The property exceeded our expectation. The grounds were amazing, horse back riding was fun. The breakfast bar was excellent and we loved the happy hour and nightcap. We were disappointed that the pool was closed, but all in all our experience was marvelous!

The room was comfortable but had to change rooms for steep steps to get to assigned rooms. Moved to main level. No hangers in room. Also quite dark outside at night to get to and from car. Definitely need better lighting in and around the parking lot to prevent accidents!

Beautiful setting. We were the only ones we saw walking around the property in the early evenings. The Happy Hour self-serve charcuterie and cash bar on the property were very convenient and we enjoyed sitting along the river in the provided seating both njghts. We dined at the property restaurant last night and had a delicious meal. The Lake House breakfast was very substantial each morning, with lots of options. The rooms were quiet, clean, and had all of the amenities. We appreciated the availability of umbrellas and flashlights so we could walk the trails to our late dinner reservation. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and all staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend this place and hope to return for another visit. Unfortunately, we were unable to partake in any formal site tours because we had booked off-site Fossil digging excursions both days which kept us out past the last tour. We did enjoy doing self-guided tours of the beautiful grounds.

The Inn at Middleton Place is located on the grounds of Middleton Place, a former plantation. Your stay includes access to the grounds and garden/history tours. The grounds are amazingly beautiful, especially when the azaleas and other flowers are blooming! The rooms are very simple yet romantic with a wood burning fireplace and huge walk in shower. Most walls are windows overlooking the river and grounds. There is a lodge(bar) where they had happy our and complimentary nightcaps. The bartender was very friendly and check in went very smoothly. Breakfast is included and was very good. there is an outside pool, but wasn't open when we went. I would love to go back! If you cannot do stairs, you should request accessible rooms since there are no elevators.

Beautiful property with walking trails overlooking the Ashley River and Middleton Gardens. A lodge with full bar and charcuterie snacks plus an evening night cap. It's a secluded getaway tucked away from the world in a beautiful wooded setting. Highly recommend!

The basic room is gorgeous and spacious(for a hotel room!). VERY clean. The products provided are local. Really liked the open yet private concept of the bathroom. Perfect for a couple(but probably not ideal for a family, etc.) They even provide Middleton Blend K-cups. Plenty of space to put your open luggage. Pool towels provided! Happy hour was very nice. Great drinks and the live music was wonderful. Charcuterie provided was simple but good. Try the pickled okra and pimento cheese! Breakfast was very good. Cheesy grits, real bacon and pure maple syrup jars were my highlights. We thoroughly enjoyed walking the grounds and felt the walk to the restaurant was not "long". I wouldn't wear heels on the walk but the inn specifically states this(as it seems others have had an issue). We stayed here for two nights to get away from the hustle and bustle. The semi-submergence in nature drew me in and was idyllic after an army graduation we attended prior. Only issue was it seemed someone tried to hack my phone while connected to Wi-fi. We were pretty much the only ones in the building when I got the alert someone logged into an account in SC. Possibly staff?

I have been to the inn several times and for the first time, I was disappointed. Amenities had changed (no hot breakfast, no reusable water bottles) and no bottles of wine (promised by Expedia). I brought my mom for her 70th birthday for an experience that is no longer provided. The inn could have communicated the change when I called to make sure the rooms were together. Both of our rooms had palmetto bugs, which I’ve never seen there. Breakfast pastries were not fresh daily, and it’s awkward peeling hard boiled eggs at the table. I spoke to a gentleman at the desk after the first night (I wasn’t able to get into my room until after 4) and he expressed that he’d ask his manager if a cheese plate could be sent to our room, but that didn’t happen. I’m incredibly disappointed, and I won’t be back.

My husband and I had a wonderful 7-day stay at the Inn — easily the best decision of our trip. The room had a cozy scent of burned wood, beautiful views of the lake, and thoughtful daily cleaning with quality toiletries and bottled water in the fridge. The bed and closet were a bit small for two, and there were some bugs on the exterior windows, but that’s to be expected when surrounded by nature. Breakfast was delicious and consistent, with a nice variety: eggs, bacon, grits, fruit, cereal, yogurt, pastries, and even gluten-free toast and English muffins for my celiac husband — a big plus! We also loved the happy hour cheese board and the nightcap at the lodge. The staff were fantastic — warm and attentive. The gardens were stunning, with lakes, sheep grazing freely, and even a few alligators. The Inn also thoughtfully honors its harsh history with slavery through stories, displays, and tours that promote reflection and remembrance. We highly recommend this place — peaceful, beautiful, and rich in history.

Do not tell anyone about this hidden gem! The Inn at Middleton Place is an exceptional experience. This is more than a place to stay. Floor to ceiling windows looking out on Ashley River. Walk in shower with rain shower head. Large minimal decor room and a perfect bed. the grounds are lined with relaxing chairs and hammocks and just a short walk and Middleton Gardens delight. Admission is included.Happy hour at the Lodge and Breakfast at the Lake House were delicious. All the staff are kind and generous and seem to recognize the amazing gift of Middleton Place. Dinner at the onsite restaurant was good and a pleasant walk. Just please do not tell anyone else, it is that good that greediness is indicated.

