospitality and accommodation was the worst I've experienced.

Joann was an amazing staff at the hotel. She made sure we have a comfortable stay and even provided us tips on how to make the most out of our stay. She made our stay so much better. What a gem!

As this was our first stay at a Best Western we found the property to be adequate. The room was clean and quiet and the bathroom had been nicely updated. Brittany was at the front desk and checked us in to a 2nd floor room and said Door 3 would be best way to enter. After we navigated the goose pooped filled parking lot we entered Door 3 and proceed down the hall with all our belongings to find no elevator. When we got to the front desk to ask about the elevator, Brittany gave a smug smile and said “oh there isn’t one”. We left the room in the morning and left a tip and a note to ask for more towels please. When we got back around 6pm the room had not been entered or cleaned at all. I went to front desk but no one was there. I heard voices in the laundry room and found Brittany chatting with another woman who was folding sheets. Brittany said if I wanted towels or room cleaned I would have had to request it when we checked in. She said her staff had left and no one could clean room and she begrudgingly gave me some towels that were behind the front desk and I carried them up the stairs and back to my room. I have never encountered such nonchalant and poor service from a front desk person. After she told us that our room wouldn’t be cleaned, a courteous and kind option might have been to offer us a room across the hall for the next night. It was a Sunday and most guests had checked out. Would I stay at a Best Western again? Sure. But not with Brittany.

Staff was awesome. Rooms were very comfortable. Saturday breakfast staff was awesome. Breakfast room very clean and she was very attentive. Sundays breakfast staff was not very attentive or did not keep it clean and stocked. Front desk staff was awesome.

The staff was welcoming, friendly, and helpful. The room was clean and accommodating. The bathroom was immaculate, and the amenities were good. The bed was comfortable, and our stay was pleasant and quiet. The breakfast was wonderful with lots of options in a nice room. We would definitely stay here again.

Lobby staff was super kind and upbeat!

What a terrible experience. This place has huge parties in the main lobby until after 3AM!!! Yelling, screaming.. staff wouldn’t answer the phones when I called to complain. Called multiple times.. nothing! So pick this place if you plan on getting ABSOLUTELY NO SLEEP!! Biggest waste of $300 I’ve ever spent! This was my worst experience in a hotel!

Nice hotel. Had an indoor pool which we did not utilize. Close to Indiana Dunes National Park. Room was nice. Good bed. Had dinner at Lucrezia Cafe in Chesterton. About a 10 minute drive. Excellent!!

Loved the location on the lake. Close proximity to Indiana Dunes National Park. Quite a few restaurants nearby which was convenient. Right off the highway but couldn’t hear the traffic, which was optimal.

Great location with plenty to do in the area. The purpose of our trip was to visit Indiana Dunes NP, which is very close to the hotel. The hotel is located on a lake which added to its appeal. The general areas of the property were well kept and clean as was our room and bathroom. The breakfast was a typical hotel breakfast. I would definitely recommend this hotel when traveling to the area, and I would stay here again.

Poor room condititions, facility was under reconsyruction, süper old non maintained, breakfast was poor and no sitting enough place. Room ait conditioner was too noisy and odor smell

The hotel was ok. Normal for a Best Western. It needs updating. Repairs are easily noticeable. It looks to be an 80's hotel that was updated some time ago. The staff were overworked. The check in took 30 minutes. The lobby was packed because they had one lady working and all of the pool towels come from the front desk. So the lobby was full of wet kids. The staff was brand new. she kept saying "I've only been here 2 weeks, why would you leave me alone." She was very apologetic but it would have been a lot easier if the pool towels were in the pool area. Also this seems like a hazard or a liability to have so much water dripping in the lobby. The family checking in had an issue with Expedia so the staff was on the phone with her manager for 20 minutes while the family was running around and being crazy. Plus another family was waiting by the fireplace area. The all looked to have been waiting longer than I was as they all seemed pretty annoyed. My check in went fast after that and she was very nice. The room is a little less than what I expected from a Best Western. Again, looks to have been updated a few years ago but could be cleaner and repairs could be finished. Breakfast was good. For a family, it would have been great. Waffles, eggs, sausage and etc. They could use a 2nd waffle machine. The line was out the door. The place was packed, patio door open so it was very hot and muggy. Again, the staff could not keep up. Tables were not clean.

I like easy access to the expressway with lots of eating places within walking distance. The view of the lake is great to. Nice breakfast

Breakfast was not good. Coffee was terrible. Juice was watered down. Eggs were tasteless.

The room was nice and clean. The dining area was too small for the mornings we were there and insufficient kitchen equipment. Highly recommend having two waffle making stations at different locations. Also recommend two toasters. Both of these stations had lines the entire time I wae eating.

The hotel was beautiful and clean. The location was great. The staff was not great, though. They were on phones and distracted. Trying to check in took forever just to get the attendant’s attention. Breakfast was frustrating because the waffle maker quit working and the hot options were disgusting. Overall, it a beautiful spot, but don’t plan on much assistance or getting breakfast there.

Was close to the National Park. Rooms are what you’d expect. Pillows could have been better. Water pressure decent and the breakfast at least didn’t have the powdered eggs that a lot of places put out. Decent value for a place to crash after hiking the Dunes.

Lots of options at breakfast! Eggs, sausage, waffle bar, yogurt bar, cereal, muffins, toast, fruit, juices, and coffee! When there was a line for the waffle maker, the lady running the food service area was making them for people in the back on another machine. Service was amazing! The beds were comfortable and clean.
