Skyways Motel Muskoka Gravenhurst ON 11

I booked and prepaid $86 through Hotels.com. I wasn't expecting luxury, but I did expect a secure room and a functional check-in. I arrived around 9 p.m. There was no front desk, only three phone numbers posted on the door. I called all three repeatedly with no answer. As I was leaving to find another hotel, someone finally called back. When I said I was trying to check in, I was told, “Sorry, there's nobody there right now.” Later, someone else called, confirmed my prepaid booking, gave me a room number and said no key was required, just go in. The room was badly maintained: damaged furniture patched with tape and cardboard, unfinished work around the A/C, a damaged door/frame and no secondary security latch. The only lock was an old push-button doorknob. I locked it before bed, yet woke during the night to find the door had blown open from the wind while I was sleeping. Even more concerning, an official Town of Gravenhurst Property Standards Order was posted on the office. Dated May 11, 2026, it states the property failed to conform in some respects with the Town's Property Standards By-law and ordered repairs/compliance by June 30. I stayed in September. Cheap and dated I can tolerate. A room I can't securely lock, I cannot. Photos included.

Arrived to find that the hotel had been shut down by the city for safety violations. The date on the letter posted on the office door was two months before I had booked my stay. Not impressed. Not amused.

Do not stay here it is run down and dirty. The bed was on the floor, the walls were patched and not painted. The shower was disgusting. The door didnt have a working lock.

The hotel is nothing like what is shown in the pictures. The floor is carpeted and isn't clean at all; it has stains and a strong odor. You can tell the bathrooms haven't been cleaned, they are rusty, and there are no amenities provided. Additionally, the bed sheets had yellow stains. Our reservation specified three queen-size beds, but in reality, there were only two doubles, and they didn't offer any solution to this issue. We actually couldn't stay due to the lack of cleanliness. They refused to refund our money or even acknowledge that the place looks completely different from the photos. We do not recommend it.

Property had code violations posted, not clean, bad road access, poorly maintained, Police called through the night.