My husband and I had a wonderful 7-day stay at the Inn — easily the best decision of our trip. The room had a cozy scent of burned wood, beautiful views of the lake, and thoughtful daily cleaning with quality toiletries and bottled water in the fridge. Picked this place on a whim for a staycation, we arrived at night, so it was a little hard to navigate at first if you never been to this property, but once you figure it out it’s easy. The staff is beyond friendly, the 3 front desk people I talked too were beyond ready to help, and did a great job doing so. The bartenders, Lucas and Jaime were both outstanding, personable, made great drinks, really enjoyed them both. The best part and I guess I didn’t realize it when I booked it, was how massive and beautiful the grounds were, it was incredible. The history of the place was really enjoyable. It’s so quiet and peaceful, it’s exactly what we needed. I genuinely loved the place and we can’t wait to go back.

Beautiful setting. We were the only ones we saw walking around the property in the early evenings. The Happy Hour self-serve charcuterie and cash bar on the property were very convenient and we enjoyed sitting along the river in the provided seating both njghts. We dined at the property restaurant last night and had a delicious meal. The Lake House breakfast was very substantial each morning, with lots of options. The rooms were quiet, clean, and had all of the amenities. We appreciated the availability of umbrellas and flashlights so we could walk the trails to our late dinner reservation. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and all staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend this place and hope to return for another visit. Unfortunately, we were unable to partake in any formal site tours because we had booked off-site Fossil digging excursions both days which kept us out past the last tour. We did enjoy doing self-guided tours of the beautiful grounds.

We love the beautiful location, the river and old rice fields, walking and biking trails, excellent restaurant, the fact that it is a working farm, and amazing gardens and old trees. Only negatives were some miscommunications about housekeeping (2 nights there), and poor TV options. We never could locate the CNN channel!

This was a last minute getaway and it was amazing. The bartender Jamie was polite and informed us of all the amenities and where to eat. Lucy was great as well and a great hostess during our night cap. I highly recommend this place and will definitely come again. Fabulous!

This is a unique place to stay for a night. It is clean and beds are comfortable. Check in staff was not very helpful, and we had to travel off property for dinner bc there were no more reservations available tonight in the only restaurant on the plantation grounds. The view from our room is nice - beautiful old oak trees and the Ashley River.

This is the best place to stay in Charleston. We travel downtown but a lot of our time is spent on the property. It’s a serene spot on the Ashley that just gets better and better. I hope it never changes.

It was very quiet and rather secluded with beautiful forest and river views. The room was comfortable, breakfast was great in a very pleasant atmosphere and the plantation was a short walk away. I've stayed in downtown before, but it will be hard not to stay here again when I go back to Charleston.

The Inn was great! The property is beautiful and well maintained. The Lodge was a great place to grab some drinks and snacks. I would've rated it better overall if we had actually received our breakfast that we ordered the night before. We ordered it for our room to be delivered at 9:30. By the time it had reached 10 we already needed to leave so we just went without.

The inn and grounds are lovely. Breakfast was a little bit surprising considering the location. We were expecting a bit more than frozen jimmy dean sandwiches heated up and grocery items. Less than some two star hotels offer. However, we enjoyed the stay.

The basic room is gorgeous and spacious(for a hotel room!). VERY clean. The products provided are local. Really liked the open yet private concept of the bathroom. Perfect for a couple(but probably not ideal for a family, etc.) They even provide Middleton Blend K-cups. Plenty of space to put your open luggage. Pool towels provided! Happy hour was very nice. Great drinks and the live music was wonderful. Charcuterie provided was simple but good. Try the pickled okra and pimento cheese! Breakfast was very good. Cheesy grits, real bacon and pure maple syrup jars were my highlights. We thoroughly enjoyed walking the grounds and felt the walk to the restaurant was not "long". I wouldn't wear heels on the walk but the inn specifically states this(as it seems others have had an issue). We stayed here for two nights to get away from the hustle and bustle. The semi-submergence in nature drew me in and was idyllic after an army graduation we attended prior. Only issue was it seemed someone tried to hack my phone while connected to Wi-fi. We were pretty much the only ones in the building when I got the alert someone logged into an account in SC. Possibly staff?

Beautiful views of the Ashley River and marsh! Our room was very clean and roomy. Our air conditioning worked perfectly and kept our room very cool. The Inn is peaceful and perfect for a relaxing getaway. We enjoyed the inclusive breakfast that had a variety of options from yogurt, eggs, bacon, and delicious grits. Cocktail hour was nice with free cheese and crackers. The Middleton Gardens are breathtaking and touring the plantation anytime you want is a plus. Dinner at the Middleton Restaurant was delicious. Staff were friendly and helpful. You can even book a horseback ride. Definitely recommend and will return.

We we super excited to come here. The photos we excellent and the perks were just as exciting. However, upon arriving we discovered that many of these perks were not available. We were told by the bartender that there is no longer a night cap (even though it was advertised on the website), there was water leaking out of our ceiling vents and mold was growing along the ceiling because of it, the pool was closed (not mentioned in the booking or on the website and it was obvious that it hadn't been opened in a very long time), the breakfast was dry and mediocre. It was a major let down. For the price we paid for the room we could have visited the Biltmore and had more fun.

Staff was great and helpful. Check-in didn't know what restaurants were nearby but was very professional and nice. The room was clean and super cute! Overall, we enjoyed our stay and loved how peaceful and beautiful the grounds were.
